We made a reservation for a bday brunch in the picture window area. We were allowed to bring in balloons and some table decor. The lake view was really nice. Email communication was amazing! Very responsive and answered all my questions. We were promptly seated, given menus and a few mins to settle in. Waitress took everyones order and all foods came out served hot and in a timely manner. Everyone enjoyed their food and the mimosa tower was great! The waitress was friendly and they were kind enough to store our cupcakes in the refrigerator until we were ready for them. Automatic gratuity was charged because we had a large party, which we didn't mind. They also broke up the bill as specified. We never felt rushed and enjoyed a wonderful brunch. Overall my daughter and her guests had a great time. No complaints, just a great experience. I had previously came in to try the crawfish and it did not disappoint! I was expecting it to be more fried on outside which is down that it wasn't ... but way to much breading. It tasted like thanksgiving stuffing... again not a bad crab cake just not the best I've had. The decorations in here are really cute. They were definitely going for a fun theme that would look cute in photos and I think they did a great job. Plus a large patio on the water, so it definitely has atmosphere. The drinks are better than you'd expect which is a big plus. Margarita on the rocks isn't too sweet or too tart. The food is usually a hit but can be a miss. The Hot Nashville Chicken Sandwich is delicious but I wouldn't call it hot personally. Not spicy, but it has spices. I will order it again because it tastes great. The burger is decent, but has come to me personally before with not everything on it. Not a big deal because it still tasted great and the server was super nice about it and fixed it for me. Pulled pork sandwich hits the spot. Overall the service and atmosphere were great. Could use a smidge more "oomf" with the food, but it is reliable to be good each time. Rating a 5 because we will certainly be back. read more

We always enjoy Moonshiners. We are seated quickly. The servers come by shortly to take our drink order. My husband often gets the Alex Bregman brisket and grilled cheese. It's very good. My husband and I wanted a casual dinner on. Sunday eve. We were promptly greeted and seated. I had the shrimp tacos and he ordered a burger. My shrimp Tacos were very good. The size of the shrimp was impressive. The panko crust was delicious. I chose to have the firecracker sauce on the side and ordered another sauce too. Only suggestion is to shred the cabbage rather than have the giant chunks. My husband said the burger was good. The fries were a bit cold and had two different kinds like they had run out? Not a lot is similar between this moonshiners and the one downtown. The one town town that has similar menu items somehow another they are able to prepare them with a lot better flavor . The service was average, but not great for an evening that was not packed in the middle of the week. The service was great not only with us but watched several tables the servers were always helpful. We had wings, BIG hamburger w/ fantastic onion rings, a couple of drinks, and one of the best chicken fried steaks I have ever had. Table next to us she didn't like something & over heard they would bring out a whole different order on them. Now that is taking care of your customers! This was our second visit to this cute place on the lake. First time was better; this time I made the mistake of not checking the check for accuracy. I was charged for the salad I did order, as well as the wrong salad they initially brought out to me that I told them was not what I ordered. The place was all but empty, lots of servers, so not like they were busy or anything. The restaurant has never been clean, not sure why. Maybe bc most go there to drink? Either way, I was overcharged, the food was just ok, nothing special, and.....I won't be back. Sad because I like watching the boats on the lake from this place. read more

First time ever at moonshiners atmosphere is very nice. The restaurants very clean great location great views now to the negative the pull pork tacos were really good. The burger for $15 was over salted and not very appetizing. Wasn't worth the service was poor. The waitress took seven minutes acknowledges when we got there Brought us. Our drinks took another 12 minutes for her to come over and take her order the thing that worried me though the food was out within three minutes. I don't know how you can cook a hamburger properly unless it's already pre-cooked that quickly I understand what the tacos pulled pork takes hours to make so keep that warm, but overall, I will try the place again and have the tacos read more

