We stopped by on a Friday night, it was our second stop of the night. I must say this place was more lively than Otro Bar but I am not sure what was so great about this place either, it was mediocre- drinks, vibe and nighttime view. Service was okay. Fantastic place for a date night. The views around downtown are truly fascinating at night. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time to guarantee service. As a tip, you'll have to go in through the hotel to the 20th floor. Fantastic atmosphere with matching decor and music. The front of house staff was quick and responsive to getting us a table. This place is awful. You drive into the valet at the Thompson and it smells like a sewer, they told us it was from the grease trap. We went to celebrate two friends for their birthdays. Apparently this place is "service optional" we waited over 45 mins to get our drinks, they were the only thing good about this place. The food took another 45 mins after that, appetizers came out after entrees, everything was cold and somethings were completely forgotten. It wasn't even busy. At two separate points during our insanely long wait employees transported food stock across the restaurant (think armfuls of lettuce heads and a cart of raw meat). 0/10 would not recommend. read more

We made it to the top & it was very swanky. When making reservations you can pick either the lounge (inside) or outdoor dining. I will say that the inside has ambiance but it is very dark! We got sat outside & the view is beautiful ya'll! Ariel was our server & she was amazing! My cocktail of choice was All That's Nice. Food was absolutely divine as well. If you imagined a rooftop lounge with great food and drinks this is the bar of your dreams. The views are breathtaking. The staff is amazing (thank you Jaden Smith for world class service), the drinks are like candy. You can make a reservation online for lounge or table and honestly we started at 4pm. We are barely leaving at 8pm but plan to make our way back here by the end of the night for the night life. The food is amazing, quick, and hot to serve. I orded a salad during to my food allergies and was given a salad the had nuts. After specifically telling the wait staff I was severely allergic to all nuts. I asked for a balsamic dressing and I was told they only have one type of dressing and it is made with nuts. MOONS DAUGHTER is trash, the menu is subjective, and they do not accommodate for food allergies. Other then the view the food is without a doubt disgusting. It was super chilly/windy and after asking many times, they finally got us blankets (service was a bit slow unfortunately and our waiter was super forgetful, hence why we had to ask multiple times). The view is great nonetheless, but the weather made it a little less pleasant. The Tripoli drink stood out to me (as it's named after a city in Lebanon which I thought was super cool). It was exactly what you'd want in a cocktail: sweet, refreshing, and pretty. The Fried Calamari is a definite skip for me. It was too chewy and the pieces were too big. The Toro Tare Tar was delicious; super fresh and unique. The Beef Burger actually surprised me; the beef was cooked to a perfect medium and seasoned well. Their fries are also so crispy and addictive! Now at this point, we were stuffed but we knew we had to get the Bruléed EVOO Cake, and let me tell you if you're going to come for anything - let it be this and the cocktails. This cake was super-rich, dense, and sweet. It was a nice mix of savory and sweet palettes which I enjoyed. All in all, The Moon's Daughter was a great spot to end the night. We went on a Wednesday evening to The Moon's Daughters (inside the Thompson hotel) for my friend's birthday. We had a reservation in one of the outdoor areas, and our waitress was super kind and helped us change tables because, in the area where we sat, the sun was extremely intense (hence hot). The restaurant is elegant and has a spectacular view, to enjoy San Antonio's sunset. The place was busy, but that didn't affect the service. We ordered everything to share, everything arrived on time, and the service was excellent. We ordered the fried calamari, the grilled octopus skewers, and the roasted beets--everything tasted fresh and delicious. Overall, I had a great night and really enjoyed the place and its atmosphere. This is the worst experience I have ever received. I take my business partner out to celebrate. My drink was nasty so i replaced it and the Dino rib was super hot on the bone but cold in the middle, so we replaced with the way. The complaint from the chef was that the stoves were already off but spending $300 on food and having any type of complaint or back and forth at that moment was unprofessional. If the ovens were off and they didn't want to cook they could've took off the rib or accommodated another way. Instead they kept staring at us all night like we did something wrong. As we were trying to leave we were about to exit the wrong door on accident and were approached by 4 big and nervous people almost running to see what we were up to. The receptionist, security guard, host, and another big man, all came to "check" on us. I felt like a criminal instead of a first time customer that just received horrible service. The waitress that was serving us was the only highlight, she also mentioned that the service was so bad because they had a Valentine's Day they were prepping for. I have had better in Tucson, but I won't knock them too hard. The drinks were fabulous I got this Rose vodka drink ( a few of them) and wished the whole time I took an Uber there as I was staying near the river Walk. DO NOT TELL THEM ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY ON THE RESERVATION. - I filled out a reservation about a month before to celebrate a birthday of a friend I had coming up. The 2 of us arrived and were seated quickly which was very nice. It took about 20 minutes for a waited for come around and they had 2 glasses of champagne for us saying " Happy Birthday " as they sat them down. It was a nice gesture since we had not ordered them. However, we took a small sip with a toast and were not the biggest fans so we left them full on the table. Waited continued to ask about them and we told her we just didn't like it - Hence we never ordered it! **** To finish this off - we receive our bill with 2 **** glasses of champagne on it and were so over **** the experience. Signed and left! 2. Ordered a burger which you will see in the pictures. The burger was completely raw. So raw you couldn't even pick up the meat from the bun. I didn't even say anything and the waiter noticed by herself and proceed to say she will take care of dinner tonight. She came back commenting to us she could tell our experience hadn't been going so well due to the slow service amongst other things so hoping a free dinner would help. I've been to many openings and now restaurants and I totally understand issues that arise from just that. However, this was far past those issues. 3. We ordered Appetizers, main course, and desert. We wait and wait for the wait to come take our payment. We receive no ticket or anything to see the bill which we proceed to ask about due to the issues and her saying are dinner was covered. I had a glass of wine and other thing so I knew we would have some sort of bill. She tell us she still needs a card for payment and will bring us the bill. We give her the card - we wait about 20 minutes and I grow impatient. I'm a very patient person but issues were beginning to stack up. I find her taking to a group of waiters and she apologizes and say she needs to go across the restaurant and grab our ticket. We wait another 10 - 15 minutes standing around inside as we try to keep an eye out for her. I take off again to find here to talking to someone else at the front room of the restaurant. She literally jumps and rushes to grab our ticket. Hands it to me - turns around and just walks off! I couldn't believe all of it. I didn't want to believe it really. ******* I OPEN THE BILL ********* 1. We see that we actually paid for the champagne that we did not order. I want to say totally $30 2. We paid for everything but the burger. I like to pay for the things I have & order when I am out especially when there is good service that warrants a good tip! However, do not tell us one thing and show us a bill saying another. On top of showing us we are paying for things we did not order. Hopefully the service and food can get locked in with more time under its belt. We need restaurants and ambiance like this in town. However, we need it done right and efficient. read more

