Fantastic place - I've been twice for brunch and a lunch, and both have been really excellent. Most recently I went for brunch with kids and my dog, we sat outside with some shade - I had the soysage grits to give the veg a try, and they were excellent. The time before that I had the veg corn-dogs which also were stellar. I am definitely a carnivore, but love both dishes. Plus, my dog felt at home with all the other friendly dogs and people. I really love the atmosphere of this place.. great patio... solid burgers. Great neighborhood spot. One major, major warning... they use scorpion pepper flakes on their extra hot wings... and they do not have any indication of this on their menu. Scorpio peppers are 1.5 million scoville units... hotter than a ghost pepper which comes in slightly above a million. My friend nearly went into convulsions when he took a bit of his wings, fully expecting just extra hot sauce and not deadly pepper flakes. He wasn't right again for a good then minutes. I tried one of the wings and had a similar experience, minus the convulsions! Management... put a warning on your menu. Great pub style foods in EAV. Though I call it pub food, the menu is pretty unique. They have homemade corn dogs, a pork belly sandwich, tots with dipping sauces galore, pimento cheese fritters, chicken and waffles, wings -- and that's only the appetizer section! The corn dogs are nice and crispy, and the dipping sauce is mustardy and sweet. The tots are your basic tots, but they're never soggy, so that's a plus. Pimento cheese fritters = sexy gooey melty cheese filled cheese bombs. Oh baby, get some of those. The chicken and waffles is AMAZING. The chicken is so crispy-crunchy and savory, and the waffle is super soft. The whole thing is topped with sage and syrup. I would eat that every day. The wings are great so long as you don't get the traditional hot flavors -- they're kind of plain. I really love ordering the wings with the Alabama white sauce or the Georgia peach BBQ. The Alabama sauce is creamy and tangy, and the peach BBQ is lightly sweet with a smoky and slightly spicy zing. Yum-o. Oh man, and the cocktails! So creative. And the beer list is long and features lots of local brews. I also love the game area. There's a big shelf full of board games, and there's a few arcade games as well. This place is pretty legit. It leans divey, but isn't gross and has a very artsy aesthetic. They mostly have bar food, but there are some interesting things on the menu. Though, it is going to be easy with people on restrictive diets. The bathrooms are a destination with a decoupage of magazines and pictures all over the walls. We sat at the bar, so our service level was quite high. They checked on us multiple times, but we were generally low maintenance. Both bartenders were super friendly but not overbearing. All I had was chicken wings, but they were delicious. I had never heard of "white bbq" -- which is also apparently called Alabama BBQ. It's a mayo-based sauce with a bit of a vinegary kick. WHERE to begin with how much I love this place. Midway has been our spot since we moved to EAV four years ago, when we were child free and mostly sat at the bar. But what I love is there's something for everyone here. It's laid back, it has an amazing local/craft beer selection, solid mixed drinks, and the bar food is above average (sometimes downright fantastic). Other reviews have noted poor service and occasionally dud food. This place isn't out to be fancy or appease snotty Yelpers, and you just have to be ok with that. No one is going to be rude to you, but they might forget you needed a water or something. I will say I think their service is a lot better than it was a couple years ago. The Midway is a true local watering hole, and definitely a staple in East Atlanta. You see your neighbors there, there are corn hole leagues and bocce courts, and the best patio in Atlanta. Sometime the waitstaff take a bit to get to you. But you are just taking in some sun and sights and it feels like your on a deck with 20 of your friends. 2. A great selection of beers and drinks. Any place that as a drink list in binder form is a win-win for me. If you sit at the bar, ask for a sample of something on draft if you have a fear of committing to something new. 3. The food is good. The tater tots are a win for me. I have had the burger, the Reuben, the shrimp and they were all good. This is a three and a half stars for me. I reconnected with an old friend at The Midway Pub on an early Friday evening. I am considering moving to the EAV area so I used this meet up as a chance to check out the vibe. I think this location embodies the vibe of EAV with the old games, local food, great beers and scotches, and general laid back vibe. However, the laid back vibe is also the reason for not getting the star. The staff here definitely aren't mean or bad in the traditional sense, they just aren't proactive which is the hallmark of good service. We ordered the appetizer of wings with the hot sauce. The wings were decent. No where near hot (spicy hot that is), but decent lightly fried juicy wings with no feathers! Unfortunately, we had to wait for them to bring us the small plates for a solid ten minutes. Well actually my friend waited while I just ate the wings with my hand under chin. If I move into this area, I know I will go back because of the patio and the abundance of plugs and free wifi. Bring a coat, a jacket or a pashima!! I went there about 2 months ago and they hadn't gotten the outside furniture yet. I had a beer, and the ambience and decor, the gathering of people