This was solid barbeque. Can't say it's the best I've had but it's certainly worth a stop of you're in the area. My family said they line is out the door a lot of times on the weekends, and they have a bunch of indoor seating as well as some outdoor spots. A lot of us got the pulled pork sandwich meal that comes with fries and a large drink. There is a ton of pork and it was delish on its own, as it has a good sauce and flavor to it. But adding their mild or hot BBQ sauce makes it extra good. My grandma got the pork chop sandwich which was enormous, and my dad had the ribs meal - he said they were good but not great. I have driven by this spot numerous times, and today I stopped. As a first time visitor I was a bit intimidated by the menu size, and seemingly hectic corral to the register. I just ordered the famous pork chop sandwich, red potatoes and green beans. I sat at my assigned seat and my food was placed 20 seconds later. The original hog wild is a great place to have a nice pulled pork dinner. On my visit I had the pill pork platter in which was great! It tastes phenomenal! The only down part within the whole visit is the amount of people that go to the restaurant, with that being said if you're a new customer I highly recommend to look at a menu before stepping in. While being inside the restaurant you'll be greeted by fast staff members that are prepaid to take your order and getting it over with. Mmmm, this is a MUST every time I am visiting Chicago. Before we came out here, my husband had been mentioning for weeks that I have to bring him to Hog Wild again. We had a party of 8, including 2 babies. We were sat promptly and received our food quick, as usual. Hubby ordered the brisket sandwich. It was good, however, too much meat for me. I could only take a couple of bites. I always get the chicken sandwich, which is dressed like a philly. It was as good as I remembered! The bbq sauce is phenomenal and I always have to buy a bottle to take home. The max & cheese is too cheesy. This was a nice experience to share with my family while visiting home. Came here based on the reviews. Saw the smoker in the back upon parking and got excited. I ordered the half slab of ribs + onion rings ($20) for takeout. Choose coleslaw as the side and choose the ribs given that's what they hang their hat on. Upon arriving home, I was very disappointed to see that the ribs are clearly BAKED and not smoked. You can tell by the moisture and lack of charring. They look like the ribs you'd find in the hot food section at a supermarket. They were bland nonetheless. Onion rings were soggy. Corn cob was also bland as well with no butter or salt. Coleslaw wasn't included. I'm glad I didn't order the full slab as I gave this away at home halfway through eating it. So we went here got a Togo order and I got pulled brisket platter wife got half slab ribs and we both got Dessert. Cheesecake for me and wife got a cobbler. Brisket was dry like it was days old and wife's ribs were tough but dessert was fantastic, we have gone here on numerous occasions and food was amazing. The time we got to go it was terrible. I cannot stop gushing about how much I love this pork palace!! Time for another update as I have been here three times in the past month.. This place has really been humming the past few times I was here, with lines out the door, each time. I think we stopped in on a weekday evening, a Friday night and a Sunday afternoon and each time it was packed. Good thing is that the owner and his staff run this place like a well oiled machine. Just be sure to look over the menu in line and have your order ready, because you can't get stage freight when it is your turn to step up and order. The regulars will know you are a newbie and glare at you for messing up the flow. I also wanted to point out that the menu has been expanding and they now various daily specials like Pot Roast, prime rib, and walleye dinners, I also must commend them on adding more sides to the menu.. I can now order a side of Mac n' Cheese, or fried green beans, both great additions to the french fries and roasted potatoes. Tip 1: Dine-in and carryout flow in the same line so you will order and pay (CASH ONLY, so get your dollars at the ATM on premises before you step in line) for your food at the counter, step off to the side and find a nook to wait for your order or name to be called for seating. It is a bit awkward standing around waiting, but the food is up extremely fast, so keep your eyes peeled if you are waiting for carryout. Tip 2: BYOB.. I have yet to bring along beer, but I have seen several customers enjoying the option. I will have to update this once I find out the policy. read more

Shrimp shacks, pork palaces, encased-meat emporia, ice cream parlors--they tend to embrace Americana and good cheer. Hog Wild takes its place in this noble tradition. On the other hand...there was a distinct taint of soup-Nazism going on here which was intimidating and confusing to a couple of noobs. "The Soup Nazi" was a classic episode of a great American sitcom; soup-Nazism it is not a welcoming trait of a great American restaurant. Obviously they have a ton of loyal regulars and will not suffer from lack of our repeat business. But it was off-putting nevertheless. . The trademark pork chop is justifiably lauded. For nine bucks you get an impossibly tender and delectably savory slab of swine (plus a couple of forgettable sides). And the giant rib tips are the biggest I've ever seen! Pretty tasty too, although their sauce lists HFCS as the #1 ingredient (yuck). PS. Their website listed a Sunday pork chop & jumbo shrimp special, but I couldn't find that listed anywhere in the confused ordering area at the front of the restaurant. Thus I did