No other place could help but I called Orchard Street tailors (that's what they were called in most places online) and they responded. Gave me a reasonable quote over the phone (via text) and I rushed over. Then a problem - the pants had no more fabric to let out. Most places would stop there. But Fabian pulled extra fabric from the hem without even shortening the pants. Hence, he's a wizard. Got it done in about 30 mins while I waited. Super professional and friendly. If you have multiple items during weekend might take a bit longer: suggest you drop off before lunch then your items will be ready after your lunch. They open 9-6 so daily. This tailor is my SECRET WEAPON! Their tailoring of jackets is superb and they always make me look skinny. No diet needed. Muahhaha. The first time I came here I simply needed two zippers replaced on a dress and a pair of jeans. The super sweet main guy took a look at the dress and since it's a reallllly long zipper he said it would be a little more expensive to repair-- which I said no problem. Then, a few seconds later, he's staring at that long zipper and randomly grab pliers as I'm standing at the front desk ready to pay him. HE FIXES THE LONG ZIPPER ON MY DRESS RIGHT AT THE COUNTER! Said it wasn't as complicated as he thought and was only misaligned, not broken. Does not charge me for it even though I would've never known. Wow. Moral of the story- they don't take advantage of customers! They are honest, very reasonably prices and their alterations and repairs are done in lightning time. I've been there twice for zipper slider issues. They have been nothing but lovely and helpful. Other places will tell you that they have to replace the whole coat zipper for $40 or $50. That may be necessary is the zipper is missing teeth. But if all you need is a replacement zipper slider and pull, this is the place to go. They will make your entire coat functional for a pittance - and with a smile. I needed a couple of old winter coats to be zippable again. They made that happen in about three minutes - if that. I brought in 4 pairs of pants to be hemmed. That cost me $14. It costs that much PER PAIR in a lot of places. I've been here three times, and they've never given me a ticket or anything for whatever I dropped off. The guy just says, "Nah, I'll remember you." They never called. I tried calling all day and they wouldn't pick up the phone. I texted also. After three days they said we can't find it. No apology. They did refund it. They used to be excellent everything has changed They used to say come back in an hour great work Then it was come back a few days from the date you brought your clothes in. You'd come back it wasn't ready they say you should have called. Another time I called they said come in... came there it wasn't ready said comeback in a few days now I brought the clothes a week ago said I need for my vacation trip they said call first I called the day they said to call and they said not ready again! they said come back next week its not ready. They first told me that it would take a week because I am a new customer (compared to shorter times offered to old customers), then consistently delayed my pickup date every week for six weeks. They're open 9 am to 7 pm 7 days a week. The shop is tiny; only two dressing rooms and they do get packed. If you go early on the weekends, they'll have your pant hems ($3) or skirt hems ($5) ready for you in about an hour. I take my new and my vintage items there and always get great work done at a very affordable price. I've had zippers replaced for $8, and if you need a coat fixed they'll do it too at a great price. Before you decide to come here after the 4 and 5-star reviews, read this one! It may save you a cherished piece of clothing. I have been coming here for a few months, and I'm beginning to see the poor quality of their work now. The hems on my work pants have come unraveled 2 months later. One pair of pants came back to me too short (I have to wear them with flats); another way too loose. Once I brought a work skirt with a rip up the pleat- a quick 2 minute fix. Instead, they made made a hole to the left of the pleat- and insisted it was there before! Their prices are also widely inconsistent. Last weekend, I brought in two work skirts that were too big (had to be taken in on both sides). They quoted me $45 for both. I thought they were joking. I mean, if I had a sewing machine I could tailor a skirt myself. They said that instead of sewing in the sides, they would have to cut and re-sew the back zippers (made no sense to me). I decided to check with Nelson Tailor- they are charging me $20 for both. And they said they could tailor from the sides. That's more like it. Plus the guy there is really friendly. You can tell from reading some of these reviews that Orchard clearly charges people different prices for the same work ($12 vs. $4 hems?). Maybe they've started to get so popular that they think they can jack up their prices? Oh, and forget about same day service. read more

