I just remembered how much I love this chain. Ordered lunch from this location earlier this week for myself via Postmates after a very long day at work. Kept it simple and went with my go to order: Patty Melt - thick, juicy wagyu Angus beef patty in between two slices of buttery artisan bread and Swiss provolone cheese. Cooked medium-well. Yes it tasted just as good as that description sounds. Fresh and absolutely delicious. Garlic Parmasan fries - With my fries and especially ordering via delivery, I worry sometimes when being in containers that they'll be limp and wimpy when they get to me but these fries were still very firm and crispy. And these aren't garlic fries in just name only, you get a nice taste of the garlic without it being too overwhelming and the shredded Parmesan they add is just ... *chefs kiss* Tomato Soup* - Not a big soup person but I ordered it because it was cold and rainy that day. Seemed fitting with the weather and it was very creamy and flavorful. Nice. Glad they're back on this side of the Bay again. The burger I had was not bad. I especially enjoyed the garlic fries. My problem is the ambiance of the place. Melt needs to spend some money on brightening up the place. Further, they probably get a lot of business customers during the day and that's good. They're also open until late, however, they also seem to get a lot of sketchy customers. So my friends really like Melt and that's why I've ever visited. We typically visit the downtown Oakland location and for me it's not very clean. There's usually spilled drink, trash and food on the counters, tables, receptacle area and the floor feel sticky as I'm walking. It took a lot for my friends to convince me to try the food but I honestly liked the bacon cheese fries and eventually the burger surprised me and was good too. I wish the place was better cared for and cleaned properly. It just feels grimy to me. It's like they clean with dirty rags. I had to literally peal my forearm off what looked like a clean table. The service is careless but they don't mind accommodating people with condiments and corrections for orders. read more