felt nice, less ink on this round than on my last visit....but the general temp was not! The Midway Pub is a busy little place that's located on Flat Shoals Road in the heart of East Atlanta Village. Yesterday a friend and I decided to make our way to the Midway Pub so that we could utilize our buy one get one coupon with Atlanta passbook. We arrived and noticed that there is a huge celebration going on & some sort of event. It was the East Atlanta strut and there were tons of people out and a lot of people decided to congregate towards the Midway Pub. We find a seat out on the large patio and hear the buzz of everyone enjoying craft beers as well as pub food. I've noticed that once you get pub food it's warm and comforting and it's something that is a definite go to whenever needed. I'm excited to see that there are many options including a vegetarian option as well as a vegan option. I choose the vegetarian option which is their grilled cheese sandwich that is loaded with American as well as cheddar cheese cherry tomatoes and a sweet balsamic vinegar I also see that there is a little bit of Rosemary hiding in there as well. I bite into this sandwich and take in the aroma of the Rosemary having a great time with the balsamic vinegar. I happen to be a huge fan of craft beers and the pub has one of my favorites. Allagash White is an amazing craft beer that's light sweet and delicious. If you're looking for a great place to hang out with some friends or even just with family members I would definitely suggest Midway Pub. read more

I literally just left Midway Pub and I can say this place has truly changed! The last time I was there it was a vibrant and fun atmosphere filled with people and the service was good! I guess the pandemic made them change their business model quite a bit and it's pretty bad! We had to order at the front of the restaurant and then took our seat outside on the patio, which only had a two tables with guest. We had a friend who wanted to watch the NASCAR race so I went back inside to see if they could change the channel so I found the manager, Nate. Nate is the short, bald white guy who has been mentioned negatively in other reviews. He was quick to tell me that he would not be changing the channel as they are only showing local sports. I told him that none of the other guest were watching the tv and asked again if he could accommodate us. He refused and told us that we could come inside and watch it. I explained that we were already sitting outside and didn't want to sit in the dark and gloomy inside restaurant. He was firm in his position. I went back outside and found that the table had not been cleaned so I was going back in to have someone ti clean it. I was then told by my friend that the nascar race was being held in Atlanta which would make it a local sporting event. I went back inside with this info and found Nate again and asked him to clean the table and also that the nascar event was local. At this point he raised his voice as he stated that he was still not changing the channel. To this I told him not to raise his voice at me and he told me not to tell him what to do. He proceeded to our table to half clean it and I asked him to come back and hit the spots that he missed. To this he blurts out "Jesus Christ!". Horrible customer service and a terrible manager! I have never seen a manager as bad as this! Very confrontational and unaccommodating. I hate to play the 'card' but how do you explain this bs service! The food is not good enough to treat customers like crap and expect them to look the other way. I hope and pray that Nate takes the time to respond directly to this review. I will never come back to this establishment nor will I recommend it to anyone. I know the locals love this place but I refuse to spend my money in a place where I'm disrespected! Nate should consider taking some training classes and understand how to run a restaurant and provide good customer service. read more

Great neighborhood place! Went here for a quick lunch when some friends were planning to go for a World Cup game. We looked over the menu to see if we'd be able to find veggie items - rare for a sports bar and/or beer joint. And at even some of the nicest local places, the veggie plate is uninspired and just plan boring to us foodie vegetarians. We were pleasantly surprised at what we found: veggie corn dogs, veggie chili, tater tots and the very inventive veggie plate of a cactus salad all sounded amazing! So we ran over that same day, and loved it! We got in just before it started pouring, and we settled in for a longer than expected lunch. While the storm swirled outside, we were dry, full and happy, ensconced at the bar, noshing on our lovely veggie fare, and an excellent cocktail or two. The bar service was great - friendly, efficient, and knowledgable. THE BONUS: in addition to great veggie options and delightful cocktails (and of course, the great beer list but that's to be expected), there's a really decent wine list as well - also very unusual for a pub. I'm a huge Reuben fan and if I see one on the menu, I cannot help but to try it. I was extremely pleased with the thick cuts of meat and the overload of super sour sauerkraut. I also tried out their Chicken & Waffles appetizer. Crispy waffles, crunchy chicken drizzled with a super tasty sage syrup. It wasn't really busy as it was late on a week night but our otherwise friendly and cheerful service was spotty. We ended up waiting quite a bit for refills and our check but the ambience on the patio and the company I keep kept me entertained while waiting.