The food was great. Hummus 10/10 so good and the spices in it were great, the feta cheese added a good balance to the whole plate. The calamari was breaded, If I remember correctly and it was very good, very different from other calmaris I've tasted. I ordered the Gamas and they were very delicious and filling! You could honestly order a little of everything and share. The views were great the only thing I would add that was disappointing was the service. Although our waitress was very nice and helpful, the way the dishes and drinks are described is awful. Nothing to see here besides the display of octopus arms dangling to the San Antonian sky. Late Night Braise | I was told by a friend that I may like this entrée. Oh, how wrong he was. I appreciated the display of a large piece of lamb in front of me lying over a bed of chickpeas... but the glaze didn't seem to penetrate the skin too well and left the lamb tasting somewhat bland and boring. The chickpeas were good - but that isn't too difficult to do... seasoning, some of the flavors from the lamb glaze... and ... boom. It's also a very large portion. Not easily completable. Maybe not the greatest choice in front of a date either. Very upsetting - wish I would've just gone with a burger instead. This is hot spot for drinks, view, and apps, but maybe try something else for a full-course meal. read more

They had us sit inside the lounge. Hour goes by and the party leaves. I go up to the host stand where this rude guy who already has a condescending tone and attitude Keeps telling me no because he has other reservations coming in. Why would we make a reservation for something we aren't getting. They charge you 25$ per person when you cancel. My friend got her drink and to make her day better i say let's just go outside and get your pic at least. And the rude condescending man is yelling at is we arent alowed here. Is reservation only. Very cool rooftop restaurant in San Antonio, located on the top floor of a hotel. I definitely recommend making a reservation as then you'll get a table and designated area. The view was beautiful and it was a cold night to be outside and try to enjoy. Surprisingly there is no heat lamps out on the rooftop which is strange. The restaurant needs to have better staff. The first time visiting and definitely will be my last. I have many food restrictions, but normally can always find food on a menu. The fact that they were out of several foods was annoying. So many mix ups not with the waiter, but with the kitchen. Food was very well presented, but if only they could of gotten the order right would of been better the vibe is chill and has great places to take photos. I feel that being that is an upscale restaurant, the service could of been better.
