Holy Wow... why have I not tried this place sooner?! We sat on their patio area which feels like an at home backyard - cozy! First pro of this restaurant is using a QR code to pull up a menu - now touching nasty menus especially during covid! Second pro - they utilize fresh local ingredients from local farmers (supporting local). Third pro - it is DELICIOUS! I had their take on the Cuban - loaded with meat and gooey cheese! With pub based food with a little twist, the burgers were absolutely amazing (and there fries the best of anywhere I've had in town)! Stopped in before a concert on a Thursday night. Place was packed but we were able to grab a seat at rhe bar. We quickly ordered due to time restraint. Bartender was attentive & recommended a few items. I ended up having a strawberry basil cider, which was on tap & delicious. I ordered a Memphis burger and a side of tomato basil soup. Soup was delicious & so was the burger. It was a lot of food. Hubs got a Reuben which he said was good but pretty standard. We will definitely return & explore the menu more. read more

The food was great but if you're a party of six and the manager doesn't know you... just understand there will be no suitable accommodations made for you. Initially a staff person put together a table for us and then while our food was being served the manager came over and redirected us to a smaller seating arrangement because two people apparently needed our space, even though there was an open booth. He then proceeded to provide excuses for his actions of "other people coming in soon" which never added up to why our party of six had been reseated. The area we were seated in was not reserved. The people who did come in actually joined parties that were already seated. However the insult didn't end there but a gratuity of 20% was added to our bill without ever notifying us of this policy, if it at all exists. We had no problem with the waiter, he was wonderful. The manager was way out of line and shouldn't even be employed, in my opinion. In summary if you're looking for a bad experience in service coupled with good food this is the place otherwise my recommendation is to avoid it at all costs. read more

It's small inside, but the vibrant green booths, fun map theme and cozy vibe make it feel like the perfect bar to hunker down; have a drink and a meal while chatting with friends. They also have an amazing patio area surrounded by a sky blue wall, picnic tables with yellow umbrellas, bistro lights and chairs. It's cool to sit in the middle of downtown, under the sky walk. The service: fantastic! The servers were so friendly and prompt. I felt like they could all be my friends they were so kind. The food: I applaud you! Taking it to the next level above and beyond the standard bar food, they really know what they are doing to think outside the bar food box. The menu is split 1) burgers 2) smothered fries / poutine 3) crostinis (toasted French bread topped with delightful combos of ingredients) 4) the salad of the day. My food order and thoughts: My husband ordered the Maui Burger with spam, pineapple, teriyaki and onion- he was in love. I ordered the Tangier crostini that was topped with humus, a cumin based blend of olive oil and herbs and kalamata olives - oh gee willikers was it tasty! I think what they are doing is a small, thoughtful menu WELL! Thank you Map Room! The drinks: beer on tap, beer in cans. VERY good wines by the glass (small selection but thoughtful) and cocktails (can't wait to try!) I heard rumors of a brunch to come and they also offer lunch during the week. Mimosas please! First day in Iowa. Hungry for a burger. And I love, love, maps. I was between the havana (I'm cuban) or the el Paso (my wife new mexican and green chile is a thing). Waitress suggested I get the havana and the fries at el Paso (green chile, queso fresco). It was the best of both worlds. Chile was a little hot but still tourist grade. Which in iowa is probably right. The pork in the havana was smoked pulled. And totally amazing. The sandwich had all the right ingredients, swiss, yellow mustard, nice pickles. And the bun was upside down. Weirdly good. The bottom line, this place was so good I'm back for an aged cruzan rum drink. And they also carry the blackstrap. I should mention that service at lunch and at the bar this evening was outstanding. My cedar rapids spot. read more

The Map Room is, in my mind, a fantastic concept for the area. It's a nice little location with an inviting ambiance. Having burgers topped with different things based on places / cultures around the world is awesome! From El Paso to Maui to Bangkok , The Map Room makes it all accessible to your table. The staff was super friendly and very attentive. The menu is small but has a lot of variety. Prices were decent but a tad on the higher side especially if you get something to drink ($2.50ea). I had heard people talking up the fries a lot on Facebook, so I was pretty excited. I got them instead of a really tasty sounding salad. To me they tasted like any other fry you'd get at a fast food place. They weren't terrible, but I fail to see why people were raving about them so much. The burgers themselves looked almost like a piece of art. Masterfully crafted and carefully put together, they look great. Buns tasted and looked of a higher quality. I got the El Paso and the green chiles, queso fresco, and braised pork were solid. Okay flavor and generous amounts. The burger itself left something to be desired though. It tasted and looked like real beef and not some gross pressed patty which is a huge plus. I don't think they season the meat though, and if they do it isn't much. The actual beef didn't have any flavor. And I understand that maybe the gimmick of the place is everything on top of the burger -- but it's still a burger place and they don't treat the burger as well as they should. In the end, it was a nice experience and something different to try once. The food was OK enough but there are better BURGERS in the surrounding area, leaving little reason to stand out or make a return. Unfortunate, I was so excited about this place. read more

