I haven't been to the Melting Pot since it was downtown and when I was there I just had dessert so I wasn't a huge fan when thinking of a place to have a full meal. I was wrong! Just this month my company had our Christmas party there. Well I was super impressed and will definitely go back again soon! We were able to rent out a private room, cozy booths but we were still able to get up and socialize with the rest of our company. Classy and romantic atmosphere where you can really enjoy one another's company. We started off with drinks in the bar and moved to the private room to begin the festivities. Each table had a bottle of red and white wine, which we all started trading later. I wasn't able to partake in the cocktails because I'm knocked up again, but they sure made me jealous as they smelled and looked soooo tempting. The starter salad was delicious, so delicious that I ate the one of the person that couldn't make it. Their balsamic was perfection. The next course was 2 types of cheese fondue accompanied by a platter of assorted veggies and breads. The beer cheese was my fav! I was wondering how a fondue restaurant was going to fill this preggo lady up, they did not disappoint with the main course of meats and seafood. These delicious dippers were served not only with a delicious wine//broth to dip and cook them in, but with the most tasty sauces to top them off with. As if I wasn't full already, I forced myself to chill out for a bit so I could savor the delightful desserts; from brownie bits to decadent cookie bites and everything you could think know in the middle, which were served next to four different pots of chocolate! If you're reading this review you are looking for a fun place to grab a bite with a friend, beloved family member, or that special someone. I highly recommend that you look elsewhere and spare yourself the trouble of trying to dine at this "Melting Pot" location. I use quotes because this place really doesn't deserve the Melting Pot name, and frankly I'm surprised that the franchise agreement hasn't been terminated. So let's get to it. I made reservations for three people for my wife's birthday. We just moved here from Denver and it's kind of a tradition that she, her best friend, and I go to the Melting Pot for birthdays. We were excited to learn that ABQ had a location and that we would be able to continue the tradition. We all quickly realized this would be a VERY different experience compared to what we were used to at the Littleton, CO location (excellent location by the way). This was kind of surprising because we had been to other locations in other states and the general vibe was very similar. You could always tell that you were at a slightly fancier establishment. I immediately felt like I was sitting in a box with poor decor, and a terrible atmosphere. It kind of reminded me of eating at a KFC, with a less colorful theme. We were seated in a tiny, cramped room that was completely full of people, despite the fact that most of the restaurant was completely empty. When we got to our table, we noticed that it has not been cleaned after the last party, and there was cheese and chocolate all over. The host grabbed a filthy cloth to wipe it down, and somehow actually made it worse. At this point we asked to be moved, not only because of the dirtiness but also because the room was crowded and extremely hot to the point where we were already sweating, and the booth was so tiny we barely fit in it. We all waited with bated breath to see if they would sit us in one of the MANY empty diner-style booths in other rooms of the restaurant. Eventually the host agreed to give us another table and we sat down for attempt number two. This table wasn't completely filthy, but it wasn't completely clean either. There were large stains all over the fabric backs of the booth seats. We sat for a few minutes, waiting for them to take our drink orders and ask us what we wanted. At every other Melting Pot we've tried, the wait staff will usually stand with you at the table to begin and go over the menu with you, but that did not happen here. We were just sat down and then left there for quite a while. When looking at the menu we noticed that the prices were actually noticeably higher than they are at the Littleton, CO location. This was very surprising as literally everything is cheaper in New Mexico. We are the kind of people that don't mind paying a higher price for an experience. I've always believed that the price of the Melting Pot has been a tad high for the amount and especially the quality of food that you get, but I'm happy to pay for the atmosphere and experience that usually comes with visiting a Melting Pot location. We started asking each other if we really wanted to spend $200+ dollars to eat at a place that was filthy, with slow service, and with the ambiance of a crappy dystopian KFC cafeteria. The answer was a resounding no. We waited until the servicer came back to tell us that our diet coke and waters would be out "soon" and informed him that we decided to dine somewhere else. The server didn't say much and did not ask if there was anything wrong or what was the issue, just told us he'd cancel the drinks, and we left. All in all, we spent about 20-25 minutes there and left with the knowledge that we will never go to that location again. If you do decide to eat there, please keep in mind that this is not your average Melting Pot. If you have a chance to visit another location, I'm sure you will be delighted. read more

