Ftom amazing staff to delicious and affordable food, it's sun/win. Who needs hipster yuppie restaurants when Mini Gourmet offers it all with humble polite servers. We had a group of six, so I got there early to score one of their extended tables. It's basically two booths for attached by a barrier, which, when taken down can make it a table for eight. Mini Gourmet is a very small mom & pop diner located in the Yorba Linda Center shopping center (on the corner of Rose Dr & Yorba Linda Blvd). It is easily accessible, and there's a decent amount of parking. It is a single-wide storefront, so in order to maximize seating, only booths are available. They do have some chairs stacked by the front, so I suppose they would put one out for you by request. If I had to guess, the owners are big Dodgers fans since the decor is comprised of some Dodger baseball shirts and all sorts of other baseball-themed decor. The kitchen is small but functional, and can be observed from anywhere in the dining area. The servers were courteous and efficient. So, the food. First off, pricing and portion size is pretty comparable to chain diners such as Denny's and IHOP. Based on other reviews I had high hopes for the food, but I was not impressed. My son ordered the chili cheese fries (which he said were just okay), my daughter ordered the biscuit breakfast (which she enjoyed), and I ordered the gourmet omelette (the menu description sounded delicious, but I was disappointed in the flavor, the green chile sauce made it too watery--I didn't even finish it). Another gem found because I checked Yelp. Don't let the name fool - this is good old fashion comfort food. Very few places have a hot turkey, or open face turkey sandwich anymore. And those that do, it's pretty average. The Mini Gourmet has a winner. It's small, only open for breakfast/lunch so it closed at 2. We arrived around 1:30 and never felt rushed even thought they only had 30 minutes to go. There's a sign asking to wait to be seated - well that wait was about 10 seconds before a nice gentlemen told us to take any seat against the wall, which is all booths, and what we prefer. Perfect. In a culture where everyone is nickel and diming the customer as well as being chintzy with portions and simple things like condiments, they still have a nice bowl and jelly (instead of asking what flavor you want to giving you one) and a little dish of crackers as opposed to 1 or 2 packages with your soup. Yes it's a little thing, but it makes a different in the way they treat their costumers. The soup was plentiful with more substance and meat than broth. The roast beef sandwich was delish and made with fresh ingredients. They passed the drink re-fill test with flying colors. That's huge for me. Get that drink refilled before I suck the dry air out of the straw. Even a nice touch before we were ready to leave if I wanted another refill. I declined as we really were getting ready to leave, but the fact that they offered just makes you feel valued and again, not rushed as they were about to close. Best part - very reasonably priced! With iHop recently jacking up their prices, it's nice to find a meal for under $10/per person. Thank you. We don't do breakfast very often as we're passionate about sleeping in, but I will definitely try this place again next time I'm forced to get up earlier than I want. read more

Oh my goodness! What a nice surprise! The Mini Gourmet is an amazing little diner with delicious food. I ordered the Gourmet Burrito which consisted of 2 flour tortillas filled with scrambled eggs, diced home style potatoes, chorizo, avocado, cheddar cheese and sour cream. I had no idea that 2 flour tortillas actually meant TWO burritos! My 85 year old mom ordered the same thing, so of course we asked for "to-go" boxes as well. If you have a huge appetite, you might be able to get through both, but any normal size appetite will only allow one of these babies into your belly. The flavors were such a wonderful combination. I'm not a big fan of breakfast sausage or ham, so the chorizo was a very nice addition for me. They also bring a mild salsa on the side. I skipped it but mom really liked it and asked for a small container to go for her take out. The owner's, Caesar and brother, Anceforo are very nice and make sure your visit is everything you'd want in a restaurant experience. The food was quite delicious and there is plenty of parking for those going. In the big plaza, there are other food options but this is a hidden gem that I enjoyed. Like a family-owned breakfast spot, they had a good variety of beverages and plenty of seats. Many were booths and they could accommodate bigger parties and smaller, alike. I was a bit annoyed with how loud some people spoke on speaker phones but it was simply because they were so comfortable there. The endless coffee was a good sign of friendliness. Their meals are hefty portions and with good and firm flavors. It made me feel at home and comfortable with what I had been annoyed with before. Although I kept sinking in the warm seats, I was also quite happy with the texture of the foods and the overall scent. It was tempting, delightful, and I can't complain about the food at all. Multiple owners over that time but the current owners are two brothers who were the servers for many years. They saved their money and bought the place. What a great American success story! I was told about this place recently by a friend and since breakfast is my "Jam" I had to give it a go. First off the location doesn't look like much, the decor is quant and full of Dodger Fandom, and from what I was told a favorite spot of Tommy Lasorda, so yeah another reason to come here. I tried the Gourmet Omelette, and man was it good! The chili verde sauce with pork was perfection and I was honestly very pleased with the choice to have cottage cheese, or various fruit instead of always having boring hash browns as a side. As this is my first time here I decided to also try their bowl of chili, and it was on point as well, and don't get me started on the toast. This stuff is like buttery crack. Mini Gourmet is a hidden gem located in a shopping district in Yorba Linda. This diner is like a mom and pops restaurant. The restaurant has character and is filled with Dodgers Baseball history and memorabilia. The breakfast is delicious! I recommend "The Motherload." It's scrambled eggs with chili and cheese on top. The breakfast entree usually comes with sour cream and avocado on top, but I'm allergic to avocado and do not like sour cream. Overall, the dish was delicious and my girlfriend had the waffles and they were absolutely delicious as well! The service was phenomenal and we were able to get in and out of the restaurant quick. They are great at refilling drinks and the servers are great at checking in with guests. Overall, my girlfriend and I's experience was phenomenal! The servers were attentive and took our order as soon as we sat down. I appreciated that. The food came out really fast as well. I ordered the waffle with a side of hash browns. The hashbrowns were good, I don't think you can really go wrong. The waffle was pretty tasty as well. My boyfriend got the pancakes which I would probably get next time. They were perfect! Overall, the food is good but it's nothing special. It's sort of the equivalence of dennys. I do like how it's more personal though rather than a chain! It was a refreshing change of pace.
