I would normally rate the Palm 4 stars. We get the waiter we love, a decent booth, good food (seafood and meat), and simple requests are met when I place my online reservations via Opentable. The last few times, the requests haven't been met, though placed well in advance. The most recent experience was the most disappointing when we dined for my father's birthday. Favorite waiter made a stop by to wish dad well but then handed off the work to a 'newbie' who kept calling my dad 'my friend'. My dad turned 69 and looking for some basic respect. The newbie showed up at his leisure and not providing the service and experience we have been used to for over 10 years. This isn't the only time most recently, but by far the most disappointing. Very disappointing! I had a lunch portion salad at dinner time with 4 shrimps and 3 scallops and it cost $39. I want to find out where the shrimp came from? Is there gold inside the shrimp??? I don't plan to go back here ever again - what a ripoff!! read more

It does not get much better with service and food then here. Always top notch and during the lunch hour, they offer a 3 course meal at a very reasonable price. This is a great place for a date, a business meeting, or post golf shenanigans! People are always professional and friendly and get you in and out in exactly the right amount of time you need. read more

Thank you for your response, and I appreciate that you took the trouble to reproduce the check of the adjacent table. However, you have missed the point I was trying to make. I was referring to the standard run down the waiter gave the adjacent table (including specials). What they ended up ordering has no bearing on my point. I have pasted below the starter choices for the lobster special (I assumed you knew what they were, which is why I didn't paste them in my earlier post). My point is that our table was not given the full list of starter choices. Instead we were given only 2 of the 6 choices, and offered some others at an extra charge. Perhaps the waiter wasn't exercising autonomy, but rather, had a memory lapse when he gave us the choices? Given this is a well rated/$$$ restaurant, both scenarios are unacceptable. The Palm is a kind of up-scale steakhouse with a very nice bar complete with cigars for sale. The service is usually good and the food is always tasty. The only exception I'd warn people about is the lobster. I've never been a big fan of their lobster or surf & turf. The lobster is usually not cooked right, IMO it's because their lobsters tend to be too large and they get overcooked on the outside while trying to cook the inside. read more

Went there for a late night HH. Their black and tans are pretty good however their appetizers left a lot to desire. I tried their versions of primerib (?) and lobster sliders and found both to have little to no flavor. The primerib slider was super rare which bothered me. The waiter never asked how we would like it cooked so I don't know if that's how it's supposed to be. It was chopped so the texture wasn't very pleasant. Although this is in the same office building as my company, I do find myself going here for lunch and dinner quite often when I am in DC. I enjoy this location over Atlanta. Food is consistently the same regardless, but location and atmosphere count for a lot. read more

Must say that I do like the rib-eyes here. They cook a legit medium rare so I've never had to be concerned with the way a steak is presented to me. The prices are a bit expensive but it's Tysons so that's to be expected. The staff really has it down and are on top of things as well. read more

Soooo, finally got a chance to go to the famous Palm that I keep hearing about. Good stuff overall. I kept hearing about the Steaks so i felt a little obligated to try one. Got the smaller new york strip that left me in a food coma to end all food comas. Glad the bill didn't fall on my lap that night. Ouch seemed on the pricey side to me but worth it. I really want to give this place 4-5 stars, because the food was excellent. The issue is, when you go to any restaurant, you're not simply going for the food. We arrived for lunch at 11:45 on 09.14.10 after one of our party had already been seated. The host was on the phone, and we waited for him to finish. Usually when you see customers walk up, you ask the person to hold, and then at least say hello and you'll be right with you. He didn't even acknowledge us, in fact we were ignored. So, I whipped out my phone and caught up on some emails. Finally he got off the phone, and appeared to be bothered that we were there. You know, two customers being all bothersome and all...just standing there. We were seated at the table, and the server greeted us promptly. Now, the food was great. Everything was cooked perfectly. But, the server was mute. He didn't speak. Like, I asked him for a steak knife (there was one hidden under a napkin that had been moved on the table), and he found it and just kind of slid it toward me. We all just looked at each other like, wow, that was rude. He didn't speak to us at all the entire time, other than to take our orders. It was almost bizarre. One of the people in the party actually came out and said that he must not like us. Heh. I'd go back, but simply lower our expectations. read more

I really enjoyed lunch today. The crabmeat appetizer was delicious and the filet very good. Potatoes were tasty. A wonderful lunch.

