The hubster and I decided to enjoy a cozy anniversary brunch on Sunday, Aug. 24 (our actual anniversary date is 8/16) right here in the heart of horse country. The Oregon Grille is a beautiful restaurant ~ both their inside and outside garden seating areas. If you're in the mood for an elegant brunch experience ~ you won't be disappointed! The staff were wonderful. We started the morning off with Mimosas followed by coffee and warm rolls with butter. We ask for a sampling of their boisin cheese. Can I tell you how delicious this cheese was on the warm butter roll ~ YUM! This sampling sealed my decision and I ordered the Crab and Asparagus Omelette with Boursin cheese and home fries. We don't eat crab so I requested it be replaced with fresh spinach. My husband ordered the Cheddar and Chive Omelette w/home fries. We both really enjoyed our dishes!! The cheese was soft and warm and the omelette was cooked perfectly. The home fries delish! Mid brunch the grand piano opened and we enjoyed listened to the ebony and ivory keys being played as we sipped our mimosas; followed by coffee as we shared a slice of Apple Cake that was featured on the menu for Restaurant Week. We tried Oregon Grille for Restaurant Week, and overall, it was a pretty good experience. My husband and I ordered off the Restaurant Week menu and shared the chilled sous vide shrimp, grilled Chesapeake oysters, dayboat scallops, and the prime sirloin. Everything was really good, but for me, the dessert stole the show! They were out of the key lime pie, so instead offered a blueberry and goat cheese cheesecake. It was out of this world! Unfortunately, I have to knock our experience down by one star because of the drinks. I ordered a strawberry mojito, and it was pretty terrible. It was flat and tasted watered down. I never send things back, but I couldn't stomach the drink, especially at the $12 price tag. If we return, I'll probably just stick to wine. read more

The only impressive feature of the "new and improved" Oregon Grille is the Patrick Sutton touch -- namely the backlit onyx bar. Apart from that, the food was tragic and almost insulting. As with any Atlas Group restaurant, which have the tendency to lure you in with attractive branding, boasting innovative cuisine and an elevated culinary experience, the food failed to meet expectations and cost an arm and a leg (and maybe a foot too) in doing so. The appetizers were nothing to write home about -- the roasted oysters were lukewarm, the artichokes were wonderfully seasoned yet didn't taste like artichokes at all because of the deep fry, and the plentiful amount of potato skins came with enough crème fraiche for one single serving. The Caesar salad with Manchego was a highlight for me, but it's hard to mess that up. The entrees were where things went rapidly downhill -- the Dover Sole was cold, gelatinous, and the brown butter resembled a Thanksgiving gravy. The steak was cooked well, yet the accompaniments did not work in its favor -- the chimichurri was purely wilted greens floating in oil and the "truffle" butter (along with the "truffle" Mac and Cheese) had but a whisper of truffle -- no better than any Trader Joe's truffle flavored product. But what really got me was the mashed potatoes. They were gluey and tasteless with no salt or butter to be found. If I wanted to eat something bland and pasty, I'd eat actual glue and probably would have been better off. Our waiter, John, was an absolute gem -- warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable -- as were the rest of the staff. However, for a busy evening, it was grossly understaffed, leaving John to do all of the bussing himself. The slow service was forgivable, of course, given this is a new establishment. My only complaint is that the sommelier had a pretty severe case of halitosis, which was unappetizing to say the least. I would only go back for the complimentary bread. read more

Just finished "dinner". It took 30 min to get apps- and another 45 min for dinner to come to the table in which one plate was cold - ice cold - and the other was undercooked. Sat there in the interim with 1 roll a piece which we had to request. The excuse we got was they are understaffed because of Covid. But at $50 per meal I find that inexcusable- plus the restaurant was seated at about 25% capacity in the room we were in. Horrible experience- will NOT be back. I found this place on a wim because I was really craving oysters, but usually oyster places close at 9, but the kitchen was open until 10! I was not disappointed by any means. The oysters were so fresh & I should have just committed & got the full dozen they were so good. The mignonette was perfect & the side of hot sauce did it for me. The Maine lobster was sooo fresh & juicy. I did not even need any of the sauces. The drinks were good & strong which we love. The Sly fox was different & very fruity. The Hidalgo was a cool twist on an espresso martini. Vanilla & cinnamon & an underlying chocolate flavor that definitely came through the reposado tequila & coffee. The best part about this experience was the staff. Everyone was so nice starting with the host, the manager Trevor, the bartenders Jacob & Caroline & Dario. They were very knowledgeable about the menu & they were excited that I was excited to be here. Food was ok. Oysters were good, lobster bisque was good. Steaks (6oz filet) were good and cooked to the appropriate medium. Sides were spinach and the lobster mac and cheese. Both tasted fine but $36 for the mac and cheese with 4 tiny pieces of lobster was NOT worth it. Neither was the crab add on my spouse got with his steak. It was like a tablespoon of crab. Service is not good. Yes, they were extremely busy it was a Saturday night. However, the waiter suggested ordering all items at once because the kitchen was extremely backed up. We accommodated and ordered all at once against our better judgment. The dinner was extremely rushed. They couldn't get the wine to the table with the appetizers, waited 10 minutes for a glass of wine while the appetizers were sitting on the table. Then, our entrees arrived while apps still on the table. The waiter said they would time arrival of foid as if we had ordered normally. Same issue with the wine with dinner, entrees getting cold waiting for the preordered wine. We felt like we had to chug the first glass to enjoy the second with our entrees. We didn't think it would take 20 mins for the wine yet again. Excuse was the bar is backed up. It's a restaurant and it's Saturday night, isn't it expected to be busy? Ambiance is nonexistent. Their website touts a 4-6 Happy Hour in the bar area. Unfortunately, by 4:05 the dozen or so seats at the small bar are filled by the same 6-7 local couples who have staked them out. All to say, the 'trap' is that you're already there. So what do you do? You sit at the tables in the bar area, which you then find out are not included in the enticing happy hour menu and pricing. Instead, whack.You get the 'dinner menu' and pay for full price drinks, and go from a $50 'sip and bite' to a $100+ dinner with drinks. Yes, the ambiance is nice, but it's tough to enjoy it as a result. We will try other establishments who consider that their happy hour applies to the entire area, not just the limited seats around the bar. read more

We randomly came here at 5 on a Saturday for a snack, meaning without a reservation and wearing jeans. I was a bit nervous about being underdressed, even though we only planned on sitting at the bar, especially because their door says "jackets preferred after 5pm." Even so, we were greeted politely at the door and directed to the bar. The bar itself was unexpectedly small, with only 8 seats, but there is also a bar area with several small tables. Decor is old fashioned (many taxidermied animals), but cozy, with a real working fireplace and warm wood paneling. Service was stellar and the real standout from our experience. Our bartender Mark was friendly, attentive, and had great suggestions. He even walked me to the bathroom when I asked where it was. Even though we came just for drinks and a bite, naturally, it turned into an entire dinner! We started with the beef tenderloin sliders, which were served with chips and tasted sooo yummy but sadly were skimpy on the beef. Next we split the rockfish entree, which they nicely separated into two dishes for us without our asking. The crab hash it came with was quite good and outshone the rockfish by far. Overall, it was an okay entree, but we probably would have been better off ordering one of the steak dishes. Even though we were unimpressed by the fish, we took a little peek at the dessert menu and ordered the homemade blueberry slump. It was a nice dessert, warm and not too sweet, served with ice cream. Paired with coffee, it was a pleasant end to our unplanned dinner! I would definitely come back here for dinner, and would reserve a table in the main dining area if I felt like dressing up or if celebrating a special occasion. We had dinner at the bar tonight. Matt was a wonderful bartender. We split the wedge salad which was delicious. Lots of blue cheese and some cherry tomatoes. We had the LOBSTER TAGLIATELLE and the BRAISED BEEF SHORT RIBS. Both were excellent. It may have been the best short ribs we've ever had!! The ambiance was perfect. Love the decor, vibe and music. We ate here for an early dinner on Mother's Day. Our group ordered the rack of lamb (2 orders), the duck and I had the BBQ salmon. For sides we shared the truffle Mac and cheese (it was very dry and not at all creamy) and garlic mashed potatoes (nothing to write home about). I really