Not great. I decided I needed pancakes for lunch, and this place was close to my work. They get points for fast service-I did a pick-up order. The ambiance was okay, the lady who took my order and brought out my order wasn't overly friendly. She wasn't mean or anything, just didn't seem bothered that I was there. The place looked like any other diner and lacked personality. The biggest con, however, was that the pancakes were not very good. It's hard to mess up a pancake. I got an apple-cinnamon pancake, and the apple-cinnamon topping looked exactly like the canned kind-gelatinous and flavorless with too-perfect, giant pieces of apple. The pancake itself was overly-bready, a bit on the dry and mealy-textured side. I was not impressed and didn't eat very much before admitting pancake defeat. It was a shame that they did not satisfy my pancake need that day, but I suppose there are bigger things to worry about in the world. There was only one waiter in the restaurant on a Saturday morning so even though she was moving as quick as she could, she was slow getting to everyone. Management needs to address this weekend morning staffing issue. It isn't fair to the one waiter trying to take care of everyone. I ordered 2 blueberry pancakes. Those were the toughest most tasteless pancakes I think I've ever eaten in my life. They need to look into using a lower gluten flour and slow their mixer down so they don't get so tough. If it wasn't for the blueberries they would have tasted like bland flour cakes and that's it. I doubt I'll be back. And you probably shouldn't bother going. read more

Came in for breakfast earlier this week, with a craving for pancakes. Being branded as a "pancake house" we thought this would definitely check that box. Sadly, the pancakes fell short for us. Though they looked beautiful, they were a dry and lacked flavor. Coffee was also quite mediocre. We got there at about 6:30, and found the dining room lights off, the open sign on and the sign on the door saying that they open at 7. We thought we would sit and wait in the parking lot, hang out and talk. After about 10 min, we saw people walking in. Went in also and asked about the sign. Was told "oh yeah, we need to fix that". Place is decorated in everything Hobby Lobby. Signs, fake ivy on things, etc. During our breakfast, we needed up realized that the average age of the diner had to be in their late 60s. Service was ok, getting a coffee refill took asking. The food was good, but nothing superior. I got the southwest skillet with pancakes and my daughter got the blueberry waffle. All fine and as you would expect. Good portion size for the money. Biggest issue was the drinks. I got coffee and she got hot chocolate. Both were very watery, with her cocoa looking odd. You want a tip..... I'll give you a tip: learn how to cook, take an order and how to manage. This is the worst breakfast restaurant in St Louis. The food is bland and dry. The staff is not interested in getting your order right. The manager refuses to deliver customer service. In fact on my recent second regrettable visit after waiting much too long the waiter gave my order to my son (a skillet) and then acted like he expected me to take his. Not what I ordered. Then took 15 minutes to rectify it and waiter said he was talking to the manager. The manager never came but the check came with no adjustment so I figured the missed adjustment was my $15 tip. I was then standing in front of the restaurant with my family and the manager came outside and tried to berate me for not tipping. I am one of the most generous tippers you will find but do refuse to tip when nothing is received to warrant it and no acknowledgement by the manager of poor service and the mistake. A tip is not an entitlement but rather earned. Maybe ask what you did wrong instead of causing a scene. This place will be closing soon..... don't waste your time or money for overpriced cafeteria food run by a sociopath. read more

Well, the chicken was never replaced and then she put in my to go order for chicken fried steak. You get the option of eggs (done your way) and toast or pancakes. Waitress, never asked me what I wanted, so I got scrambled and toast. Grrrr. Well, when the waitress brought to order to me, I realized it was already wrong and I noticed she even wrote "scrambled" on the ticket (without asking me!). Anyways, management made it right for me, she adjusted my bill a couple of dollars and gave me a spare stack of pancakes for my order, and was very pleasant and appreciative of the feedback. So, I want to return, because from what I had eaten and experienced, it's a nice place overall. Well prepared dishes, friendly smiley staff and not pretentious. So value, good. Taste, good. I was thrilled when a breakfast spot opened up so close to home, but after 3-4 visits, I regret to say: NO MORE! The food here tastes like it was prepared by someone who heard a vague rumor about breakfast food but had never actually tasted it, let alone learned how to cook it. On our latest (and hopefully final) visit, the coffee was lukewarm, the hash browns were colder and harder than my ex's heart, the pancake had a charred bottom that could rival a campfire, and someone who ordered a burrito received