This place was very comfy and cozy and felt like home. The casual decor just lended itself to comfort. I liked the picnic table/bench style seating, which further enhanced the casual ambience of the place. The staff was extremely nice and personable and immediately greeted us as we walked in the door. They took our orders and brought the pizza out relatively quickly. It was piping hot, and there was no shortage of toppings! We ordered a large pizza with half Arden Park Pleaser, (with Pesto sauce, chicken, spinach, feta cheese, tomatoes, and yellow onions) and half ​Steve O' Supreme O' (BBQ sauce, chicken, pineapple, green bell peppers, yellow onion, and green chilies) Everything tasted really fresh and the crust had a nice crunch, despite all the toppings and CHEESE they piled on. The seating was casual almost reminiscent of the dining hall at a campsite. The walls were adorned and allowed easy viewing of more than one popular sport. The options frequently featured feta cheese which is usually too salty for me. I was pleasantly surprised by how carefully it was added to the others cheeses to create a unique salty creamy flavor. My partner is a lifelong Sacramento resident and swore by Wenelli's, so of course I had to give this joint a try. I actually really enjoyed this place though I personally think I would have enjoyed it more if I stayed for a drink and game at the bar. It's got a lovely hometown atmosphere, and excellent service inside. They've got a great menu selection and- of course- delicious pizza too! I did notice they cut quite a few slices into the pizza. At first I was kinda confused, but because the pizza is so cheesy, I was rolling with it. Do not fear- it is a cheesy slice, but the fresh toppings, the crust, and the great portions at a reasonable price make it a great experience. I can see why the locals love Wenelli's, and I will be coming back here to enjoy a slice (hopefully at the bar this time!). 5/5! read more

This was our favorite pizza place. We used to order delivery regularly and always enjoyed the food. Last Friday was my 60th birthday and chose them to celebrate my birthday, so I called to place a delivery order. The woman on the phone told me, "Sorry, we don't do delivery anymore, but you can order through DoorDash." Since we've had a few bad experiences with DoorDash in the past, we decided to place a pickup order instead. I called back and scheduled a 5:30 PM pickup. When my son and his girlfriend arrived, the pizzas weren't ready yet. That wasn't a big deal--we were happy to wait......we felt it would be worth it. However, while waiting, they watched an employee return from a delivery. He came in carrying pizza delivery bags, watched him set them down, and then went to help customers at the counter. This left us very confused. If deliveries are still being made, why were we told they no longer offer delivery service? If they were short-staffed or fully booked for deliveries that evening, we would have completely understood. What was frustrating was being told something that didn't appear to be true. We also noticed the website still advertises delivery in addition to DoorDash. Unfortunately, the disappointment didn't end there. Both pizzas were very dry and seemed to have very little sauce. They simply weren't enjoyable and were nowhere near the quality we had come to expect or experienced in the past. It was especially disappointing since this was our birthday dinner from a restaurant we had always loved and supported. Sadly, after this experience, we will not be returning. read more

A good neighborhood spot for pizza in the Arden Arcade area. When you step in the door you really are transported back in time to the pizza parlors of yore. And the pizza reflects that too - old-school pizza with traditional ingredients and toppings. The pizza and customer service was on point. The pizza took over 40 minutes to come out (so it's not a place to go to if you're starving -- like we were), but in the end it was worth the wait. The pizza was excellent. There is a big playhouse for kids right underneath the TV so it's definitely a good place to take families, despite the space not being the largest. Their cash register machine is old school though, so an issue that we had was that we had to tell the cashier to add a tip to the card (after we had already ran our card the first time). Tonight we ordered a pizza the same as always, unfortunately the pizza was overcooked. I wasn't too happy. So I called and spoke to an employee. I spoke to him about my dissatisfaction and to my surprise, he was very apologetic and he was very sincere about it. That's something that's not very common these days at all. I've recommended Wenelli's to many friends over the last several months, and I will continue to do so because the superior (and I do mean superior) service this establishment has provided. I've tried this place numerous times and have had a few good experiences but I shall not give it another chance after lunch there today. The dough is great if you like a thick heavy dough similar to dumplings, but...... They are very skimpy on sauce ( virtually non-existent) and very skimpy on toppings- especially pepperoni. The pizza is way over priced for what you get and mediocre at best. A slice of pizza across the street at whole foods will cost you a fraction of the price and is much more substantial. Seems like they are putting profit margins over customer satisfaction. It's a shame because supporting local places is the right thing to do. I ended up here for the first time on a Monday evening because the pub next door was closed. So my friend and I decided to try their pizza I have heard so much about. This is a local, family owned business, which I always like to support. It is nothing special to look at on the inside, a bit dated and not really meant for atmosphere. But we found a good table for two, and it was comfy for just hanging out and having pizze & beer. We sat down and after waiting a good while, I was not sure if we were supposed to order at the counter (that is literally a few feet away). So I went to the counter, and they were friendly enough. You pay when you order. We ordered a medium Pete's Delight and an small pitcher of beer, which came to about $35. Beer comes with chilled mugs, a bonus! I really liked the pizza crust and the fresh toppings. I eat pretty spicy, so the pizza itself was a bit bland to me, but nothing a few pepper flakes could not fix. Did I say I liked the crust? In the land of thick and squishy crust, this European appreciates a crispy, fairly thin crust! I will definitely be coming back for pizza. Not sure if we will make it one our weekly happy-hour-friend-beer destinations. The TV was blaring, and that is one of my pet peeves. The food was mediocre not worth the money charged. The ambiance was off and not welcoming. they have two video games that arcade style in the corner. I tried to play one for $.50 for it not to work, but the owner still has them there available so they can make money off of them because they needed it so badly. And usually I wouldn't come off as a dick, but we already paid for all of our order before we left to run to Whole Foods across the street because it took 25 minutes to make our pizza. To come back 30 minutes later and it not be ready and they tried to recharge us. Even though the owner was there in the building the whole time even when we walked in and I told them I would be right back that I was going across the street to grab something. Their food was bland their pizza had a dab of sauce on it. And for being a combination, I swear they counted out toppings. Will never come back. My first experience was horrible.
