Omgggggg this bagel BEC sandwich was everything. Maybe I was just starving when I got this after waiting 10-15 mins for them to make it but it was super good. I got a BEC sandwich on a cheddar bagel toasted. When I walked in at 1pm there were tons of people ordering and waiting for their food. I always wanted to try this place but am always in this area usually for dinner time when they closed. This day we just happened to be in the area around lunch time. Bagel is light and fluffy, bacon is crispy and salty, egg was greasy. Basically everything you want in a BEC. I see why there was a hype about this place when I walked in! Def. This place caters to the college crowd at U-Del and it's on the main strip near the campus. The place is generally busy throughout the day. I've been here a few times and the bagels and service are usually good. The bagels tend to be rather large and doughy which is not my favorite. I like them crisp on the outside and fluffy and lighter on the inside. Being from NYC even there that type of bagel is not easy to find. This place reminds me of the bagel store that was around the corner from my old house on Staten Island (Bagel Bin) which I reviewed a few years ago. Again, the place does a brisk business and if you have a craving for a decent bagel, this will satisfy your needs. As bagel lover our family is pretty loyal to Newark Bagels, today we passed hearts of students in route to this spot and had to see what the buzz was about, some actually pass Newark Bagels on the way here. First things first, I should go on record by stating that not every mom and pop shop uses the same "everything seasoning mix". I realized this here. At The Original Hot Bagel, the salt they use I their Everything Bagel seasoning is the salt they use on soft pretzels. What's the difference? It's saltier. A little different, but good to know in case you you're an everything bagel freak. Cheddar bagel is the bomb. Staff was friendly. Place is clean. Small shop with adequate seating. Okay so it looks like not everyone loves this place, and honestly, it is what it is. BUT I have had nothing but great orders from here so let's go. Whenever I'm off and I'm feeling REAL lazy I crave an egg, meat, and cheese sandwich from here. Also I only order it for delivery because why would I try driving and parking on Main Street. NO THANKS. Anyway. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious. I tend to do the turkey sausage, egg and extra American cheese route. They have sososo many good bagel options which makes it super tough but I've being going the Garlic Bagel way lately because who doesn't want to smell like they bathed in a vat of garlic? Certainly not me. My husband tends to go with the scrapple, double egg, and cheese. He changes things up a lot so he's had a tomato bagel, an egg bagel and the jalapeño bagel. All have been great. Their hash browns have that yummy fried taste to them. I did get the potato hash thing once and it was okay and while I do enjoy onions and peppers, that girl was overloaded. Which was fine. But a lot. Heartburn was real. Never had an issue with an item missing or being wrong! Already looking forward to all future breakfast sammies. read more

Back in town and decided to return for my usual bacon, egg, and cheese on a sesame bagel. Came to an even $5, which is just above the middle range of the breakfast sandwich price spectrum. It took just a few minutes to prepare. The bagel itself was soft and perfectly baked. They use two slices of American cheese, which melts nicely holds the foundation together. The egg was fried just right and I loved the crispy, thick slices of bacon. Truly, I got what I ordered. This is my spot for bagels in Newark and I am satisfied with my decision. read more

First of all the bagels are really good!!! - if you get what you order. I would say 2 out a 3 times order isn't correct, they forget any extra items you add but you are charged for it. I suggest you double check what you got prior to leaving especially if you drove there!! Think we decided we might go back to Newark Bagel and try again. read more

However, during my most recent visit they couldn't find my phone order so I just placed it in person. I watched the employee cook my food: one hand was gloved and the other was not gloved.