I've been here twice, once for a pair of jeans, and then another time for a jacket that had a button break off. Let's just say that I was way too forgiving. The saga that follows can be summed up like this: go somewhere else where they have their act together and treat you and your clothes with respect! When I brought in the first pair of jeans, they promised that they would retain the original hem and also have a 1 hour turnaround. I thought to myself, "Sounds good to me!" However, that 1 hour ended up being two days, and they even tried to give me totally different jeans! Not to mention that the original hem wasn't there, and they just sewed it up sloppily with white thread (while these jeans are dark with clearly darker blue thread all throughout the jeans). The second time I went in, I thought, alright, this is a simple job to sew on the original button to the original spot. Nope, they manage to screw that up too! Not only did they promise (and again, fail to deliver) a 1 hour turnaround, they forgot all about my garment. I had to hold myself back while pointing out that my now-wrinkled jacket was sitting underneath a pile of clothes 3 feet high on their counter the next day. On the third day, I walk in to pick up my jacket and I see a giant ball of thread (enough to secure a Navy SEAL, jeez!) holding down some hideously colored button to my jacket! They lost the original button and had the audacity to claim that I gave them a (clearly) different colored button! Now, I may be too much of a stickler about people keeping promises. But when it comes to clothes that have cost me more than $100 per piece, I expect a certain respect to be afford me as well as my garments. These people refused to do either, so just be warned. read more

They are cheap, but if you need something done right away, do not so much as step outside for a soda pop. These clowns will tell you it will be done in half an hour and you will hop your cute ass into that lil' vintage store down the way, and come back an hour later only to find your clothes haven't been touched. If you've ever had a superior who likes to micromanage, tell them to bring their annoying bullshit down to the Orchard Tailor, these fools need someone breathing down their necks, and I just don't have the time for it. Don't think that leaving your clothes there for days will mean that when you arrive, you'll have a finished product. You will still have to sit your little butt down and wait. Took a brand new shirt in (literally unfolded it from the package in their tiny changing room) for some minor alterations... got it back with PEN STAINS ACROSS THE BODY. They claim they didn't do it, naturally. Tried to remove their stain, tried to have the cleaners remove it... no luck. Out of a shirt, but at least I can advise Yelpers to avoid. GIven the strangely positive reviews, I assume many of you have no experience with tailoring or what quality tailors can do because this is bottom of the barrel. Never come to this place. I brought a beautiful suit and jacket that was already pinned. they butchered everything and managed to stain both the jacket and pants. when i explained to them, they claimed that the person at the register that day told them I was made aware of the stains, which I was not! The suit had never been worn, and was brand new and spotless. when i asked to contact a manager or owner, i was refused and the man behind the counter started yelling at me. he told me that i must come in the next day when the original counter person would be working. I explained to them that I was leaving for a wedding tonight. they were extremely rude and refused to compensate me for the suit that they ruined. I go here to get all of my pants, jeans, shirts tailored. It is the quickest and cheapest way to get my clothes tailored while I wait. I have been here probably about 7-8 times now, and I have never waited more than an hour for clothes to be altered. Always cheap, and always great service. I don't know how it can get better than this. There is almost no need for my short ass to worry about clothes not fitting anymore. I basically add 4 bucks to the price of any pants I buy and 7 to any shirt and know that it will be a perfect tailored fit! read more

I've been coming to Orchard for a few months. I was initially pleased with their work and their price, but my last few trips have not been pleasant. I notice that their work has become shoddy and they did not START on any of my clothes until I came by, even if I called them the day before to tell them that I was coming to pick it up the next day. Instead, they choose to let you come in, apologize for not getting it done and tell you they'll do it in an hour, then rush to do it and do a bad job. I get preferential treatment because I speak Spanish with a Puerto Rican/Dominican accent, but even the discounts can't keep me coming back here. read more

Hadn't been here in years and decided that I would try this Shop again...did decent work before....simple mending needed to be done like seams coming apart, zipper relaced, etc. Dropped off 8 items on Friday afternoon and told they would ready on Sunday afternoon...made the good decision I thought to wait until Monday after work to pick up my clothes... Once I have the counter guy my ticket, they brought me a lovely evening gown..problem not mine!! Then SURPRISE SURPRISE when they tried to locate my items it was found that they had not been touched!! The counter guy told me there was no day indicated on their part of the ticket....so the items were not touched!! Well of course I lost it and made the mistake of having 3 additional items...thought my others might be ready...dummy.... I decided to proceed and give them a chance to complete ALL the work by Friday....well got a call on Wednesday from the shop to confirm I was indeed showing up on Friday to pick up...thought that was a bit strange... Arrived on Friday afternoon to find my ALL WAS FINISHED!! I examined them before leaving....okay work done...did find many threads that should have been trimmed to make the sewing look more professional..only criticism since I sew but hate doing alterations...
