The ice cream here is honestly really good. The original rainbow cone is definitely the standout despite having five different flavors stacked together, everything blends really well. None of the flavors overpower each other, and it ends up tasting balanced and unique rather than overwhelming. The place itself has a really chill vibe. It's not loud, and the ambience is nice if you just want to relax and enjoy your dessert without the usual busy dessert shop chaos. Service-wise, it's surprisingly not that crowded. It feels like not a lot of people have discovered this spot yet, which is kind of a hidden gem situation. Because of that, the experience is smooth and easy, no long waits. Overall, definitely worth checking out especially for the original rainbow cone.
This location is the first and only location in California as of the date of this review. Very cute little spot. It used to be a boba shop at one point. The inside smells very sweet because they also make fresh mini donuts on site. The Original Rainbow Cone surprised me. Anyone that knows me knows how much I'm not a fan of orange flavored desserts. But in this mixture, it's works very well and I actually enjoyed it. The multiple flavors in one seems like a weird concept but for me the flavors really worked well together. We love this place. We even got our last birthday cake here. Order must be placed 48 hours in advanced. We got the cookies & cream cake and it was enjoyed by both adults and kids.
The original rainbow cone is a must! We were in the area for some dinner and noticed rainbow cones bright inviting decor and knew this would be a post dinner treat. When you walk in you're immediately greeted by friendly staff and bright colors, it's impossible to not be in awe by the original rainbow cones vibe. With custom creations like the cosmic birthday cake , chocolate obsession, Superman dream and freshly made mini donuts there's something for everyone. Since this was my first time I had to go with the original rainbow cone, organza cream, pistachio, strawberry, chocolate and palmer house. These flavors sound very as a combo and looks even more whimsical but once you get it and give it a try , it was almost perfect how the flavors compliment each other for layers of a unique mix. I thought it gave a very similar vibe of spumoni ice cream. I really enjoyed the uniqueness and the variety the original cone offers, we will def be back to try more menu items!
What a fun, lively place for some dessert. They are know for their rainbow colored layers of ice cream that are stacked onto a cone. I love that the cones have a drip collector so your hands don't get sticky - smart idea! You can also choose to enjoy your ice cream in a cup or waffle cone. They have some pretty cool flavors and you can even sample them before you commit. They also have an array of mini donuts with toppings too. You can grab an ice cream cake to take home. Service was amazing! Sarah was bright, cheerful and super helpful. She made the experience special. Yum - come get some ice cream and sit inside or outside under umbrellas.
Rainbow ice cream has become my go to ice cream spot ever since it open in Cypress! It's in a quaint little plaza next to Cypress HS, surrounded by other food businesses. The location is convenient to hit up after dinner (or any time of the day)! The workers are always so friendly and patient. They get the scoops out quick after ordering. You can also sample flavors so if you're unsure about what you want, definitely try the Superman - it's fruity and creamy at the same time, which has become my all time favorite!
This place is small, but really cute, the bright colors attract the people and bring them in making them wanna look at what's going on inside. The ice cream cone flavors are unique and flavorful. The way they stacked the ice cream on the rainbow cone is wild. The flavors are bright, vivacious and delicious, Sarah was the one who helped us with the cash register. She was kind and had a good personality.
A solid new ice cream spot in Cypress. Came here after dinner close by to see the ice cream scooping method in person. Their layers of ice cream of 5 different flavors is definitely unique. The price was great for what you get. Is the ice cream the best you can get? No, but its still tasty and worth a go once to see if you'll like it. Service was fantastic
Amazing ice cream spot! Awesome service! And the decor is simple and beautiful. I love taking my daughters here. I personally love their restroom lol it's very clean and well maintained. I definitely recommend the coffee shakes too! and the donuts are delicious as well. Will be going again soon!
First time here but I've known about this place and since we came to Kura next door, it was a perfect time to try it. Nothing special about the ice cream flavors they offer. It reminds me a lot of Thrifty ice cream except the scoops are in slices. An interesting way to serve ice cream. Glad I tried it, but not sure when I'd come back.
The Original Rainbow Cone completely stole my heart! It was our first time trying it after having dinner, the place is very colorful & cute! We were kindly greeted by staff, Megan at the counter helped us navigate the options they offered for ice cream and even mini donuts! We were able to try a few flavors prior to making a final decision, they have small and large portions. You get to pick up to 5 flavors! I thought that was awesome, you get a little bit of everything. They also have outdoor seating to enjoy your desert. We look forward to coming back for more delicious ice cream.
Stopped by after Adventure City and this hit the spot. Portions were generous for the price, definitely worth it if you're coming with kids or just hungry. Got the ice cream and it was creamy, flavorful, and not shy on scoops. Service was quick and easy, and it's a solid spot to cool down after a long day out. Nothing fancy, but it does what it's supposed to do. Would come back.