We are Southern California residents, but we have family living in ABQ. Our local MP closed a few years ago, and it's such a treat for us to still have our awesome date nights when in town. We had visited this location pre-pandemic, and we left feeling like we had visited our local spot here in CA, loving the food and the atmosphere. Our recent trip in May 2022 was... less than stellar. There was practically no staff, the quality of the food had diminished, and the ambiance was what can be described as tired. The service was wonderful, but sticky booth seats and crying babies was not going to be our definition of a great evening. We probably will not go back given the price, but we might try another MP a few hours away from us in CA. They're still one of my favorite places, but I think the ABQ location has run its course. read more

What the heck has happened to the Melting Pot?!? I hadn't been to the Melting Pot in many years and decided to go for dessert last night with my boyfriend. Upon arriving, the hostess asked if we had made reservations. I replied no, and asked if we could still be accommodated? She hesitated a bit, and suggested we sit at the bar for dessert. I was not feeling the bar for a Melting Pot dessert experience. I mean, what would be the point to eat dessert at the Melting Pot without the an actual Melting Pot, so I asked if we could wait for a burner top instead. I could tell she got annoyed with me for rejecting her half attempt at accommodating us but she stated we could wait 30 mins if we wanted, which we agreed to do so. At precisely that moment another patron came in asking for the exact request, being dessert for two, at a table with a burner and who had no prior reservation. The hostess seemingly told them the same conditions as she had to us, so I felt content for the moment. My boyfriend and I decided to sit at the bar and have a drink while we wait. While waiting, I was observing the culture and integrity of this restaurant. This bar was horrifically filthy. Syrup bottles thrown on the bar top, dirty glasses everywhere, empty liquor bottles and visibly dirty, sticky counters. The bartender was horrific, lazy and leaning with her back towards us, surfing the internet all while requests for drinks were coming in from waiters who ultimately had to get there own ice, mix their own drinks (who the bartender half made), and clean their own servinging glasses. The waiter we witnessed was visibly irritated, all while the bartender was being a slob, surfing the net. Meanwhile, I noticed the twosome who arrived after us getting seated. As the hostess was taking them back, she noticed me noticing what just happened, and said to me, "you will be seated next". After they got seated I went up to address the issue. She rudely said, "her computer said they were next", and boldly looked me in the eye and tried to shrug off my concerns. I promptly made it clear that I was not ok with that and felt it was done on purpose. In addition, being the only two patrons waiting to be seated, she as the hostess, should have been able to remember who came first into the restaurant. The boss happened to be at ears length and quickly came over to see what was going on. He stated he would get us seated quickly. About two minutes later he came over and said he had a table for us. Which I thought was weird because I didn't see any customers leaving, but ok, I followed the manager back to be seated. While walking back, after passing the blocked wall that shows the individual rooms, the ENTIRE resturant was partially and at best mostly EMPTY! What the ef, why were we made to wait 30 mins to be seated?! I understand restaurants do this to control and help the waiters to not be over loaded but this was oddly empty and unjustified to why we were not seated sooner. I witnessed many waiters bobbing around looking unproductive and unguided, so the excuse of being understaffed was not an issue. So we sat and sat with not a single acknowledgement from anyone. As we sat we had plenty of time to take in what we were actually sitting in. Filth and lots of it! The seats had not been cleaned or wiped down in years, the table and others surfaces showed visible signs of build up to include the floors beyond dirty and the walls being dirty. I felt we were in a dated Applebees instead of a restaurant I was about to drop $100 for dessert on. My boyfriend and I looked at eachother and said, "lets get out of here". This was so bad. I actually felt bad for the workers. You could visibly see it in their faces they hated working at this place. No direction, no pride what so ever. This place used to be thriving but I seriously think it will be closing its doors in the very near future. Not a single cent has been put back into this resturant since it opened its doors. The smells of grease in the air and the amounts of buildup on everything visibly showed on everything. I strongly suggest that corporate look into this restaurant. I can not imagine how dirty the kitchen was, given how bad the eating area was. I even told my boyfriend I was so