A trailer sitting in a corner lot sneakily houses the Smoke Shack cooking some delicious bbq'd meats. I've driven by this place many times and I'm kicking myself for never having tried it till today. I enjoyed the tri-tip sandwich and it reminds me of delicious Texas bbq, but in a more beautiful location (Mammoth Lakes). The meat was tender and aromatic. The sauce was tangy, tasty, and terrific. The bread was lightly toasted and complemented the meat well. The sides (Mac & cheese and potato salad) were as expected, nothing that's going to blow your mind. But let's be honest, the Smoke Shack is there to smoke meat and they're doing that better than most. Do yourself a favor and embrace the flavor of the Smoke Shack! read more

We stopped for lunch and had the Tri Tip Sandwich. It was amazing and we added spicy BBQ sauce. We picked the potato salad, coleslaw, beans and mac & cheese for sides. All of them were very good. The man who took our order was very friendly and given that we were standing outside in snow waiting I thought everything went pretty quickly. Cute little shop on the corner, I think there are picnic benches under the snow for when the weather is nicer. read more

We ordered the tri tip and pulled pork. Tri tip was pretty dry and needed to be drenched in the sauce to be enjoyable and same with the pork since it was tender and juicy but lacking flavor. Beans were alright and coleslaw was very good not too heavy and mayo-y which I loved. Only one guy working which we didn't mind waiting a little longer because of but just something to consider. read more

No frills place, delicious tri-tip. Outdoor eating at a couple of picnic tables, or you can do what we did and take it home. I'm trying to hit a protein target each day, and the tri-tip was a delicious way to do it. Had sides of cole slaw and baked beans. Found this little gem while charging my car at Mammoth -- totally worth it! The smoked tri-tip was super tender and flavorful (you can taste that smoky love ). The Mexican pancake was stuffed with juicy pulled pork and lots of melted cheese -- so good!! And the milkshake?? OMG the sweetness was just right, creamy and full of fruit chunks. I have so many food restrictions and we stopped by the smoke shack on our way out of Mammoth. The owner was so nice. I got the vegan burrito. It was absolutely incredible. Honestly, probably the best burrito I've ever had. You have to stop by here. All of my friends enjoyed their sandwiches and burritos. We love this place. We will definitely be back. read more

Let me start by saying I don't usually write reviews, although I felt an urge to shed a little light on this joint. For starters the tri-tip was well smoked and tasted great. Now for the negative, the price.... I paid close to 25 dollars for a lunch that ALMOST filled me up, keep in mind I don't eat a lot. You get a few options for sides and I can only speak for the two that I got, which was the beans and Mac n cheese. The beans were almost identical in taste to bushes baked beans nothing special, as for the Mac, it tasted like a normal box of kraft. Before I added a can of soda it was $21 and some change and then went to 24 and some change, meaning the can of Coca Cola was 3 dollars! I truly believe if the prices come down this place could be a great stop, but as of now I see a 12 dollar footling meal across the street giving a much bigger bang for the buck! read more

The bbq sandwich was delicious especially the bread and the sauce. It would be great if he des extra sauce on the side since the meat ratio isn't enough for the sauce and makes sense because you don't want the bread to get soggy. Bred was delicious but for me kind of small reminds me of those lobster rolls orders. Comes with potato side and Cole slaw not too impressed on the potatoes just the Cole slaw was better for me. The burrito had great size and the salsa wasn't flavorful. Maybe if he added a side of bbq sauce instead for each dish could be more effective flavor wise. read more
