I love Indian food but could not find a great place until I tried The Naan. The food was exceptional. We ordered the mild Chicken Tika and for once it was not like baby food. It was spicy enough without overwhelming our palates. I took my daughter who loves Tika Masala and she loved it also. The wait staff was super nice and everyone had a great attitude. It's clean and nicely renovated. The Mango lasse was delicious as was the Chicken Saag and of coarse the naan was terrific. Not 1 complaint. Dried up rolls of what is reminiscent of beef jerky in what they say is lamb and chicken, but who knows what it really is!?! Huge dry pieces of chicken breast. This is by far the best Indian food Ive ever had. The food was beyond exquisite and the service very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, upscale but not pretentious. Our waiter, Pete, made excellent recommendations which made our night. The Butter Chicken, goat cheese naan and Chicken Tikka were astoundingly delicious. The flavors were so authentic, real and savory. The drinks were fantastic too. And just to top things off, the chef sent a special gift to our table- a surprise dessert cake for our anniversary on the house. The food is definitely is good when you eat there. We have eaten there multiple times. We love the paneer and dal makahani. However service very slow and I hate to have noticed this on multiple times but the waiters there are very sexist. Each time we have been in groups and they will only go to the male to get their order or pay the bill or even as simple as ask "how they like the food". It's hard to believe really! But since the food is good I will give them four stars but likely only do take out from now. We went for a their buffet lunch on Sunday. It's a "we will bring the food to your table" thing, so I would call it unlimited food rather than a buffet. The appetizers (corn fritters) were cold, like they'd been cooked a few hours ago. The channa bhatura was terrible - the bhaturas were cold and hard, instead being soft and fluffy and piping hot. The main courses were limited, and the only choice we had as vegetarians was paneer kadhai, and dal makhani. That was it! No vegetable! Biryani wasn't a biryani but spiced fried rice (biryani is supposed to be steamed, not fried). The naan was good, but that was about it. Definitely do not recommend, and not going there again. Norwalk and Westport have much better options for Indian food. Keep looking. read more

Went there this past Saturday and now 3 days later we're still talking about our amazing meals. Being Indian myself and frequenting many local Indian restaurants, I can honestly say we've found the best. To clarify, my husband isn't Indian but recognizes wonderful flavor and that's what The Naan offered. My husband had chicken curry and I had my favorite lamb madras with onion chili naan, to start we had Chicken 64 and pakora...cant forget the delicious raita which tasted very close to my homemade. The service was friendly and welcoming. Our server seemed a bit reserved and not really chatty, but he was on-point with water refills and checked on us often. Other staff members were very friendly and the bartender even called out to thank us for coming as we walked out. We're already planning a trip back! read more

As I told the waiter that the food is spicy he didn't believe me and after I said again that it is spicy he brought us something to make it mild. I went to The Naan last night as a party of 4 for my fathers birthday dinner. I have been eating Indian food my whole life, and have been to India multiple times as my grandfather was from India. This is some of the most flavorful Indian food I have ever had! We had Saag Paneer, Malai Kofta, Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Tandoori, veggie Pokora, and the Lemon Coriander Chicken soup. Everything was great! Very well spiced and unique flavors. The cocktails are also delicious, and have Indian flavors in them that you won't find anywhere. I recommend both the Darjeeling Ltd, and the the Devil in Delhi (I didn't try any others). Peter was a wonderful server and made sure we were happy throughout the meal. He was very friendly and professional. He brought a carrot flavored dessert with a candle for my father at the end. All around a wonderful experience, I highly recommend! Went there finally based on the positive reviews. The Service was great as was the decor. The tandoori dishes were coming out sizzling but I didn't try them as had already ordered so will save that for my next visit. I ordered butter chicken and Malai kofta and onion garlic naan. All were very good. If there is only one piece of feedback, this place is catered for the American palette and hence the chicken was sweetened as I prefer a more authentic curry taste without added sweetner. In fairness, I didn't bring that up and will check with the chef next time to see if they can make it to my preference and if that's even possible as often the sauces are pre made. Tried the lunch buffet and was completely underwhelmed. The curries were not as savory and spicy as most Indian restaurants I've experienced. The food also tasted stale to me (not piping hot). While I did like the diversity of offerings (hakka noodles, dosas), the actual flavor and preparation was lacking. Honestly I would not go back for the lunch buffet and I would have to be wowed by their a la carte offerings and drinks to update this review. To top things off, they automatically added a service charge/tip for our group of 5 people which I've never experienced before, especially for a lunch buffet where we were having to serve ourselves for the most part! All I have to say is that this is one of the best North Indian restaurants in CT. We had their butter chicken, goat karahi, and paneer tikka. Each of which were made with care and tasted rustic and immediately reminded me of my trips to India, especially Delhi. Their paneer tikka was soft and homemade, which is rare to find. Their laccha paratha and chilli onion garlic naan was out of this world! Nevertheless, we know this will be our new favorite place when we crave Indian food and will be there frequently! We had a great meal at The Naan. Chicken vindaloo was perfectly spiced, excellent samosas. We tried a vegetable dish called Sarson Ka Saag made from blended mustard greens, spinach, red chili pepper, cumin and other spices. So good! Our fussbudget 21-year-old, home from college loved the chicken korma we ordered for him to go (as did I). He finished off the leftover Sarson ka Saag which is nothing short of a miracle for someone who puts one string bean on his plate and calls it the fulfillment of his minimum daily requirement. And the NAAN! Not the name you yelpers, the bread! It was the BEST! THE BEST! Everyone working at the restaurant was so nice and welcoming. I previously gave this place 5 stars, but I have to downgrade. First it's not an indian lunch buffet anymore, like you would expect, meaning, all the food is laid out for self serve. Now there's a menu and you chose what you want. All you can eat, but they decide on the portions. Had alot of califlower, not too much chicken tiko. Service was alittle slow, and they brought out the dishes at three separate times, starting with the califlower, then a couple and ending with the tandori chicken. Not how I like to eat indian food. So service I would have to say was poor. So if you're looking for an actual buffet, as I did, don't go here. Food was ok this time. No breast meat for tandori chicken, just thighs and pieces of legs, mostly bones. Sag was not good this time. seemed like it was many days old. Came here last night with my boyfriend for dinner. I moved to CT from Manhattan a little over a year ago and have tried a few Indian restaurants but nothing impressed me until I found this place. Service was great - thanks Peter! Cocktails were super interesting - I recommend the Indo-Russian (their spin on a White Russian - so tasty). And the food!!! Best pakoras I've had in a long time, rice was done just right, and the saag paneer? Perfect. They also lived up to their namesake because the garlic naan was my boyfriends favorite part. We had the pleasure of having a buffet at Naan last Sunday. We were welcomed by very friendly staff. The place was clean, well decorated, the food was presented elegantly, it was nicely covered to maintain food safety and I was impressed with that. Few of our favorite dishes were Saag, Chilly paneer, chicken Tikka masala , our little one went crazy for the Tandoori chicken and the hubby loved the lamb. Had a disappointing delivery experience. Food arrived 33 minutes late...on top of the 50 mins delivery time. Order placing was fine thru Grubhub. Delivery is done by the restaurant I think to save money?? Cannot handle a simple delivery of 1 entrée and some bread! only 1.5 miles away!! Had a 25% off coupon ...which helped!..but the delivery service was really poor. I think they should just let the food delivery services handle the deliveries.. Food was great though!! read more
