i stopped by one day to look at bikes and got a hard sell on a 96 honda vfr750 from a salesman named Jose. but i couldn't test drive it without buying it first. consignment rules, yadda yadda. about a month later, today, I considered the bike a reasonable buy and made a call to come down and do the deed, talking to a sales guy named Daniel. he said it could be done rather quickly and he was going to check on if the safety inspection was done on that bike yet, but it wouldn't take long. so i rode down there. I walked in, met Daniel, and then I asked if the safety inspection was done. Daniel said they don't do safety inspection until the bike is sold. i said "let's make it sold". Danial said the bike won't be ready until end of the day. IT WAS SITTING OUTSIDE IN THE LOT JUST LIKE IT WAS A MONTH BEFORE I said I gotta go. read more

They have helped me and my boyfriend before to get parts. That was nice. But when I came in by myself, absolutely no one gave me the time of day. I needed a helmet to ride as a passenger, and they had very limited selection. I didn't know which features I really wanted. After 15 minutes of looking and no one coming over to ask me what I needed, I left and used my $300 to buy a nice helmet somewhere else. read more

wrote a review on 12/4/2013 since then I didn't visit the motor café as I was very upset. After 8 month I decided to give it a try again. What a change !!! I never had any issue with the parts department, always like to go and purchase my parts and accessories there, they are very professional know their stuff and the prices are very well competing with other stores (as well as online price). I did have issues with the service department. Looks as they did a major overhaul there. Pete the service manager together with Kevin changed the service department behaviors to customer as well as the mechanics skills are much better suited for the job (I am not sure if they got new mechanics in), my motorcycle was fixed correctly from the first time and I didn't need to come back again and again as before. My service was scheduled and was completed on time, parts arrived on time. Way to go for the Motor Café team, I will sure recommend them. read more

I bought my first Ducati from here about 3 weeks ago. What I love about this place is that you walk in, you look around, check out a few bikes, and the whole time not a single salesperson came up and asked me if I need assistance. They let you know they are there if you want it, but they don't hover around you like vulture. I knew what I wanted (Ducati Monster 696), I saw they had it there, and the next thing I knew I was looking for a salesperson. They didn't pressure me at all and did whatever they could to get me the best deal in the bay (they really did, I went to a couple different dealerships around the bay and this place gave me the best price). Everyone is knowledgeable and if they can't answer the question as detail as they would like, they call in someone else. They are driven to make sure you get the most accurate information. Go there, buy a motorcycle... we need more out there so I feel safer. read more

Great experience with our purchase of a 2012 Ducati Streetfighter 848. We were not treated well by our local dealership in Monterey/Seaside so we found the same bike we wanted to purchase at the Motor Cafe. Our salesman was Daniel. A young and knowledgeable salesman who came in on his day off to sell us the bike. We called them and offered a price on the Ducati. They didn't accept our offer but did come back with what we felt was a fair price. So we made the 1.5 hour drive to Sunnyvale. Daniel agreed to meet us to do the deal in the morning, we were late because of traffic and he was waiting for us. We had no one to watch our 2 kids who are 1 and 3 and even though they were crying and running around trying to touch everything in site all the employees were calm and cool even though I know what they were thinking lol. ( only the ones with kids understand) minimal fingerprinting and no damage done. Success! Daniel took me out on a test drive on the brand new bike when my wife insisted I must absolutely love it for the amount of money we were about to spend. The test drive sealed the deal and I thanked Daniel and his manager for allowing the test drive as I know this is something any dealer doesn't really want. Can't say I blame them but I was ready to buy. The whole process took about 3 hours but that is because I ask a lot of questions about everything and the test drive was 7 miles. I told Daniel multiple times he could leave as we waited for my insurance to fax documents as I felt bad he was working on his day off. He did not mind at all and insisted he stayed until the deal was finalized. All went very well. We bought a ramp to load the bike into my trailer and the parts guy, forget his name , was nice and helpful and gave me a discount. When I buy my next Ducati there is no question in my mind that I will make the drive to Motor Cafe for my purchase and I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the market for a new motorcycle. read more

