Pros: The staff were very friendly and were helpful when we needed them. Location is also pretty good. It's about 5 minutes away from everywhere that we wanted to go and 10 minutes from Carmel. The beds were also very comfortable. Cons: The parking lot is.. Interesting. The parking spots are all in random spots and very hard to access. Better if you have a small car. The rooms were very dirty.. And falling apart. *see pictures* The price for the rooms was nearly $200 a night, so you would assume that your room would at least be clean. The only plug they had for the television, fridge, microwave, and coffee pot was hanging half way down from the dresser.. *see picture* and did not look very safe. I think they should figure out a better way to plug things in. The shower was less than desirable. First, the ceiling looks like it's caving in from being so old. *see pictures* The water pressure is awful (sinks and shower both) and the shower head is extremely hard to turn on. The water pressure is close to nothing, so I hope you aren't too dirty. The bathroom was by far the worst part of the room. I also hope that your neighbors are quiet because you can hear everything above and next to you. If you turn the AC on it will drown out the noise. Great place for a quick and affordable stay, especially if you have dogs. There is a little gated area potty area for dogs and a convenience store across the street. Clean modern rooms, comfortable bed, and basic amenities. Our room even had a mini fridge and microwave. 10-15 minutes from Carmel and downtown Monterey and 5 minutes from Monterey beaches. You're not seeing (or quickly walking to) the ocean here but you can't do that anywhere in the area at this price point. Tight parking. Check out is at 11:00 but house keeping will be knocking on your door at 9:00am. Use your privacy card! read more

Came to visit Carmel and Monterey for the weekend. Decently priced, but they have thin walls. Pros: - Rooms are updated and clean, beds were fairly comfy. - 10-15 minute drive to top Carmel or Monterey spots - It's on a pretty busy street so there are nearby convenient stores like 7-11 and CVS. - Great vanity mirror. Most hotels really lack good mirror lighting. - Pretty good cable channel selections Cons - Somewhat tight and limited parking - Thin walls, I could hear the TV on the other side of the room. Luckily we were at a corner, so the noise was coming only from one side, but I can see how it's a problem - The surrounding area can seem a little sketchy, but we didn't stay at the hotel much. We stayed here recently for multiple nights. It was also a holiday weekend, so rates were higher than usual--average about $100/night. Walking into our room, the place looked really nice--laminate floors, black white and gray color scheme, nice countertops in the bathroom. Then we noticed the bed was not, in fact, a queen and was a double. We've both been sleeping in a queen bed for a decade plus, so we were pretty sure. We went to the front desk to check that we had the right room and were told (fairly rudely, no eye contact, no customer service tactics) that we were wrong. So we measured the bed. We were not wrong. It went downhill from there. Someone above us spent the whole first 24 hours blasting hip hop music despite multiple knocks on the door in the middle of the night. The single Keurig pod in the room was never replaced. We ran out of soap in the tub dispenser and that was never replaced either. My boyfriend had either no water pressure or no hot water for any of his showers. The bathroom, which I think was newly tiled, left grout grit all over our feet and therefore in the bed. There were dogs barking upstairs constantly on our last day. Housekeeping got us out of bed twice and there was no Do Not Disturb tag. The refrigerator froze everything solid, even the giant water bottles. The bathroom fan worked sporadically. There was nowhere to hang the (single, very thin) towel near enough to the shower that we didn't have to get grout stuff all over our feet to get to it. I'm usually pretty forgiving of all of that stuff because I used to work in the hospitality industry and I know it's impossible to manage every detail of every room of every person's stay. But this was overkill, and the management did not seem to have any desire to meet us halfway. read more

The place is plain and boxy, but clean. However, the front desk staff was horrible. They demanded a deposit of $200 CASH because we live about 15 miles away. I asked why and she said it was a security deposit. I asked to speak to the manager, who later appeared, visibly reluctant to speak with me. I said that if we didn't trash the place when we stayed here last year, we were not likely to trash the place this year. (Hoping for a smile, which I didn't get.) Instead, the manager told me bluntly, "I don't believe in favoritism." To which I responded, "I'm not asking for favoritism, I'm asking for an exercise of discretion. There's no justification to ask for a deposit from a couple in their sixties attending a jazz festival. Plus, I don't carry cash." The manager responded by pointing to a sign on the wall that said something like "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." I was stunned. Here I was trying to check-in as a repeat customer and instead of being welcomed, I was being threatened. Finally, after some length, we were checked-in, but told that next time we would be required to pay the cash deposit. Needn't worry, I said. There won't be a next time. read more

