I really enjoyed this place! The food, the service, the cocktails. Everything was top notch. This place actually has a taste and a feel of a very high end restaurant but the prices are manageable. It's on my to go list, so I will definitely be coming back.

This place never disappoints!!! The bartender is the best part of this experience!! So personable and fantastic cocktails. If you can please do happy hour here and the duck fat popcorn, hoisin glazed chicken, the miso deviled eggs, and much, much more!!

Hawks Provisions is a tiny, yet delicious, little shop, separate from Hawk's Public House. They offer coffee, tea, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches, as well as lunch items...salads, soups, and sandwiches. Their fried chicken sandwich ($9) is the winning ticket item to order! It comes with spicy slaw, dill pickles, and aioli, on an acme baguette. It is excellent! I also tried their soup of the day, which happened to be mushroom. It was extremely good! The flavor of the mushroom was prominent and simply delicious! The service was okay...I didn't feel a whole lot of warmth coming from the staff, but it wasn't awful as well. Hawks Provisions has indoor and outdoor seating, but it is extremely limited. It seems more like a to-go shop than an actual sit-down place. Definitely give their fried chicken sandwich a try if you get a chance.

    Fried chicken sandwich. Amazing....

WOW. That fried chicken sandwich......... was seriously so good. I'm getting extra pickled onions next time!!!!!! They are SO good! Best fried chicken sandwich in Sac?? I think it's hard for this sandwich to have a contender!! We came near the end of their very short open hours (my only complaint!). They gave us free snickerdoodles as they were closing, which was so nice! I didn't expect anything from that snickerdoodle as I don't generally like them... but holy cow. It has caramel inside of it and it was SUPER delicious!!! If you can make it to the rare times that they're open, I highly recommend it! I want to come try the roast beef sandwich soon!

UPDATE: I am now giving Hawks my full 5 stars! I've been been a patron of theirs since they opened and I am more & more impressed by their ability to add new items to their menu and their stellar service. Hawks recently added ice cream and it's welcoming on the hot summer afternoons. A current favorite of mine is the caramel latte in the morning and salad & chicken for lunch. All their food is always fresh and consistently good! I am equally happy with their genuinely friendly service and if there's something amiss, they will make it right without thinking twice. Previous Review: While walking down Alhambra for my lunchtime walk, I noticed a sign that the Provisions side of Hawks is now open. There's a severe drought of eateries in midtown and for those of us working hard throughout the week, we become lions during lunch and frantically search where our meal will come from. Like a Hawk, I swooped in to grab my meal. There are two sides of Hawks: Provisions and Public House. Provisions is the sidewalk to-go cafe with breakfast, sandwich, salad, and confections. I met Mike the co-owner and he was friendly, informative, and said the food is all made in-house. I had the Croque Monsieur Sandwich (think fancy Grilled Ham and Cheese sandwich but with: Gruyere Cheese and Bechamel). I'm glad I took a picture before I started eating it because I found myself stuffing my mouth with the delicious french sandwich. The sandwich was crunchy on the edges and soft throughout the rest. The ham was salty as expected as with most hams and I was initially afraid it was going to be too salty. As I ate the sandwich, I was pleased that the salt did not overpower the sandwich and provided me a satisfying meal. For my afternoon snack, I was equally impressed with their coffee cake. Generally only the top of the cake has the star ingredients of crumbs, cinnamon, and nuts. Hawk's coffee cake had peeks and valleys - the toppings were infused during baking and I found myself, again aggressively finishing my snack. The price is higher but well worth the quality. I can see myself eating here frequently and making it part of my weekly eateries.

Found this little gem! Greeted with a smile, great customer service! I ordered the provision veggie sandwich and a delicious, freshly made lemonade. The bread was the cherry on top, it was airy and crunchy, just perfect. It is cozy, I don't really recommend eating inside, it can get quite crowded. I would eat outside on cute little patio. Overall great place, give it a try.

Work training nearby 4 and half stars steered me here walked myself over Busy little place lunch rush of to-go orders don't crank out too fast I sat in corner lone table comfortable enough to have lunch All other tables would be awkward to sit at not recommended Counter service fine everyone here had to wait girl friendly enough I heart fried chicken reviews rave about sandwich was a natural choice The pre-fried chicken I watched them place in oven reheated for my meal Not even fresh fried? I was quite disappointed taste confirms my doubts Nine dollar sandwich heated chicken, slaw, pickles on a standard bun Came with nothing else it didn't taste bad at all just nothing special Even if fresh fried flavor profile or texture in no way stood out Soup was posole saw someone asked for sample thought I would asked too But they were busy and after tasting sandwich I didn't bother The Hawks Public House looked promising for nice meal now I'm hesitant Biggest plus might be convenient parking lot more rare round these parts