New ice cream shop that took over the boba store. It has cute decor and the smell was amazing from the donuts. We decided on shakes because the counter gal wasn't too knowledgeable about the ice cream when I asked. I loved that they came with donuts on top which were so light and crispy. The shakes were delish as well. I preferred the Nutella banana over the mint chocolate chip. The Nutella banana donuts were so good and unexpected. I do wish they would have allowed for two flavors when ordering a dozen though. read more
I fell in love with the Original Rainbow Cone in Chicago, so when I found out there was a location in California, I had to stop by--and it didn't disappoint! The selection here was a bit different, which made it even more exciting. I went with a junior scoop of the Cosmic Birthday on a sugar cone, and it was both beautiful and delicious. Honestly, just as good as the Chicago location, maybe even better. Can't wait to come back and try the donuts and more flavors. Highly recommend this spot for a fun and tasty dessert! read more

This was my and my friend's first time here, and as avid ice cream connoisseurs, it totally lived up to the hype. We got our own custom flavors in a cake cone and a waffle cone, and it was a fun and delicious experience. I find it so unique that they scoop the ice cream into squares, and it lets you choose more flavors (which is perfect for indecisive ice cream lovers like me). The amount of ice cream we were given for the price is also such a steal! Definitely worth coming back for. read more

I love this location! I've only had the ice cream in the past but decided today to get a milkshake. I was not disappointed the presentation was so cute! I came around 1 on June 4th and even though the store got a little busy it came out in a timely manner! I will definitely come back to try the other delicious options!! read more
Drove by the other day and noticed that this place was finally open. Yay. So excited to try we decided to come today pouring rain lol. The place looks super cute. Very small some sitting inside but mostly outside seating available. Today's visit I decided not to get ice cream but I tried the donuts. . My son had ice cream he liked it and of course he wants to be back to try more. They have a small selection of cakes and cakes slices. maybe we can try that next. The store just grand open on 2/14. We stopped by and got their original rainbow cone. $7 The ice cream is good. It is on the pricey side on the portion size. 4/5 They only have one table with 4 chairs. There is a side bar with some chairs. There are more tables outside in the patio. Was very intrigued by the original five layer cone, not only for the flavor pairings but also the apparently long history, so have had this place saved in my Places to Try list for a while. Had to go to Cypress anyways for a licensing exam, so figured why not stop by here too? Got a rainbow cone for $7.53. Sounds expensive but you get five flavors at once, so for someone like myself who loves trying multiple flavors but can get flavor fatigue, it's better than ordering each individually. Plus you can customize the ice cream flavors so if you have a combo in mind, go for it. Honestly the cone delivered exactly what you would expect: no fuss, creamy, tasty ice cream, with each flavor living up to the name. I'm still mulling over whether I enjoy eating the flavors together - sherbet with chocolate was too jarring - but each flavor on its own was great. Not sure if the sliced aspect really adds anything, but I enjoy the creativity. Was a great pick me up for that afternoon, and would recommend visiting to try the ice cream if you're around and don't intend to go to Chicago anytime soon. However, what really incited me to post a review in support of this shop was the super friendly customer service. Unfortunately didn't catch the name of the female worker helping me but she was so nice! Additionally, they have this nifty plastic cone holder that catches the drips from your ice cream. I'm