The large Filet was worth every penny and could easily feed two people. The goat cheese mashed potatoes were great, the asparagus and mushrooms were average. The creme brûlée was great. The service was good, but not as good as Capital Grille. If I had to choose between Palm and Capital Grille I would choose Capital Grille every time. We visited this restaurant for dinner. When you enter the restaurant, it was very dark and felt congested. The tables were very close to each other and noise level was very high. The place was also packed so we couldn't really hear each other very well. However, the food is good quality but price is slightly on higher side. read more

Just returned from the Palm this week. Service was so-so. Ribeye steak was cooked medium-rare as ordered, but I was not crazy about the vein and gristle in this steak. In addition, I asked for the steak "Oscar" which is Jumbo Lump Crab, hollandaise sauce, and asparagus. The crab was cold, the sauce was cold, and the taste of the sauce was not that great. I would have sent this back if I didn't have a large table of people eating with me. We had two (2) tuna appetizers and the bacon scallops. The first tuna that came out was NOT sushi quality. The second one not only was better quality but tasted better. The waiter argued with us that "perhaps they put more oil on the second one". The side Cesar salad was horrible. I can find a better salad in a bag in the grocery store. Lettuce was not deep green rather pale and the dressing was a failure. My local pub has an awesome salad for half the price. Our side dishes did not come out as ordered - we had to remind the waiter to bring them out. I've been to this restaurant a total of five (5) times. This time, for the price, I was not impressed at all. I will very likely be trying another steakhouse next time I visit this area. Most of the food was delicious--shrimp, scallops, calamari, pasta with clams, sea bass, and veal chop. Chicken parm was burnt; Manager came around to ask how everything was. I mentioned the chicken parm being burned; showed it to him. He offered to make another one for us, but we had already finished dinner. I guess he could have removed it from the bill or sent over dessert--IDK. , Anna, could have been better. She frequently checked in with us and delivered food in a timely manner; however, did not know how to add my points to my club card. She said she would try, then never mentioned it again. When I asked her to wrap the remainder of our food up to take home, she said "I guess so." Really? I guess so? Also, bathroom was not clean! Not sure if I will visit this location again. read more

Not real happy with our waiter Alex. I am sure he was trained this way but thought he pulled a fast one. We ordered a glass of wine at lunch. He brought the 9oz with out asking us if we wanted a 6 or 9 oz. Then it looks as if he choose the most expensive one in the bar - not asking our preference? $23.75 for a glass of Cabernet? Educated Guess, which sells for $16.50 a bottle at Total Wine. And $18.00 for a glass of Reisling? The wine was more expensive than our lunch. The valet parking had about 12 cars waiting so we parked in the garage. Only to be told they do not validate parking. They might need a refresher in customer service. read more

My friends and I came out here after work because it is part of restaurant week. Overall it was a good dining experience, but I don't know if I would come back for the regular menu. I ordered the lobster bisque, which was good but it had barely any lobster chunks in it. The crab cakes were awesome and had actual crab meat not just filler. I had the creamed spinach side and was surprised by the portion size. The molten chocolate cake was delicious, but I wish that there were two scoops of ice cream with it. A side note - The wood floor is a bit slippery. We watched an elderly woman fall right in front of us as she was turning. We think she wasn't paying attention because her head seemed to be turned to a couple in front of her instead of where she was going. read more

My rating is closer to 4.5 based on the overall experience. Went there with my boyfriend and his parents. I had the scallops wrapped in bacon as a starter...WOW it was fantastic! I shared a 14 oz fillet mignon...was able to have it cut in half and cooked the way we like. The whipped goat cheese potatoes were delicious, so much so, my non-goat cheese eating boyfrend loved them too! The service was great and took special requests with a smile. I came here for an interview lunch. It was a 3 course meal with different sides provided. The beef and barley soup had really tender beef but overall it wasn't anything special. The salmon was probably the best that I've ever had though. The fish was super tender and had a really good mango salsa accompanying it. The sides we're bit odd though. It was definitely a surprise getting spaghetti as a side for the table. The broccoli was pretty good as a side. The chocolate cake for dessert was really good. Especially the whip cream on the side and the raspberry sauce drizzled over it. Would come back for a special occasion but not for an average meal as it would be very costly. read more

