First visit and it was on a Saturday at lunch. Place was at near capacity as was the noise level. Could barely hear the person across the table from me as it was so loud in here. Food was typical diner fare with the emphasis on breakfast items. I had the club sandwich and my wife had the chicken tenders. The club was fine, fries were just frozen crinkle cuts with no fanfare. The chicken tenders were bordering gross. And, this was very expensive for what you get. $18 + t&t for a few nasty, frozen chicken tenders and frozen fries? C'mon. I believe Atlanta, should be know for breakfast if they had to be know for something. "The Majestic Diner" would be one on the list. We got there early, so we had seating anywhere. We got comfortable and a southern bell, Olive, took our order. Waiting for the food and looking around you feel a sense of history here. Not much has changed. It was very rewarding to feel Atlanta. They also had Smucker's Apple Butter spread. I never heard of it, but I tried it and it tastes like apple cider. When the food came out they gave you a okay amount. The things that took top billing were the sausage and pancakes. The pancakes had an incredible flavor to them. Those were worth the trip. Everything else was not what I'm used to, but was still good. The orange juice was had made and served cold. That was a welcome treat. I would definitely come again. But maybe just get pancakes and sausage. read more

Old school griddle flavor, perfectly fluffy and not dense(served with warm syrup). About those pork chops, i order grilled, and they are so flavor and tender. Hubs order a fried pork chop and it's not your traditional fried, but panko crumb fried. Love the texture, but could use some seasoning. The Denver omelette is very packed with vegetables, so will be mindful to request easy onions/bell peppers next time. The service is stellar, every visit! read more

I love this place. Great food. Great service. The same waitstaff for years and years which means they are treated well. Amazing gyros with real tzaziki sauce... the way they are suppose to taste. But it's Greek owned so that makes sense. THE GOOD: Free parking on app, great food, and cool atmosphere. Great burgers, great omelets, hashbrowns, fries. Yum. What better way to start the year off than at Majestic Diner on New Year's Day. Since I've been here several times now I have to say that every meal I've eaten has been delicious. There are numerous items on the menu I plan on trying eventually. So far we've had the spinach omelette, jalapeno grits, scrambled cheese eggs, corned beef and hash, sausage patties and links, and the french toast. Next time I think we may go for their lunch/dinner options. Service is always friendly and our wait to be seated and eat has never been more than 15 minutes or so but it's usually pretty quick to sit and receive our food even with the place being pretty packed normally. What a fantastic find in Atlanta for some good comfort breakfast food! I had read great things about The Majestic Diner through social media posts prior to the pandemic and it sounded like they were open much later and possibly 24 hours?! Well have no fear they are open during this panini and as long as you GET THERE EARLY you should have no issues and you are guaranteed not only an amazing time of sitting in a cool retro diner but you will have an amazing breakfast no matter what you order big or small. From omelets, biscuits, french toast, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, corned beef hash, grits, waffles, and eggs you get everything under the sun here for a great breakfast to kick start your day. Take your pick on what you fancy and then tell me about it later because I know you are going to love it. Pancakes were fluffy as clouds and with everything made to order we had a piping hot breakfast with some delicious in-house coffee. Service was fantastic and on point. Once you walk in you are greeted by the cooks who are slinging away right in front of you and the waitstaff hustling around with sometimes two coffee carafes to keep people's cups filled. Great pricing for the generous portions you get here so be sure to come with an empty stomach and down to have 2-3 cups of coffee as you dine in. If you like a classic diner, then this is the place. The booths were all full so we ate at the counter and enjoyed our food. Our service was great - attentive and quick. This place, the Majestic Diner, is one diner type restaurant in Atlanta I have visited off and on over time. It is a retro relic that, in some ways, is "too cool for school." I know I had reviewed it once before. I think I purged that review because I didn't have photos. In it, I had mentioned that this is the kind of place you'd see kids from the suburbs with newly minted driver's licenses come in to hang out. And that you'd also see world weary adults doing the same thing in the wee hours as they had their coffee constantly refilled and warmed the booths for a long time. And that you will see neighborhood regulars or people who work in the area coming in for breakfast or lunch. And, lastly, how can I forget the tourists? The Majestic Diner opened almost 100 years ago - in 1929. Consistent with that, it's one of those diners decked out in the art deco style. At the time, there must have been empty lots around the area. Not anymore. It sits on a highly trafficked corner near Ponce de Leon and Highland, just shy of that intersection that is both the name of a hip, older neighborhood and rolls off Atlantans' tongues: Virginia-Highland. And, should you continue down Ponce de Leon going away from Atlanta, it will take you on a leafy journey as it winds along to Decatur and out to Stone Mountain. The food at the Majestic Diner is fairly good, but not what I would call stellar. I have never been here for breakfast. I have only been here for lunch or a few late night dinners, when I have still ordered lunch food and when I have been able to make those assessments about the "night owl" demographic, largely because I am falling asleep when they are getting going. I have often had the BLT sandwich and that's what I had this last time. This item tends to be consistent across most eateries at this price point who serve it. I wish that the meats going into BLTs would be hotter, or warmer, but they usually aren't. However, these sandwiches are usually sufficiently toasted. To round out the sandwich, there was a decent amount of french fries, which were standard issue. And, to drink, I had coffee, which the server kept replenished. The service was good. Everything ran like you would expect it to. But a customer is entitled to be a little annoyed when the tip you just left funded half of the pack of cigarettes that your server is smoking on their break. I sort of "visualize" that money going toward car repairs, unexpected bills, or buying food for a cat or two. They keep the place relatively clean for being so old and I was able to use the parking lot across the way - on the same side of Ponce - that is shared with other merchants. (And, if you don't have a car, you can take the #2 bus, at the very least, from the North Avenue MARTA station.) The prices are also what one would expect of a stand-alone diner with a lot of history and lore. The Majestic Diner is either a high 3 or a low 4, which both round off to 4 stars. The food and the pricing are both in the 3 + zone. The service and the atmosphere are in the 4 zone. As for the atmosphere, this place can either make you take note from looking at all the dated stuff ... or put you in a funk with some of the (late night) customers who look like they just walked out of a Bonnie Raitt song. Note that the late night crowd is temporarily absent. That's because, at this time, the Majestic is not a 24-hour haunt. For that matter, neither is the even more renowned Varsity near Georgia Tech. The Majestic Diner seems to be functioning as a breakfast-lunch joint and I'm hoping it reverts to business as usual sooner than later. Even though I won't be in late at night to see it, the world weary crowd does need the Majestic ... and so do people who need material for their screenplays, novels, and short stories. read more

Surprise doesn't even begin to reflect the shock at the vision of Sandra's breakfast when it arrived at the table: a heaping platter of chicken and biscuits drowning in delicious gravy, enough to feed a lot more than one person or alternatively Sandra for the next week of breakfasts. It was as good as it looked. For me it was the Olympus omelette: filled with sautéed vegetables and not overwhelmed with feta cheese. Perfect for what I wanted, accompanied by an everything bagel, cream cheese and a side of tzaziki. They close at 2:30pm and we arrived about 45 mins until closing. The hip diner spot was empty when we were seated. I did make sure to ask the waitress if it was ok if we came in for in person dining! The restaurant was very clean. It had that classic diner look. The menu is one page, rather short and sweet. We ordered the corned beef hash with eggs and toast and the patty melt with fries. The kitchen is open and very clean. The food was hot and fresh. I wouldn't say anything particularly stood out about either the menu or the food itself. But quality and service go a long way, so I would definitely return for another try. ***I believe the short hours and limited menu is due to the covid-19 pandemic.
