Food: Don't like cheese? This place is NOT for you. Otherwise, they don't call it "the Melt" for no reason! I was pleasantly surprised at how good everything was, considering this is kind of a quasi-chain fast food style place. My kids ordered grilled cheese and mac'n cheese, both said they were the best they had ever had (they are teenagers too BTW). The queso de mayo was excellent and my wife said her spicy chicken was really good. Lots of cheese! While this was not anything we hadn't had before in our lives, it was still pretty dang good and we were all happy with the meal. Atmosphere: It's in a mall so a little crowded. And there is limited seating inside so that kinda sucks, but it was a beautiful day so we did not mind sitting outside. And this is more of a dig at the mall, but they definitely need more outdoor seating. Price: It's a fair place, 12$ for a meal and drink isn't too bad. Then again, it's not steak you're eating, it's stuff smothered in cheese! Service: No complaints on the service, they were very patient with all of their patrons even though they were busy. Overall: I don't know what will get the last star, probably trying something I've never had/seen and it blows my mind...? It was a solid place nonetheless and we would definitely come back if given the opportunity. read more

Heaven for sure! Never in my dreams did I think I would get gourmet food, from the mall, at a fast food type place. Not only the food but the service and friendly demeanor from Tessa. She went above and beyond! The garlic chicken bacon Mac n cheese, no words... Wait, how can I not talk about the party in my mouth? My taste buds are exploding just thinking about how good the mac tasted. Got the jalapeño burger cooked medium. It was the juiciest most amazing hambergesa con queso I have had in eons. Are there any other places to eat at Irvine Spectrum? Not for me anymore because I can't wait to go back seconds, thirds, 4ths ;) Did I forget....Tessa rocked the entire experience! I REALLY wanted to like this place but..... So I stopped by on a Friday night, and there wasn't a long line. I used the iPad DIY ordering system and got a burger with a side of mac n cheese, keyed in my buzzer #67 and sat down. I noticed people who ordered after me got their food. Tables who were occupied after me had their food. So I went up to the girl and showed her my emailed receipt and buzzer. She told me to sit down and it'll be ready soon. Soon? I waited a bit more and the father/ daughter who was at the counter when I complained the first time got their food. I went up and asked where's my food? Oh the computer doesn't show my order but I had a receipt. The girl said give her 4 minutes and it'll be ready. Eventually the food came, the girl said she refunded my money. I'm assuming the manager was the one who flagged me down, and said my food was ready. He apologized and said "is there anything else I can get you?". Well, I was just happy my burger and pasta was done, so I said no. What else could I say? More food, please? To boot, the place was dirty, no napkins, and the trash was piled with used trays and the garbage overfilled to the point no one was tossing their trash in the bin. Generous 3 stars here. read more

Ordered food from this location yesterday. To say that I was disgusted is just the beginning. The cashier comes out to the condiments counter and picks up a plastic knife and starts picking stuff out from underneath her fake nails. Then proceeded to go back to the register and continue with the picking at her nails.Then to make matters worse, the really nice man behind the counter who is usually there when I have gone in. He goes to the front doors starts spraying the windows and cleans them, yes that's great.. however he also wiped down the tables then goes back behind the counter and with the same gloves on starts packing the individual pickles!! I could not eat my food once my number was up. Management really needs to talk to their employees and the health department should make a stop to the restaurant. read more

We never visited this restaurant because we are not fans of grilled cheese sandwiches (since we can make them at home). But we had a coupon so we figured we would check the menu. To our surprise, this is a burger place! That being said, the burgers were just ok. Fair price point but very basic. I actually ordered the 'swiss and shroom' grilled chicken sandwich and it was very good! The rest of my group ordered the swiss and shroom burger and they agreed it was nothing special. Good but we know of other better burger places. At first I ordered one side of fries but it was a very small amount so I ordered an extra and that was a good amount of fries for 4 people. My boyfriend and I came here for the first time to satisfy our burger cravings. However, it is very unlikely that we will be coming back. We ordered garlic parmesan fries and two spicy mission burgers. Spicy mission burger: the burger was so greasy. There was a ton of oil dripping off my meat. I know the difference between meat juice and oil. It was definitely oil. My burger also wasn't put together properly, so it was a pain to eat. The basic characteristic of a burger is for most elements to at least be in the buns.. and the meat somehow didn't even make it between the buns when I received my order. Garlic parmesan fries: they were so heavy - probably the greasiest garlic parm fries we have ever had. There was a pool of butter at the bottom of the fries. Usually, more butter = more better, but it definitely wasn't the case here. Service: the cashier was nice. The food handlers in the back were definitely goofing around a lot. That might have contributed to the meal being unsatisfactory(?) Pickle: the pickle was really good and crunchy. It carried the meal since it cut through all the grease. Although we probably won't be coming back, I would recommend this place for those looking to eat something really greasy. read more