This place seems to be a bit of a hidden gem in Cedar Rapids. Although it's located a long a busy street full of breweries and restaurants, it's not all that visible. We just kind of stumbled upon it and we are glad that we did. The Decour is one of a kind, all kinds of maps globes and other geographic type memorabilia around . Our server was professional, yet friendly and knew the menu inside out I chose one of the specialty burgers, and my wife chose one of the naan dishes. Both were outstanding. My burger had green pork chili on it and it was simply exceptional. Great service, unique one-of-a-kind dishes... Certainly a five-star experience for us. read more

A much overdue review of a local fav we've been frequenting for a few years now. Quality ingredients, fun concept executed so well with topping variations for burgers, fries, naan and even a veggie burger option. These people knew what they were doing when they crafted the menu. Seems simple but we never run out of options to try and circle back to long-standing favs (the Cusco...a 'last meal' worthy selection!!). I recently tried a sandwich with just the "toppings" vs the burger or veggie burger and had plenty to fill me up. The Saigon was delicious this way - felt like a modern spin on a bahn mi with the flavors they highlighted. Have tried more option than I can recall at this point but love the unique sauces, flavor combos and ethnic inspiration. The ambience and decor is quaint and can be a bit loud at times but a wait to sit and dine is worth it. And the cocktails - I could write an entire second review on! The Kentucky Punch is a go-to for me but seasonal options when the menu rotates always include something new and fantastic. Can't beat a uniquely crafted cocktail with quality liquor and fun liqueurs. Well done, folks!! read more

So this place has a unique touch with all the hanging maps on the walls the character comes out. But the problem I had was with the management they just had 1 waitress waiting and the place was so crowded she was trying to keep up but was not able to keep up. And the drinks were below avg. I like my drinks and shots to be good. It was all ice no alcohol. I ordered 4 drinks and couldn't get a buzz. Now lets talk about food- the food came after 1/2 n hr after being ordered. Being from India, I was intrigued to try tried their delhi burger and agra appetizer they looked really good but the sauce/gravy was undercooked/uncooked. They should get if the color of the gravy looks good that doesn't mean it is cooked. Lot of science goes in making any Indian sauce. All the spices in the sauce were raw. My wife's marakeesh burger was good. After looking at such good reviews I was disappointed with the overall experience. read more

Flavors beyond the usual fare in CR! I visited for the first time tonight with my husband. We arrived around 5pm and sat at the bar. The tables weren't full yet, but it's a VERY small place, and the bar was open. The bartender greeted us promptly, gave us drink menus and replied that "of course" we could order dinner at the bar. My husband ordered a sour beer, I got a vodka sprite. Both were delivered quickly and as desired. When hubs ordered a refill on his beer, the bartender brought him the wrong one, but she realized her mistake a minute later (after he decided to just drink what was brought to him) and offered him the one he ordered, for free. We were there on a Friday night, and it was happy hour! Glasses of wine, well drinks, and some other drinks were on special. Also, appetizers were $2 off. The appetizers are a selection of Fries or Naan with toppings. We chose the Montreal fries with the "gravy of the day" which happened to be my husband's favorite, sausage gravy. Our fries came out hot, covered in the perfect amount of sausage gravy, cheese curds, and chives. Absolutely delicious. We could have ordered that and split it, and would have had enough calories for the whole day! But we didn't. We wanted burgers. Each burger is named after a city which reflect the toppings you'll get. My husband got the Delhi and I got the Lima. He loved his curry covered burger, and I loved mine which was spicy, chili gravy covered. LTOP came on the side as I requested. Burgers are frankly phenomenal, have tried the Seoul, Melbourne and build your own burger pulled pork, mozz and BBQ sauce. All were way too good. The Seoul might be the standout but it's close either way. Friendly unpretentious people in a small setting devoid of loud obnoxious music and TVs! Don;t lose your edge. What makes it 5 stars?
