Get their lumpia! Good size, super flavorful. Bowls were bomb. Plenty of parking and easy to get in and out.

First of all thank you Rene too welcome us too his Restaurant. I consider this place a Hidden Gem you guys missing out a good Filipino food. Me and wife ordered there Famous chicken bowl and Sisig bowl plus 6 Lumpia, all the food is phenomenal, the chicken reminds me when I was in the Philippines it gives me nostalgic taste. The sisig is chefs kiss this is how sisig taste supposed too be very flavorful and the Lumpia are pack of protein inside the flavor is sooo good. Verdic 10/10 is a must try place and they have huge parking lot very convenient..

    Thank Que Bowl.

Date: 9/5/2024 Time: 1:05 PM 74° Sunny A shout out to Victor G and Jim D, two of my fellow yelpers. I would have never known about Thank Que Grill until I read their reviews. Thanks, Victor & Jim. I came here with somebody who I know is a Lyft driver. D. Broadnax treated me to lunch earlier because he and I knew some of the same people from two different high schools. Thank Que Grill is a hidden gem, a brick & mortar on Dennison Street, not far the cross street of Embarcadero E in Oakland. Depending on which direction one is headed to this destination, from Oakland it is a left turn on Dennison; from Alameda it is cross the Park Street Bridge, left on 23rd Avenue, continue straight ahead on E. 7th Street onward to Embarcadero E and right turn on Dennison. Service was attentive, but the wait time for lunch was about 15 minutes. At the time, the restaurant had an influx of restaurant patrons and ran out of chicken for the Thank Que Bowl. No problem, patience is a virtue. No drama here. Life is too short for drama. The chef needed to prepare the chicken. Our bowls were freshly prepared and quite enjoyable. We were also comp an order of Shanghai lumpia. The lumpias were on point, especially with my garlic vinegar. Seating capacity indoor is 18 people. Outdoor patio is more spacious and the ambiance is casual and comfortable. Based on my observation, there are 4 community tables with benches, 3 small tables with a pair of chairs and a long table with tall barstools. Great outdoor dining area for chillaxin' while enjoying lunch during the summer months. The only drawback I have, and it is not the restaurant's fault, is I don't drive and there is no public transportation nearby. I will return for a future visit. Finally, thanks to D. Broadnax for treating me to a wonderful lunch and for the laughs. I'm still laughing about them June birthdays. LOL.

Cute little menu, good genuine food, warm family service.

Delicious food. Warm family vibe. I passed this place a lot on my way in and out of Alameda. O gave us a delicious sample.

Came in after work on a Thursday and this was my first time at this place . I think it was the owner and maybe his mom, but it was an elderly lady in the restaurant and they were both so welcoming and kind. I think it was the owner, but he was the one that made my food. He explained the menu in full detail and what made each meal special and how he added his own touch. He also gave me a sample of the chicken they use for the banh mi and banh mi bowl, it was delicious. I ended up getting the thank que bowl and the sisig garlic aioli fries. Both were made fresh and I was in and out within 15 minutes. This place has indoor and outdoor seating. It's kind of tucked away so I've never seen it before but the sign they put up I pass it every day after work so I wanted to try. Did not disappoint!! I feel like it's so hard to find Filipino food around Oakland with out having to drive down to San Leandro or all the way to Daly City. Hope this business gets the credit and exposure they deserve and thrive!! Will be back with friends next time :)

Thank Que Grill is an amazing local restaurant, with an outstanding team behind its delicious food and great service. Chef Rene served as a guest speaker for my school club, the Business & Entrepreneurship Club. He shared his story and catered the event, serving his turkey lumpia and sliders. Everyone highly enjoyed the food he brought, with many people saying it was the best lumpia they've had! Chef Rene and his family were super kind and created a memorable experience for students in my club through his demonstration on how to wrap the perfect lumpia. Thank you so much to Chef Rene & family for an unforgettable event of valuable discussion and amazing food!

This is one of those spots that really gives the local, homey vibe. Being filipino myself, I found that sort of connection to the menu even though there are differences from traditional methods. By saying that, the food speaks for itself and its delicious. The owner was really friendly and broke their menu down for us with even a history of how Thank Que Grill became what it is. We ordered the Sisig Fries, Lumpia, and Lumpia Sliders. Everything was made to order and piping hot once it was brought to the table. The sisig are infant-approved, especially the aioli thats laid on top of the fries. We didnt finish our food and took a good amount home as the food is on the heavier side but thats not necessarily a bad thing. Im coming here again in the future and trying their Chicken Banh Mi.