concerned, that I should maybe call the state inspector to investigate this place. I am pretty sure there would be a high chance of getting food poisoning to anyone eating the food being served at this mentioned Melting Pot. So we left and didn't look back. Took my wife for Valentine's Day. It's been probably 5 or 6 years since we had been here. Experience was a bit disappointing from what we remembered. Restaurant itself seemed a lot less "intimate" or romantic from what I remembered. Seems like more booths crammed in to small space. Service was spotty. Server was nice and efficient but we probably got more info from listening to the server explain items at the table next to us. Food was good but nothing outstanding (especially for the price). Biggest turn off was when I got bill. They have a bunch of random taxes and surcharges that seem like a BS way to nickel and dime the customer. In addition to standard tax, they had wine tax, beer tax, kitchen surcharge 3%, and one other tax I can't recall name. Charged us a wine tax when we didn't even have wine. I was always hesitant about going here because I've heard good and bad reviews from it but I decided to go to their gingerbread decorating event with my boyfriend and it was actually a pretty good experience. We got the gingerbread house and the chocolate fondue. The fondue and the desserts that came with it were all so delicious. Then you can have The Melting Pot experience in the comfort of your own home sans the overpriced, interminable night out. Good news! The Melting Pot now offers "Hibachi" style food. This means that for the main course, you get to cook your own raw meet selection along with large chunks of randomly selected vegetables. All cooked, painfully slow, on a 12" x 6" grill with just enough oil to make sure everything partially sticks. Here's a tip for you non-chefs paying handsomely to cook your entrée portions of 4 shrimp (cook 2 minutes per side); 3 steak fragments (about 4 minutes per side), 5 wafer-thin chicken slices (about 3 minutes per side), and 2 potato chunks (about 20 minutes per side). But don't worry friends, before the 'main course', in this "4-Course Experience" a salad is served to tide you over. I chose the Caprese: two transparent tomato slices with a mozzarella slice cut in half on a bed of lettuce. My son chose the house salad: a big plate of iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots and two slices of hard-boiled egg. all very filling. To finish this "Experience" we chose the Mint Chocolate Chip refrigerator cold fondue served with two 1" rice crispy treat cubes, one 1" brownie cube, one 1" blondie cube, three diaphanous pineapple slices, and one strawberry cut int 4 pieces. I was less than pleased to pay the $75.00 bill ($48.95 for the 4- Course Experience", $9 for 2 potstickers, and $17.00 for two additional gossamer tomato-slice salads) but I was going to grin and bear it until I heard the service being lavished on other restaurant patrons such as skewers and beverages before the fondue was served; menu option explanations, cooking preferences suggested, appropriate eating and cutting utensils provided; and service under the 2 1/2 hour mark. Filthy. This place is gross, so gross. I cannot imagine eating here and not getting sick. Pretty rare that I walk out of a place but the melting pot earned this distinction. Just popped in for dessert, hostess had a nasty attitude that we ddidnt have a reservationn. Said we could eat at the bar but there are no burners at the tables in that section. Said no, we will wait the 30 minutes and have a drink while we wait. The bar was a mess and the bartender was too busy on her phone to care. We saw the couple that came in after us get seated before us. When asked about it they said it isn't a big deal, you will be seated next. We get sat and I start looking around and the place is filthy. Not tables need to be wiped down filthy but piles of grey dust bunnies on top of the seat backs. The glasses were filthy as was the flatware. After a few minutes of waiting for a server we got up and went back to the bar to pay for our drinks but there were no employees there. None at the front where the hostess was either. The check that was to be added to our table was still sitting on the bar along with trash, empty liquor and syrup bottles. Everything was sticky. We put some cash on our check and walked out. The employees all looked miserable. I think they likely all hate the place. Hallmarks of a mismanaged business. I half expected Gordon Ramsey to come in and show these people how to run a restaurant. If the dining areas and bar were this gross I can only imagine how the kitchen is. I've been to this Melting Pot location many times over the last 12-13 years. I've ate here before it moved to Uptown. The Melting Pot is fun. Dipping stuff in cheese is really fun and the cheese isn't bad to boot. The salads are forgettable and basic. Not horrible and not awesome. Maybe skip it if you want to skip any part of the meal? The main portion is alright. I like the filet but boiling meat isn't my favorite way to cook it. Overall, the main course is alright. The service is fine. They don't make the cheese and chocolate at your table anymore. Probably started due to COVID and hasn't been reinstated as of yet. The