I had a great experience when I first went through this agency. I felt like Ashley and the team were absolutely wonderful. After 4 months, the family I had relocated 9 hours away for suddenly ended services. There was no discussion of anything going wrong and shortly before the end, had found out potential reasons as to how they most likely couldn't afford services anymore. It felt as though they were looking for a way out. At the first head, I contacted the agency addressing the situation quickly and they acted like they understood my side. As soon as things officially ended, whatever the family said to them, made me appear like I had done the worst thing imaginable. I have glowing references, have never had an issue with a family before or since, but Ashley did not help me with finding a new position, nor gave me the opportunity to talk about the situation again. I felt powerless and especially having had uprooted my whole life for this family, did not expect to experience an agency that did not support the nanny on top of that. I should have gotten 2 weeks pay because there was no reason for the treatment I received. It has been a year and I have since tried to reach out for potential families, applying, but I either get no response or, just like last week, an almost immediate email saying "The family has gone with another candidate," only to see the post on the website and up on their emails and social media, still very much active and seeking. It's disappointing to write this, as I had hoped the agency would have handled the situation with more integrity, ensuring I was heard, understanding the full picture, and helping me secure another placement. Nannies deserve protection. If a family can no longer afford services, that's understandable, but the way this unfolded left me in an incredibly disempowering position. If anyone is seeking an extremely qualified nanny with 15+ years' experience, newborns to 16-year-olds, private jet, UHNW, and fully staffed home, homeschooling, neurodivergent, behavior therapy and more experience, feel free to reach out! It's unfortunate when an agency holds so much power over a nanny's ability to connect with families. Horrible experience with this company. I was scheduled for an interview and the recruiter didn't even show up, with no warning or heads-up, then the next day she asked to reschedule, how unprofessional? After the interview I was matched with a family and then I never got a response back. They took all of my personal and sensitive information and then disappeared, I'm now anxious about identity theft. Highly unprofessional and unreliable. I contacted Lindsay when my baby was newborn. I needed help figuring out a feeding/sleep schedule. I was seeking emotional support during a time when I felt overwhelmed. From the start, the woman that I hired, due to a glowing review from Lindsay, Aline Thivierge was condescending, set unrealistic expectations, and I could tell was only there for the paycheck. It was all so demoralizing but I felt stuck. When I tried to reach out to Lindsay as well I was told I could not get out of my contract. I feel looking back this is unfortunate because having someone in your home, caring for your baby is such an intimate situation. I wish I had been stronger and fought for what was right. Sometimes the business should realize caring for babies shouldn't just boil down to money. I would've been more than willing to hire someone else who was a better fit. If you want a nanny to be loving - then don't call here. Their experience level was babysitting friends of family. Lindsay says she reps educated women. I would say that most did seem smart and some were nice but others seemed off-balance. She was willing to work hard and send a lot of canidates, but it was below the calliber of people on sittercity or care.com. If all you are interested in is a college degree and someone with energy (perhaps a bit pycho), than this is the place for you. Our well-loved nanny of 4 years moved on to graduate school and we were hard pressed to find a new "best friend" for our 7 year old son. Through Lindsay Apsell, we received resumes from many college-educated candidates whose past nanny experience ranged from around-the-clock international travel with high-profile families, to low-key, everyday walks to the park and help with homework. We interviewed and set up play dates with our three top candidates to get a sense of their personalities and how they interacted with our son, and had many good options. When our first choice became unavailable (she returned to her home city to help with a family emergency), Lindsay immediately jumped in to find us other candidates. We are so happy with our new nanny. She has a great sense of our son's needs and moods, and is incredibly empathetic to him, my husband and myself. Because we both work when school is over, she is a line of communication with his school teacher, soccer coach, other parents, etcetera. She works hard to accommodate our demanding schedules (sometimes changing her own plans without much advance notice) while still maintaing her own life and interests.