Please run and checkout this amazing fresh and fresh and fresh food! Now, if you know anything about this area you know that there's no food, fresh or otherwise, in this area off Embarcadero. I work around the corner and short of the hot dog cart on the corner, we out of luck, especially with the recent closing of Quinn's. Well, my colleague had the Rice bowl with chicken and Turkey lumpia while I had the ThankQue salad with BBQ.... Yes, BBQ tofu! Yum! Let's get into this salad. It was delicious. First of all the salad had cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, romaine, jalapeno, carrots, pickled salad, bean sprouts, and my God, the bbq tofu was so flavorful and well made, and I promise that homemade dressing was everything!!! Now, my colleague was thoroughly impressed, as I, with the grill on the patio where their signature bbq chicken as made. No complaints! These men were welcoming, happy and proud of their food, as well as offered samples of their bbq chicken. Good service, value, and a comfortable setting. That patio is the perfect escape from the city streets and stale offices.

Part of the menu. There are specials and off-menu items as well.

TQG smacks! Tucked away from the noise of the city, TQG is like an oasis heading toward coast guard island. I had the Sisig fries, BBQ Chicken bowl, bbq chicken banh mi, lumpia, and the fruit salad. I recommend all of it, but when i come back I'm definitely getting the sisig fries again and trying the lumpia sliders. Service was amazing! That's the Filipino culture but you really feel it in here. Outdoor seating options with a nice covered patio.

    Woooo!

I had a conference in Oakland and these were one of the vendors that served us food. I'm pretty critical of Filipino food as my family serves up some pretty mean dishes but here was my experience. AMBIANCE: They were hosting at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center as opposed to their upcoming brick-and-mortar. Their setup was simple and nice. FOOD: Pancit (Recommend) Pancit is a staple Filipino dish found at numerous feasts and celebrations, consisting of stir-fried noodles with meat and vegetables such as chicken, pork, shrimp, celery, carrots, onions, garlic, and cabbage. Shanghai Lumpia (Recommend) A medley of ground pork, carrots, celery, onions, water chestnuts, oyster sauce, salt & pepper all delivered in a crunchy wrap. BBQ Chicken (Recommend) Juicy chicken that was well marinated with a pleasantly sweet and zest to it. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Rene and Leo represented Thank Que Grill and they were kind and friendly people. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Awesome! Delicious food that was very comforting. I approve and I'm sure my elders would approve too. A simple menu that's not too flashy. I'm glad to see a growth in Filipino food businesses so whether it's your first time or not, be sure to check them out. I wish Kuya Rene and his team all the best. #FilipinoFoodMovement Tips: * Follow them on social media for updates.

Saw the post 3 months ago so was wondering the same thing as I didn't see anyone respond or post differently. Are they closed?

Sorry for the late reply, but we have opened our very own brick-and-mortar in oakland. If you're ever in the area, please stop in. We would love for you to see our new place and try out our delicious menu.

OMG. This is definitely one of those hole-in-the-wall places that completely surprises you…read more We came here because our friend Warren recommended it, and now I understand why. It's tucked away in Oakland in a spot you might easily drive past without noticing. The setup is simple: order at the window, get a vibrating pager, then pick up your food when it's ready. They also have outdoor seating, which is perfect if you're bringing your dog along. They offer all kinds of silog meals, and honestly, before coming here, I thought all silog places were pretty much the same. While standing in line, I had no clue what to order. The special that day was the G Fire Short Ribs, and I kept going back and forth between trying something new or playing it safe. I ended up getting the pork tocino silog, and for the second dish, I almost ordered the spare short ribs. Thank God I got the G Fire Wings instead. OMG. OMG. OMG. These are hands down the BEST wings I've had in the Bay Area. The skin is crispy and crunchy, but the moment you bite in, the meat is unbelievably juicy. Seriously, when do you ever get wings that are actually juicy? Most wings are dry. Not these. The flavor, the sauce, the seasoning--everything is absolutely incredible. It's the kind of food that makes you lick every finger afterward. If it were socially acceptable to eat the bones too, I probably would have. And here's the funny thing: while I was in line, it seemed like everyone ordering was getting the G Fire Wings. Now I know why. If this place were closer to where I live, I'd be here all the time. I'm still thinking about those wings days later. The good news is we go to Oakland at least once a month for hiking and camping, and now Lucky Three Seven is officially part of the tradition. It'll either be our reward after finishing a hike or our stop before heading to camp. Thank you, Warren, for recommending this place. You absolutely nailed it. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5 (simple, casual, outdoor pet-friendly seating) Parking: Street parking; may take a little patience depending on the time of day.