dessert is the best part of the meal. So delicious. Some of the dippers now cost extra money to get which kinda sucks but it is what it is. The ambiance is less quaint and quite depending what part of the restaurant you sit in. Unfortunately our experience wasn't what we thought it would be. I know we have had shut downs and lack of staffing, but for a place of this caliber I would expect better food. We ordered the Big Night Out and the filet had gristle all through it. The chicken was overly covered with a spice that overpowered and was not appetizing. The desert bites were stale tasting and hard (the blondie). We have been to several through the years but this one left us feeling like the food was an afterthought. They knew it was our anniversary, yet put us in a room with a large party going on instead of a more intimate area where we could enjoy each others company. It used to be our go to for anniversaries and birthdays. We suggested it for our kid's anniversary. They were so disappointed. They requested a romantic table. They were walked past several nice tables and seated in what appeared to be an open family dining area. They were not offered the anniversary niceties - a rose, chocolate strawberries, etc. - they have offered in the past. The worst was the limited menu with no option for oil cooking. The green goddess stuffed mushrooms are one of the best things about the Melting Pot and can't be done in boiling broth. I can boil meat at home, I don't have to pay over $100 to do it in a restaurant that seems to think they are doing us a favor by serving us in a limited way. Extremely disappointed in the customer service. The hostess was extremely rude to our party. I had forgotten to make a reservation (which was my fault!) but I didn't think it would be a big problem since the restaurant was COMPLETELY EMPTY. I then made a reservation from my phone for 30 minutes after we had walked in and asked if our party should come back at that time. First she tells me that she doesn't think we can get a table, then she says we'll be seated any second???Confusing and extremely rude. The entire rest of the night was ruined by her sour attitude. Alfonso (Zo) was an amazing server! Super friendly and on top of the game. The food was good and the perfect amount. Got the green chilli cheddar as the cheese and as you eat more the remaining cheese gets spicier. We got the Cajun seasoned meats with the mojhu cooking style which mixed well together. The mojhu broth was very flavorful and the carribean/cajunish flavor was prominent but not overpowering. Lastly we got the turtle chocolate which had a nice taste of caramel to the chocolate and the pecans we're candied and tasty. I should note we went on restaurant week so it was a bit cheaper and I think the meats seasoned the way they were may not be something on the menu normally. The Melting Pot.... melted cheese over bread yes please! It's a fun night out for anyone. I will say up front that as far as chain restaurants go, The Melting Pot is right up there as one of my favorites. I am partial to happy hour in the bar with a few drinks and a pot of cheese or chocolate. Happy hour is from 4-6 Monday through Friday. There are drink specials Monday through Thursday and on Friday you can get pots of cheese or chocolate for $5 a person which is pretty darn good. Though beware, the Friday bar fills up quickly. I generally do not eat in the restaurant, and twice have asked to be moved from the main dining to the bar. This place is stuffy and hot. They really cram people in and it's noisy. If I'm going to spend 70$ on a dinner for one without drinks.... I want to be physically comfortable. The Melting Pot does offer a cozy seating option for parties of 2 but you must make a reservation to eat there and I've never been seated in that area of the restaurant. Really the physical discomfort of this place is why I won't eat a dinner there anymore. It's like eating in a hot dark cave. I'll take the windows in the bar and some cooler air even if that means smaller tables. The main dinner portions are good, meats and seafood that you swirl around in broth or fat. The cheese and chocolate are the highlights of the meal so I never miss the main course or salad option. Super fun happy hour or date night at the Melting Pot if you're in to the fondue experience. This would end up on an expensive dining option for me so it's a special occasion place when girlfriends visit from out of town. I'll return of course, but it's not a place where I'd expect to be a regular. read more