I have never reviewed a restaurant before online since most have some redeeming qualities but The Palm does not in my view. We arrived at 7 PM on Weds July 27 to celebrate our 43rd anniversary to a less than half filled room. Our hostess bragged about our table being her favorite--sure next to the pillar and in direct line from the kitchen to the booths--right. The noise level steadily increased as people arrived to the point the waiter and bus staff could not hear us nor we them. In fairness, my drink was okay as was our salad. My husband's crab cakes were to his liking. I ordered the lamb chops medium rare and they arrived raw and with no seasoning. Not wanting to stay to have them recooked due to the extreme noise, I ate around the edges and had them boxed to go. We couldn't wait to leave. If you have any interest in a romantic dinner, this is NOT the place. The hostess asked how we enjoyed ourselves on our way out and I couldn't look at her since I felt the dinner was ruined by the noise and my food. I don't go to nice restaurants offten and when I do I feel like the service is always lacking. I had a big gift card to the Palm so my husband and I decided to go for date night. I was nervous every about it because of some of the reviews. I had never done valet parking but it was convenient and went smoothly. The host was so welcoming and friendly. Our server (I wish I remembered her name) was absolutely fantastic. Usually at nicer places, especially being young and not ordering a lot, our servers don't try too hard. This server was attentive, kind, and professional. The prices were high but I had a gift card so it didn't bother me. My calamari was pretty good (a tad bland). The lobster bisque was fantastic. Crab cakes were great. And the Gigi salad was also delicious. My husband and I had no complaints about our experience! I wish I could go back! read more

The Palm is an establishment in Tysons. Between the steaks and the sides I love eating here. My family enjoys the crab cake, lobster specials (seasonal), and new york strip steaks. For sides we like the steamed spinach and hush puppies. The ambiance is great with custom wallpaper depicting area power brokers who have eaten at the restaurant. The service is good and it's an experience to eat at The Palm. Highly recommended. read more

As long time customers of The Palm, I hate to have to write a bad review. I had received several emails advertising a new October Sunday Dinner special; the veal chop parmigiana sounded amazing and what my husband and I thought would be a nice way to celebrate a special occasion. I ordered takeout on the first Sunday it was offered. First disappointment, I couldn't order online since it wasn't listed as an option. The only good part of the experience was the person who took the call. She was excellent and knew the dinner included a Caesar salad and garlic bread. When my husband went there to pick up, he checked the order before leaving. Clearly, the waiter (who fulfills the order) had no idea there was a special Sunday dinner for October. My husband waited over 20 minutes for the missing Caesar salad and garlic bread. The latter was stingy 1/4" slices of baguette spread with garlic butter! No faster alternative was offered. Regardless, it doesn't take 20+ minutes to make what we got. Needless to say, the restaurant was not busy and by the time we got it home, the veal chop was cold. At $79.99, this was particularly disappointing nor celebratory. read more

Today was my first visit to The Palm. I had a business lunch and was quite disappointed. I ordered the cup of lobster bisque and 1/2 lobster BLT. The bisque was probably the worst I have ever had. Not that it tasted awful, just that I have always had better plus there was no lobster in it. As for the lobster BLT, it was okay. I couldn't pick it up so that probably didn't give me the full favor of everything in it. What I did have was okay but I wished I had ordered the burger instead. I usually come to this location rather than DC since it's a little less crowded and it's the same amount of travel time from Maryland. This place is amazing if you're a steak and lobster fan. I always start off with a half and half (palm cottage fries and onion straws). They are so addictive. The service is always great and they aim to please. The desserts are delicious as well. Just celebrated my sons 21st Birthday here. We were very disappointed with the food. Let me start off with the excellent service we got from our waiter. Besides the reasonably good appetizers and bread the main meal was a comedy of errors. We ordered 5 steaks cooked medium priced between $59-$65 apiece . When we got them they all looked great on the outside. As soon as we all started cutting we were surprised that they were raw inside. After trying to fix the same pieces of meat twice the last looked liked a dry piece of leather. The kitchen simply cooked the same meat over and over. Of course any paying customer would refuse it. Or may be not. I think to many people are afraid to say something at these high end restaurants not to offend the other folks at the table. The manager was very sorry and picked up the tab. I've had a meal or two at the DC location and was pleased. Don't go to this location! read more
