However, when we tried to redeem it, the owner refused to honor it, claiming the deal was actually for a completely different location. We showed them the coupon, which clearly and indisputably listed the Moonstone address, but they still wouldn't budge. It's incredibly frustrating to deal with a business that won't stand behind its own promotions. If you're going to put your specific location on a coupon, you should honor it. We won't be back.

Unfortunately, the wines did not suit our tastes. Given the owner's pedigree as a sommelier, our expectations were high. I've always been a bit skeptical of organic wines, and the six wines in the flight confirmed my prior experiences. They all had a vinegar-like taste--imagine what a wine kombucha would taste like. You'd think there would be at least one wine that was good, but we didn't find one that we enjoyed. The atmosphere, however, was amazing! We loved the farm environment with a beautiful lawn and tons of room for kids to run around. Dogs are welcome, too! Our server, Stephanie, was also very nice and knowledgeable about the wines. Please know that this is just two people's opinion on the wines. Lots of people must like these wines given the reviews. We visited this time as part of the "Wine for Wildlife" fundraiser, which was a $40 weekend passport to visit 9 wineries (3 tastes/winery). Cayucos Cellars tasting room is lovely. There is also an outdoor patio. We were welcomed by Paige, who is friendly and personable. Our 3-pour "Wine for Wildlife" tasting flight included a Rose' of Grenache, a 2017 Pinot Noir, and the "Rustic One", which was a blend of petit Sirah, Syrah, and Grenache. All were delicious. We bought a bottle of the Rustic One. Looking forward to coming back and giving their full tasting flight a try.

Black Hand Winery, Cambria, CA - December 1, 2023…read more We came in for a quick taste on a Friday afternoon. Owner/winemaker, Tom, was behind the bar and greeted us in his usual friendly way. We're wine club members. We only had about half an hour to taste, so we sped through the the tasting menu. This is a nice little tasting room with a bar and sofa, chairs, and table inside, and numerous small tables and chairs outside in a small courtyard that is enclosed on three sides looking out to the street. Black Hand does mostly red varietals, and that's what we tried on this day - Grenache, Tempranillo, Merlot, Cab. Sauv., Petite Verdo, and Sarah. Tom is a great wine maker, and we always enjoy everything he puts in front of us. The prices here are reasonable, and wine club members get 25% off their wine and 35% off on cases. Cost per bottle ranges from about $40-$50. Tastings are free for up to four people if you are member; otherwise, it's $15 per tasting waived with the purchase of two bottles.
