I love it here! My daughter is a Super Fan ...every time I ask her to choose a restaurant she always chooses this restaurant I think she gets a kick out of cooking her own food. Nevertheless, the service was awesome the Ambiance is always on point. This was my husband's first time at this restaurant he enjoyed it as well his only downfall was not enough food so I guess the three course wasn't enough for him but someone as such I wouldn't suggest coming here if you want a big portion. The meals here definitely are not designed to get you super full. The parking is plentiful. Reservations are recommended. We love this place. It's quiet, quant, and a great spot for a date night if you don't mind spending the money to go. It's not cheap--but the food quality is excellent. You can do a 4-5 course meal and mostly cook the main course yourself if you prefer. The cheese fondue and chocolate fondue are show-stoppers too. Service is almost always top notch as well. My husband and I went to The Melting Pot on Valentine's Day for their special dinner and it was such a treat! I had never been before, but it was so much fun. I loved that there were so many options to choose from, but here's what we had: We started with steak tartare on a baguette, which was such a delicious way to kick things off. Then came the cheese fondue--we chose the spinach artichoke cheese, and it came with a board of bread and veggies for dipping. So good! Next was the salad, and we went with the Strawberry Almond. It had sweet strawberries, honey-roasted almonds, and crumbled feta on mixed greens with a raspberry walnut vinaigrette. Super fresh and flavorful. For the entrée, I got the Lobster Tail, Filet Mignon, and Shrimp with the Mojo cooking style. They give you a guide for cooking times and a variety of dipping sauces, which make cooking really easy. (Tip: Use your phone timer for each type of meat to make sure you don't lose track of cooking time) And of course, we had to end with dessert! We chose the Flaming Turtle, which was milk chocolate and caramel with fresh strawberries, blondies, bananas, marshmallows, pound cake, and brownies for dipping. Absolutely amazing. Overall, the whole experience was such a fun and interactive way to do dinner. The server helps you get things started, but you're pretty much on your own from then. Wow! I love "Virginia Beach Restaurant Week" This is my first stop at one of many amazing restaurants that is offering pre-set course meals for this week's event. Starts Jan 15th - 21st. They start with the appetizer and they give you big pile of veggies and bread. Plus you get to chose you cheese and broth Then comes the ceaser salad then main course. I just love the 6 dips that you can try. It didn't come with dessert, but you can add it on for additional $10 per person. In my book it's so worth it! My waiter was so cool and on top of everything! 2nd year anniversary! 2nd location we've been too. The whole experience is top notch. Great one on one time with your date. We had a louder party around us so not as romantic as could be, but still had a great experience. Our waiter was great too. My only complaint is we constantly had to ask for refills. Even when he'd pass by and see they needed to be refilled. Since this is a "do it yourself" experience, I think keeping a drank refilled shouldn't be to much to ask. It's a romantic atmosphere with the delicious scents of cooking meat, cheeses and chocolates as you walk in the door. They have a huge wine bible and delightful cocktails. We had the alpine cheese which is a blend of cheeses a white wine and garlic base with some nutmeg to finish. Salad course is one I skip and take to go. The meats were cooked in the coq au vin style which is a broth base mixed with red wine, garlic, and mushrooms. Everything as always was delicious and tasty. Had my daughters 15th birthday party here and the teeny boppers loved it! Our waitress hardly came back to check on us but we still managed to have a nice time. The kidz were so impressed and really enjoyed the dessert fondue. I booked a table for 8 people and was told if anyone needed to be subtracted from the party you would need to let them know 24 hours in advance or there will be a charge of $15 per person that does not show up, so keep that in mind if you are trying to book a large party. Also, they allow you to bring your own decorations and cake. They have a nice walk in freezer and will keep the cake in the back for you until your ready. You are also able to skip the 4 course meal and go straight to entrees or the dessert, which came in handy because these are teens here, and they were not willing to wait patiently for the whole entire 4 course meal experience to go by. I am not sure why I haven't reviewed this place I've been here several times over the years. The waitstaff are always nice when I come. One of the waiters says hi to me all the time and knows to bring my Coke when he sees me. He has a beard, kinda long hair, young, been there at least two years. He's sweet. The food is great and there are tons of choices and combinations to choose when ordering your food. One thing I will say is that it's a bit dark in the restaurant. For me it can be difficult to read the menu because I have a bit of night blindness. Now my hubby and I do tend to get the same thing when we go. I like the mojo sauce for the meats. We both love the Wisconsin Cheddar and the California salad. The reason I took a star away...I was so disappointed to see that they took the filet off which you could order Cajun or plain and replaced it with brown sugar bourbon seasoning. It wasn't good both my husband and I were so disappointed which is why they lost a star from me. I feel they should keep the other filet and add this one and let folks pick if they want that version. I