There's a bench or two or a few seats for outdoor dining but probably best to just grab your food and go. Managed to park by the neighborhood close by, though the area made me feel like my tires were going to get taken and what not. Still I gave this place 4 stars in hopes that maybe it boosts the store into branching out onto better spots or increase the overall area's value by supporting the local businesses around and in turn make the place be less ghetto.

I reserved for three to sit in the main dining room. The next day we arrived right on time for our reservation and still had to wait about 10-15 minutes and was asked if we could sit outside and then we were seated upstairs. I was a little bummed we didn't get to sit in the lower dining room like I booked on our reservations. It was still cute upstairs and good company always makes brunch even better. The servers were quick and helpful. I wanted something light so I just ordered the chicken and waffle bites. My husband got French toast and a side of chicken and my friend got a main entrée of a sandwich with some fries and a little soup. All of the food that came out looked amazing even at other people's tables. For brunch, the price is a little pricey, but I would like to come back to try other entrées when I'm more hungry. We asked one of our servers if he had a light as I brought a little candle to celebrate my friend's birthday, and as he lit it, he also decided to join in with us as we sang happy birthday, which I thought was really sweet. He did not have to do. He even got other tables around us to sing happy birthday as well. It felt like a special moment for my friend, which was a nice surprise. We arrived shortly after 10am and our wait was just under 30 minutes. The restaurant is cozy (on the smaller side) but has an interesting layout. There's seating both indoors, outside, and upstairs. You may have to squeeze by a few tables to make your way to the restroom. Customer service was friendly and attentive. Pricing for food & drinks was a bit high. Our total for 2 entrees and 2 drinks was $60 before tip. We ordered two drinks (orange juice and an iced mocha) which were provided promptly. The orange juice was a little too sour and my mom had to add some sugar to improve the taste. The iced mocha was good, not too sweet. One thing to note the wait for our food took much longer than expected, and it may have been due to how busy it was. My mom opted to order the salmon yuzu benedict and I got an egg plate (scrambled eggs) with a side green salad. My mom mentioned the potatoes lacking salt but she enjoyed the salmon benedict. I thought the scrambled eggs were good, but slightly bland & needed salt and pepper. The side green salad was alright, but the vinaigrette had a bitter aftertaste. Overall, the meal was pretty good and timing wasn't the best. I'd likely return for brunch on a non-peak day. Definitely recommend joining the yelp waitlist prior to arriving if you can!

What could be better?! Great food, great vibes, and a great project - for all of us!

Everyone loved the food and the drinks never disappoint. Everything was delicious. The ube butter with the warm pan de sal - so simple, comforting and delicious. I love the fried oyster mushrooms and I don't even like mushrooms. The ube waffles are crisp and chewy. The kamayan spread is really a work of art. Ok, even the grapes were good. We took them to go. Nothing was going to waste. As we were wrapping up lunch, the staff helped set up a table for mahjong. We brought a couple of sets from home. Everyone loved learning and re learning how to play. Will definitely be hosting another mahjong night for a group event. Love this community space. Understory encapsulates the communal Filipino culture and the community in Oakland.

Their famous buffet was not offered during the week at the time, just weekends, so a good excuse for me to come back another time soon. They had an extensive menu and I chose several mothwatering options for takeaway: Beef Pares Pork Sisig Pinakbet with Pork Belly The food was fresh with truly authentic flavors and exceptional textures (hint: crispy pork belly!). The portions were fairly priced for the generous size. I definitely can't wait to try more of their delicious dishes at a weekend buffet in the near future! Their catering menu seemed intriguing, extensive, and fairly priced for future party reference!

We went yesterday because we had family visiting and wanted to treat them to an authentic Filipino meal. We spent over $200 and tipped well. They were happy with the food, and enjoyed the portions, but the service was pretty lacking. We were the only table there. The did not check on us at all. We had to ask for water to be refilled. When it came time to take food to go, we had to ask for the container, bags, and the right sized containers and the right sized bags. The older woman with the jet black hair was the one who rude and dismissive. When I asked her for a larger bag, she said that was the largest one. I pointed out that we gave them a very generous tip and that I see larger brown bags, but she still did not offer me one. She was very defensive, and said she thought I was referring to a plastic bag. Folks, don't make the mistake of over tipping here. You don't get the service you expect and deserve. The food is good though, but the service sucks! We spent, with the tip, about $240.
