This place is horrible. I got a good review from a friend but they must have been mistaken!! I got the Peruvian chicken with beans and rice. When I walked in , around 3/4 It was empty. The lady got my chicken from a metal box already sitting there. The beans and rice were just sitting there warm also. The sauce was not tasty at all for all the promotions about "amazing sauce" . I'm disappointed because I love Peruvian chicken and driving to my usual place in Wheaton is far from where I live. read more

This Peruvian restaurant is another YUMMY & GREAT place for lunch AND dinner! My favorite thing to order is the steak "Lomo Saltado". I always call ahead and take that Lomo Saltado home to enjoy. The seasonings, the sauces and with the Lomo Saltado the generous portions of the grilled steak pieces, and grilled vegetables on top of French fries and white Peruvian rice...SO GOOD!!!!! Another one i will get if I've already had Lomo Saltado 3 or 4 times in a week, I'll get "ROPA VIEJO"...Which when I say generous portions, I truly mean it! If I have a friend to join me, we will eat in...its a really comfortable scene! It gets really busy at lunchtime so make sure u get there as early as possible. And now they have a sweet tea with lemon that I can never drink too much of!!! Also...their DESERTS are to die for!! Everyone I know when I'm going to my favorite Peruvian restaurant, they all say "the nibbler"? And end up joining me! The staff are so friendly and welcoming!!! It's okay. I haven't had too much experience with Peruvian food, but this place didn't get me too excited. The place is small, but not cramped, though there were not many customers anyway. The decor is interesting enough, but as another reviewer said, the price does not match the atmosphere. Yeah, they have yucca, and it's about as good as anywhere else. Overall, though, even I could make the same kind of food that is made here. Fries? Steak? Eggs? Well, if Peruvians eat like Americans, then this place is authentic. The two sauces, green and yellow, are nothing amazing, and the latter is really too spicy to be enjoyable. If you want average food with a Peruvian hint of flavor, head here. With the price point, though, I would recommend somewhere else. read more

Stopped by here when I needed a bite to eat on my way somewhere - based solely on Yelp reviews. The food was excellent and authentic. Rolls are fresh baked. I had the Aji and my wife had the Inca Chicken. Both excellent. Strange location and certainly a little run down, but easy to deal with given the quality of the food. They also had friendly service. Wow! I got the grilled chicken thigh and it was yummo!!! It comes on skewers with a half grilled jalepeno at the tip of the skewer. The side of beans, rice, and corn on the cob gives the meal a wholesome touch. This is def going to be my new go-to spot for peruvian cuisine. read more

Wow this place is AWFUL!! I used to go here every now and then and it was great! But after not going there for 5 years I decided to try it again. Big mistake on my part. Waste of money! I should of known something was up when the waitress brought us bread and butter. I ordered Lomo Saltado. I paid 15.00 and got 5.00 worth of food. My meal tasted like soy sauce and very sour. There mild and hot sauces are horrible to. Very watered down. I left here hungry and mad! Don't go! read more

I had the lomo saltado with chicken instead of beef. It was really bad. The food tasted greasy. The rice was dry and the fries were hard. I didn't particularly care for their sauce either. If I went there again, maybe I would try their braso. read more

Sublime! I had the seafood soup, which was creamy and perfectly cooked - no rubbery seafood here. Hubby had the lomo saltado and it was fantastic. We didn't even talk to each other throughout lunch because we were too busy eating! Dessert was wonderful - tres leches cake and flan for him. I am a Latino woman and I have Peruvian friends that are great cooks and let me tell you they can cook a thousand times better than this place we ordered ceviche witch was sour due to artificial lime juice from a bottle, chicken witch skin was soft and nasty tasted like costco broiled chicken, my hubby had lomo saltado witch was extremely salty and sour, and I had anticucho witch my Peruvian friends say has to be heart and it was tasteless beef wig a side of beans no flavor and rice that seemed to be microwaved from the day before. If this guys can open a Peruvian restaurant so can my friends with much better food. And let me tell you price wise is 55 dollars for this meal it was one of the worst experiences in food for me not worth it at all they have washingtonian ratings man this magazine doesn't know what they ate talking about. This is my fav go to. I always get the ropa vieja which is amazing. Their yellow sauce and green sauce with it really add to the dish. The meat is tender and not over cooked. Paired with the spicy sauce I add and the plantains- delicious! The outside is deceiving in the strip mall. The murals on the walls add ambiance. We are always served by the same lady and it's rarely busy (we usually go for dinner) so it's personable service! We have ordered other things on the menu which are also delicious (empanadas for the kids, chicken soup, etc). Highly recommend! Forget the new chains popping up nearby. read more

My friend and I meet at The Nibbler regularly for lunch. It's very good. I have to say I never wander too much on the menu, I know what I like. I get #7 which is chicken skewers with rice and pinto or black beans. This green sauce that you pour over all of it is what really makes it yummy. We have been regular customers at Mi Peru in Flower Hill but we read some good reviews about this place. So, we gave it a shot. That was the worst idea we had. The chicken was so dry and did not seem fresh at all. Tasted like old chicken and the yuka doesn't Taste as good as Mi Peru's either. Don't waste your time or your money. read more

The Nibbler is my family's go-to local restaurant when we want a quick meal in a friendly atmosphere with reasonably-priced and delicious Peruvian food. We have been coming to the Nibbler for over 20 years. This is a small family owned place and is one of my local favorites. The Lomo Saltado is so flavorful. I love the simple fresh grilled salmon with salad and rice, but they have specials every day with several seafood entrees; they also have some German specials which are awesome. I had stopped going to The Nibbler, mostly because it's a little pricey for a lunch place. I went back the other day, and I still like it, but I can't rave about it like some of the other reviews I noticed for this restaurant. The food is generaly very good, but it's certainly not in the category of Biscotti, which is the cream of the crop in the Gaithersburg/Derwood area (about a mile away from The Nibbler). Some dishes are mediocre, and some are very good, with an unusual but interesting blend of Peruvian and German influences. I like the steak with the fried egg on top (though the egg is usually overcooked), and I like the chicken in heavy sauce (not sure of the name of the dish) over rice. I've had a few duds here, but mostly it's pretty good. It's a little pricey for lunch fare, and the restaurant is cute and nicely decorated, but smallish and in a mediocre plaza that's difficult to get in and out of. The service isn't as good and friendly as a place like Biscotti, but it's not quite a full service venue. All in all, it's a solid choice with pretty good and unique food options, but in my humble opinion, it's closer to a 3-star restaurant than a 5-star one. read more

My husband loves their loma saltado, and I usually have the chicken with fried yucca, but the other evening we tried the rahm schnitzel which was one of the daily specials. It was delicious and came with a small salad, hot rolls, and spaetzle. One of their cooks is German, and the schnitzel was so good. Next we want to try the beef goulash, also with spaetzle. Both are $16.95, but the food is so fresh, it is worth every penny. read more