The other coffee drink that surprised me was the Revolver. I always forget about what a good pairing orange and coffee is, and I'll be taking this one back home with me to try! Every other drink we tried was delicious in some unique way. The Pho drink was savory and surprising, the New York Sour was rich and flavorful, and the Practical Move was refreshing. It really doesn't feel like any of the speakeasies I have been to before as it was much brighter and more open space but enjoyed it nonetheless. Food/Drinks: I strictly stayed with Espresso Martinis but they were prepared pretty well. The flatbreads also tasted amazing! They also had a list of different holiday themed drinks for those inclined for some holiday cheer. Service: The service here was super quick. The drink presentations are gorgeous, and you can tell a lot of thought goes into both the flavor and how everything looks when it arrives at the table. They have a great selection of gin, rum, champagne, and whiskey, and I often lean on the staff for drink suggestions because they're really good at recommending something you might not normally order. A few times now they've pointed me toward a drink that ended up being a hidden gem. I've been here a few times and it's always a great time whether you're catching up with friends or doing a date night. The food is also surprisingly good and pairs well with the cocktails. It is definitely on the pricier side, but that's part of the experience. Also, because the space is small and intimate, reservations fill up quickly and they do require a deposit, which goes toward your final bill. For drinks, I ordered the Watermelon Raspberry Margarita. It was crisp, refreshing, and packed with flavor. Not overly sweet and not too strong, making it a great choice if you're looking for something easy to enjoy with your meal. For my entrée, I went with the Beef Tasajo tacos. The skirt steak was juicy and tender, topped with fresh onions and cilantro, and served with salsa verde and lime on the side. The tacos had that classic street taco feel, simple but satisfying. They were generously filled with meat, which I definitely appreciated. While I'm personally not a fan of purple tortillas, the quality of the steak and toppings still made these very enjoyable. My only real criticism was the water service. The cups were fairly small, and refills weren't offered as often as I would have liked. If you're thirsty, it may be worth asking for a pitcher or larger water service upfront. Overall, I left feeling full and satisfied. The food was fresh, the portions were generous, and the margarita was excellent. I'd definitely consider coming back to try more items on the menu.

When we walked in I knew I was in the perfect spot-this bar has those low lights that all the bars in the 70s and 80s had-giving off a both romantic and mysterious vibe to it-I was in love with the place from that moment on. The music that day was awesome-I heard they have live music at times but at the time of my visit they did not-they were instead playing 90s and 2000s R&B and Hip Hop-it was wonderful-one banger after another-so yeah I was vibing. Our waitress couldn't have been cooler-she was as friendly as can be-suggesting drinks that were both on and off the menu-her and I were sharing tequila stories based on our shared affinity for the Fortaleza tequila they had in stock -which is super rare and it's how I judge every bar-whether or not they have Fortaleza tequila on hand and The Butterscotch Den had multiple bottles on hand. We ended up going with a few drinks that day. -Strawberry Negroni-($13.00)-This one blew my socks off-my favorite drink in the works is a Negroni but this bar makes a Strawberry version of it and let me tell ya-it's dynamite-10/10 rating -Old Fashioned-($12.00)-This is my go-to order at most bars because it's pretty reliable and most bars can make a decent one and I'd say they make a very solid one here-8.2/10 rating -Cucumber Gimlet with Tequila-($11.00)-This drink was made with lime-sweet vermouth and tequila-it was very refreshing and went down way too easy-rating 8.4/10 -Mezcal mystery drink-($12.00)-This was a drink the bartender made that after we declared our love for the smokiness of mezcal-I wouldn't be able to ask for it again unless I got the same waitress but if your a mezcal lover like I am-this drink was top of the line-smokiness intensity off the charts-9.1/10 rating So a little about the place that I picked up during my visit-I guess they serve food-I didn't know that but after my 2nd drink I looked back and saw this entire dining area with table side grills-so I guess the customers cook their own meats and such-pretty cool concept-my visit was strictly a drinking visit so I didn't partake but it looked pretty cool. I guess they are opened most days from 4p-12am and until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. They do not have a dedicated parking lot for this bar but they are located near 34th and Broadway-so unlimited street parking is available for those who drive here. In closing-I really really enjoyed my visit to The Butterscotch Den and I was pretty sure I had found my new favorite bar in Sacramento with a bar in the Ice Blocks but I am pretty sure that has changed and The Butterscotch Den is my new favorite bar in the greater Sacramento area-if you find yourself looking for a new spot to enjoy some adult beverages or maybe looking for a date night spot-don't hesitate to make your way over to The Butterscotch Den-the place is a true hidden gem. PS-They have a Disco Ball in their lounge area and a vintage non-working cigarette machine-the coolest I tell ya.