enjoyed the sweet sauce that accompanied the salmon. I was leery about BBQ on salmon but it was just a hint and really complimented the dish. I finished it all and could've eaten more. I never do that at a restaurant. The people that ordered the lamb said they were still hungry afterwards - there wasn't very much meat on their plate. I think they had order regret. The person who ordered the duck said it was flavorful but fattier than they preferred. For dessert we all got key lime pie, hot milk cake and Oreo cheese cake. No complaints - it was all very good. A bit pricy (between $9-11 each) for the portions but you're not here for portion size. Our server was clearly very busy - he had two very large groups to handle in addition to ours. He was friendly and very competent. He didn't bat an eye at any request and carried on pleasant conversation. As for seating, despite having reservations, we were seated upstairs in a corner at a table that sat in a doorway. It wasn't the most welcoming. Downstairs had a lovely piano player but you couldn't hear it upstairs. Also, the restrooms were downstairs. Not the biggest deal. Overall this is a nice, upscale restaurant with quirky grandfather decor feel. If you don't mind spending the money for "just right portions" it's a fine place. read more

We stopped into the Oregon Grille to have lunch in their bar. They offer a different lunch special every day in the bar for $8.00. We were warmly greeted and served by RJ. The special for today was the Pork Belly BLT sliders. We received two sliders with slow roasted pork belly, pea tendrils, bacon, lettuce, tomato with garlic mayo on a soft roll. Tonight, was my birthday and I asked to go to OG for HH to try the food. i had my husband call and ask where and when HH is and was told by Betsy that it is in the bar, he specifically asked if it was tables as 2 more people were joining. on arrival we were stopped and told NO not the tables in the bar, we explained we called the day before and were told yes tables too. GM Devin came out and basically called us Liars. Said he would do it "just this once" but was not acknowledging that were given the wrong info. I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Oregon Grille. It is an ideal place during the pandemic for outdoor dining - even in cooler temperatures as they have several large heaters at each table. Temperatures are taken upon arrival to ensure customers are healthy, and the tables are spaced nicely. The friendly wait staff is masked and gloved. But the best part is the food! I was asked which course I liked the best and couldn't choose, because each was unique, flavorful, and pleasing to the palate. The lettuces used in the composed salads are tender and fresh and mixed with components that change with the seasons. The chicken fried cauliflower appetizer served with a spiced, hot honey dipping sauce was delicious. My dining companions and myself were very happy with our entrees of crab cakes filled with jumbo meat and very little filler, a thick juicy pork chop, tender salmon cooked to perfection over savory black eyes peas, and pappardelle pasta with large shrimp, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, and shaved aged Parmesan all in a buttery white wine sauce. The dessert didn't disappoint either. The key lime pie was melt in your mouth, the best I've ever tasted. If you are looking for exceptional, seasonal, and creative food as well as quality service in a cozy atmosphere, Oregon Grille is the place. read more

We have always wanted to come to this esteemed restaurant and did so recently, as we were gifted a certificate. We were able to enjoy two meals, a lunch and a dinner, during restaurant week. The setting and atmosphere are real show-stoppers. In or out, the spaces are welcoming and refined, reflecting the locale. Both meals were impeccable. The choices were all interesting and we enjoyed our choices from appetizer to dessert. Even the iced tea was exceptional. However, I regret to say, on both visits we had servers that were not worthy of the high-quality restaurant we experienced at The Oregon Grille. The first was a woman, dark pony-tail, who was muttering about how we were early (escorted in at 5 for a 5 reservation). She remained somewhat surly, forgetful and not really welcoming. Mentioned she was there for 6 years! That surprised me. The second was a man, overly gregarious and jokey. Hung over the back of our 4-top booth and "chatted". Although our experience was quite bad, and led to the review we wrote below, we were impressed by the manager who called us to discuss what happened and apologize. --------- My husband and I recently dined (3/29/19) at your restaurant for lunch. Our business associates from Mexico (who are Mexican) were in town, so we decided a lunch at The Oregon Grille would be