I hate to give this place one star, because the interior of the hotel is actually very cute. There is a refrigerator, a microwave and a keurig. I wish we had known this, because we would have brought some snacks. The bed was okay, the plethora of lights were nice, and the feel was nice. The toilet and tub were separated from the sink by a door. This means that the door handle was probably full of germs. All of this aside, there is one astronomical problem: Paper Thin Walls. We didn't realize that some festival was in town, and that people were irresponsibly leaving their children in the hotel unsupervised. So maybe that's our bad; however, the stomping was unbearable. You can hear every step. We had children stomping until 4am 4am. When we told the front desk the next morning, they said "oh those people are checking out today. You shouldn't have a problem." Except we did. The running in the outdoor hallway shook our bed. The stomping at midnight commenced. This is the worst experience we've ever had. The only thing I would suggest if you have to stay here is to make sure that there are no events going nearby and that you try to get an upstairs room. Being on the first floor, we heard everything. I'm not sure if maybe the second floor would be better. read more

The outside isn't the best judgement I had on this place but once inside-the rooms are nice and cozy. Very clean, has a fridge and microwave, an openable window, a closet, coffee and a few seating areas. Wasn't too big but definitely comfortable. The person at check in was very nice and welcoming. Hotel is dog friendly which is excellent. Downfalls about my visit-parking spaces are much too close together, the AC in the room only works when the room reaches like 75 degrees then it turns on. We couldn't adjust it. Also, the 2nd floor isn't handicap accessible. Overall our stay was nice and would recommend and/or come back. read more

This hotel had dirty walls and a smoking smell that did not go away even after we brought Febreze which we bought from 7-Eleven. The hostess was not able to move us to another room and told us no one was available to clean the rooms until an hour. We drove two hours already and we wanted to rest and go out to eat dinner. The TV looked cheap with a line in the middle of the display. The shower has a weak pressure and you can hear all the plumbing pipes all night when someone flushed. There is not enough parking spaces and it seems shady people come here to party which we noticed walking from 7-Eleven. The smoke smell was the worse and it gave the fear the room was not properly cleaned with a risk of COVID. Definitely never staying here ever again! read more

I have stayed in Monterey many times before in hotels that lacked cleanliness and left me dissatisfied and disappointed. This hotel was different and allowed me to relax. As soon as we entered the room it had a clean smell to it. There was no mold, dirt or stains on the wall. Overall a super clean room. I always do a test when I stay in rooms and where my white socks to see how dirty my socks are at the end of the day. They were still clean at the end of my day. We will definitely stay here again our next Monterey trip. read more

I booked this hotel for July 4th-July 6th for an anniversary with my boyfriend. I will admit that I booked it kind of last-minute, but for over $400.00, I expected better. We're only on day two of our trip and the hotel was a disappointment pretty much as soon as we checked in at 11:00 PM last night. Our room key didn't work, which led to a 10, 15-minute debacle of employees trying to get the door open. As two men worked on the door, I checked out the room, which appeared clean and well-stocked at first, but found a Band-Aid clearly stuck to the back of a chair and long hair all over the floor, as if it had been brushed into every corner of the room instead of picked up. The shower curtain is also tattered. I woke up this morning and stripped to take a shower. My boyfriend stayed in bed, and mere moments later, an employee attempted to come in the room, but the dead bolt stopped them. They did not knock or announce themselves, nor did they apologize for intruding. If the dead bolt hadn't been in place, they could have walked in on a nude guest. I am trying to keep a positive mind for this last night, and I don't like having to tell people how their business let me down, but this place is definitely not top quality... Oh, and did I mention how they tried to charge me BEFORE we arrived, even though I opted on Hotels.com to pay at check-in? They called me five times, but left no voicemail; the only way I knew it was them was because my iPhone said that the phone number was from Monterey and my bank app kept sending me notifications that my card had been denied for the price of the reservation. read more

Booked a last minute room and was very satisfied. Karun was very helpful with booking and allowed for late checkout, which was much appreciated. Room was very clean and updated and spacious. Wood floors, fridge, microwave, television, etc. Walls were thin (could hear somebody snoring next door) but can't really control that. Would stay here again. Very solid place to stay. read more

This is a newly renovated motel and some of the rooms are still in the process of being refurbished. It is located on a busy road, and there is no good restaurant within walking distance. The walls are very thin, so I would suggest getting an upstairs end unit. The Indian guy at the front desk was not particularly helpful or welcoming, but another younger lady whose shift started a few minutes after our check-in was very accommodating and helpful in changing our room to a quieter one at the back of the motel. Overall, it's a no-frills place to stay, okay for a night or two, but for a longer stay, I would probably look elsewhere. The rooms were clean, and the bed was comfortable. There is a Keurig coffee brewer in the rooms which is a nice touch. read more