Yes, this place is pricey for the amount of food you get but can still enjoy this place without paying $50 per person. My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate our late anniversary since we missed our dinner at the Melting Pot in San DIego, CA due to sudden construction in the restaurant. We were excited to find this place in Albuquerque. You can choose to fondue individual entres, do a 3 course meal or a four course meal. Individual fondues are: 1.Cheese Fondues with different types of cheese 2.Meat 3.Dessert Fondue with different types of chocolates. The four course meal progresses to: cheese, salad, meat, dessert. My boyfriend and I just did a 3 course meal because I don't care to spend $10 for a salad. haha We both had "THE CLASSIC" which I highly recommend to anyone who is doing the meat entre. This is what we had: 1. Cheese Fondue: I HIGHLY recommend the SPINACH ARTICHOKE. It was DELICIOUS. I'd totally go to this place just to order this. 2. Meat: Angus sirloin, Memphis-style BBQ pork medallion, Pacific white shrimp, herb-crusted all-natural breast of chicken, and teriyaki-marinated sirloin. It sounds good, but it was just okay. You get to choose a specific broth to boil the meat in. Once the broth is chosen, let it boil and you can dump all the meat in the pot or boil piece by piece. I didn't like the idea of boiling different types of meat all at once so we did the pork first, then the shrimp, and so on. Over all, it was a lot of meat for two people. You're just eating meat and dipping it into sauces like teriyaki sauce, chili sauce, with potatoes and veggies on the side. I didn't care for the potatoes or veggies so I didn't really like that I had no other choice for a side dish with the meat. Overall, for us, it was something we wanted to try once and won't do again. 3.Chocolate dessert: HIGHLY RECOMMEND the FLAMING TURTLE. The dessert comes with different fruits and sweets to dip into the chocolate. DELICIOUS. Overall, our experience was great. I'd only come to the melting pot for the cheese fondue and for the chocolate fondue... that's it. On the day we went, we were switched to a different table due to a small mishap in one of the tables near us. The manager was apologetic and gave us the Flaming Turtle fondue for free. So, my boyfriend and I both had "The Classic" which is supposed to be a 4 course meal but I wanted only a 3 course meal because I didn't want salad. The manager subtracted the Flaming Turtle dessert for us and the salad was subtracted. Our total was about $60 on the receipt without tip added yet. Placed online order through their website. Pickup time is 5:59. I get there at 6:03. No one at the host desk. Wait ten minutes. Someone finally comes and says they will look for my order. Wait another 5 minutes. Finally someone comes at 6:20 and tells me my order just showed up in their system so they will start making it now, so it will 'take a while'. No explanation on why their system doesn't work, except 'it's glitchy'. Finally got my food at 6:26, almost half an hour after promised pickup time. Considering how expensive their food is, the fact that they're a big chain, and they've had a year to get used to the 'new normal' this is pretty unacceptable. read more

First time at a fondue type restaurant in Albuquerque and it was a cool experience! First off the restaurant itself seems a little choppy and consists of many small rooms, but this is probably due to the need of a cook top on every table. They offer a four course meal which is pretty pricy and seems to be a lot of food! So what we did was got one cheese fondue for an appetizer, each of us got an entree and then we got one dessert to split! All the food was very good! I just think the prices could be a bit lower because you basically cook the food yourself, all they have to do in the back is cut and season it. Came here with friends for Happy hour. Happy hour portion sizes will be enough for anyone who is not a teenage football player. I can see how this place can be fun. And good for dates. I used to own some fondue pots and made fondue every now and then, but gave them to a friend of my parents since I didn't feel I used them enough. We had several orders of quesadillas, a shrimp cocktail, and jalapeño poppers. I personally had only a quesadilla, which is obviously a gringo quesadilla, but is not bad at all. My friends liked their poppers and shrimp cocktail. We had both a cheese sauce and then a dark chocolate sauce for dessert. The refill on the cheese sauce had a different texture and taste from our original. Both were just okay, not as rich as I was expecting. The chocolate sauce was a somewhat meager portion, but it was delectable. The cheese sauce came with an assortment of bread pieces and veggies, and we ordered a small amount of pork and chicken as well. The chocolate sauce came with a variety of desserts: pineapple, strawberries, pound cake, brownies, blondie bars, rice krispy treats, and graham cracker crumb crusted marshmallows. Our servers were friendly and came around plenty of times to make sure we had enough of everything, but the dour manager could barely crack a smile at us and talked as if a death had just happened. I am reviewing based on my experience this past Sunday. National Chocolate Fondue Day. This National Day was featured throughout MP Facebook as well as MP Instagram. I believe that being in any type of customer service position whether it be in the food industry, retail industry, hotel industry etc, the customer should be treated like their business is important to the company in which they are visiting, regardless if they are there to spend $1.00 or $200.00. I've been to Melting Pot on many, many occasions from Happy Hour to Full on 4-Course Dinners. National Chocolate Fondue Day had a Special which consisted of: Purchasing a Cheese-Fondue and receiving a Chocolate Fondue Free. So this is a pretty darn good special for those that want to try it out for the first time... This happened to be a day that I came with two Yelpie Friends that had never tried The Melting Pot. I was some what disappointed in a few things about this. 1. My friends did not get the full experience of what Melting Pot is about especially for First-Timers. 