sure this isn't novel but it's my first time seeing one and found it thoughtful (though probably not the best environmentally). Storefront was super cute and bright, with merch for sale. If you sign up for their rewards program you get $5 off your next visit, so if you're planning to visit, I'd suggest signing up online first. I'm so happy they opened a store in California after having the rainbow ice cream several times in Chicago. The slices (not scoops) here compared to Chicago are very generous and the price is reasonable. I love the flavors of the rainbow cone, from top to bottom: orange sherbet, pistachio, Palmer House (New York vanilla ice cream flavor with cherries and walnuts), strawberry and chocolate. Life is too short to just have one flavor. I hope this store succeeds and thrives. read more
Stop by this cute, colorful, delicious shop! Apparently, the rainbow cone originated from Chicago, so my Chicago-native boyfriend and I had to check this place out. The rainbow cone comes with five slices of ice cream (chocolate, strawberry, pistachio, Palmer House - cherries and walnuts, and orange sherbet). All five flavors were excellent, and I was surprised to see how they managed to fit all slices into one sugar cone. We also got a pint of the original rainbow flavors to take home, it was that good. This ice cream shop just opened up in Feb. 2025. The banding and logo are adorable. There is very little indoor seating, just a couple of counter seats and one table for 4. The gimmick of the ice cream scoop method is probably what makes this place interesting. The ice cream itself isn't the best I've tasted in the area. I am interested in trying the ice cream cake, which is available for purchase in slices. My family was not impressed and probably won't return if we are craving ice cream. read more
Truly such a fun and unique ice cream spot! The staff was so kind and helpful in deciding what to get since everything looks so delicious. They have unique layered ice cream scoops, made to order mini donuts, slices of cake, and more! I absolutely loved the chocolate obsession (with 5 different layers of chocolate and/or peanut butter goodness my favorite layer was the brownie one ) and my friend loved the creamsicle - looked like a perfect summer treat! amazing sweet treats, cute and clean, and very friendly service. a must go this summer! read more

When I'm wishing and missing some Chicago cool weather (like they're having now) but instead we have 90+ degrees ... one has to resort to finding a little Chitown in SoCal. Portillos is delicious but too hot for this weather and one instead goes for the original Chicago Rainbow Cone and the beach Omg that Palmer House vanilla with cherries and walnuts was the icing on the ice cream. You'd almost forgotten about it then you taste it again and your brain is like... where have you been all these years Thank you Cypress, Ca for bringing some much needed great tasting Chicago style ice cream to SoCal. read more

Such an adorable small shop with great decor. First time there and the service was kind and friendly she provided us information about the flavors and gave us samples. I had the original rainbow layered ice cream and my daughter got the pirate party it was tasty and very Sweet. We signed up for there rewards so next time they offer a discount so worth it and we will be there again. read more

Crystal's service was 10/10! She was so patience while we tried all of the different flavors AND even remembered my name when we came back. We ordered the mint chocolate chip on a waffle cone, cookie dough on a waffle cone, and a chocolate on a regular cone. We also ordered powdered sugar doughnuts. Mint chocolate chip tastes like shamrock shake from McDonald's. Cookie dough was creamy and buttery in all the right places. Chocolate likes several flavor bursting in your mouth. Doughnuts just came fresh out of the machine. They tasted like beignets from Disneyland Louisiana!! Real reviews from a 14 year old and a 13 year old. read more

