Ordered the strawberry whole milk matcha and was unfortunately disappointed with the taste, especially given the price (7 or 8 dollars plus tip). The quality of the milk was high but the richness and strawberry flavor dominated the matcha, so the overall profile didn't feel very well balanced -- perhaps a strawberry compote would have been better? The service was decent and there were a couple tables for customers to sit at. read more

I've been to Nitro Bar a few times because the coffee is consistently good smooth, well balanced, and honestly one of the better brews in town. So I really wanted to love this place. But every time I go, the vibe is just off. The atmosphere feels less welcoming The employees have that "mean girl" energy aloof, borderline rude, and definitely not interested in being friendly. It's one thing to be cool and trendy, but when it crosses into dismissive and unwelcoming, it really kills the experience. Coffee shops are supposed to feel warm and chill, not like you're being judged for existing. I totally get that it's a busy spot things move fast, and I don't expect over-the-top friendliness. But even when it's slammed, there's a basic level of courtesy that should be there. You shouldn't feel uncomfortable just trying to order a coffee. read more

This place was lowkey mid. My coffee was really good and came out decently fast based off the line wrapped around the building. My food however, not good. At all. My bacon egg and cheese was so burnt I couldn't even eat it. The bacon was not edible based off how burnt it was. The English muffin was also charred and tasted horrible. Nitro Bar had me at "Mocha Oat Latte." In addition to a stellar signature nitro coffee that's always on tap, they also offer way more twists on the classic than anyone! The mocha oat latte is my standby, but if you don't need as much caffeine as me then may I humbly suggest the nitro chai? Bursting with chai and cinnamon goodness it's hard to pass up. They have locations in Providence and Newport so why not chai them all for your daily coffee/tea fix? read more

Delicious iced lavender oat latte and cinnamon sugar latte! We ordered online and received a text when the order was ready, so it was excellent, efficient service. Absolutely amazing!!! I came all the way from San Diego and Julia and the ladies were amazing! They gave me recommendations on what to do on my solo trip and we chatted for a few and they were so nice (I'm an introvert and actually felt comfortable sitting at the bar chatting, which I would never do anywhere else!)!!! Literally can't say enough good things about this place. I've been hearing amazing things about Nitro Bar and I couldn't wait to try it on my trip to Newport RI this weekend. I got the Grilled Cheese special: loaded with cheese, bacon and greens with a sunny side up egg on top! My partner got the bacon egg and cheese on a bagel and it was also amazing. Best kept secret on this side of Newport! The vibe of this coffee shop is great and they have a surprising amount of coffees on tap. We tried the nitro chai latte and the nitro vanilla latte. The chai was a little sweeter than I was anticipating but delicious all the same. It ended up being my favorite of the 2. We came for the experience of trying the quintessential Rhode Island drink--coffee milk, but found out upon arrival that they don't sell coffee milk. Not clean. Employees grabbed the cups (coffee and water) with their fingers on the inside of the cups. Cortado was watery. Chocolate used in the mocha was heaped in. We realized to cover up the mediocre espresso. I get it is a tourist trap area, but owners pay your employees enough for them to fake liking their job. Also, hire a third employee to clean. Went with my family. We all ordered lattes (usually made with a milk base and espresso shots). The barista made our drinks using coffee from the taps they have in the store. I was really confused because it looked like regular ice coffee coming out the tap, then she just put a splash of milk it in. The drink did not taste like a latte, it was watered down and bitter. I also got it flavored and could not taste it. I was really confused because we paid almost $9 per drink and the barista typed in "latte" in the system so I don't know why the drink wasn't made with milk and espresso. I went online to see if maybe they make their lattes different, but I found a video on their TikTok page making regular lattes(like pouring the espresso shot over the milk). Overall I'm just really confused and disappointed. This place is just not worth the money if they can't even make a real latte. read more

Some of the best coffee I have ever had. My son found this cafe when we were visiting Newport when we wanted a quick coffee stop. Their nitro iced mocha and nitro iced made with oat milk are out of this world delicious. Excellent service, quick and very friendly and accommodating both times we went to get coffee there. Their menu is limited but the first time we were there it was very busy and all the tables were filled with people eating. The pastries looked good but we only stopped for coffee. Any time we are in Newport again we will be back. read more

The best coffee I've ever had! Love the mocha latte nitro on tap and their regular nitro, it's convenient and more cost effective to get the refillable growler. The cooks and baristas were super friendly. The breakfast bowl was so awesome, I got it with bacon. Nutritious and delicious. Only was their mango iced tea. Wasn't expecting a strong black tea with only a hint of mango and caramel. It grew on me, though - became bold and satisfying. A heads up on the menu would have been good. But the lemon scone was pretty dry and seemed stale, like it was either baked too long or was a few days old. Either way, just an okay spot.

You'd never know it was once a Newport Creamery (super casual diner-style eatery), because the owners have done an excellent job of renovating the space into an Italian-inspired fresh cafe. Of course, the house Mozzarella is a standout, and they do provide samples upon request. They also have an impressive array of imported cheese and meats, perfect for crafting a memorable charcuterie board. I love their Espresso brewed fresh to order with pistachio milk (!! Where else have you ever seen pistachio milk?!), and the Frittata with potato and onion is my favorite for a light brunch moment. Make sure you ask them to heat it up for you! Ample seating inside and outside at adorable cafe tables round out the Italian street cafe vibe, and Mozz is not to be missed for your Newport adventure!

I got a canolli and sfogliatella.. It's the only spot I found in town with Italian treats you can pickup and go. The canolli was really tasty but it was very small and very expensive. The sfogliatella matched the taste and quality of those I had in Napoli, Italy. It was expensive though. The spot has a pleasant sitting area that's functional but not necessarily cute to sit in and relax. Not much to look at inside. Overall a spot to get your Italian fix if you feel like paying the prices. It does have a great selection of cheeses, meats, and Italian goods which admittedly I didn't try. It's a slightly expensive spot even for Newport which is already an expensive town to eat in.

It's only about a 5-minute drive from the Wharf, so it's an easy stop if you're staying downtown. We stopped here right before Sprout & Lentil, and again as we were leaving Newport on our last day. The first day I had the espresso + citrus soda, while hubby had an Old Fashioned. The next day I tried the espresso tonic, which works so well--it's almost like magic. Truly coffee wizardry. Husband got the Old Fashioned again because apparently you don't mess with a good thing. It's dog-friendly with plenty of outdoor seating, plus indoor seating, Wi-Fi, and parking. They also have both Just Egg and Impossible sausage, which is great for vegan options. If you're vegan, ask about the cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, and other toppings to see what's vegan or if they have vegan substitutions. We only ordered coffee here. The space also has a fun community feel, with Magic: The Gathering events hosted there. Great coffee, creative drinks, excellent service, and a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely worth the quick drive from downtown Newport!

Iced Caramel Latte: A bit too milk-heavy for my preference. One of the drinks was initially forgotten which resulted in me waiting several minutes, but the staff handled it well--quick apology and a complimentary drink chip.
