Been come here for about 9 years, places has the BEST green and yellow sauce, some home made recipe. All the food is great, the chicken is always perfect and juicy. My all time favorite, the Ropa Vieja, marinated shredded beef over rice and beans ( HIGHLY RECOMMENDED). Small, friendly, family-type place, surprisingly cozy. The bistec la limena was really good! It had that chargrilled flavor. The carapulcra tasted home cooked and authentic. Admittedly the flavor was a little different for me, but I think that's just me because it was well seasoned and well cooked. Placed an order to my business. Chicken was very VERY tasty, but they only provided the one yucky tart green dipping sauce (the one I absolutely hate!!!). Recommend for to go or delivery orders to provide all sauces for the chicken. Yucca tastes okay, but arrived cold. The black beans and rice dish is no bueno. Tasted like someone dumped a can of black beans into a to go box. No flavor or originality. I give this place a solid three stars because the chicken was so good!!! I mean crazy good!!!! This is another authentic Peruvian restaurant. I wasn't too hungry, so I decided to get an appetizer, while my boyfriend got a meal. I ordered the Beef Empanadas ($6) and he ordered the Lomo Saltado with Chicken ($11). The Empanadas are super small and they only give you 5 of them. It comes with a small bowl of sour cream to eat it with. The Empanadas themselves were flaky, not really crunchy or crispy. The filling was just straight up beef, none or very little cheese. For that price, you're better off getting a 1/4 Chicken meal. The Lomo Saltado was pretty good. The fries were really fresh and crispy and somewhat separated from the dish itself, but you could just mix it in. The chicken was seasoned very well and not too dry. The various flavors of vegetables were infused into the rice, so each bite was a blast of flavor. The sauces were okay. There's a green sauce (mild and vinegary with some cilantro, i think) and a brown sauce (spicy). I like the green sauce (mainly because I can't handle spicy foods that much) and because I really like vinegar. So remember kids: pricewise, get a meal, not the Empanadas. read more

I tried the food here for the first time tonight and boy did I loved everything I ate there! I tried butifarra and it was amazing. We also tried the inkas chicken and wow the taste the mixed of flavors was amazing. You also get a lot of food for the price you pay so that's a plus. I LOVE THIS PLACE! My husband first brought me here in 2002 and I can't resist going again and again. We now live over an hour away but we still try to eat here at least once a year since it's so special to us. Their green sauce is one word...AMAZING. I always get ropa veija and he usually gets milanesa or the steak sandwich. All are excellent choices. I've noticed that with the changing economy their portions have gotten a little smaller and their prices have gone up but I still go because it's really that good. read more

From their Lomo Salgado to their Ropa Vienna this place is one where when I leave my stomach and my wallet are both happy with. It's not cheap, but it's def not expensive. The atmosphere of the place is nice and has a more grass roots feel, the staff is always nice and the wait is not bad if you avoid the lunch rush. The sitting area is limited but I've never had to wait for a table, maybe it's because I know how to avoid lunch and dinner rush lol. Either way I've never walked away feeling like I've overpaid or gotten inconsistent quality food. It's definitely one of my weekly go to places. read more

The Nibbler is one of those rare finds in the sea of chain restaurants where a family-owned and run establishment serves consistently great food every time. I highly recommend the hearts of palm salad to start and the Ropa Vieja for an entrée. While I've built up a tolerance over ten years of going there, you should ease your way into the hot sauce. I suspect that many of the stronger reviews come influenced by the fact that your expectations are low when you enter the joint. I've eaten there three times, all lunchtimes during weekdays. The beef (ropa vieja and lomo saltado) consistently is hard, and the serving sizes of meat are small (in all dishes we've ordered). I first discovered this place though an auto shop where I used to get my car fixed. The guys used to order the sandwich, the steak sandwich. I always get it when ever I am in town. The steak is well cooked, not chewy, and they top it with vinegary onions, I believe. It comes with fries and their hot sauces. I like all of the above, so declicious. read more

We've been here years ago and had a great experience so the other day when we were looking for take out places, we ordered from the nibbler again. The delivery took a bit longer than we hoped (55min) but I guess it should be expected. We got the grilled chicken kabob type dish and it came so burnt that I couldn't taste the chicken. We also got the Ropa Vieja and it was soooo dry. Another dish was the breaded chicken and that was also dry and kind of soggy. I understand it could get soggy since it's a delivery but there are other restaurants that package it differently so it doesn't become AS soggy. The only dish that was really tasty was the steak lomo saltado. I would get that dish again. But unfortunately it won't be any time soon because all of us had stomach issues after this dinner. read more

Went here a while ago on the recommendation of a friend and it was so good. I ordered the bronzini special and the owner went out of his way to offer me multiple ways to prepare it and even cooked it himself to make sure I enjoyed it. Worst in the world- took an expensive order through GrubHub at 7:30 which was supposed to be delivered by 8:50- when nothing was received I call the number they listed through GrubHub which was NOT the restaurants number BUT the number for TakeOutTaxi another delivery service - who said they never got the order- so the , how did I get an order and order number in an email- I was charged for it and didn't receive the order- so they took my money and delivered NOTHING! My family has been eating at the Nibbler for years. Best Peruvian in Gaithersburg and one of the best Peruvian restaurants I've visited in the DC area. Small quaint atmosphere with painted Peruvian themed walls. Always regulars there for dinner. Owners and servers are attentive and friendly. I've tried many dishes but my favorites are Lomo Saltado, Ropa Vieja, and Seafood Trio. All fresh, perfectly cooked, and spiced.