an omelet instead. We don't usually like to make a fuss, so we just took it. None of us finished our plates, and no one bothered to ask if we were enjoying our mystery meal. Interestingly, the host was having nice, polite conversations with other guests, asking how everything was. When I went to check out, they just stared at their shoes, as if making eye contact might turn them to stone. $60 for three people, by the way. I was ready to share my culinary horror story, but they never asked. I left a generous tip of over 20%, mentioned our issues, and started to leave. As we were walking out, they shouted "SORRY!" at me, with the tone of a teenager caught sneaking out after curfew. Odd for a grown adult. Or maybe that's just my perception. No offer to discount the food we didn't eat, or refund anything. Nothing. Also, the picture of Mother Teresa on the wall is a bit creepy. Maybe it's just that this is in a wealthy area but $75 before tip for 2 adults and 2 kids just seems insane for the mediocre quality of this food. The pancakes were dry, the French toast was just sandwich white bread and the skillet was essentially unseasoned. Would you like some wet unseasoned spinach on your hash browns? Probably not. Everything seemed like pretty basic foodservice stuff, maybe this is ok at the airport but not great as a standalone place. Upon sitting down, I wanted to order their coffee, which they say is pretty darn good. But then I asked if they have real half and half or cream and all they offer is an artificial creamer. I know, dumb thing to bring up, but this was our first time here and I find it crazy that they would go to the bother of locating a unique coffee and then they do not want to make that experience special. So, I saved $4 for that! After debating about leaving as this represents a strange way to be in our minds, we ended up staying to try the food. The prices are slightly higher than what I would think about breakfast, but maybe not so out of line these days. We each ordered the 2 eggs and I had the pancakes and my wife had the bacon. They do not offer much in the way of gluten free, but my wife was able to find this item. We do like the large windows and lots of light coming inside. The staff were friendly and pretty good. The hash browns have little flavor and hard to cut up. The pancakes were also hard to cut and served on a small plate (too small to cut and add syrup). The eggs were medium as ordered. But upon cutting, they were runny on the other side. So that was a bit strange. We concluded that we probably would not make a return trip. Maybe you find it different than us. It seemed that the ingredients were made of inexpensive (cheap-sorry) and I us, that was how we perceived it. Maybe the owners, who I know are really working hard to offer quality, may wish to revisit the suppliers or basic ingredients. The fake creamer should have given us a heads up I. The rest of stuff. This is my first time eating at this place. My first impressions were all positive, Friendly, Children Friendly, and Clean. Since the restaurant wasn't crowded I asked for a table by the big plate glass window. My server, Chris, came up to me with a smile and welcomed me. She kept tabs on me and I would give her 5 stars. I ordered the 2 Eggs breakfast with Sausage. I ordered my eggs scrambled and link sausages, fresh fruit vs hash browns and pancakes vs toast. When the food arrived everything looked fresh and hot. My eggs were cooked nicely, the 3 sausage links were tasty, the fruit was fresh and delicious. The 2 pancakes were very fluffy. I haven't seen this at a restaurant that I can remember. The taste of the pancakes were off just a bit. I'd recommend adding some sugar or vanilla extract to the batter. I enjoyed the view from my table. First, they were BUSY which is great to see since they are only one week open as a new family-owned business in the neighborhood. And service was still good. Keep up the great work! This is a neighborhood breakfast place that's always humming. The interior is neat, tidy, and very clean. The servers are friendly and very prompt. For the most part, everything on the menu is great. The pancakes are excellent and so are the omelets. The biscuits and gravy aren't very good. It's just white gravy mix and it tastes like paper mache paste. The hash browns are also a roll of the dice. One person at our table got hash browns that weren't browned at all and another person got perfectly browned hash browns. We ordered: 1. a biscuit and gravy. E was not thrilled probably because there was a hair in it. They replaced it very quickly though. She is particular because she has a really good biscuit and gravy maker. 2. An egg bacon and hash browns the eggs were over cooked and dry. We order cracked scrambled eggs but it appeared as though they were blended and not freshly cracked. I questioned this but they assured us they were. 3. I got a skillet with bacon and sausage mushrooms. It was bland it tasted like bacon could not taste the sausage l. It was okay but I was expecting more. We eat out at breakfast and I would not come back. It is a very good breakfast if you don't want to cook at home. I can do better. The pancake were very fluffy. I am not sure that I like it that way.
