So this place, The Map Room, serves "off the charts" amazing burgers. The server was quite knowledgeable and friendly and the ambiance is....worldly map filled cool. The fries, cooked in a fries only dedicated fryer are killer crispy and delicious as well. The Marrakesh Burger is to die for as is the Melbourne. Don't be afraid to try a unique combo of burger toppings and you won't be disappointed . Consider pickled beets, pineapple , an egg, chili aoli sauce or hummus, goat cheese, and more. Absolutely LOVED this place. Not only is the atmosphere great, with a bar atmosphere with cute decor, the food was great. They had a good selection of drinks (though I just enjoyed a coors light). Started off with the fries flight which was so fun and delicious, my favorite sauce was the Bulgogi Aioli. Then enjoyed the Springfield Burger and upgraded the side salad to the Tokyo. Awesome place with a ton of unique maps collected from all over. Very limited seating but had great drinks and food. Highly recommend the banana nut old fashion and anything with that bourbon cheese. I was in town for work and tried the Map Room for an early dinner. I was nervous to get the Seoul Burger but was so glad I did. It was delicious! The meat, the sauce, the kimchi....it worked, and was mouthwateringly good. I got a side salad, and the house made ranch dressing was top notch. It's a cool little hole in the wall that sits 30 people max. The services was prompt. But the staff was louder then the customers. Talking loud and goofing around. The food was okay It was not great. The drinks were good they had a full bar. Servers were friendly . We tried the medderteranin plater as an appetizer. It was a mess 3 over cooked falafel balls . A smear of humus and beans with a little cheese and some raw baby tomatoes for 18 dollars. I tried the Cuban sandwich it was decent the fries were realy good. My wife had the Pittsburg salad. It was another miss. Over all decent place to hang out . But over priced for what you get. It's a buger and sandwich shop with a good drink menu .the out side patio is super chill. Just had a great lunch here. Ambiance is really nice; cozy and well decorated. Has the best service and granted it wasn't busy but our waiter was so enjoyable and so god at his job. My husband and I each had pork sandwiches; mine was the memphis and his was the busan. Both were solid. My side was Montreal fries which were good and he had the Santa Fe fries. Again both were good. We definitely will stop again when driving through Iowa. read more

We had children with us because the place we wanted to go to nearby was too smoky, so we came to Map Room instead. The food was good, staff was friendly, and decent amount of drink options. I would say, however, they don't have high chairs/boosters, so keep that in mind. My toddler had to sit on my lap while I ate. We still enjoyed the burgers and fries. Decor/service: the service was lacking as they were way to short staffed to function. They were nice enough but overwhelmed. They forgot to add bacon to my burger as I ordered and they were so stressed I didn't bring it up. Food: the burger was average at best. The patties were over cooked and lacking any serious flavor. Great little hole in the wall I happened upon while wandering the streets outside my hotel. Very adventurous menu, but you are able to build your own burger. I built my own and was very pleased with the nice toasted buttery bun and juicy, hot burger dressed to order. I had quinoa salad which complimented the burger better than expected. One star off because I think the salad would have been a game changer with a little bit of feta added to it. great lunch! Will hit this place up again if ever in Cedar Rapids in the future read more

First of all, freezing cold. Saw a number of customers with coats on and even hoods up. Requested a hot drink, either coffee or hot tea. I was brought coffee, however it was not hot and tasted more like tea. We are here and extremely disappointed in this establishment, We are seated as a group of six. Out of nowhere a manager asks us to move to a booth for 4 people. I was hoping to enjoy my experience with the map from a bit more my second time around this place just lacks consistency in the food. It really depends on who you get and on whether they're busy or stay after I don't know this time around my food was just not well prepared, and the flavor was just either offer and it was my burger was overcooked for one. My father, my boyfriend, and I came for Saturday lunch and really enjoyed our experience. The cute little place had only one talented woman working the handful of tables and the bar. It got pretty full and it seemed like she coulda used a hand, but the quality of service was still excellent. The cozy quarters have cool wall paper, vintage maps and prints, and a touch of plants in the windows. The booths are stiff but intimate and I liked the silverware holder and the Trivial Pursuit cards on our table. After some debate, we ordered the campania crostini to share. It was my favorite part of lunch. My father "built" his own burger - double patty, goat cheese, bacon, and roasted tomatoes with a side of Cusco fries. That got two thumbs up, especially the fries. My boo thang got the Memphis burger with regular fries and inhaled it. I went with the Maui burger and Milwaukee fries, both of which I thought were just okay...scandal, I'm sure. It's cool though, because I'd still really like to try more of the menu. I love how different it is from other area restaurants and there's a lot to explore. Burger joints have become as common and trendy as undercut hairstyle, beards, and kombucha. Seriously, it seems as if a new burger place offering unusual combinations of hamburgers opens up every other week. As you can tell, my expectations for what to expect from this place, were not very high. As soon as I walked in I knew this was going to be different. The Decour is rather unique and very interesting. Quite literally, it is a map room. The other thing that struck me as different was how small the restaurant is. I believe there are maybe five booths and two tables. The menu is rather simplest, as well. It is one page, printed on both sides yet the variety of what they offer is tremendous. I chose to have the Maui burger. That is a hamburger with spam, cheese pineapple and caramelized onions. Holy cow! That was arguably one of the best burgers I have had in a very very long time. In fact, the entire dining experience was one of the best dinners I have had in quite a while. The beer menu was wonderful. The food was incredible. The french fries were perfection. If you get a chance, you absolutely have to eat at this restaurant. I cannot recommend it highly enough. read more