2. The treatment that we received, while it was not the worst, it was just very impersonal. 3. It wasn't so busy in our section that our server couldn't have helped to make it a great experience for us. When someone is a new patron, as a server you want to give that patron a great first impression. You want to show what a great business you have so that the customer has a desire to return. That didn't happen. When someone is a new patron, as a server you would want to explain things, how things work, a bit about the menu, an explanation as to whats being served. That did not happen. When there are items with size choices, a server should ask what size would you like instead of assuming, and bringing what suits your fancy. While we had an overall good time, great company, good conversation etc, our visit lacked on the serving side of it. For me and my friends: Melting Pot is a place you go to for a different experience as there are no other Fondue's served up in Albuquerque, Melting Pot can be a wonderful experience having a server that shares your experience with you but not only guiding the process of fondue but being present in the moment. Mind you we did speak Mike the manager. He appreciated our feedback and gave us information to send our concerns to their corporate office. Which was amazing! In the past when I've had issues arise, manager Andre has always helped to make things right as well! Great management team! Our server just needs a bit more training as she was a newer server. Which I totally understand. I'm not sure if our fondue adventure was different because we went in for National Chocolate Fondue Day and were only spending a limited amount of denero or if it was just an off day.... Either way I'll still return as I love their Happy Hours, I enjoy the different events they have such as tonight: 50 Shades of Grey Event with Allison from 99.5 and I do enjoy their 4-Course Dinners. So I do hope you all will give them a try if you haven't already! read more

We were seated in a room with many large booths and the booth across from us had a screaming baby that was difficult to ignore. I wish restaurants would consider re-seating customers who are sitting near such a dinner-ruining situation. We didn't ask to be moved because we were hoping the parents would take care of their little one in a timely manner, but nope. They just ignored their baby's screaming. Sigh. Why would people take poor babies out to dinner at a fine dining place anyway? It was late and obviously past little one's bedtime. Anyway, on to the review of the restaurant. The food was interesting and we had fun trying out the different meats -after we skewered the pieces of chicken, beef and pork and dipped them in the boiling hot broth. We liked the dessert fondue the most. Think of fruit and brownies and pieces of cake dipped in an assortment of flavored chocolate sauces. read more

A very peaceful environment!! It creates a good family time where you can just have fun and bond as a family. The kids (13 & 10) love being able to "play" with food as they dip a variety of items in melted chocolate. read more

My boyfriend and I went to The Melting Pot recently for a date night - he LOVES cheese so I thought it'd be a perfect fit. It has an upscale-ish vibe, and we were seated in an intimate booth that was darkly lit. Que romantico! We opted for the 4-course "Albuquerque Night Out" offering in order to try it all. Our meal included a green chile cheese fondue, 2 side salads, various meats/seafood as an entree, and chocolate fondue. Overall I thought the food quality was great: I initially doubted if I needed the chocolate fondue but the blondie brownie dipped in the dark chocolate pecan bourbon turned out to be my favorite part! Yum. I also enjoyed the "cook your own food" aspect; I think it's different and fun. My boyfriend however took it really seriously and was trying to time all of the skewered meats and veggies that we threw in our pot at different intervals, so he ended up being more stressed than relaxed. The downside ended up being the service. I'm not sure how busy they were (because you're intentionally seated so you're kind of secluded), but our server was not around much. Servers end up needing to be fairly involved to help you figure out the cooking process and turn on/off the burner at your table, and I couldn't help but feel a bit abandoned. When you're paying $100+ for dinner, that's not how it should be. I might go back to try out their happy hour, but I think for fancy date nights, we'll end up going elsewhere. read more

I had such a BLAST at the Yelp party! So many new people and so many different conversations. The food was AMAZING and the desert was so so so good! Chocolate everything please! If you are looking for a place to take someone to have a good long conversation and great food then this is the place for you. The seating is open but still slightly private. It is darker with a bit of a romantic touch. They have a full bar and an awesome staff! I can't wait to go back again! Parking is not an issue and the restrooms are kept top notch. We went to the melting pot to celebrate a special night! I haven't been there in years so was anxious to try it out again. We ordered the four course dinner and my only real complaint was the salad was not the best. All four courses were delicious from the spinach and artichoke cheese fondue to the pick three to the flaming turtle chocolate fondue. I loved it but probably a bit too much. It was really too much food to enjoy the best part, the dessert. I will go back again for sure! Service was excellent! read more

