Possibly the best Pastrami hoagie in the world!

Needed a quick bite and was craving a sandwich. Last time I got a cheesesteak hoagie but this time I was in for a treat. The place is nice cozy sandwich where you can bask in their admiration of patrons. Each time I ordered a sandwich, I am met with the chef. This man will prepare you for what's to come, The great craftsmanship of his sandwiches. Please come and enjoy their food!

Hands down one of the best Philly's you'll try! One could say you've never had a real Philly unless you've been to Philadelphia. That's a lie, & the Original Hoagie Shop is proof. No thrills or circus, this small establishment is serving up A1 Philly's in Tempe. First timer, I went with a 8" which was plentiful and meaty. Bread was fresh! Combine the fresh Philly and fresh bread, you have a match made in heaven. The freshness of the meat melted the fresh bread giving a doughy texture. The touch of marina style to make my Philly pizza style was just the mess I needed to take it up another notch. Decently priced, fresh sandwich's and good folks .. Original Hoagie, you have a fan in me, ILL BE BACK!

Great service friendly, tons of hoagies to choose from soft serve drinks and snacks. Clean and plenty or seating inside only. Food is great!

The Original Hoagie Shop - A Cheesesteak Done Right! I just had one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever tasted at The Original Hoagie Shop. I ordered the 8-inch cheesesteak for $11.99, and it blew me away with its quality and flavor. What really stood out to me was how tender and perfectly seasoned the meat was and not a single bite had any fat or gristle. One of the best parts? They use White American cheese instead of the typical Cheez Whiz a personal favorite of mine. It melts beautifully into the meat and roll, giving every bite that creamy, savory perfection without overpowering the flavor of the steak. This place is family-owned, and you can feel the pride they take in their food and service. Everyone was incredibly friendly, the shop was clean, and the service was fast. You can tell this place is run with love and care. If you're a cheesesteak lover (or even if you're not yet), The Original Hoagie Shop is a must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back next time for a footlong!

Not the typical fast food sandwich shop... It's not "fast" but be patient because the hoagie are worth it. Solid... I'll be going back.

Decided…read moreto pull out my phone. and instead of using Yelp, I actually just punched cheesesteak into Waze, and what do you know?! I ended up finding the cheesesteak joint. This is actually a food truck, which is parked on the side of the Tipsy Catcus, which is a really cool brewery I also checked out while I was waiting for my order. I ordered the original cheesesteak with the white cheese and whiz cheese combo (I tried to order my usual provolone, but they don't offer provolone as one of the cheese choices) and the fried mushrooms. I was the only person who pulled up around six P.M. and because this was on a Wednesday night, not a Friday night, hence the low traffic. But service was really good. The young lady who helped me out was prompt, explained everything and gave me a pager, which allowed me to go inside the brewery while I waited. One thing to note, while I was talking to the owner of the tipsy cactus, he told me that Friday night and Saturday nights are usually popping. So I wouldn't expect to be first in line on any of those nights. It also looks like they rotate food trucks on different nights, so don't assume that the cheesesteak truck is going to be here every night. I would check the tipsy cactus website, or Instagram page to be sure. It took about 15 minutes for them to complete my order and when I got it home and I dug in. I was really satisfied as the food was super good. Cheesesteak was on point with the prime rib being top quality, and the fried mushrooms were well done, juicy, with a really good homemade sauce that they packed in with my order. I almost forgot about the churro I ordered. And I forgot about it because I accidentally left it in the bag in the car and didn't eat it until the next day. It didn't matter. A short blast in the microwave and this thing was killa. I'll definitely be looking forward to checking this place out again in the future.

