I've been to this location a few times. I just don't like it. To me the Lithia Springs location just does everything better. I've just given up on coming here. The last experience my daughter wouldn't even eat her fav food, spaghetti. I order the balsamic chicken. It's really good in Lithia, but couldn't be at it here. It was horrible. I will say that we came here again about a week later. Someone informed the restaurant about our awful experience and they said they would make up for it. This time we were seated quickly and, once again, had good service. Our orders were taken in a timely fashion and our food came out relatively quickly. The food also came out correctly this time, which was great. We tried a new appetizer- the sampler platter, which was good. I'll say the dolmedes was not my style but my friends liked it. I decided to try the scallops and pasta- you got a good amount of scallops and they were tasty. I am glad that they were able to remedy our experience after such a terrible time the previous week. I've lived about 20 minutes from the Olive Tree for 25 years and I'm embarrassed to say that this was my first time eating there. I met a few friends for lunch on a weekday. They started us off with a large plate of garlic bread (yum). I got the Pasta Trio and it was amazing! All of my friends enjoyed their meals as well. My family and I visit Olive Tree just about every time we've traveled to Atlanta to see our family. They have a huge menu with reasonable prices, and their food is very good. The downtown Hiram location is more charming than the Lithia Springs location. They don't take reservations, but they can usually seat six of us in the back room without too long of a wait. I love that they offer lighter choices for carb-conscious diners. I've tried their grilled scallops over spinach, shrimp skewers with artichokes and broccoli, and salmon over spinach. All are good, but I lean towards the shrimp most of the time because the broccoli and artichokes are so good! All of their meals come with warm garlic rolls and a house salad (which you can upgrade for a small upcharge). My husband loves their spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs (as good as mine!), but he also occasionally gets their manicotti. My family members have tried a variety of dishes, like the shrimp scampi, chicken parmesan, veal piccata, and fettuccini alfredo, and all have been good. Their cocktails are very reasonably priced (about $8 each), but I'm not a fan because they are just too sweet. Their house wines are decent, however. You really can't beat Olive Tree's winning combination of food, prices, and service! We'll definitely be back! read more

The Olive Tree is like a little taste of old Italy hidden in Old Town Hiram. The restaurant has a beautiful garden on the side which reminds you of the nooks of New Orleans. Upon entry its old world Italian and the hostesses were welcoming and kind. The restaurant was cozy and our server was very nice. They have this amazing bread that tastes similar to garlic knots in bread form. My husband and I both had the ziti and my daughter had the Alfredo. My husband and I got the house salad, we were disappointed not one olive or crouton, maybe we are spoiled. My daughter had the Caesar salad with lots of croutons that she didn't offer to share. I ordered my ziti with light sauce and extra cheese. I got extra cheese, ricotta amazingness and the same amount of sauce. Having reached my mid 40's tomato sauce is not my friend. So I was rather disappointed, my husband order the ziti regular and he said it was pretty good. I ate three bites and could not eat anymore. My Babygirl had the Alfredo and she said it tastes watered down and it was not very good. The sauce had no seasoning and even the added Parmesan cheese didn't help. A smidgen over three stars, but I'll be magnanimous and make it four. Hiram GA has a plethora of chain restaurants. The Olive Tree has the vibe of an independent restaurant, but it's part of a small and popular network. Having sampled several dishes over the years, T and I stick to the Greek side of the menu. Locals seem to prefer their Italian entrees, but me, well...... Greek it is! We typically order fried calamari to top off the salads which come with our meals. We always get a bottle of wine, this time the house chardonnay. (To their credit, Olive Tree stocks a number of bottles for less than $30.) The gyro plate, my usual choice, has a generous portion of nicely seasoned meat, enough for two meals. I substituted fries for what they call Greek potatoes (which I find blah.) T ordered the Greek combo plate. I thought the pastitsio and moussaka were all right but -- sorry -- not the best I've had. We came tonight because my elderly mom lives locally and had a hankering for their plaki, a flaky white fish. Unfortunately, the dish proved unpopular and is off the menu. So she went with grilled salmon. Now look at my photo. Compare it to the other entrees. At $20, the Olive Tree should be ashamed of themselves. Normally plated with a vegetable medley (which my mother didn't want) she asked for something else. Three sad wedges of potato. Surely they could've thrown in another vegetable: broccoli, zucchini ... something! The fish was under-seasoned, but indeed cooked medium as my mother requested. The Olive Tree employs a nice young staff. Gabi, our server, is no exception: friendly, on-the-ball and an asset to her employer. In summation, we had a nice evening out. I ordered here after the good reviews however I absolutely will NOT be back. I ordered a pie and a baked ziti. I asked for Parmesan cheese with my to go order and the guy (looked like the owner or GM) went to the back and brought it back to me. It's so dark in there so of course you can't really see much. I get home, and not only is the pizza burnt, but the Parmesan cheese was SPOILED and had mold in it! Never in my life have I experienced this. Can't imagine how many people ate spoiled moldy cheese in the restaurant bc they are unable to see. Excellent! Our housekeeper recommended this restaurant and we are so glad we went! They offer Italian and Greek choices, we did Italian for entrees but got Greek Desert! I have wanted to visit this restaurant for years. I recently attended an event here, and went back the next week for dinner because the food at the event was so good. The restaurant itself is a really cute place in downtown Hiram. Exposed brick, nice lighting and pleasant. Enjoyable space. Our server was attentive and helpful, and had great suggestions and explanations. Their Greek food is delish! Cheese Saganaki is a must. It was fantastic!!! Hummus!! Tzatiki is also very very tasty. I ordered a dinner with a salad to go. When I arrived my daughter went inside to get the order. She came out and advised me that the manager Martin charged me $4.00 for these little 1oz salad dressings. Folks my order came with a salad even! I called and advised Martin that the charges are excessive/highway robbery. He refused to not charge $1.00 each for these little 1oz sauces! I advised him no problem refund the entire dinner back. This guy is so unreasonable! His business sense is off. Had I eaten in the restaurant they would not charge me for dressing for a salad now would they. Do better Olive Tree. No one likes getting ripped off in this economy! Martin was a pill to deal with! My time and gas wasted going there to end up with no dinner. UPDATE: In response to the owners reply, Martin never asked for your house salad dressing. Asked for Ceasar and was even charged for the one because in total there were 4. Martin refunded me back $21 and lost money over your ridiculous salad dressing prices for what you say is a "2oz" sauce you charge for a full dollar. That is not reasonable. You're not selling gold. It's salad dressing. Yet you do not charge such astronomical prices for salad dressing if one dines in. You would rather make that to go food for nothing and lose the $17 you would have made over this. I won't be back. I support small business but not ones that like to rip people off! read more

My husband and I decided to have dinner here before seeing a movie Saturday night. We were greeted by a friendly host and promptly seated. Our server, Jason, arrived soon after we settled. He was friendly and efficient. He was able to answer questions about the food and make recommendations. We chose the chicken piccata and Sicilian chicken and both were absolutely delicious! All the meals come with salad and amazing garlic rolls. Prices were reasonable for both the drinks and food and portion sizes were perfect. It's located in the historic town and not on the main drag. My coworkers all claimed that this restaurant has really great Italian food. Since they asked me to decide where to go, I chose The Olive Tree. Never did I imagine I would be eating Greek food at an Italian restaurant. I still can't say rather I'd return based on the Italian food. Lol. The night we visited, I chose the Gyro Plate, which was sliced gyro meat served with Greek potatoes, sliced onions and tomatoes and pita bread. Oh, and some good tzatziki sauce was included.