We visited Monterey and Carmel during our kids Spring break and had a ball! I booked the Pacific Inn (Monterey CA) because it was economical & close to all attractions. When we 1st saw the inn, we were taken aback: first glance it appeared small, it was in a construction zone and entrance /exits were sort of hard to navigate. However, upon check in, we decided to stay and give Pacific Inn a chance‍. The staff were very nice and helpful to me. Our room, beds, bathroom and floors were very clean! I loved the comfortable beds and pillows (slept like a log @ night after running around touring Monterey & Carmel). Kinda of suck there was no breakfast meal provided. At least there was good, fresh coffee! Overall, I give my stay @ Pacific Inn an 8 out of 10! I would come back to stay and recommend the inn to others. My brother and I stayed here during our night in Monterey. For the price that we paid, Pacific Inn offered great value. The rooms were spacious and clean, including the bathroom. We actually didn't take showers since we basically just crashed for the night and left pretty early. But we were impressed by the classy appearance of the bathroom and living space - microwave, mini-fridge, TV, and heater. We had no issues with the free WiFi and the TV even came with several HBO channels included. The only fly in the ointment was how thin the floors were. We could hear the guests above us when they walked as it was quite loud. I'm not sure if that was more them just walking up the stairs and hallway or if that included them while there were walking in their room, but after they either went inside their room or to bed, we were good the rest of the night. As long as you're not too sensitive to noise, this is a pretty nice place to stay. My recommendation if you want to avoid that issue is just to request a room on the top floor and hopefully you won't have to worry about anything else. read more

Our sink counter was ridiculously low and made us wonder if the room was a handicap accessible one (it wasn't.) It's a decent spot. Internet is free and pretty quick. Free breakfast....waffle station is pretty awesome. You get what you pay for is all I can say. The parking is kind of a pain. The spaces are pretty small and can be a pain to get out of. I would've given this place a 5 but we realized this morning why it smelled like cleaner. We began to smell throw up. Thank goodness it was when we're about to leave. The room it's self was nice otherwise. Everything was upgraded and new. There's a keurag machine as well as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and even makeup wipes. I would recommend staying especially for the price. It's a good place for staying if you're just stopping through like we were. It's also pet friendly. My family is here for just one night so we booked 3 rooms, I normally like to stay in higher end hotels but since we're paying for all 3 rooms, I had to look for a reasonably priced hotel. I chose Pacific Inn because it's newly renovated and upon arrival, it looks alright from the outside with the staircase to go to the 2nd floor which I normally stay away from but once we opened the door, I was blown away at how clean and beautiful the room looked. Pros: The room was a decent size, it was super clean, the bed was super comfy. Cons: the bathtub was old and had some rust in it, it's fine for a shower but not for a bath. The water pressure is horrible but you get clean....The parking is pretty cramped and hard to maneuver in. You can hear your neighbors walking around, closing doors etc. But we turned on the A/C unit and couldn't hear them anymore. Either Or: The pool is filled in and use for a dog walk area, which could be a plus if you have dogs. The free breakfast is cereal, muffins, waffles, hard boiled eggs, coffee and juice. BED BUGS!!!! I booked through Expedia and when I looked on line the reviews were great the room looked great.... UNTILL... I seen BED BUGS!!!! I pulled the mattress up and sure enough they were there, I was so disappointed and discusted that I told my husband that I wanted a full refund and we were leaving and going else where!! The staff at the front were very rude and not giving us the info we needed to give to Expedia so they could do the refund! I took video of the bugs and I will post it!! Upgraded from a 1960s motel. All is modern enough including spa in small tub but the fundamental building structure is dated. People arriving late cause noise going up stairs outside and the insulation between upstairs and downstairs is poor. Breakfast room is too small for number of guests although breakfast was pretty good eating while standing. Room heater is quieter than any I've used and room is comfortable enough. For only slightly more money we could have stayed at a more modern place. The surrounding area is old and seems to getting renovated with street work. Local restaurants within walking distance are very few and the Japanese restaurant is almost empty of people because it's mediocre at best. read more

We were very happy overall. The rooms are very clean and perfect for a quick couples getaway. The only problem I had was no elevator for handicapped access. It was difficult going upstairs as I am handicapped. However, the office staff switched us to a downstairs room the next day. I will stay here again, definitely. read more

We booked this as the first stop on our honeymoon and were very pleased with almost everything. Let's get the two minor hiccups out of the way first: 1. We got there a bit late in the day so they had just left our keys with a note at the back door. Luckily, we saw and found them (before anyone else did) but it would have been nice if they had called or emailed (they had my contact information) to let us know what they were doing. 2. The parking lot is ridiculous. First, your car scrapes against the ground driving in because of the huge dip. Then the spaces are so small and so close together (and in some cases surrounded by wooden poles) that it's very difficult to park. Now that that is out of the way, I would say that the rooms were nice. The hot towel rack was odd in that it didn't really get the towels all that warm and was really dangerous given how close it was to the sink. The breakfast we had each day was different and delicious with both a sweet and savory option. They also do a wine and cheese plate in the afternoon and cookies in the evening. You're a little far to walk down to the main parts of Monterey but only a short drive from everything. I would definitely stay here again. read more