Loveeeee that they brought a Chicago novelty to OC! Got the classic rainbow cone and the flavors never miss. It's a unique combo that weirdly works together - must try! If you're not feeling a rainbow cone, they have other flavors of ice cream available, alone with shakes, sundaes, and slices of ice cream cake. They also have mini donuts in 9 different flavors that looked & smelled delicious; we will be coming back next time to try them. Two small things I didn't enjoy: 1. Because they fry the donuts fresh in store, if you're eating inside, prepare to smell like fry oil for the rest of the night. 2. The scoops seem inconsistent...our cone seemed smaller than other pics I've seen, but could've been the angle. read more
The original rainbow cone is a unique icecream spot in Socal. The ice cream looked decent from the outside window. So I tried the ice cream after dining in at the Kura Sushi. I ordered personal choice of few different flavors including Pirate, Superman and Strawberry. The ice cream was very decent but just decent. The staffs were friendly to let me try different flavors. We came here relatively soon after their opening after dinner next door--definitely enticed by the amazing smell pouring out of the store onto the sidewalk. I later discovered the smell, reminiscent of funnel cakes, was the fresh donuts being made. Rainbow Cone's "thing" is sliced ice cream, popular in the original location of Chicago. It's a cool novelty. The service from employees was great: they were all very lovely and patient as people trickled in and out, and the store was pretty busy. I ordered a scoop of pirates bounty, a unique caramel flavor with mix ins of M&M's and Oreos, my boyfriend got a sundae with mint chocolate chip, and my brother ordered the chocolate obsession sliced creation. I loved the little catcher on the cone to get the drips and i wish all ice cream places did that!! We all loved the ice cream quality and taste, and my only gripe is that my scoop was pretty small compared to the scoop i saw other customers receive, and what my boyfriend received in his one scoop sundae. We will definitely come back as I'd love to try the donuts and ice cream together next time! read more

Came on a Sunday night after seeing this is the first west coast location open! I specifically wanted the rainbow cone because of how unique/pretty it is. The ice cream is your regular ice cream shop ice cream - think Thrifty, not Salt and Straw. It's pretty cool to get 5 flavors on one cone and the little cone buddy they give you saves sticky fingers! Tip - grab a spoon so you can try the flavors individually and then all together. They have other slice stacks and regular ice cream scoops and mini donuts along with shakes, sundaes, and ice cream cakes. Tuesdays they have a $4.99 rainbow cone special (usually $7.50 with tax). Lots of outdoor seating although the shop itself is pretty small. read more

Who doesn't love ice cream? Traditional ice cream scoops served in a cone or waffle cone. Ice cream shakes. Ice cream sandwiches. Everyone's favorite, right?? Well, this little ice cream shop in Cypress found a way to up the game....by a hekuva lot! Ice cream slices stacked 5 slices high on a waffle cone! Unique ice cream flavors like Palmer House, Superman, Big Muddy, and Birthday Cake! Imagine a birthday cake - with FIVE flavors of ice cream! We had the Original Rainbow Cone, the Apple Cider Sundae, the Mini donuts, and a slice of ice cream cake (with Dubai-like pistachio ice cream - delicious!). Service was excellent - friendly and quick! They let us try multiple flavors, since some of the flavors are unique to their shop. The owner, Anne, was there - super friendly and helpful! She spent time explaining the history behind The Original Rainbow Cone and Chicago-style ice cream! Located in a strip mall on Valley View, next to Kura Sushi. Plenty of parking. Fun place for kids and adults alike. We will definitely be back to try the other flavors! Like Chocolate Obsession, Orange Dream, and Minty City. This is our second time stopping by, the first time my finance and I both tried the Original Rainbow Cone, which gave us a good preview as to what they offered. We were trying to be adventurous with our choice in flavors and although it wasn't for us we did want to try other selections. My fiancé ordered the Chocolate Obsession sliced creations which we both enjoyed (he shared a bite) I ordered Minty City, which we both liked. These flavors were more up our alley. We usually get ice cream in a cup but something about this place, it hits the spot in a cone and licked. The scoops are not too big not too small. Which we quite liked. We also ordered a dozen of classic glazed mini donuts to take home to my brother. They were made fresh and were nice and warm when they arrived they also really liked them. What sold us was the friendly staff! (It being a new location good job on that, don't change) the decor and staff uniform were really cute as well! Look forward to stopping by to try additional flavors! read more
