I went there on Sunday, January 11th, 2026 to watch the 49ers beat the Philadelphia Eagles. Bee, a warm and friendly person is the bartender. Wes is the host and waiter who was very good at anticipating our needs and providing excellent service. The ambiance had a great feel good vibe and the crowd was friendly and inclusive. I highly recommend this venue for locals and visitors because of the sense of comradery that the venue promotes. I had a glass of Bargetto Pinot Grigio while watching the game. Next time I'll try some of their delicious food. Please tell Bee that I sent you! -Susan in Santa Cruz

You can tell that this place needs to be renovated ASAP. The garlic fries I ordered were pale and mediocre. Barely any garlic, barely any fries. Barely cooked enough. Really mediocre. No cheese or parsley to make it worse. Cocktail with bee pollen was good! The pollen was a really unique touch and it tasted great. Service was completely fine, but good lord I couldn't focus on it over the disgusting smell of body odor seeping into my skin. I would choose another bar over this place any day.

Yet the ambiance, service, and food are very good! I love the various aspects of the decor, as well. Other than parking challenges on a busy night in the downtown, we were lucky to get a table for 5 relatively quickly, as this place isn't that large, with some additional bar seating, and it seems very popular. 5:30 was a great time, as we watched the waiting line grow longer after we were seated. Our server, Michael J., did a great job of greeting us, providing menus, and taking initial drink orders while we decided what to try. We decided to try BBQ honey wings, fried artichoke hearts, and onion rings for appetizers. The main courses were two orders of kids' cheese pizza and tater tots, a small dinner salad, a cup of New England-style clam chowder, and a NY Steak sandwich. The food came in a reasonable time, with appetizers and salad first, then the rest. The apps were good, but the onion rings were a bit greasy. The honey wings were well-liked, as well as the artichoke hearts, which, strangely, were not oily like the onion rings. Yummy! The cheese pizzas paired with tater tots were certainly different, but the pizza was more like a reheated frozen pizza. The tots were okay. The NY Steak sandwich was good as well, with a side of steak fries - obviously! Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would definitely consider dining here in the future when in town.

Waitress walked by several times to bus some plates and glasses and input some orders into the console but never made eye contact, nor did the old guy with the glasses when he came out to attend the bar. Finally, I caught his attention and asked if I could order. He just said, "Kinda busy right now" and went back to what he was doing. No "give me a minute and I'll be right with you." Much like the crowd that was already there (and unlike the mixed demographic just outside or me), some older white folks came in after me and stood around for a few minutes also. Waitress finally grabbed some menus and asked them "have you been helped?" I interjected and asked, "Can I place an order to go first please?" Without stopping, she said "no" and continued on to them. I left. They saw me leave and didn't say anything. Make of that interaction what you will. The extra star is giving them the benefit of the doubt since they were busy plus their immediate adjacency to the beach.

The food was good, could have been a little better, I had fish and chips and partner had the shepards' pie. The fish and chips were good I would totally eat them again. But the shepard's pie was not good. It was completely unseasoned. He tried adding some HP sauce to a few bites, adding salt and pepper, and just could not make it edible. he was really disappointed because that is one of his favorites. I told him he should mention it and see if they could bring him something else, but he was adamant that would just make more work for them and he'd feel bad. I did remind him that shepards' pie is not a very seasoned meal. And he said it wasn't just that, but that everything tasted like it came out of tin. I reminded him, as a human who has lived in England, that this was also not out of the ordinary. We did decide we'd try it again next time we were over that way, and he already has chosen something else to try, so the rest of it (including his Mango Cider) was good enough to have him not give up on it. But maybe steer clear of the Shepard's Pie?

I got the beef pastie and it was a nice comfort food on a cool foggy Half Moon Bay evening. The beef and peas were well seasoned, the pastry was nice, and the gravy was tasty. My wife got the artichoke soup and was blown away. It was rich, a little creamy, and very flavorful. I also appreciated the bread bowl it was in had a toasted top. We'll be back, especially because I want to try the fish and chips!

I'm from Reno and we don't have any good British pubs so when going out of town I always look to see if there's a good looking one where we will be going. I saw this place on Yelp and the first thing I noticed was how legit the fish and chips looked. Once I saw that you can get sides of mushy peas or curry sauce, I knew we had to check it out (this is how you would order fish n chips in the UK!) Stopped by on a Friday evening, it was definitely busy but we got lucky and got seated right away. The live band outside was a nice touch. Now I will say, the menu here is fairly small, with only a few British items. But the items they do have are very authentic and I was primarily going for the fish n chips anyway. Great big pieces of cod, batter was beautifully fluffy. The chips are perfectly thick cut. My only very very minor complaint is that I do wish the curry sauce was a little thicker and less spicy, more like a traditional chip shop curry sauce but that's just my preference. I still love that it's even offered! My husband had the BBC (bangers, beans and chips) and he loved it. I tried a bit of his banger and it was really good. Nice thick pork sausage. They had a good looking beer selection, I will have to try some on a future visit when I'm not pregnant! I was really really pleased with my meal here. Please add some bangers and mash though! Those bangers are delicious.

The food is wonderful, service is wonderful, I received several complimentary dishes including a trout tartare I rather liked a lot. I felt underdressed but never underserved. This place was on my list for a while, all my dishes were hot, creative, plated incredibly, and the flow of the room the entire time is amazing. No yelling, nobody slacking off, no tension. Its just flow and purpose. The door to the kitchen is open and visible from where I was sitting. Nobody is stressed, everybody is comfortable and right at home. Service is perfect and not too much and just the right amount of personality. TBH the menu seems like New American classics that were familiar but upgraded. I thought that the extra candy tasting at the end was a nice touch (seen it at other Michelin star places), but after the the dessert, it was just sweet after sweet after sweet. The sweetness treat could have had a bit of balance. Service was good-- synchronous plate drop, prompt service. Water service stopped after dessert. Also I was a bit irritated by the waitress stopping conversation mid sentence. I'm sure it could not be helped, but doesn't change how I felt about it. Also they kept trying to take 2 of my dishes-- I don't think I am a slow eater but it felt rushed. Ambiance is definitely "vintage" TBH I think this is pricey for Michelin star w/ some of our party add ons it was $250/pp w/ tax and tip. It was a nice touch that they asked if someone was celebrating a special occasion, and gave that someone in our party a ice cream sandwich-- would have been nicer if they gave it to the rest of the party too.
