We came 5/25 for lunch. I got the club sandwich and when she handed me the basket there was a long hair with it, we both saw it and she apologized and took it back. The food prep station is out in the open so after about a minute of the other lady trying to pull the hair off, she simply asked for a new basket, picked up my sandwich and flopped it on there and emptied the basket of fries and pickle on top. For a $20 sandwich, you'd think there would be something corrected or at least new fries (where the hair was). I still tried to not be difficult and ate it but I've had stomach issues since then!!! This is a very iconic place in Georgetown. Such a homey feeling and the food is great. I've been coming here for over 10 years and will continue choosing this place just because. Holy COW! The prices are outrageous! $7 for one pancake? $14 for two??? You can't get "Normal Bacon" here, only over peppered crusted bacon. Not a crowd pleaser whatsoever! The Florentine Benedict was ruined for another order due to Onions & Garlic in the Spinach which was overwhelming. Skimpy on the bland hollandaise sauce as well. The prices for breakfast "Anything", is ridiculously price gauged. Look at the menu prices before you go. What they are asking for the simplest lunch sandwich is shocking!! We could have all gone out to a steakhouse for rib eye steaks, loaded baked potato, Ceasar salad, vegetables, with bread and butter for what this place charges for anything but normal. This is the comfort food diner (but better) I dream of when I'm at home in CA. It's fantastic! All kinds of breakfast favorites, including my one and only love, Eggs Benedict! It was delicious. Monument Cafe is a family favorite when we're in Georgetown. Onetime it was very crowded & we waited about 30 minutes, another time we got sat right away. The serves are so sweet and helpful. The menu items I order are a pretty basic breakfast and very good. I LOVE the biscuits & one time I tried the cinnamon roll. It was different & yummy. My husband had the chicken & grits. The chicken wasn't his fav but he said everything else was very good. We also love that is a cute old style diner. This place is always bustling on the weekends, with frequent hour-long waits for a table. My in-laws love it, and clearly others do too, but it's not my favorite. Service is great, with very friendly and welcoming staff who pay close attention to dietary restrictions. The food is fine, but about on par with an IHOP. It's the kind of place where the seats and tables are always faintly sticky and you can carb up for a reasonable price. There aren't enough restrooms for the amount of visitors, so make sure to get in line with your kids before they hit "emergency" bladder level. If you're craving general breakfaat, it's a great local option, but I wouldn't put it on a must-visit list. read more

The hostess rolled her eyes and said "well the counter is first come first serve, soooooooo..... I guess yeah". I ordered a simple lite plate (1 egg, 1 meat, potatoes and toast) and it was delicious! Potatoes were seasoned sooo well and not cold. I loved the -strawberry- jelly given to me with my toast. Our group of 3 decided on a veggie burger, cheese burger and grilled 4 cheese sandwich. The burger was partnered up with one of their homemade chocolate milkshakes which was very good. To be honest, I was expecting a slightly better version of a meal served at Denny's, but it definitely exceeded that expectation. The veggie burger was very good and it turns out that they actually make it from scratch here. For the money, they deliver good quality grub and the service was perfect. We stopped in for a late brunch and ordered the avocado toast, the Mickey Mouse pancake (for our grandson), and an omelette; and every dish was excellent. The avocado toast was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. Fresh avocado, perfectly seasoned, layered over rustic bread with just the right crunch. A little red pepper and a squeeze of lemon gave it a bright finish. The Mickey Mouse pancake was a hit (not just cute), but fluffy and golden-brown with just the right amount of sweetness. Our grandson cleaned his plate, which almost never happens unless it involves mini donkeys or marshmallows. The omelette was generous, packed with fresh veggies and gooey cheese, and cooked just right (no dry edges). The side potatoes were crisp and nicely seasoned. The service was warm and attentive, the coffee was solid, and the overall vibe was relaxed and welcoming; perfect for a Sunday morning in the heart of Texas. We'll definitely be back. The man who spearheaded this effort, is a true ambassador, sincerely concerned you are enjoying your meal, and welcoming. I thought he may have been the owner based on his dedication. If he was the manager, he deserves employee of the year. My son had the classic egg breakfast with bacon. He thoroughly enjoyed it. He mentioned the bacon was perfect, great quality, and peppered. I had the eggs with corned beef hash and two perfect biscuits. Both dishes were served with homemade strawberry jam which was some of the best we've had. My poached eggs were on point and the hash full of flavor, with potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, and poblanos. We ordered one pancake for the table because we're not quitters... It was a top 5 pancake on our list. We are particular about this breakfast classic and it exceeded our test. The one problem? We had no room to try a slice of homemade pie. We will return. Wow - almost 15 years have passed since my previous review. I am happy to report that the service issues that plagued Monument in that era are blessedly a thing of the past, and the Cafe replaced the tiny little coffee cups they used to have with good-sized mugs so you don't have to have refills every three sips. Breakfasts are the main attraction here, with the aforementioned biscuits now served free if you order other food. You can get pancakes, migas, eggs florentine and benedict, and the most humoungous breakfast tacos on the planet along with more typical breakfast fare. Lunch is mainly sandwiches, burgers, or several kinds of chicken/fish/CFS plates and salads. Dessert features include absolutely exquisite fresh-baked pies. The place rocks a 40's-50's vibe and given its open nature is relatively quiet. It is a pretty regular weekend stop for us (note: you'll wait in line if you get there most any time after 8AM) and we'll miss it when we leave the area later this year. read more

Don't let that deter you from a visit. The coffee is fabulous and they even sell bags of it! We had the brunch drink flight. Monument Café is a popular café in the center of Georgetown, TX. It was originally in a small location, but relocated to the larger place it is in now. The older one is just a few miles south of this location, and is a miniature version of this one (empty building). I've been here several times and I find it to be a good spot for comfort food and a relaxing atmosphere. I usually get the 3 eggs and meat breakfast and choose the sausage (which is good). I got a side of bacon, but it always seems over cooked and very hard cut-through. The Irish porridge is good and has a great consistency, coming with nuts, berries, and brown sugar. The old-school diner vibe is great, and very popular with the older population of the town. There's not many options for breakfast for large families in Georgetown, so this is generally go-to place for most people. Overall, good atmosphere, service, and staff, while the food is average and quite expensive ($5 for a small glass of orange juice). Worth a visit for a dining flashback. read more

We sat in our booth and were delighted by the simple yet impactful menu. We had a late brunch and orders the Migas (waitress recommendation) and the chicken and biscuits. The migas were a hit with their homemade beans. For the migas we opted for a chocolate chip pancake which was the star of the day. The chicken and biscuits could have been a bit better. For clarity we came an hour to closing so I think the chicken was not the freshest it could have been. The biscuits though were crisp and fluffy. I opted for no gravy and did over easy eggs.