a nice treat for all of us. The host that day, an older gentleman, brought us to our table and as he was seating us, he noticed the pin my husband was wearing, which said, I Love Mexico. The host then made a couple derogatory remarks about hating Mexico, and then walked away. Of course, our associates were standing right there and couldn't believe what they'd just heard. Ridiculous!! I'm paying for lunch, not for you to insult my friends. My first instinct was to just walk out and leave, but we stayed. I should have followed my gut and left as things didn't improve. Our waitress, whose name I can't remember but was a middle-aged woman with glasses and hair tied back, was the most unfriendly person I've had the misfortune of meeting in years. I have celiac disease, so I can't eat gluten. I asked her if she had a gluten-free menu, to which she rudely replied, No. And that was it - she just stared at me blankly. I thought she'd say, no, but we can offer you (fill in the blank). I then asked if she knew which options would be safe for me to eat, and she got very flustered by this. I then asked if she wanted to maybe check with the chef about my choices, to which she curtly replied, "No, I said we don't have one." (I think meaning a gluten-free menu). Eventually she got my point and did go to ask the chef, but you could tell she was very put off by having to do so. This is unacceptable, especially for a restaurant of this caliber. I didn't expect a separate gluten-free menu, but I did expect a knowledgeable, friendly, helpful waitress who could tell me my options without acting like I was twisting her arm. For the rest of our meal, she either ignored us altogether, (didn't refill water glasses when empty), or she acted downright hostile if we asked anything of her at all, (like to split the check between two cards). Needless to say, we won't be back - and we now remembered why we prefer The Milton Inn. First, to have my friends/colleagues' home country insulted was completely uncalled for...and then to have a waitress who made me feel uncomfortable about my gluten-free request and made it clear she wanted nothing to do with us was the last straw. A restaurant of this level should be ashamed of employing such horrific, bad-mannered, and offensive staff. read more

I chanced upon this place after a field trip to a nearby farm. Tucked away, deep in the some of the most scenic backroads of Maryland is this quaint restaurant. Though it's only about 30 minutes or so from the city, you feel taken away from the urban rush; suddenly everything is fresh, clear, and relaxed. Upon seeing The Oregon Grille, you get a sense of history, that this place has seen a lot. You almost immediately notice the outdoor dining areas that's perfect big groups or when you simply want to take in the weather. Once you step inside, you are greeted by an ambience that speaks of old world charm. The staff is quite professional yet friendly; attentive without being overly present. The real matter of course is the food. The prices are a bit higher than your usual choices of mall and city establishments, but it's all worth it. The portions actually more than ample, and not disguised by fancy artsy presentations. The kitchen staff do a great job of making the food look elegant, and even the simplest sandwich look delicious. The salads were absolutely scrumptious! My wife had the basic Caesar salad, and I had the Seafood Cobb which I highly recommend. And like I said, the servings were quite generous. The Seafood Cobb alone is good enough for two. The salads come with the dressing on the side so you can put as much or as little as you please. I ordered the Fillet and Shrimp, also highly recommended. My wife got the Eastern Shore pork belly sandwich. The steak was grilled to a perfect medium and the shrimp was absolutely tender. The chimchurri sauce enhanced the savoriness of the meat. Excellent choice by the chef I think, instead of the usual heavy, brown gravy that we're used drowning our steaks with. That slight hint of red wine vinegar was refreshing. I was almost sad that I got too full to taste the pork belly. I always say, people will try a new place for the food; and they will go back because of the service. The Oregon Grille is two for two - well four if you consider the great outdoor environment and the equally fun drive going there. Mind the dress code, and it might be a good idea to call ahead; I doubt anyone will be turned away however. Lots of free parking. They've got everything going. As a staple of Hunt Valley for the past 25 years, it will be sorely missed for the next 4-6 months! The Oregon Grille has been our go-to for aftework meet ups for a few years now. Executive chef Amanda and her team make the experience top notch every time. Amanda's menu never disappoints and staff is always