I got the Chicken Marsala but subbed the spaghetti with Marinara sauce instead of cheese and brown butter. The chicken was a generous piece of breast - well seasoned and with lots of mushrooms. I enjoyed the flavor of the Marsala sauce but would have liked a bit more because I enjoyed sopping my bread in it. My server, Jaeliah, was very pleasant and attentive. She was quite responsive to my requests and I would be happy to have her as my server again. This chain has been around since 1969 and has perfected its' food quality and consistency, thereby continuing to please. This was a satisfying meal sufficient enough for a second meal as I am a senior with a smaller appetite. Because of the portion size, I was able to justify the amount of the meal - $22.99. Went for a quick desert here. I know not the first spot you think of when it comes to dessert but where else can you get a decent serving of spumoni. Waiter took there time to get to us, didn't really get immediate acknowledgment. We were able to order our dessert eventually and it took a small amount of time. It had been years since we visited The Old Spaghetti Factory and came across this location while visiting Sacramento. We used to go to the one in San Diego when we lived there and we were excited to go to one of our old favorite places. One of the things that I always loved was the unique decor and really cozy feel. Well, that was exactly as I remember it. The service and food on the otherhand did not match the ambiance. Our Server was a bit impersonal, but then she seemed to be the only one waiting on our surrounding tables, so maybe she just had too much to handle. For my dinner, I went with the Three-Course Combo. The salad was typical, but I do have to say the Pesto dressing was very tasty. I should've kept my main course simple and just got the Marinara Sauce, which I think was my go-to back in the day, but instead I went with the Manager's Special and got the Meat Sauce and Clam Sauce. I didn't realize both sauces were going to be served on the same plate. I was not a fan of combining them on the same plate and did my best to separate them. The sauces were just o.k. for me, not what I remember. The Bread was also just o.k. I almost felt like it needed a hint of more salt and the butter also lacked flavor. At the end I did get the Spumoni Ice Cream that was delicious. Overall I left a bit disappointed with my experience. I came in with a certain expectation from the place I loved going to, but this time around it just fell short. Here is my two cents on the quality quantity and taste of my order. It was delivered by GrubHub in a timely manner and they follow instructions . Kudos. I ordered a clam sauce over noodles. I thought the sauce was a little bit on the mile side. And the portion was a little bit smaller than I expected. There was not enough for a second meal. . Included was a small loaf of bread, minestrone, soup, and ice cream . The soup was fair with lots of vegetables in it, but they were cooked all the way down . Kirsten is very gracious and kind, professional and thoughtful. We felt very fortunate to have Kirsten as our server and then I remember that she had taken care of us before she's very sweet. Tonight there was an incident where a gentleman was not feeling well and needed to be taken to the hospital via ambulance. I admire how the staff, and especially Mr. Eric Whitwell, handled the delicate situation to help the gentleman without other patrons being really aware of what was going on. we just learned this evening that Eric will be supervising the opening of The Old Spaghetti Factory in Medford, Oregon, so sadly for us he will be leaving and may not be back for six months (if they let him leave to come back to us!!) Had an early new year's eve dinner (because NOODLES/NEW YEARS/IYKYK) I made reservations for 5pm but didn't really need any for that time of night. It was us and a few other tables of old people who probably won't stay up til midnight. LOL The host was about to seat us across the bar so I kindly asked to be seated in the trolley car. Much better. The entire restaurant is decorated beautifully for that era in time and gave me such nostalgic vibes from my childhood. Special family dinners were spent at the OSF in Fresno. Extra special if we got to sit in the train car! Once we sat down. it felt like none of the servers acknowledged us for a long time, like I almost wanted to get up and leave! But once Melissa (Alyssa?) came, she took care of all our orders and requests. I had a reward for free cheesy bread. ( Pro tip: If you join their rewards program online you get an order of cheesy bread right away! ) That was some damn good cheesy garlic bread. Next was the Caesar salad, the clam sauce spaghetti with an Italian sausage on the side, and an order of broccoli. I can honestly say this was an all around fantastic meal to end 2023 with! My daughter wanted to do our "family" dinner at Old Spaghetti Factory this year. She was turning 20. I called about 3 weeks in advance to book the dinner for the party. I was told that I would have to stick to a limited menu because it was a party over 25 and they would email menu choices over that day. After 3 days of not receiving anything, I called again. I was sent the menu choices that day. The week of, I had to ask about changing the day. My daughter cheers for a local college and their schedule had shifted. They were able to accommodate the change. I was very grateful. 48 hours before the event, I emailed our menu options (after asking clarifying questions) and received no reply. I began following up, no reply. I then received a text message that I had not sent in the menu choices. I followed up again, no reply. I called the restaurant to verify that the email and text message had been received. I waited on hold for a considerable amount of time before being told all was well and good to go. At 4:21 p.m., as I was wrapping up my work day and heading out to pick everyone up to begin the drive over, I received a call that not all was well. There was a miscommunication on the menu and choices. This led to frustration since we were approximately 90 minutes from our reservation. We arrived and waited in the lobby past our reservation time of 6:00 p.m. We were taken to our table without any instructions, pleasantries, or anything else. There was no highchair. I had to chase someone down for one. We had to ask for bar menus. Then, the waiter came back and asked if I had taken everyone's order. Evidently, it was my job to pass out cards color-coded to the available options and ensure they were readily available so the waiter could limit communication with the guests. This was never explained and never communicated. So, I went around the tables with the only menu printed and passed out coordinating cards. Which made it a little harder to enjoy my daughter's birthday. Food came out in weird batches. I was warned that by giving people sauce options it could take longer in the kitchen, but that doesn't exactly explain why lasagnas came out so off with people waiting. Now, I am sure people would not have minded waiting if they were able to order what they had actually wanted and not been so limited. The restaurant was not busy. Nor did it get busy in the time we were there. Two other parties joined us in the "banquet room" during our dinner. One, shortly after we were seated. The other one was toward the end. The second party had a similar number of guests and was permitted to order from the regular menu. Which deeply offended most in our party. We felt as though we had been punished for making arrangements ahead of time. Based on how full the place was, we likely should have just come in off the street and waited for a table. I was clear on multiple occasions, both ahead of time and at the restaurant, that it was my daughter's birthday. That was the whole reason we gathered. There wasn't any singing, her ice cream was brought out last, and there wasn't even a happy birthday. We regularly had to chase down our server for water, coffee, or refills. I was deeply disappointed with this experience. We normally go to this Old Spaghetti Factory regularly for my middle daughter's birthday (in smaller numbers) and when out shopping or after Sac State games, but going forward we will make arrangements elsewhere. read more