You can't see it from the street because a big McDonald's covers it. Cute place - has about 10-12 tables. Open seating. You'll order up at the counter. We ordered: 1. Philly steak max with cheese wiz and 6 wings combo (comes with fries and drink) - we upgraded to curly fries for a small fee. And we picked Honey hot wings as our sauce of choice. 2. Philly steak max with provolone and 6 wings combo (we upgraded to fried mushrooms) and chose lemon pepper dry rub aa our wing flavor. Both got lemonade/iced tea. They have limited options for fountain drinks. Some canned soda. Cheese steaks were big - lots of meat and toppings. We liked both but we enjoyed the one with provolone more. The wings, both flavors were good! We had leftovers and put them in the air fryer later and were even better than original! The curly fries and fried mushrooms were great!!! They hit the spot - crunchy and flavorful. The wings came with ranch and veggies. So did the curly fries. We also got a Thai iced tea - special for $1.99! Overall a great experience. Will definitely come again!

What I really liked about this place is that you don't have to spend $20 plus to have a good lunch, I caught a deal of a smaller Philly steak sandwich, fries and a drink for $10 !!! Great deal and I wasn't overly stuffed afterwards. As for the food itself it was solid, portion size was on point as well. Perfect spot for lunch.

I was looking on Yelp while she was in an office taking care of business and saw this place. When she and my granddaughter came out I asked them how they felt about it. Granddaughter was hesitant because she claims she doesn't like fish but daughter was open to it and I could see online that they had hamburgers and chicken nuggets also. I got the two piece fish with fries and she got the three piece fish with fries because she thought the two piece wouldn't fill her up. The pieces were generous and delicious and the fries were good. She wasn't even able to eat her third piece so she let me bring it home for leftovers. We also got six wings to try out, three lemon pepper and three honey barbecue. We each had one of each flavor just for an appetizer. They were good, a little chewy but wonderful flavor. My daughter and I were both impressed with how good the fish was and neither one of us could finish what we were served. The teenage granddaughter ordered the hamburger special for $6.99 that included hamburger fries and a kool-aid. She wasn't crazy about the Kool-Aid so we brought it home for other family members but she kept exclaiming how delicious her hamburger was! She liked the wings also and we all liked the fries. All in all we were happy with our food and the service was fine, very friendly. The final decision was that it was a good choice! It's inside an old convenience store and does have a lot of items a convenience store would have but we just went for the food. Don't let the outside deter you, the food is worth it and a very very good price. For me the only disadvantage was when I asked for a receipt it just said $40.32 but didn't itemize so there was no way to double check it and I have found so many places make errors that I like to look over my receipt and see exactly what I was charged. I do know that we paid $6.99 for the hamburger special at least that's what it was listed for and my two-piece was $8.99. I think my daughter is three piece was $11.99 but I can't remember for absolute sure and I don't remember how much the wings were but they were reasonable.

This place delivers big flavor in an unexpected package…read more On a recent trip to Phoenix from my home base in Chicago, I got a serious craving for fish and chips--something crispy, hot, and satisfying. After a quick internet search, I ended up at a place called Speedie's Fish & Chips on McDowell. Let me be real with you... when I pulled up, my first thought was: Am I in the right place? From the outside, it's giving more "corner vape shop meets convenience store" than seafood spot. But hey--hunger (and curiosity) won the day. I walked in and discovered exactly that: a vape store, a small market, and tucked off to the right, a humble little lunch counter. No frills -- just a guy behind the counter doing his thing. I ordered the Fish & Shrimp Daily Special ($11.99) and waited a few minutes. When the food hit the counter, WOW. Any skepticism I had about the surroundings vanished in a cloud of fryer steam and crispy golden goodness. The fish? Hot, flaky, and perfectly battered. The shrimp? Juicy with just the right crunch. The fries? Fresh, piping hot, and generously portioned. All of it was straight out of the fryer--no limp or lukewarm bites here. To top it off, they gave me four sauces--ketchup, cocktail, tartar, and ranch--which turned this into a choose-your-own-dipping-adventure. Each bite was better than the last. And guess what? The next day, I went back and ordered the exact same thing. No regrets. Bottom line: Speedie's is not about ambiance. It's not Instagram-worthy, and it might not even look like a restaurant. But if you're in Phoenix and craving solid fish and chips at a great price, don't let the exterior fool you. This place delivers big flavor in an unexpected package.