not enjoy any fried shrimp about which I had been fantasizing for the entire 150-mile drive. Oh, but there it is listed on a laminated card at my table--when it was too late. Zerg. PPS. Well that didn't go well... I've never been to a fast casual spot that has you standing in line expecting to walk up and order, but you have to give your order to a less than friendly employee before walking up to a cashier and seeing the specials or menu. I asked if they had brewed tea and was told yes only to learn it's a syrup. My food was mysteriously already sitting at my table by the time I got there. How is that even possible? I went in early before the dinner rush, but they must have the pork roast dinners already plated and the young food runners zip the food out and just leave it sitting there. Now mind you... if you have any issues be sure to seek out a manager, as the runners don't have time to be bothered with problems. They don't seem to train their staff how to properly fill a pepper shaker. They pack them so tight nothing comes out. Then the young busboys will discipline you for opening them and spilling pepper all over your meal. Pork roast was dry as a bone and the only flavor came from the gravy. Not a fan of their BBQ sauce. Third of the potatoes were good a third hard and a third mush? Corn cob was soaking in the gravy and smothered in pepper now too. I asked for a to-go box and a new ear of corn wrapped in foil and I was expected to pay $ .55? I tried a private message on fb.com but only received excuses and blame passed onto me for not asking for a manager. The 16 yr old girls can't be expected to seek out a manager. I shop small family businesses 95% when dining out. This family has a lot to learn in my book and stop with the excuses and just address the issues. Apologize, make note of your mistakes and what action will be taken to avoid such basic problems in the future. You'll never know who the mystery wizard is behind their fb.com page, as I asked twice with no responce or name given. I should have taken the recent fb.com 1 star review and responce it received to heart and avoided a visit. The food is delicious everytime we come. My go to is the pulled pork dinner. They load you up... heaping pile of bbq pulled pork, 2 slices of garlic Texas toast, corn on the cob, choice of side (I get green beans or Brussel sprouts) and choice of potato. The decor is so fun to look at and have dinner conversation about. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5, is the cups, to go containers, and utensils are Styrofoam/plastic and not recyclable. I was told this place has the best ribs by multiple people, so we went ahead and rolled deep into this place to see for ourselves. When we arrived, we took the free shuttle bus from where we parked to the front. I thought it was nice of them to offer the free shuttle because the lot isn't that big. Anyways, as we made our way inside, there was a small line, but it moved quickly. We ordered full slab of ribs, jumbo chili cheese dog, pork chop sandwich, and a side order of fried green beans. We paid right after and we were assigned a table number. When we got our drinks and went back to our table, the food all came out! Wow! If you think Jimmy John's is freaky fast, then I don't know what this is called. The food is amazing. The ribs here are really good and it comes right off the bones. This place is similar to Wagners in Indiana, which was my favorite rib place before, but since this place is a lot closer...I am sold on coming here. Also, the pork chop sandwich is really good. I am big on eating ribs, so I only come here during the ribs special which are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Overall, I will definitely come back here. Wow - has this place grown up! It was so small before. Now, Hog Wild has a large campy dining room that feels like eating in someone's den or fishing lodge in Wisconsin somewhere. Love it! The food is good and fast. You order and pay at the counter, then get a laminated pig with a number, they bring food to your table. We had a vairety of sandwiches, including pulled pork, cajun chicken and a boneless pork. They came with fries and everything was enjoyable. Bonus- they actually have two vegetarian options, a portabella sandwich and a large grilled cheese. Hours are limited and change for summer/winter months. I guess I will have to adapt. read more

This place is a true south side gem! My parents took me here for dinner last Thursday night. Luckily I looked up some previous yelp reviews & learned about the ordering process. You have to KNOW what you want when you get up there. (They have menus outside.) I got the full slab of baby back ribs with the oven browns & coleslaw. What I received for the price of $20 was a feast. I got 3 meals out of it. Oven browns for breakfast, ribs for dinner. My dog even got 2 ribs pulled off the bone. The food arrived before we could fill our drink cups, freaking amazing service! Ribs were excellent as was the beef brisket, ( it literally melted in your mouth!) I have no complaints whatsoever & will definitely return. Just wish I didn't live 2 hours away :( The shuttle golf cart is super cute & the man driving it very nice. Once inside, we placed our order( filet steak sandwich with onions/mushrooms and a slab of ribs w/ Cole slaw, ear of corn garlic bread and fries) 2 drinks..grand total..$32.00. 5 minutes after we sat down our food was slid in front of us. Ribs were tender and slid right off the bone but serious BBQ'ers be warned..These ribs are not smoked. They are roasted and then grilled. No smoky flavor to be savored guys..sorry. Steak sandwich was decent, steak was very tender. I scrapped the cheese and bland mushrooms and ate the steak only.