Eh... I had higher expectations for this place than what was delivered. I used to visit the St. Louis location in the Delmar loop relatively often and was excited to show my fiancé this restaurant for the first time. Our waiter was nice enough, but commented at least 3 times that they were so short handed and that his manager was annoyed, blah blah... I get it. Maybe mention that you're busy once and then move on. He took a while with our salads and then brought out my fiancé's salad with no dressing. We had to repeatedly ask for water refills, and they were out of the beer we wanted to drink with dinner (but our waiter didn't know this at first... He came by 10 minutes after our drink order and informed us of this). Other than my few rants about the service, the food was great! We got the Swiss cheese fondue, I had the artichoke ravioli and my fiancé had the filet, and we devoured the flaming turtle chocolate for dessert. Even with the wonderful food - at $100+ and mediocre service, this isn't a restaurant I would visit again anytime soon. read more

I was really torn between three and four stars here. The Melting Pot is an interesting restaurant, but as we discovered, it doesn't work well for a large party. We were celebraing a number of family events, so 11 of us went for dinner. Our reservation was ready and we were sat promptly. Our server was working with a trainee and they showed up quickly to take drink orders, so we were off to a good start. However, our entire party wasn't there yet, and since many of us were new to fondue, we asked him to wait to explain the concept. When they arrived, the server had disappeared, a theme that would repeat itself throughout the evening at strange intervals. For example, there was a young man who would bring water refills around regularly, but I had tea. I had to ask for refills repeatedly as apparently, there is no tea service. The problem with the large party is we were sat at a table with three pots, so we were presented with choices, in the types of cheeses we wanted, the cook style, and the chocolate for dessert. We went with the four course meals to get the full experience, but were a bit overwhelmed with how to balance everything. Once the food comes, the logistics of getting to the fondue pot at the end of the table became problematic as well. I don't see a solution, but if you are planning a large party, this may not be hte ideal location. The food was very good. We really enjoyed the Wisconsin Trio in the cheese category, the Coc au Vin was excellent, especially with the beef choices, and I loved the Bananas Foster with the graham cracker encrusted marshmallow. Pricey? Uh, yeah. I guess for the price level, I expected a little more formality in the service since all the servers were friendly, but a tad casual. I found it a little strange that our server tried to take our order without writing it down, but struggled to remember it all, to the point I typed it out on my phone and let him borrow it to take to the kitchen. Still, he was friendly and extremely patient with us, which made a difference. So, probably a great place for a romantic dinner, or a happy hour with wine and cheese (or even better, chocolate). I came here on Christmas of last year and was a little bummed out by the table we were sat at. It was in a florescent lit room with rows of booths and I longed for the old location where there was more privacy from the conversations of the tables around us. With that said, I was weary of coming back ever again until last week when my sister and I were craving some cheese fondue. I called to make reservations for that evening and asked for a table that was more private than the one we had over Christmas. They delivered. This time around, we were sat in a room that was still large and had it been busy, I would likely have still been bummed out by the lack of privacy but it was a Sunday night and it wasn't busy. Our server was great. He was friendly and willing to spend time chatting it up with us, which I enjoy. Servers are people and are often some of the most interesting so I like getting the opportunity to talk to them between courses. As for the food, it was delicious as always. We ordered all 4 courses and had a wonderfully relaxing meal. As for my 4 star rating... Although I had a nice experience this time around, I just dont feel comfortable giving up 5 stars when I know that florescent room with a denny's style setup of booths is lurking nearby. My best suggestion when making a reservation is always to ask not to be in that room. It's just soooo bad. read more

She offered her opinion about the cheeses and deserts. The wait staff was very attentive to our needs. Our teas never went empty and they made sure they cleaned up plates as they were empty.