Brought 2 Ducati from here and both buying experience wasn't the best. Both time when i walked in, no one would greet me nor come see if i needed any kind of assistance until maybe 20 mins after standing around and walking past 4-5 workers. If you do decide to come here, i suggest seeing Jose as he was the only person that seem like he wanted to help me. Service side wasn't the best either. Went in for a couple of recalls and one of the recall was for my brake reservoir. After getting the bike home the following day when everything was done, i notice liquid fluid all over my front end. Upon my investigation i notice that the cap for the brake reservoir was completely loose. This could had been really bad should enough fluid dripped out, but luckily it didn't as my ride home wasn't far. I called them immediately and spoken to Dave to address that issue. His reply was "i dont think we touch that" but it clearly show on my invoice that they did work to it. It was upsetting that i didn't get any apologies. Also their "head" Ducati mechanic is one cocky guy. I try explaining an issue i had on my motorcycle but it doesn't seem like he care what i had to say and automatically blame it on the rider. Came back 3 time to try and have the problem fix but they were unsuccessful at it so I end up fixing it myself as i didn't want to deal with these idiot any longer. One last thing also was and oil leak that i located from the output shaft seal. I brought the bike in, and the next day i received a call that my warranty was voided due to the chain being too tight, strange because their Ducati tech had mention that to me on a previous visit and i asked him should i loosen it back up because i tighten it as the chain was slapping my swing arm, his word was to leave it as is because he don't want me to damage my swing arm. So i related this message to Dave and instantly with no hesitation he tells me that's not something his head tech would say. So basically he was calling me a lair. After that conversation i was totally done with this place. I retrieved my bike back and took it to another dealer that took care of everything. I will never give this place my business again. read more

I purchased a new Diavel Strada from Jose at the Motor Cafe, early in the year. I immediately lost my radio key. They had to re initialize the key, which they did at no cost. I stupidly lost the new one. The bike would not recognize the next key. This led to a major dash replacement, etc. These guys spent an enormous amount of time and effort on my Ducati and me. They were always friendly and followed up. Anyway, the bike is great now and everything was taken care of under warranty. I would like to thank Kevin, Peter, Nate, Jose and the rest of the guys for making, what was a nightmare, into a good experience. I'm so glad I bought my Bike from the Motor Cafe. read more

I look up part numbers by parts fiche diagrams. Each time I call and give a part number, the Motor Cafe has the part in stock, and for about 10% less than the listed price. The person on the phone assures the part is there by checking in person. It doesn't get much better than that. I did not buy my bike new from here. I have not had my bike serviced here. read more

Took my 2011 Ducati Monster 696 here for its 15k servicing. It was in pretty rough shape when I brought it in and now it's good as new. Rides great and looks better than ever. The technicians were super cool dudes and Eric was super helpful. Definitely going here again for future servicing. Just make sure you book at least a few weeks in advance. read more

My experience is with their service department. I brought my Ducati 848 in for engine stalling issue and it was never resolved. I had to leave my bike there for along time just for them to come back and tell me they don't know what's wrong with it and they wouldn't be able to recreate the problem. Brought my 1098S in for routine maintenance before a track event and John noticed that my rear tire had a deep split in the side wall that I hadn't noticed. Swapped out a new tire and went to the track with no issues. Attention to detail like that is important. I'll be bringing my bike bike to this place. read more

This is a review to detail my two experiences in dealing with the Motor Café. My first issue started when I needed help with the keyless ignition on my Ducati Multistrada. I asked them to do two things. One was to figure out the problem of why my keyless ignition was not recognizing my key FOB. The other was to reprogram my ignition PIN number because I had bought the bike used I did not have the PIN and in case I was to drop the key FOB and damage it so that I would then need PIN in order to start my motorcycle. They were able to diagnose the FOB problem (by simply selling me a new FOB) but didn't reprogram a new PIN for me and by the time they were done the shop was closing and the Tech had left so I had to take the bike home without having the PIN in case of emergency. The second issue was with my KTM 990 ADVENTURE. I had just purchased a 2008 KTM 990 Adventure and wanted to have the bike gone over with a tuneup and also one of the fuel lines was leaking and I wanted to have the fuel lines replaced. I called the Motor Café for an appointment but was told that even though they are And authorized KTM dealer they would not even look at my 990 Adventure no matter what year and no matter what the problem. They just wanted to have nothing to do with helping me. I called KTM North America and spoke to their Customer Service and they were quite confused and wanted to find out what was the issue with that bike that would prevent them from even looking at it. So, to summarize, I have had a very negative experience with the Motor Café thus far and will not be using them for my future service needs on any of my three motorcycles. read more

