This used to be the Uptown Apple Store location. Then after a bunch of businesses left the area, I noticed this location for the Uptown Diner open up. Breakfast food is my favorite and the Uptown Diner definitely did the job. It was a brisk morning after I got my nails done and I strolled in here for a fix. The cornedbeef hash was HUGE. The Traditional corned beef was served with our famous house made hash browns and two farm fresh scrambeled eggs with cheddar cheese, along with bakery fresh toast. I was in shock at the portion size but was also so grategul. I can always appreciate generous portions. The booths are great and cozy, it created a great sense of coziness and privacy.

One of the best breakfasts I've had in the Twin Cities. It's a hike to get to with all the construction on West Lake Street. But it's worth the hike! I walked in around 7:30 AM and I was the first customer of the day.I was greeted with a smile by MAI my server. I asked her what her favorite breakfast meal was at The New Uptown Cafe' and was encouraged to go with the Spicy Cajun Benedict. This was a good referral, said" my belly".The house made andouille sausage was perfect. The hashbrowns were also made in house and the best hash browns I've had besides my own homemade browns. As you can see, there was also a lot of food.I was filled up for the day. The poached eggs, and Hollandaise sauce blended together and made harmony in my mouth. The freshly squeezed orange juice was the cherry on top of the entire meal. The bar seating was cozy and the restaurant was clean.I liked the booth area.At the front of the restaurant is window seating, however construction out on the streets makes it not interesting! I will definitely be back to try more of the menu items as soon as construction dies down. Thank you MAI for the good service. I'll be back!

Warmly greeted on arrival and very attentive staff. Enjoyed the Corned Beef Hash. I really liked how they fold the hash browns into the corned beef instead of having it on the side. A side of sourdough toast and coffee. Will be here once a month when I have to stay in the neighborhood all day. I thought there might be a wait when I arrived, but I was seated immediately and had my choice of tables or booths.

Great addition to the area! Food and service are great. Loved my eggs Benedict! The only negative is that they are pricey. Two breakfasts, one with OJ and the other with coffee; with tip was $50

Nice interior. Clean and modern. Large variety of options. Food is good quality and well prepared. It's a bit pricey but understandable since Minneapolis isn't known for its cafes. Employees are friendly. I would happily and without second thoughts bring guests here. Definitely an above average and safe option. Would recommend.

Excellent service and great ambiance for a weekend brunch. The avocado toast looked 5-stars and tasted 3-stars, making my rating 4 stars. Totally fine, but the bread wasn't quite as toasty as I would like.

Rachel sandwich with tater tots. The tots came with a seasoned sour cream dip.

(Bonus points for their flexibility--we had a surprise out of town guest who could join as well!) The menu has something to please every palate, from the vegans to the obligate carnivores. Ditto on the drink menu--they have a wonderful selection of beer and wine, and they have fun N/A options as well. The portions are generous (one person in our party ordered two appetizers and still had something to take home) and beautifully plated. I started with a green salad and loved the balance of tastes and textures. The greens were tender and crisp, the nuts crunchy, the chèvre yogurt creamy, and the dressing exactly right. (It was almost but not quite too pretty to eat.) For my main, I ordered the tofu hash, one of the vegan offerings. Flavored with a tasty chili sauce and fermented black beans, this was an intriguing and delicious entree. The sautéed vegetables were tender and beautifully complemented the crisp tofu and yucca, and the arugula salad added a refreshing element. There was a ton--I had leftovers for a truly delicious lunch. I also have to compliment their N/A selection. I ordered the Aplós Ume Spritz, and it was a very delightful way to start my meal. Light, sweet, and a pretty shade of pinkish-purple, it tasted just like a summer party. This would be a great place to grab dinner with friends, family, or that special someone. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and sometimes, they have live music, too! Also, pro tip: don't miss out on a side of bread and butter--it's really tasty here!

The interior is very inviting and they have a small bar- not many menu items tickle my fancy - would prob stop by the bar for HH or their patio if in the area but pass on the food

I asked the waitress if they were normally busy and she said usually weekends. I ordered coffee and biscuits with sausage gravy and eggs. Had a discussion with the waitress about whether they could make basted eggs which she thought they could. Shortly afterward she brought out what appeared at first to be a lovely breakfast. Hash browns came with it. These hash browns were spectacular, hot and wonderful. It pains me to say everything else was ice cold: the eggs, biscuits, the gravy, and the six pieces of sausage thrown on top of the biscuits, with none in the actual sauce. The eggs were perfectly cooked but cold. I really don't understand how things were so cold right out of the kitchen. And, obviously, they don't know how to make biscuits and gravy. I told the waitress that everything was cold except the hash browns and she took a few dollars off my bill. She was lovely. We spoke for a few minutes about the old Lincoln Del where she used to work and where I spent so much time in my youth. I boxed up my leftovers, the waitress gave me coffee to go, and I left. I suspect I won't be eating the leftovers. Do I recommend the Convention Grill? Not for breakfast anyway. But would still go for burgers, fries, and malts. They also have a killer egg salad sandwich!
