This was actually much more than I was expecting. You order food outside and drinks inside, bit you can sit anywhere. There is a really nice patio with fires going but we opted for inside. It's pretty clean and they play good alternative music. Was a very comfortable vibe. But wouldn't suggest for big groups to sit inside, mostly small bar tables and can only fit 2 or 3 together, but wasn't busy when we went so it was fine. The food truck food was AMAZING. We tried a lot of items, all just so tasty. The crab cake slider was absolutely delicious, but a bit salty. The fries are enormous portions, could easily share between 3 or 4. The tomato bisque was a favorite as well. The chimichurri fries were my personal favorite. I thought everything was very inexpensive for the portions, a nice change from resorts. The bar has a full bar and offers some of the honey liquors. My hot toddy was really good, and everyone enjoyed their beers. Really loved this place, will go every year now that we know! read more

During our stay in Purgatory (always sounds funny), we walked down an old road and then a bit on the edge of the highway to get to the Nugget. I had a pork belly and a crab cake slider for $6 ea. from the food truck parked on the property. They were both good. On tap they had at least five selections of beer, 2 IPAs. Odell Brewing Mountain Standard Juicey Hazy was my choice...really liked it. This is a nice place to sit, talk, and enjoy the views of the mountains. Even saw a black bear on the walk back. Gave it plenty of space and time to go where it wanted. Need to add COVID info: wear masks to order and pick up food, plenty of room to eat and drink physically separated. The best group of bartenders (Kellie, Travis, Steve, Darien, Crocker) exude Colorado friendliness and pour good drinks and cold beer. And the guys in the food truck make the best sliders and fries. Not to mention the best burrito for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. And in the summer the outdoor patio is super dog friendly. Tip your servers well!!! read more

Definitely a unique spot. Decent quality and prices for being in the middle of nowhere. The best slider was the crab one, I wouldn't get the filet one again. You will not find a view that rivals the views from the outdoor patio. The vibe is relaxed, fun and so Colorado! This is a fantastic little mountain bar in the middle of nowhere full of beautiful views and great vibes!!! Tons of outdoor seating with fire pits etc. The drinks were ON POINT - our bartender Ashley was AMAZING, she made KILLER fresh margaritas and went out of her way to make everyone in our "out-of-town" group feel like a regular. We came in to ski over Super Bowl weekend and this was the only place we're went out to and it was a blast!!! Ashley the bartender rocked it with a packed house, got the filet slider and the crab cake slider with a side of truffle fries- better than 90% of any steakhouses I've ever been in. Food truck with the Sliders was fantastic. Group of 6 of us tried all the sliders except the crab cake. They ran out because we got there after the Purg Rush. Loved the pork belly then fries green tomatoes was also very good. They had Odell IPA on tap which was great. Cool bartender and good vibe around the bar. This was winter but I'm guessing the place is even better in the summer time with the patio and live music. Parking was a little rough but we managed. Definitely a spot I will come back to for first meal next visit. read more

We went here at the suggestion of our AirBnB host during our stay in the area, and it absolutely did not disappoint! We had our dog with us on the trip and loved that the place was dog-friendly (which was somewhat tricky to find in Durango). Live music was amazing, our server Emily was great, and the bartender's margaritas were out of this world good (and that's coming from a Texan). This is a great little hole in the wall and I mean that in a good way. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger slider and the filet mignon slider. Both were amazing! Things were great. Beer and drinks were good and maybe happy hours, but were inexpensive. So my complaint is, I opened a tab to have a couple of beers for me and drinks for my wife. I gave the bartender my CC to hold open until we were finished. When we finished the tab came to $13.20. Instead of charging it to my CC, I closed out my tab by giving the bartender a $20. I assumed he would have cancelled the CC. BUT you know what happens when you 'ASS U & ME', my CC was charged the $13.20 the next day. I drove back up to the Nugget to let them know what had happened. I would give a $6.80 tip on the $13.20 tab, but not $20! The nugget was about to have a private party and I tried to be discrete about the mistake. I called her to the side and told her what happened. She took all my info. Name, cell #, the amount of the charge, the last four #'s of my CC, day it happened. She said the owner would be back the next day and would call me. Now almost two weeks later no call. As I mentioned above, I am willing to give a $6.80 on a $13.00 tab, but not a $20 tip on $13.00. The best stop after a day of skiing at Purg or in the summer to get out of the heat at home. The bar is adorable and service is always great. The food at the attached food trailer is phenomenal. Owning a bar, it takes a lot for us to post anything other than a great review. When I say this was the worst experience I've ever had in an establishment I am not exaggerating. The bartender started disrespecting us from the moment we arrived then blamed it on being busy. She proceeded to talk so terrible to us and others that we witnessed multiple people leave the establishment. After finally taking our order, (the drinks we've had there on multiple occasions and enjoyed) they all looked different and when our friend asked if they were different she all but threw them at us and walked out from behind her own bar. After deciding to leave, on our way out two other patrons joined us and one mentioned that they were glad someone finally stood up to the bartender as it had been multiple hours of her treating her patrons terribly. I sincerely hope this isn't the norm here now and just a bad apple because we've loved this place and recommended multiple people here when coming down from purg or riding through in the summer for years! read more

The absolute nicest and friendliest staff ever. They made us feel like family! Shuttled us up the mountain, and even picked us up from Purgatory. This became our go-to spot in Durango, and we were so sad to say goodbye this morning as we head back to Texas. Some of the best Bloody Marys we've ever had, and if you're looking for something a little more decadent, go with Da Butta. The Nugget is one of my favorite hangouts, especially after a ski day. My mom came to visit and I took her here and Travis was bartending -- we couldn't remember the last time we had that much fun. The whole bar sang together, played games, and we all laughed until our faces hurt. Travis set an energy and vibe that brought locals and tourists from all walks of life together. This is by far my favorite little hole on the walls in Durango! I'll definitely be back. I loved the sliders & we took shots using the shotski. We came when there was snow and it had some great views! There's also a fire pit where u can sit outside. The bartender Casey was great & kept up with everyone in the bar with it being just him.
