We ordered the Carrot Three Ways, Gigante Beans, and Blistered Peppers, and every dish was excellent. Fresh, clean flavors, beautifully prepared, and incredibly satisfying. And then there's the space. Colorful, eclectic, a little whimsical, and bursting with personality. Plants hang from the ceiling, art covers the walls, and there's something interesting everywhere you look. It feels vibrant without trying too hard. Cute little wine bar/restaurant located in an East Sac neighborhood. Has a definite neighborly feel and I love the artwork. I'm assuming that the art here is done by local artists. The prices, though are a little bit higher than I expected . For instance, there was an heirloom tomato salad on the menu for $24. I would think (actually I would hope) that it would feed a few people for that price? I wanted to get a glass of wine but ended up getting a half glass for $8. Once you throw in tax and tip, you're looking at over $10 for a half glass of wine. Walking out, I was talking to one of the neighbors here and asked if he had been. He said that it seemed a bit pricey for him and that he'd rather have a glass at home. I did see the table next to us order a carrot dish that looked quite interesting. I think this place would be great for a date night rather than a casual night out for instance or if you're just tired of sitting at home solo drinking lol. read more

The Nook is truly a gem in Sacramento. I have severe food allergies, and they have been so accommodating and kind every time I come in. The food is always delicious and beautifully plated. I have had Nicole as my server twice now, and each time she has been absolutely outstanding. Romantic and unique! The Nook is a hidden gem right by McKinnley Park in East Sacramento. Serving up tapas, Spanish wine, and even vermouth. My favorite is the carrots three ways and the shrimp gambas. There is no way I could have thought to make carrots like this- but I scrape the plate every time! Inside and outside seating is available. It's more of a place for adults and not as kid friendly as it has the small bistro vibe and relaxed atmosphere. Hidden gem! Nestled in a residential area, this wine bar has a great rotating menu and out door patio (a must for the summer in Sac). Cute neighborhood wine bar with an interesting selection of Spanish wines and tapas served in a cozy setting with good service. We tried it for the first time this evening and enjoyed trying wines and small plates none of which we had ever experienced before. The Nook lives up to its name. It's tucked away in an unassuming neighborhood shopping center next to a fresh dogfood place and one of the best bookstores in Sacramento. It used to be Celestine's and then DeVine bakery but now it seems to have found its "nook". I went on a Wednesday and it quietly filled with parents grabbing wine with their kids having snacks and people working on laptops and a glass. My friends and I ordered a bottle to share and the chicken meatballs, the burrata and arancini balls. The food was delicious! The chicken meatballs tasted like falafel without the crumbly chickpeas texture. The burrata was amazing-seasonal with peaches and crostini. The space is nice, with interesting art. I liked that they were blaring music and the vibe was very chill. Our bartender/server was friendly and quick. Recommend this for an intimate date, or a relaxing wine and appetizer get together with friends. Prices were a little higher, especially for the food. Average price for a glass of wine was $12-16 and a bottle was $60. The food was often priced at $16. But the quality is there so you get what you pay for. We had the shrimp cakes, tomatoes and cheese, and tinned anchovies!! Wowww the shrimp cakes were so light and crispy and perfectly paired with a bitter, sour, and sweet arugula salad! I think the tomatoes and cheese were my favorite though! WOW the cheese was so milky and luxurious and paired phenomenally with the yellow tomatoes. Loved everything about this dish!! Went to an early dinner or snack I should say with family. Had some issues; as their online booking let me book an hour before they even opened. After seating we were given a menu that wasn't what they had posted as their their online menu. We were told the online menu hadn't been updated in a while after showing the hostess/server. The cutest little neighborhood wine bar! We were looking for a place to go to get a drink and a bite...at 3pm on a Tuesday. We came across the Nook and figured we'd head over and try it. Because of the timing it was empty when we arrived but we were quickly greeted and told to sit wherever. (They have a cute outdoor patio but it was chilly so we sat inside.) After looking at the menu we decided to order a flight of 3 wines. I chose the sparkling rose, the Tosca (similar to an oakey Chardonnay with a wild nose) and the bars Honda monsarell (most similar to a Pinot noir). Our server/who runs the front of the house was really knowledgeable about all the wine on the menu and offered a ton of recommendations. We opted to order to the patatas bravas for a little snack. I feel like most places serve thicker potato chunks but these patatas bravas were kind of like chips - they were absolutely delicious! If we lived closer, I imagine we would walk here all the time! It's about a 15 minute drive for us so I definitely see us going back again soon. Would love to try more of the food options! read more

This little wine bar occupies the location that was formerly Celestin's- we like the proximity to our neighborhood, and it's just a few doors down from the East Village Bookstore. Recommend spending an afternoon exploring the bookstore followed by some drinks at The Nook. There is also an outdoor picnic table area for folks who want to bring their dog, but it is on the parking lot so beware of pavement temps. I can't speak to the food menu, as we have only stopped in for drinks before. Overall, there is a decent selection of wines (red/white/sparkling), as well as beers, ciders, and even mocktails. During our most recent visit, my husband was interested in the vermouth. The bartender created a cocktail that was the grapefruit vermouth + sparkling wine- it was such a refreshing spritz, and we really appreciated the personal recommendation. Service here has been great each time we have visited. Pricing is a bit more expensive compared to wine bars in midtown- expected given its East Sac location. The vibes and aesthetic of the indoor space is a little confused- featuring decor such as damask ceiling hangings, resin wall art, eclectic 3D wall art, and overhead lights that are a little too bright for a wine bar. read more

We actually did not end up eating anything because we got lost deep in conversation and ended up just drinking a bottle of wine. Oops! The server was very kind and did not try to upsell us. We ended up sitting and talking for almost 3 hours and were the last ones to leave, but again, the server did not rush us out.
