The Original Pizza City was our final stop on our weekend pizza crawl, Location #6, Slice #8. I've said it a billion times if the foods good I'm willing to forgive just about anything, but, i cant help but note the state of the interior here, place was super filthy, one table had some guac or other green paste sitting on it that had crusted over in the day, and when i had to use the bathroom, i walked in, took one look and walked back out. No exaggeration, it looked like someone grabbed a Super Soaker Hydrocannon, filled it with urine, pumped 100 times, and let loose at the front rim of the toilet seat spraying the entire room- now that's grody. Cleanliness aside, there was a fateful occurrence here I'm thankful for. I was thirsty again and saw something strange in the cooler, Good o Kola Champagne Soda, they only had one in the entire unit, so i decided to give it a shot. Good O, was the real MVP of the night- best soda I've had in a very long time, think Bubblegum, and Haribo happy cola bears melted down into some Rootbeer, and you get Champagne soda- magnificent, shame ill probably never get to try it again. 5/5 soda for sure, if you ever pop in here, and you see Good O on display grab it and give it a try, you wont regret it. Pizza here was in the form of a plain slice, which was middling at best. Texture was almost there, crust was a little dried out for my liking, could have also done with a spot more sauce. Flavor wise crust was bland, cheese was your typical restaurant grade mozzarella, and sauce was fairly unassuming- the little that was there. Price wise things were pretty average 2.25 a slice, no up charge for using a card was mentioned so i assume there's none. PIzza was average if i'm being generous, interior was trashed even if i'm being generous, service was alright however, pizza was heated quickly, ringing up drinks was done quickly as well, getting a response on if there was any Good o in the back / storage was a bit slow on the uptick though. All in all PIzza CItys par for the course in regards to pizza, its about average for the area, a bit below what i'm used to, but by all means, that doesn't mean its bad. I ordered a Fat Zak (2 pizza slices with mozzarella sticks and French fries all wrapped like a sandwich). The pizza was delicious and mozzarella sticks were perfectly fried. But the French fries weren't as crispy and it was a little frozen. There was a lack of marinara sauce inside the "sandwich" and they should've provided some more on the side. Grabbed a slice of plain cheese pizza and tried the garlic knots when I was visiting the area (since my beau goes to Rutgers and lives a couple blocks away). I love Pizza City. It is my classic Rutgers late night hang out spot, and has been my entire time here as an undergraduate. The atmosphere is a little grimy, and the place itself is not the cleanest, but it is never any more dirty than any other pizza place in New Brunswick. Anyway, the main strengths of Pizza City lie, surprise surprise, in its food. The pizza is always a solid choice, and they generally have a wide selection. Personally, I find their buffalo chicken pizza and their white pizza with broccoli to be some of the best I've had. What really stands out about Pizza City, however, is their tacos. If requested, they make fresh authentic tacos which are simply amazing. Served with lime and cilantro (or you can customize them if you desire), the three tacos you get for $6 are completely worth it. Coming in chicken, beef, chorizo, or pulled pork, they are very filling and simply great. Pizza City is also open very late (till 3 I think) every day except Sundays. The menu describes the fat Zak is two slices of pizza rolled up like a wrap around traditional fat sandwich ingredients, though half the time whoever is behind the counter doesn't know how how to roll a wrap and just lays two slices of pizza together like a sandwich with half the ingredients between them because they don't all fit that way. Yes, I remember this place during my college days. I stumbled upon this place coming out of Olde Queens Tavern one night. The place is next to Tido & his junkyard dog. They sell different kinds of pizzas, hence the name Pizza City. I had their buffalo chicken pizza which I enjoyed. Maybe because I had too much to drink that night and I was very hungry, but it was delicious. The buffalo sauce has that extra kick which I enjoyed. They are open pretty late too which is convenient for those who love to stay late nights. They were still open when I got there at 2am, so Im guessing they close at 3am?? Pizza City is a small pizzeria tucked in the corner off of Easton Avenue. It's right next to one of the greatest burger joints in New Brunswick, Diesel and Duke, but that's another story. This pizzeria looks small from the outside, but has a reasonable amount of seating area on the inside with classical pizzeria booths and benches. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I got the usual plain slice and then I decided to go with the chicken-bacon-ranch as a specialty. I personally am not a huge fan of chicken on pizza like many other college students seem to be. I've never even bothered with the CBR slice before today but seeing the slice behind the glass told me I had to try it. The CBR slice was absolutely fantastic. The chicken wasn't too dry and was flavorful. The bacon was just the right amount of crispy and the ranch was rich and creamy. The flavors of the slice worked really well with each other and the thin base of the pizza really emphasizes the other ingredients. The plain slice was also quite charming, sporting a thin base and a light crust. The slice was light in general for a pizza slice, but still filling nonetheless. It was pleasantly crispy and the cheese was very good. I didn't think highly of this pizzeria before stopping in, but I left know that I would happily return to enjoy another slice in the future. read more

Ordered online for delivery. My pizza was as hard as a brick topped with some cheese to cover up. Wings looked so unappealing smelled funkish, French fries were also overcooked. I called to ask for a replacement order, guy told me there was nothing they can do. My order seemed as if someone else ordered the same exact thing earlier then cancelled. It seems as then later warmed up and delivered to me. I asked for a manager I was told he wasn't there. As I made him aware I know this line of work especially what old dough is. The only way to get replacement order required for me to take back. What's the point of ordering delivery?? I feel sorry for people who think this pizza is the best. Not so much folks. Went there for the first and last time today. Had a plain slice and one with bacon and ranch dressing.