friendly, engaging and fun. We will miss her spring and summer menu this year. I'm sure the renovations will be creative yet classic. TL;DR 3/5 (food) 4/5 (service) 3.5 (overall) ---------------------------------------- I went to Oregon Grille last night for dinner and was unsure of what to expect. I've seen other Yelp reviews and notice a large amount of them stating that the food tended to be bland and the meat cooking was inconsistent. We went with a large group and everyone ordered a fairly diverse amount of food. From that, here are some of the comments from the table: APPETIZERS Short Rib Ragu: the meat was tender and the ragu would have been perfect but the dish was so over-salted it was difficult to eat. Everyone at the table tried and commented in the same fashion. Biggest disappointment for all the appetizers. Carpaccio: delightful and refreshing. Oysters Rockefeller: comme si comme ça. We tend to prefer oysters raw, so I think our opinion on this was a little biased. Charcuterie: classic plating with some tasty cured meats. Pickled beans added a nice, acidic complement to the fattiness and saltiness Cheese board: standard Rolls: flavorless and too soft. The rolls were very large but they didn't have a good crust and were just too chewy. MAIN DISHES Steak/Prime Rib/etc: everyone seemed generally pleased with their beef cuts and the prime rib was really beautiful. Some at the table commented on not getting the requested temperatures of their beef, but nothing so drastic that it ruined their meals. Grouper: Fish was overcooked and the sauce was too salty. Veal: scrumptious. No comments. Duck (this was my dish): Duck Breast had a really nice sear so the skin was crispy. Unfortunately the breast was overcooked to a medium instead of medium-rare. The slaw/rémoulade was a very nice accompaniment as was the sauce/reduction. My main issue with the dish was the addition of the confit and the farro risotto. The confit was expectantly salty but the skin was not crispy and almost gummy/flabby. I'm not totally convinced with the risotto because it wasn't as 'creamy' as it could have been. It made it hard to eat the confit because there wasn't anything to help cut the salt and fat(I found I went through the slaw quickly as a result) Maybe if the confit wasn't on the plate, the risotto would work. Overall, I think the dish was a nice thought but might need a little reconsideration. Scallops: delicious. No comments. Gnocchi: Way too salty for the persons taste. Unfortunately the person could not eat too much of it because of the high level of salt. Burger: see 'Gnocchi' DESSERTS Many at the table ordered dessert. I'm not sure what everyone's thoughts were but I will say that I thought the dessert menu was a little boring. DRINKS Wine: the wine menu(by the glass) is predominately US wines. I would have preferred to see some more French/Italian/Spanish options on the menu. That being said, I asked the waiter for a red suggestion for the Duck, and he gave a very agreeable recommendation. So, shout-out to our waiter for having a reasonable knowledge about wine pairings! SERVICE Waiter seemed to have a little bit of trouble juggling a 12-too plus any additional tables. Drink orders were taken a little sporadically and menus lingered on the table for far too long. The waiter had a very nice personality and handled our large and 'outgoing' crowd very well. Very attentive to our needs. Final Thoughts: - Food tended to be overly salty during our visit - Protein temperatures was inconsistent - for the restaurant style and price range, I was surprised to see these mistakes and wonder if they are a result of the other Yelp Reviews commenting on the food being bland. Hopefully this was just an off-night (it was the Winter Solstice and a few days before Christmas....). We stopped going to this overhyped and overpriced restaurant years ago. As we live very close by, we were eager to try the bar now that Atlas has taken over. The first thing we noticed was the impressive number of employees lined up in the bar area. My wife and I sat at the bar (which was only half full) and waited for service. And waited and waited. Despite a flurry of activity, not one bartender or wait staff ever asked us if we needed help. After 10 minutes of being ignored, we headed to Ryleigh's where we received prompt and friendly service. First of all, why would the management schedule a staff meeting during the lunch hour. Secondly I was unable to get a second drink even though I was one of three people at the bar. Can't praise this place highly enough! We were a party of 2 on a Saturday night and first seated in a really small room right next to a large party of 7. We hesitated, but eventually asked the waiter quietly if we could switch to another room. We were then handled very graciously by several staff