I love a good cup of coffee in the morning. I was excited to see that this coffee shop sold Tiramisu Latte. I came in on a saturday morning to order a plain croffle & latte. The line wasn't too long, but a few people in front of me. I don't mind waiting for a coffee 10-15 mins (if you are really busy & packed) but 30 mins is a disapointment for one coffee. There was two workers in the morning. One barista and other is front cashier/food preper. The guy making the food is really nice and efficent. He checked up with me on my order and apologizes for the wait. And my food came out before my coffee. (I'm not sure if the barista is new, but man it was a lifetime before I get my coffee. He messed up on a few coffees by not reading the order and that took a set back too. He mentioned that he had previous barista experience at Starbucks. Thinking the drinks would at least be preppared faster...) Evently, the drink came out and it tasted yummy. I love studying here, it's always jam packed with students which is nice but I will say the drinks are very inconsistent. I love that there is now a coffee shop open until 10pm in Northpark. The drinks are pretty good, while a bit expensive, and I really enjoy their combo options! There is a pretty good amount of seating and it's cozy, but since it is close to colleges and there aren't many places open as late in that area, it usually is busy. As one person, I can usually find a seat. However, when I'm with friends, we don't have great luck. But still recommend because it is cute. read more

While I thought the interior of this coffee shop was nice, well kept, and clean.. their coffee was just another coffee place. Such a cute interior and a menu that made me have high expectations. I tried an iced Spanish latte.. just your average cup of coffee that did not taste like a Spanish latte. I also had their earl grey scone warmed up. They gave it to me in a container with some jam and butter.. and damn it was delicious.... This coffee shop is located in a huge parking center with a lot of parking and it had free WiFi. Was looking for a place to get some work done in Irvine and this place showed up. Ordered drinks and food. I did have to add sugar to my drink and dessert. Might be their style of cooking, if things are on the lighter or semi sweet side. Was trying to get some work done so I needed something to really boost my energy so added some of the Sugar from the condiments stand off to the side. This place is self-service so you order on a kiosk. Was pretty busy as I believe I came on a weekday. It has open Wi-Fi, which was nice, but it was pretty warm inside, so if you're looking for a place with AC to escape from the hot weather, this may not be it. Was able to land one of the tables inside the mini room in the location, which had better airflow and felt a little bit cooler. Does only have one restroom and with how crowded the place was, had to constantly guess if there was someone in there or not. They do outdoor seating if you're OK with that which I found a lot of people who were there to chat stay outside. I would say if you're catching up with friends, it's great. If you're looking for a place to study, just get there a little early to snag a spot. read more

This coffee shop is hard to find. My GPS and Google Maps just directed me to a large mall without any further directions. Mall has no directory. I had to circle the mall a few times before I found it hidden behind a building column or stairwell. When you go into the coffee shop, it is like you walked into a university library. No one is talking, just studying. Even the shop staff is quiet, and you have to order via an ordering display. My cappucino was small and expensive. The staff looked puzzled when I asked to fill it in my coffee thermos. They added a lot more milk, but only filled my thermos halfway. Not a real comfortable place unless you're a student. My drink was just ok. Not really my kind of place. read more

I'm a fan of The Mugs and have been to every one of their locations (Diamond Bar, Fullerton, and previously Westminster before that one closed) so I was excited when I saw that they were opening a location in Irvine in the former Sootha Coffee location. Compared to the locations in Diamond Bar and Fullerton, this one is much smaller. Since this location is new, they don't seem to have the holiday drinks from their other locations on the menu yet probably to not overwhelm the employees. read more

I've been here twice just for the siracha chicken croffle. This is the best thing ever, nice and crispy, fresh and I love the side of potato chips. I also got an iced matcha with a shot of espresso , this is the best (if not one of the best) dirty matchas I've tried in Orange County. I typically avoid this place because their coffee is overpriced and mediocre. The previous owner at this location at least offered better quality coffee. I made a reservation for the study room a week in advance for my child's study session with friends, but on the day of, they refused to prepare the room, claiming they don't have the reservation and even suggested I might be lying about it. The coffee is good, the ambiance is nice to study but apparently there is no rules to tie your hair up while working here. The baristas are making coffee and waffles with their hair down and it's not hygienic in my opinion. A lady in line told me she found a hair in her coffee cup once. My rating is based on their espresso drinks, which i didn't quite like. It tasted burnt or just had lack of flavors. It was a disappointment as I liked the coffee beans when it was Sootha and there isn't a good coffee spot in this area. I didn't see any light roasted beans for sale when I visited. I'm not sure if it was the quality of the beans or the calibration issue as the drinks (americano and latte) were too bitter in my opinion. I haven't tried any flavored drinks, which all sounded delicious and I see many positive reviews here, so I'd probably try those if I'm back. All of their espresso drinks are $5+ and come with two shots of espresso. The parking lot can be busy but I never have a problem finding parking. It's a cute spot with a few tables. I've studied here before but prior to the ownership change. The workers were very friendly. read more

Hot chocolate tasted like instant hot chocolate powder, but tasted even worse because it seemed watered down. Literally could barely taste any chocolate. Besides two hot chocolates there was also a chai latte that was also lacking flavor and very bland. Tipped after ordering and they were very rude. I didn't hear my name called so I went up and the drinks had been on the counter, guy barista seemed bothered I asked if it was my order. I came here to grab a quick coffee for the first time, since I had just dropped off a fam member at a local medical facility. They have no menus overhead to look at, so you have to order through their two kiosks. I had problem customizing my iced coffee the way I wanted since there weren't many options to choose from, that I had to just double check with the cashier I ordered it correctly. Once I was ready to sit down and wait for my drink, it was pretty packed inside and I had to go look outside instead to grab a seat. They have patio seating which I took on one of those. Shortly after, the cashier came to find me to ask for my receipt because she said their kiosks weren't working and they weren't receiving any orders so she needed to see what I ordered. My order took awhile to make since said inconvenience was in place. Once I received my coffee and chocolate croissant outdoors, I stayed a bit and just snacked on it there and drank a bit of my coffee before I had to leave back. The mocha iced coffee was good but nothing special, and the chocolate croissant was tasty, but because of its flaky bread texture, it was very messy and kept falling everywhere. I know that's not 'The Mugs' fault, it's the type of bread, but just a heads up to those that order this: have napkins handy and take a quick look in the mirror before talking with someone, you might have a little something right there All in all rating: 7/10 read more

First time in and the cashier was super nice and explained the different drink options. We went with the iced Banana Caramel Latte and iced Spanish latte. Both were great. The Banana Caramel Latte was unusual in all the right ways. Great change of pace to the mundane coffee shops with ample seating. Oh and the caramel was fresh in the glass! read more

I love local coffee shops but usually too busy to check them out but with my daughters dance class practically next door, I needed a pick me up. Saw the mugs and went in and ordered a hot rose matcha latte with unsweetened matcha - wow perfection, not too sweet. And the vibe and ambience inside, it feels like an east coast coffee shop inside or maybe a Seattle local spot. So many outlets nearby to plug in your devices in, I'm definitely looking forward to spending my work week on days I don't have to go into the office!! read more