This is a review for the Sales department as well as the finance and parts departments. Over the last month or two, I've been in the market for buying my first bike, which is normally a fairly exciting process, but I had been to other dealers and they were attempting to talk me out of the bikes I was doing research on and interested in. Exact quote from a dealer in SF after they sold the 2 bikes I made an appointment to see: "we just sold the 2 696's a little while ago, but look at this 1200! It's a really nice bike!" Again... This would be my first bike. I have moderately limited experience as I have only ridden 2 other 250cc bikes. Nonetheless, I left that shop in a hurry, disappointed. I kept looking online and asked for some quotes via email, which is how I found out about The Motor Cafe - specifically Neal, who was very prompt about emailing me back and replying with straight answers for any questions I had. I made an appointment to take a look at the bike the following Saturday. Saturday my girlfriend and I come in at noon to meet with Neal and see the bike, he was outside with a customer so we walk in and take a look around, when he was free, he walked us straight to where "my" bike was being displayed - a fantastic Ducati showroom! There it was - a 2014 Ducati Monster 796 - my dream bike! I knew I was ready to put down for this bad boy, so we filled out all the paperwork and I got ready to have the finance department tell me my astronomical APR because my credit is less than stellar. It took a while because of some snags, but all in all, Bill - the Finance Manager - worked some things out and got me a great rate! Half of what other dealers were offering! Now this was around 3pm on a Saturday at this point, so the banks were closed and I couldn't put my down payment then and there, so they allowed me to come back 2 days later and get everything in order. Cut to Tuesday of that week, excited as I can be, drive down there with a coworker and talk to the parts manager for a new helmet and some Ducati swag and a cover for my new bike, he was extremely helpful and prompt with everything, in and out easy. Neal did a great job explaining all the features and functions of my new bike before I ever had to ask any questions. When I go to leave and follow my coworker back to my office, I stalled out of the parking lot (embarrassing much?) Neal comes out and helps me shake off my jitters and I ride through the parking lot a little bit to get a little more familiar with this bike (I thought it'd be identical to the other 2 bikes i had ridden) I zip off back to my shop and have since taken the bike out as much as possible (to get used to it and for how freeing it is). TLDR; Neal, Bill, and Dan helped me out a ton, especially with my first day jitters/anxiety. If you're anxious about your first bike purchase, they make it easy and effortless! Great shop and I'm looking forward to working with you guys with all my current -and future- bikes. read more

When I picked out my 899 panigale, I had my sister co-sign for me. She lives in San Francisco and could not make it down to sunnyvale to complete the necessary paperwork. I just can't believe that! They turned me down even before knowing what I wanted! My CBR 600 F2 needed a oil change and new tires. So I call them to have a quote. I do not know to how I talked, but even before asking what I wanted he ask me the type of bike I had (CBR 600 F2), then he said that typically they do not work on bike older than 15 years old because manufacturers discontinue parts... So I replied "So you do not want to touch my bike and you do not know yet what I want to have performed on it" He replied "Yes, maybe I should have ask you that before" I hang up... One of the easier dealers to work with. Tommy was a great salesperson. He wasn't pushy and respected your space. He was there when you need him and advocated for the customer. The negotiation process was straightforward and quick. Jose, the manager, and John were friendly and helpful for the pickup. They went went above and beyond and stuck around past closing to go over the bike with me. They would've got 5/5 stars except for the closing process which was fumbled. We had to go back and re-sign some paperwork. Just an annoyance to have to make another hour trip. I'd still recommend them but just make sure the financing part is verified and completed before leaving with the bike. read more