Fun new place on Lake Conroe! Giving it 5 stars because it's doing a great job of being what it is - a sports bar/casual restaurant. Don't expect fancy. Boat docks, outdoor patio, restaurant area, bar area with TVs and games. Very fun atmosphere. Service was fantastic. Catherine was very attentive and engaging. She took care of everything we needed. It was clear watching other servers that they were on top of their game as well. Limited wine and cocktail menu, but we enjoyed it. Menu had a variety of choices - and the food was really good. We had tomato soup, smothered chicken, and coconut shrimp - all of which we would order again! Oh - and dessert!! Vanilla butter cake! Yummy! So sweet we needed the whipped cream to tone it down. Wow! How things change in two months. Went tonight to finish out a good cheat weekend. Was very disappointed this go round at Moonshiners. Was looking forward to trying that Alex Bregman brisket grilled cheese. If I was Alex Bregman I would not have my name tied to that sandwich they make there. The idea is good but the brisket was half-warm total mush with no flavor. Looks like something purchased and scooped it out of a bucket. Not even sure there was any cheese on this grilled cheese. My girlfriend ordered a brisket sandwich that was supposed to be served with coleslaw added. No coleslaw and again barely warm and thesame mush. When they brought what was supposed to be coleslaw we were served this bowl of red cabbage with lord knows what dressing on it mixed with some jalapeno. Very disappointing. The fries were totally over cooked and certainly not homemade. See pictures. Nothing left to the fries. All were hollow like this. If I ever go back it will be just drinks and the nice lake view. To start off the decor is side is amazing! If you sit by the window you get a great view of the lake. Out front there is also the perfect photo op if you're a tourist or just want a cute picture to post on social media. Our server was very attentive and helpful when making an accommodation for the Bregman Grilled Cheese. The spinach and artichoke dip was AMAZING! Zero complaints from me. I've been putting off going here for a while because I was worried I'd be disappointed in the food (there have been quite a few restaurants here.) The atmosphere was wonderful. Emily was our waitress, she was excellent! And Ada was amazing as well!!!! The food was definitely better than anticipated!!! I recommend the Buffalo blue quesadillas, they were great. And I couldn't stop stealing the kids chicken tenders (so great.) Must try the drinks as well! read more

We went specifically for the boiled crawfish today and they were possibly the worst I've ever had at a restaurant and definitely the worst this year. Dry and over cooked. I didnt even finish. We visited on a Wednesday night, early April. Business was good, with big, loud groups inside and outside. The first impression is "Huge Sports Bar", as an interior wall stretching across the room features end-to-end TVs. We liked the vibe - very loud, happy, busy crowd. Not so great was our outside table, placed directly under a loud speaker. We did enjoy their playlist, but missed being able to talk to each other, or hear the servers. Service here is excellent - amazingly fast. The different young ladies that took our orders returned with drinks, apps, and entrees literally just a few minutes after ordering. Impressive! The food...not so much. Call this menu New American with a sports bar twist. The crab and crawfish cake is dense with filler, with no discernable crab bits. The fries, requested crispy, were limp and a little greasy. Better was the coconut shrimp - smallish shrimp but a great batter and dipping sauce. The pulled pork tacos were very good, and a very large serving of three for $14. Prices here are fair to high. High for Montgomery County, fair for a place on the water. Every outdoor table features an ashtray. We'll see if smokers turn the outside deck into a smokers' lounge. Signs state that lunch and brunch menus are coming soon. We'll be back to try those and hope for the same quality of service, maybe try a few different items from their menu. read more

Katherine (Hi Kat!) was one of the best servers we've had in the greater Houston area in quite some time. Top notch, could NOT have been better - and for that alone I give 4 stars. -1 star for cocktails - the bartender CLEARLY has a sweet tooth. Do yourself a favor and ask for any sweetener (agave or simple syrup) on the side. Kat did her best, and it was appreciated. A+ Pretzel appetizer. Could go a little easier on the salt, but it was hot, fresh and delicious. The cheese dip had a lot of flavor without being too heavy which was nice. A+ Fried Mushrooms. Dang. Large, fresh, properly cleaned mushrooms not from frozen and a light crispy batter that stood up to the moisture inherent in fresh mushrooms. B - Coconut shrimp. Yes, it's coconut but there was a marked lack of salt (which isn't on the tables, you have to ask for it) and an abundance of sweetness. A squeeze of lime did wonders. Neutral/C - Blackened chicken pasta. If that's blackened, honey chile, you are from the north (which I am and I STILL blacken harder than that). Lots of garlic, etc. but the dish was on the cold and one-note side, a little 'thick' with sauce. Go visit. It's quieter outside and the lake views are amazing! read more

The food is absolutely delicious and the restaurant is so relaxing but the service is horrible. We waited 20 minutes just to be greeted as we were getting up to leave we were asked to please stay. We saw our servers once. To bring our drinks and that was it. Above was a few months ago we went yesterday and the same issue. We waiting 20+ minutes and was never greeted. We left. We also walked in and there was women wearing close to nothing coming off of the water. Definitely not a family environment. We will not be returning. read more