members and even given complimentary cocktails until our new table was ready. One of the misconceptions of Baltimore and surroundings is what Homicide, The Wire, and the current tensions amplified by your favorite national news orgs have portrayed to the country. The Baltimore region is a definitely schizophrenic area...there are areas that resemble the meanest of Philadelphia streets, mixed with some stunningly beautiful horse farms north of the city (even good trout fishing on the Gunpowder River just north on I-83 heading up to York PA). Jon Waters, Barry Levinson, Frank Zappa, and David Byrne and of course Poe spent a lot of time here...so this eclectic salad probably shows that it's a seed for some pretty cool elements. The Oregon Grille sits on the cusp of the aforementioned up in Hunt Valley, obviously with a nod to the horse and hunt set. A beautiful interior of lots of mahogany, plenty of stuffed critters at the bar (trout, bass, deer, grouse, etc...), and plenty of prints and paintings to give you the idea that you aren't anywhere near the city...it's a cozy joint with a piano player hired for your dining enjoyment. Gal and I decided to make a holiday dinner while visiting (we both lived here many moons ago..). While pricey, the Oregon Grille has a price/product match with excellent trained staff (understated/and pretty cool...). Was going for the "When In Rome" concept for food...so Chesapeake oysters, rockfish (striped bass for us Yankees up north..perhaps the second Maryland sig seafood after the blue crustacean), and an Eastern Shore pork chop were all excellent. We had cocktails at the bar after dinner; which was interesting/amusing considering many of the local patrons had ties to the horse world where we live in upstate NY. This restaurant is really nice! Be aware of the dress code they have at this establishment before you go. We had the cheese board which was great. The midnight moon goat gouda was awesome. I had the dry aged pork chop as an entree and my husband had the rockfish. The fish was excellent but the pork chop was the best pork chop either of us have ever eaten. Had the entire outside patio to ourselves which was wonderful. Food was delicious and service was amazing.

We have been going to The Oregon Grille for years. Tonight we went for the first time since they renovated the entire restaurant and reopened. We were expecting the same white table service and food we had always had. It was nothing like we were used to. The service was the same as if we were at a local bar and they were out of several menu options. We love wine and had looked up the wine selection before we went. It took us four bottles to finally get to a bottle that they actually had available. Then onto the food - we selected an appetizer only to be told "we don't have that"....then we ordered a steak for 2 only to be told "we don't have that" ...They did give us two free deserts because of the items on the menu being unavailable, but we did not go to dine at The Oregon Grille because we wanted something for free...we knew it would be pricey and in return we expected the cost to be close to worth the food and service ....but missed by a mile!!! I am so sad because this was a place we always knew we could go to and have amazing service and food and feel like it was worth the money. Tonight changed all of that. We will not be back. read more

Doesn't look like much when you drive past, but on the inside it is gorgeous. The piano music is amazing, not too loud and beautiful music. The atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable. The lights are not too bright. The people are so sweet and make sure you have everything you asked for. Never disappoints. The only thing I would have to say is a little annoying is the wait for food. Other than that, it is definitely somewhere you need to go. Definitely recommend. read more

We were excited to try the "new" Oregon Grill , we live close and couldn't wait for a nice place to celebrate near by. Well, here goes.. Bread was served with cheese melted on top, but then we took a bite and it was cold. The potato skins and caviar was good but not the sensational explosion of flavor we were expecting. The Burrata salad was so salty it wasn't enjoyable and then the $72 Dover sole was also too salty too. What happened? I did have some enjoyable bites of the sole but was disappointed it was not 100% for the price. The filet was really good, and thank goodness, because he was paying. The atmosphere was nice but too crowded. We barely fit at our table, and the foyer was more like a closet. The waiters were bumping into each other, and we could walk through the dinning area to get out. The waitress forgot several items and our bill was put on the table before we even had our last drink order. 3.5 stars but 5.0 prices. read more
