Thank you Oprah and to my friend for introducing me to their english muffins. They come 6 in a packs, but you'll want more! Recently discovered it and had it shipped, super fresh and came with instructions. You'll need to store it in the fridge and eat it within 3 days or freeze. I eventually needed to re-up and drove out to the St. Helena location, but pre-order it to guarantee your stash. It was an easy pick up, just call and pull up. Make sure you've ordered at least 24 hours in advance, I think they close out sales if you get to close to your planned pick up day/time. I haven't tried anything else, but looking for recs. I'm sure i'll be visiting again soon. read more

This place is just wonderful. The coffee is delicious , I got an 8oz double shot vanilla oat milk latte. The carmelita bar is just to die for. And of course the breakfast sandwiches can't be beat. Definitely come here when you're in Napa valley. read more

I'm torn, mostly disappointed. Their breakfast chorizo wrap was delicious, but for being a bakery, their baked goods were a big let down. The chocolate chip, oatmeal, Mexican wedding and peanut butter cookies were all dry and bland. The lemon bar was like eating straight sugar, and it was dry. read more

Their breakfast sandwiches are everything everyone says they are. Heaven! They're all about in the $7-8 range. I had the veggie, the husband had the sausage. The English muffin was perfection, not too bready and nicely toasted. The veggie included pickled onions and aioli which made it super flavorful. The sausage was delicious and not too greasy. I will say that about the only thing that is worth visiting the Model Bakery for is their English Muffins. They are amazing, will cost you a small fortune, but amazing. Service is so so, and there is always flys on the food because it is not in a case. Not a fan of their coffee and prefer other places in town for that. Pricey as it is on Main Street. read more

This is my go to bakery, one of my favorites in the whole Bay Area + greater Bay Area. My other favorite bakeries in the Bay is Fournee in Berkeley and B Patisserie in SF. If you come here early in the day, day old bread go for $3 a bag. Bags might have pastries, rolls, bread, etc or an assortment of about 4 or 5. Still pretty tasty!!! My favorite items here is the: - pain Au levain break drum ($9.95 or $2.25/quarter ) I love the taste of this bread, supposedly it's the bread recipe from the levain Provence in France? I love the sponginess and how the bread bounce back when you press into it. It has very good texture, soft, tasty, touch of sourness (subtle), and moist - bacon bread - forget what the real name is but this loaf is filled with bacon bits that surprisingly keeps the bread more moist for a longer period of time. The taste is subtle but perfect, since it is not overwhelming. - English muffin - I love the bread texture, its springy, and snappy unlike any other English muffins that I have had If you visit wine county next time or live around here and have never stopped by, please do!!! not the best bakery i've been to, but their fruit tart is delicious and so are their english muffins. I'm a big fan of baked bread, so I love getting a loaf and munching on it between wine tastings when I'm in the area. Nothing so amazingly great about the place, but nothing to brag about either. I'd say it's right in the middle. Good, but not amazing. THey serve sandwiches and salads and other lunch items, so it's a really convenient place to grab something light. It's tasty. Love this bakery! The cookies and bread are delicious, and they also have a small gelato and sorbet selection, where I had white peach champagne sorbet for the very first time - amazing! There's ample seating with a lot of locals reading their papers or shooting the breeze... good times. Lovely bakery. Ina Garten review of their homemade English muffins was spot on. Had the turkey breakfast sandwich and loved it! The English muffin was crispy around the edges, yet chewy. I'm a breakfast sandwich connoisseur. Whether it's on it English muffin, bagel, or just sandwich bread, this was one of the nicer sandwiches I've had. I also brought pastries home and have nibbling my way through the box. If you like being looked down on this is the place for you. My husband and I walked in to order coffees while we were in St. Helena. The man at the register did not greet us or say anything. He looked at me in the most off putting way that I just felt so uncomfortable and decided not to order. I honestly have no idea why he was like this. I said nevermind I don't want anything and he gave the same disgusted look to my husband. So we left without ordering. Such a shame that someone like this is representing the business. Popped by on a Sunday afternoon for quick lunch and was not disappointed! The sandwiches here are incredibly fresh and the bread is top notch! Not to mention this is probably the most affordable lunch spot in all of St. Helena. Although there isn't any signage about it (which I like) Oprah's favorite English muffin is the Model Bakery's and it is definitely worth a try! Only downside, they don't have a bathroom. read more

This is a cute bakery with a nice selection of cookies, cupcakes, and other lovely treats. Many of the decorated pastries were festive and decorated for the holidays. They also had sandwiches to go. The service was good because it was quick and polite. Both the tea and the coffee were excellent. The basket also offered almond milk for my tea. Sadly, didn't eat here, so I can't comment on the actual food, just the drinks and service. Hopefully, I'll be back so I can rate the food. read more

This is the original Model Bakery. There's a new one attached to Oxbow Market in Napa as well. This place is exactly what I expect of a bakery; counters of cookies, racks of fresh baked breads an espresso machine and a smattering of casual delicious lunch offerings that include soup, sandwiches and salads. They brew Stumptown coffee which definitely makes me a happy girl. My only regret is that I never see the luscious bread pudding that made me a Model Bakery believer back in 1999. Ahhh, oh well. I can console myself with a cup of Stumptown and a giant almond macaron Cookie. Incidentally, the black and white checker tiles would Instagram beautifully. read more

But can take a while during the busy time. Food: you have to try the English muffin. It's fried. Loft with a nice chew. You can eat it plain or smother butter and jam.
