I was so happy to find the Mate Factor during our visit to Manitou Springs. Through a Yelp search I knew I had hit gold when I saw the menu. We have Yellow Deli had home and were familiar with the quality they offer and The Mate Factor did not disappoint. The restaurant is smaller than the NC site but the quality is 5 star. I got my go to Mango Mate and it was refreshing. I enjoyed the salad which was paired with their fresh bread, it was excellent. My husband had the poached eggs (breakfast options served all hours) and commented they were the best he had had. He also had a strawberry banana smoothie. The service was great, staff took time to talk with all customers and it was obvious that the Mate Factor is a favorite among locals as well as they called many by first name upon entering the restaurant. Parking in Manitou Springs is tight but it was worth parking a couple blocks away and taking an enjoyable walk to this hidden gem. We will definitely be returning during this trip. read more

Very interesting hippie atmosphere. It's not what I typically go for but this restaurant offered a different experience and I appreciate that. We ordered a mate cup and a mate bar. It was my first time having mate, and it was a challenge to drink. Small sips of bitterness were balanced out by the very sweet mate bar. All in all, a good experience. The atmosphere and the interior design was what made this place memorable for me. Zackhai (?) greeted us and was very welcoming. He's got a very calming presence and soothing voice. He walks like someone who is very at peace with the world. The servers/cooks were all dressed very conservatively in amish-like attire, if not amish attire. The interior is difficult to describe in terms of one cohesive style. Check out the pictures. You'll see what I mean. The cash register and the cooking area are in this space that has a thatch/straw awning over it, so it's like you're coming up to a booth and ordering. The booths are all wood and some stools are hide covered. All of this is indoors and not very well lit, other than the bright sun coming in from the back of the restaurant. This is one of the coziest spots with THE tastiest drinks. I've been coming for years, and their quality is refreshingly reliable every time. The staff are always friendly, kind, and thoughtful. The atmosphere is so cozy and welcoming, with all their warm, rustic decor. The maté drinks are pure delight. I prefer them over Starbucks any day! I feel so energized from them, without being jittery like coffee can do. They have a great range of flavors, from cooling and refreshing to warm and indulgent. If you are in the mood for a lattes or hot cocoa kind of feeling, try their Dark Roast Maté Latte. Soooo good. If you like more refreshing green tea-type flavors, try the regular Yerba maté, either iced or warm. Also, I would be doing you all a great disservice if I didn't mention their maté bars!!! They are THE best snacks. They have the flavorful maté, and I believe carob and chocolate in there, with other yumminess. For years, this was my favorite treat after a full day at work. I randomly decided to try this place and I was delightfully surprised by how amazing this place is. It is a cute little gem located in DT Manitou Springs. When I came in I told the owners it was my first time and they were authentically welcoming. The owners live in a commune close to the shop so they know a lot about the area. Anyways I got the peach matè and it was really good. I also got the sprout wrap which is extremely tasty. I got mine with the veggie patty in it (which they make from scratch) and trust me get the wrap with patty. This was an unexpected find in a rather touristy small town city. My friend and I stopped by after a long hike around the Pikes Peak area. It was very busy with a family of 10 before us placing orders. Once it got to us, the staff apologized for the wait and placed our order. We got the reuben sandwich and chicken on the ranch with the peach iced tea. The reuben had a great ratio of sauerkraut and corned beef. The chicken on the ranch was stuffed with the ingredients and filled me up. Every sandwich comes with a choice of a side (chips or veggie salad) and a pickle wedge. If you want to leave stuffed after a long hiking day or exploring the city, this is the place to go! read more

This cafe has a very cozy environment with very nice employees that care about the customers and that they get what they want. When I was here the employees would walk around to make sure everything was good and we were enjoying what we were eating. I highly recommend the Deli Rose and the Turkey Wrap. I had the breakfast sandwich on gluten free bread (I have celiac disease) I was warned that there is a chance of cross contamination, however he used a clean knife and cleaned the cutting board and did his best to minimize the chances. This is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. Mate Factor is open 24 hours. They have interesting stuff like natural soda (if you are like me, just don't ask, drink it.) Their food is varied and extremely tasty. The coffee, especially the mate dark/bold/strong (forgot the exact title) is a perfect complement to a chilly night out, especially if you have been wandering around town exploring and looking for an adventure. I went with the roast beef reuben. The service was nice and quick. Before I had even had a chance to realize how hot my coffee was and be able to take a first drink, my big juicy sandwich was presented for my consideration. I enjoyed it. The pickle was a great touch. I am not a big chip person so that did not factor into how much I liked my meal - but yes, there were potato chips. The sandwich itself was perfectly proportioned with ingredients and meat and bread and condiments. It was a great reuben sandwich. The owner of Wallahee Lounge had highly recommended this place when we were looking for a "cool coffee place" and he one-upped our quest to include that they serve food late at night. We took his suggestion - and in one of those awesome twists and turns of the universe - after we had ordered our food, grabbed a table, and sat down who would we see walking in but the person who recommended the restaurant to us? Pretty awesome to run into someone that stands behind their local "check this out!" type of recommendation. The Mate Factor Cafe is like no other cafe I have been to..ever. Now what makes this so is several reasons: 1: They serve a killer mate, as well as regular coffee drinks and mate-coffee fusions (recommended) 2: The ambiance is one of intimate booths of old wood and low yellow lighting, which gives this place a sort of cozy cabin feel 3: The people that run this place are religious nuts: i.e. they think they are part of one of the lost 12 tribes of Israel Yeah....but anyway, they don't really talk about that unless you ask them, and since this is a killer cafe in a prime spot in Mantiou, definitely check these guys out. We stopped here on a whim as we walked through town and loved it! The inside is a really cool design that makes you almost feel like you're on beach somewhere. The kitchen/bar is built into a little hut and then all of the tables and booths have some sort of decoration whether it is a mural or interesting chairs. We only had drinks here but the raspberry mate was great and we really enjoyed spending time in in the restaurant. We grabbed a date bar on the way out which was delicious and they also had a lot of good looking warm food that we didn't try, but will next time! read more
