Pulled pork sandwich and macaroni & cheese were excellent. Mac noodles were mostaccioli/rigatoni type noodles, which was a nice switch-up. My boyfriend ordered the tenderloin dinner, which I was so impressed with that I'll probably order it myself next time. Pulled pork and tenderloin were both very tender and flavorful, not too much fat/gristle. The place was absolutely packed when we got there--line out the door in the freezing cold--but the place was amply staffed and super organized, so we were seated and served within 10 minutes. Apparently, everyone else had seen the same television special featuring the restaurant as we had. The interior was a little cramped at first because of the rush of people, but still cozy and cute--lots of wood, pig tchotchkes, redneck themed thingies on the wall, nice fireplace. This is one of those places where you walk in and you see a huge menu on the wall and then you go to the counter and order. It also looks kind of like a saloon as its quite wood-esque. The menu is basically centered around pork which is a good thing and my mom was in the mood for it. Walked up to the counter and placed our order and they gave us the number to our seats. Not even 30 seconds later, we were about to sit down and her food came out. She ordered a rib platter and I assume that they make so many of them, they had a slab ready to go once the order was yelled to the back. My husband and I took our 2 adult children on Sunday at 3:29 pm, my husband and I frequently eat here and cater all events we have from hog wild, needless to say I love it! What I didn't love during this visit is as the runner brought the Mac and cheese bowls( he was shaking as he was walking toward us) 1 of the steaming hot bowls of Mac and cheese spilled all over my daughter's lap scalding her already wounded thigh. The boy (runner:server) was like I am sorry here's a wet rag, I guess I will get you a new bowl. Another bowl was promptly brought by the manager in charge at the time( I haven't seen him up front prior to today) set the food and asked if she wanted a dessert. She said no & he brought a piece of cake anyway as if that was to make up for the incident. I happened to be out in this area and my cousin actually introduced me to this place. I had the pork tenderloin dinner which came with 2 thick slices of bread, cole slaw and fries. We also had the rib tips as well. As far as barbeque, there are better places so the rib tips were good, but not great. The pork chops are supposedly what this place was known for and from the looks of what EVERYBODY ordered, that seems to be the case. The pork tenderloin was a very large portion. It was tender, flavorful and I'll definitely hit this place up again if I'm around the area (Not around Midlothian often). I absolutely love the decor. The large fish tank in the dining area, the golf cart outside turned into a pig, the interior nik naks... My cousin warned me that this isn't your typical looking restaurant inside. She was so right. Upon entry, there is the lobby where you place your order. You can either dine to the room to the left or right. The right contains the fishbowl. I'm not sure if this used to be some sort of office or what not, but I found it hysterical that the bathroom on the left dining area is literally the a door away! LOL. I recall I had been at this restaurant years ago. So when I heard about it in the media, I had to get back. Went today and got the brisket for lunch. Thoroughly disappointing. Have had brisket at SMOQUE on Pulaski and Honky Tonk in Pilsen where it was a long slab of meat sliced into 1/4 inch pieces and Hog Wild didn't come close. Hog Wild was different and unacceptable. It was basically shaved meat with BBQ, kinda like an Italian beef. Told management and they said that's the way we do it. Too bad. Not happy. Got a slab of ribs to go. I hope it is better. read more

Good thing the food is good because the dining experience leaves much to be desired if you are black and want to sit down and eat. I have experienced Black customers get sorted all in the same area, closest to the fireplace. Segregated into the most uncomfortable section of the dining area. I love everything about this place! When you walk in, the menu is on the wall, so you can decide what you want before going on the line. I usually opt for the pork chop or pork tenderloin with green beans and oven browns! And they do not disappoint. The meat is very flavorful, and I appreciate the fact that they have sauce separate on the table, because I am not a big fan of the sweet bbq (gasp!). I think they have two kinds of bbq sauce, you just need to ask for it! I also really like the oven browns a lot. Perfect crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, and it's seasoned so well! I'm on the Pork Chop bandwagon. I'd yelped before trying this place out, so I knew that was what I wanted (and glad I yelped too because a bone-in chop is not my usual MOA at a BBQ place). Huge place, but they know how to keep the line moving. You order at the counter and they place a number on a table for you. You find your number, sit down and get comfy, and they bring the food to you. Nice! My chop was easily 1-1/2" thick with glorious grill marks. Served with my choice of potatoes (I went redskin) and a side (applesauce). I was extremely doubtful my plastic fork and knife would tame this mighty, meaty beast... but the knife slid right through. And the pork was juicy and beyond flavorful - how is that even possible??! Amazing. No sauce needed. I want another one right now. The owner or manager visited our table and offered up free dessert - brownies or cheesecake. A very nice touch that I didn't see him do at other tables. Good desserts too! So... I really use to love this place. It's still okay, don't get me wrong... They're just not... consistent! I love their Hossa sandwich which is always served on buttery garlic toast. Last time I went there (keep in mind I drive 45 minutes to get there) they served it on french bread! I was so disappointed and didn't realize it until I got halfway home. You also have to really watch how they charge you. It's happened to me twice where they overcharged me by ringing up ribs when I ordered something much cheaper. This is a cash only place, with extremely quick service, huge take home portions, and amazing tasting food. The line is typically very long however they have moving people through quickly down to a science so don't be alarmed when you hit the door or see the parking lot. On my first visit I had the ribs which are one of the best I've ever had. One my second trip I had the pork chop that this place is known for and although it was good I prefer the Ribs. Their mac-n-cheese is delicious and the baked beans are a must have with their little chuncks of wieners so don't swap them out with anything else as they come with the meal.