have finally got to experience the melting pot after wanting to for many years. My husband surprised me with a dinner date this week and this was the perfect spot! They had a special where you could get the fondue experience and I'd highly recommend doing that. The menu also offered a la carte entrees but it's better to get the whole experience with the cheese and chocolate fondue. Imagine a four course meal. The meal started with the cheese fondue. We ordered the Quattro Formaggio and loved it. I'm a huge pesto fan and thought it was delicious with hot melted Parmesan and Fontina Cheese. It came with white/brown bread, apple and pineapples to dip with. The brown bread was my favorite. Next course was the Caesar salad and it was def top 3 best Caesar's I've ever had. The sweet pine nuts and crispy croutons took it to another level. For our meal, I ordered the steak lovers and my husband ordered the Land and Sea. The cast iron grill sounded like a good Idea but we wanted to stick to the fondue style meal. Everything tasted good in the "Coq au Vin" broth. There was also different dipping sauces you can choose to dip your protein in. If anyone gets the steak lovers, I'd highly recommend dipping them in the Gorgonzola dip, so bomb! We finished dinner with the Chocolate Flaming Turtle and I'd highly recommend this on their dessert menu. The marshmallow covered Oreos was sooooo good in the turtle chocolate fondue. We were stuffed by the end of dinner but so worth it! I also ordered their apple martini and it was really good! The bartender was on point. They've made some changes that is worth noting 1- you can now grill at the table 2- they have gluten free options. 3- smaller dip portions BUT the cheese dips are endless. SO GLAD THEY DID THIS. I'm so freakin basic- but this gal loves The Melting Pot. I really just love the whole fondue experience, but since there wasn't a local fondue option in Coastal VA- The Melting Pot was it for me. I loved going during their Ladies Nights or during their promotional nights where it was a set menu for a special price. I'm all about a good deal - told ya- my basic is showing. My favorite broth was the mojo and I loved getting extra mushrooms every time. They usually have a rotating/seasonal cheese and chocolate option which made each visit a little different from the last. I think one reason why I love coming here is because it makes the meal an experience. It forces you to interact with other people at the table which makes it a great date night spot. You can make reservations online, but on some nights you can also get a walk in table if you're willing to wait. We made a reservation for dessert and still had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated. The waitress came with silverware for our table of 7 and handed it to us and told us to "pass it down". We didn't get napkins and when I asked we were handed a stack a white paper napkins instead of the black cloth napkins we should have had. My husband never got his iced tea refilled and it took the waitress forever to come back and bring us extra fruit for the chocolate fondue. We had dinner reservations at 7pm for two on 2/24/24. When we got there, we still had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. They were very busy. I ordered the Land and Sea and my husband ordered the Steak Lovers. The food is always really delicious, however my plate didn't have hardly any food on it. I'll bet if I weighed it, it would barely weigh 6oz total. I don't remember having so little food the last time we were there. For the price, it was EXTREMELY disappointing! It was also hot as hell in there! I understand there's heat on the tables but some AC would've been awesome. My husband and I were sitting there sweating and couldn't wait to leave, which was a shame. Overall, we were there for about 2 1/2 hours because they were so busy. Great date spot! We went for the Thursdate special. It was 4 courses: cheese fondue, choice of 4 salads, main entree (grill, broth, or oil- you can pick your cooking style), and chocolate fondue. As shown in the pictures, we got the grill, dark and dulce chocolate fondue. Not pictured, but we also got the Wisconsin cheddar cheese (their most popular and very delicious), as well as the california and house salads. I also tried the berry mojito and love martini. Both delicious and pretty strong! My boyfriend tried the mule and it was super refreshing. We thought the food was surprisingly super filling!! We went here just for the dessert but I will say the food other people ordered looked and smelled delish! I ordered the Love Martini and omg this was such a tasty drink. It was so refreshing I even ordered a second one. My friends loved their drinks as well. For dessert, we ordered milk chocolate fondue with some bailey's and candied pecans in it and all I could say was wow. It was so yummy. My husband and I have celebrated many special occasions here! He always requests one of the cozy, private tables in the back when he makes our reservations. The lights are dimmed and it is very romantic. We can barely see or hear the other diners. Sometimes he surprises me with add ons such as flowers, a bottle of wine, etc. When ordered at time of reservation, they have them waiting at the table when we arrive. We always order a four course meal and always leave absolutely stuffed. Our favorites are the California Salad, Classic Alpine cheese fondue, Surf and Turf entree, and any classic chocolate fondue for dessert. We've never really had anything here that we didn't like though. Everything has been delicious. Our favorite dipping sauce is the green goddess, so we always request extra. It goes so good with all the veggies. Service is usually pretty good. Not too many complaints there. I highly recommend making reservations.