Went in here at 2pm (5/17/19) so I'm assuming lunch rush, if there was one, was over. Only a couple of people in the restaurant. Two of the people sitting down eating were employees. The tables that I saw and sat at were dirty and had not been wiped. Oily with bread crumbs all over. I got the paddy melt, which was actually pretty good. It was $9. Not much to complain about with the food. Prices seemed a little high but that's what I expect at the Spectrum. The music was blaring and so was the television, which displayed English subtitles and was on the Univisíon channel in Spanish. The music and TV felt chaotic and uncomfortable. The whole vibe of the place was weird. Like nobody cared about the restaurant or that it looked gross. It appeared the manager was there having a meeting with maybe the regional manager(?). My point is that the people obviously in charge of this place were present and didn't seem to care that it was a mess. As we were finishing the meal, one employee began to wipe down some of the dirty tables, but it was too little too late. Will not be back here. Upon this, an Employee by the name of Arden, was very kind and genuine with helping my disabled grandma navigate through the door and even offering to refill her water. AHHH, I'm so sorry to the person who gave us coupons to try this place again after writing my original review on how this place was underwhelming. We came back with our little coupon from customer service and realized you had to order in person to redeem it instead of using the tablet, which we were sad about, lol. Upon ordering, the guy that takes our order had no idea how to redeem the coupon, so he literally walks away and makes this girl take our order. She also has no idea what to do, so my poor S.O. is just standing there waiting for something to happen. In the end, they somehow figure it out and processes our order. When our food was ready, the girl literally pushes the bag of food to my boyfriend and doesn't even say anything about it, almost like she was in disgust or didn't like us because we gave them a hard time with our coupon; mind you, we weren't mean about it or insistent on using it. We just gave it to them saying we would like to use this coupon and this is how we were treated. Very disappointed with the customer service... GRILLED CHEESE - score! I mean who doesn't love grilled cheese?! It is located in Irvine Spectrum food court [across from Veggie Grill]. It was easy to locate, google map took you right to the location. It has private lot parking as well as parking structure. It has indoor as well as outdoor seating. I noticed that the tables were not wiped, we had to take a napkin and clean it ourselves. The floor was sticky and they don't provide enough napkins with the food. Servers as well as our cashier was helpful and friendly. Our cashier was very patient and gave us her recommendations, she also mentioned that they can make any item on the menu Vegetarian if we prefer. As soon as she said that I jumped at that opportunity and ordered the Well Dressed Fries for myself. I mean it looked amazing on the picture and fries are my weakness! I was little disappointed when I saw the proportion. My favorite item from their menu was Mac Daddy. It was freaken DELICIOUS - especially if dipped in Tomato Basil Soup. Mac Daddy is basically a grilled cheese with Mac N Cheese in the middle, I mean how amazing does that sound!! It usually contains Bacon but our server was kind enough to suggest that instead of bacon if we substitute it with jalapenos it tastes really good and she was damn right about it. Stopped here on a whim after Christmas shopping and realizing we had not had dinner. You are able to order food on a tablet and they have a few tables to sit indoors. The sandwiches and burgers come alone and you have to order fries and a drink separately. We did receive the wrong order of fries but were quick to replace the order. This restaurant is filthy. My son and I walked in Saturday 2-23-19 and found this place completely dirty and gross. The grease and dirt on the floor in the door jams is disgusting. The phone and credit card machine on the counter is covered in dirt and filth as well as the grout in the soda counter. I was discussed and wanted to cancel our order and walk out but my son has already received his order. An employee was wiping down the tables with a dirty towel all the while his pants hanging down past is butt. When someone from The Melt replied and said they would re-evaluate their cleaning procedures, that the restaurant would be advise, that they would have meeting to discuss. WHAT!!! This is simple.
