Updating my review to add the remaining missing star. I just enjoyed my nephew's engagement party at the North House, held in the back old horse stable room (my favorite), and it couldn't have been more magical and understatedly elegant. The way they decorated for the holiday season was perfect. The passed hors d'oeuvres were delicious (especially the stuffed mushrooms and large bacon wrapped sea scallops! And on the buffet the pasta dish was good.. the mini potato knishes were my favorite). The service was friendly and attentive. Well done North House!

Great romantic cozy restaurant! We went for Valentine's Day weekend and it was pretty. We will try to request next time the back room with the fireplace. Highly recommend the beef Wellington and the cookie skillet...delish!

The North House is a quaint and cozy establishment. Despite being short-staffed on Sunday, 3/2, the service was impeccable. Brendan and Matt made our inaugural visit outstanding. There was a full bar and fifteen tables to service. They went to every table and made several rounds to ensure that customers were attended to. I can't believe I have another restaurant to add to my roster!

We had an amazing first experience food wise. Calamari served with hot peppers and oh so fresh. There are no words to describe the short rib served over mashed potatoes and served with crispy onion rings and carrots. There was no need for a knife as the meat was so tender. Service was great. Ambiance leaves a lot to be desired as we were seated in the tavern which had 2 tv screens and was brightly lit. Next time I will be sure to ask to be seated in the room that is pictured on Yelp which is more intimate and dimly lit.

This was genuinely one of the best meals I have had in a long time! I have been dying to try this place every time I drive by and was so glad I finally did. The ambiance is beautiful and relaxed and the food was amazing. So many good options to choose from, I look forward to returning.

We came on a Thursday for dinner with a reservation. We mentioned it was our anniversary and they wrote us a happy anniversary card was a nice touch. My margarita was good, his dirty martini was just OK. The Brussels sprouts were great, same with the whipped ricotta, and big portions! He had the beef Wellington which was perfectly cooked. We sat in the tavern which was a little awkward of a room.. I think the bar and high tops would be better. Service was lacking.. we had two waitresses splitting the job and that didn't work for them as we were consistently forgotten about.

The North House offers a great happy hour! Tuesday through Sundays 3-6pm, they have a great menu of bar bites and drinks! I stopped in with a group of 4 on a Wednesday around 5pm and was able to easily get a table in the bar area. By the time we left it was pretty busy so I would advise to go early if you want to take advantage of happy hour. We tried a variety of bar bites but the best were the pork belly tacos and coconut shrimp! Portions were a bit small for the prices. The drinks were delicious. The Yelp check in offer was a free dessert which was much appreciated. We had the s'mores crème brûlée and cheesecake which were just okay. It seemed only 1 bartender/waitress was managing the whole bar area so service was a bit slow to order more as it got busier but they came by often with water refills and to clear our plates. Overall I'd return for happy hour!

They've been around since 2012 and offers a variety of treats; from macarons, cupcakes, bars, pies, truffles, and cookies. There are three locations; Avon, South Windsor, and West Hartford. This one in Avon is super cute and whimsical; love the decor with the picture frames on the wall. There was a table and some chairs to enjoy your treats. I decided to get a few macarons, bars, and a cupcake. All were so good but my favorite were the macarons. They were the perfect texture, lightly crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. This place is definitely a gem and I can't wait to go back!

The employee was very kind and friendly, and the shop seems smoothly run. The shop seems to be in two plazas, and have designated parking on either side next to the building. Watch carefully for the signs, because the plaza is a little nondescript from the road.

But, they offered taste testers and there were so many cool unique flavors which made it even harder to figure out which one to get! Thankfully they suggested the 6 mini scoop ice cream flight. We were so happy we had this option making it so much easier and so we got to try a bunch of different flavors including, Ube, biscoff, honey latte, pistachio, Oreo, and honey vanilla. My niece was also super excited about the cotton cloud cone, made with either pink or blue cotton candy and a scoop of ice cream on top. She love it! I'm also happy because the space inside was big enough that they have a foosball table, seating and even a little porch with glass windows and tables, so on a rainy day, we were all able to enjoy the ice cream indoors as well. This ice cream was so creamy and fresh, I can't wait to come back and try the others! I also need to try their cheese and coffee shop next door too!

First off, it's definitely one of those small, tucked-away spots you could easily miss if you didn't know it was there, but once you walk in, the decor is so cute. Think cozy, shabby chic vibes that make it feel warm and welcoming right away. The standout for me? The dinner roll. Honestly, one of the best I've ever had. It was dense, rich, and satisfying, not your typical light, airy Kaiser roll. It reminded me more of a Jamaican hard dough bread in texture and weight, which I personally loved. Super flavorful and filling. I was also really happy about their buy three, get one free promotion. It made it easy to try a few different things without feeling like I was overdoing it. As for the pastries, I tried the cinnamon roll and carrot cake. I didn't finish either, but the carrot cake definitely gave true homemade vibes. It had coconut mixed in, wasn't overly sweet, and felt more traditional than indulgent. If you like a less sugary, more classic-style carrot cake, you'll probably appreciate it. Overall, this bakery is worth a stop, especially if you're exploring the pastry trail. Not everything wowed me, but there were definitely some highlights that made it a good visit.

It is a small bakery with a limited selection (i did, however, go late in the afternoon), but the pastries were perhaps the best I have ever had - no exaggeration. While in the area i also went to the Paris Baguete (in West Hartford), and there was absolutely no comparison - Le Bahn Patisserie is operating on a completely different level, and if you are planning a trip to Paris Baguette I would highly recommend going to Le Bahn instead. As noted, there is a smaller selection, so I would probably call ahead to see what she has, but if you are looking for some of the finest baked goods you have ever tasted you owe it to yourself to make the trip to Le Bahn Patisserie - you really won't regret it! I find that most bakeries drown their flavors in sugar, glazes, and frosting, while the pastries offered at Le Banh Patisserie deliver the perfect balance of taste and texture without being cloyingly sweet. If you are a fan of crossaints, you owe it to yourself to give these a try - they are golden and flaky on the outside with an incredibly buttery and airy center, and baked to perfection. Whether you choose the almond, chocolate, or classic butter, I guarantee you won't be disappointed, and will likely feel as if you just stepped out of a Parisian café. The scones are equally delightful with a crisp exterior while remaining soft and moist in the middle, and abounding in flavor. Also, be sure to grab a Doodle cookie (or two) before you go, and give the Vietnamese coffee a try - you'll be glad you did. Above all else, the owner/baker is one of the friendliest and most personable people you are likely to meet, and I could have spent the entire afternoon talking with her. After complimenting her on the quality of her treats and contemplating the lack of decent bakeries in the area, she was generous enough to recommend other establishments which she thought would be worth trying. In addition, after telling her I would love to possess her skill, she encouraged me to give it a try and even gave me a few resources with which to begin my baking journey. Overall, I can highly recommend this hidden gem as perhaps the finest confectionary I have ever had the good fortune to stumble across, and would honestly suggest to anyone that they would be doing themselves an incredible disservice by failing to stop in one afternoon and give Le Banh Patisserie a try
