A DC staple but I only recently visted for the first time to celebrate a friend's milestone birthday. Our server, Sean was great. He was very attentive, friendly, and patient. He really made my friend's celebration enjoyable! The place is pretty dimly lit. Perfect for a romantic night! Don't come here too causal. Not sure if a dress code is enforced but don't risk it! I enjoyed the "Blooms & Bubbles" cocktail and a glass of Malbec. For my meal, I had the chicken parm. It was a tad bit too salty for me. I wouldn't get it again. I would try something else next time! The prices are high here. Definitely not a cheap date but worth it for the ambiance!

A D.C. classic and a great experience! Street / nearby garage parking only and no validation. Large indoor dining room, standing bar area, and covered/enclosed patio. Dim lighting, cozy and romantic ambience. Fun caricatures of famous guests painted all over the walls. Wonderful service - constant water refills! The complimentary bread is delicious. The calamari is SUPERB! The ribeye with cowboy butter was cooked perfectly. Broccolini was delicious (a bit oily, but that's prob why it tasted so good!). Pappardelle bolognese honestly could've used a bit more meat. I was digging around all the noodles looking for more meat that really wasn't there... and for $35 I wish it was! Very tasty though - more like a rose sauce than straight marinara. They brought us free creme brulee for our birthday. Beware - they sing! Overall a great steakhouse experience. Come hungry and you'll leave with leftovers too! I hope to be back

We went for Valentines. The front door staff is not so friendly, but the coat check lady was delightful. The dining room was darker than I remember. Overall, a five star though. The weight staff is excellent. The warm basket of delicious bread and soft butter in a ramekin was greatly appreciated. There was a raisin, and garlic, herb, and crispy roll type bread in the basket. Yummy! The wedge salad was large enough to share. It includes walnuts, not a typical addition to this type salad. This was very good and they were kind enough to split it for us. My friend ordered the 14 ounce NY strip steak. He said it had great taste, was well prepared, but was a bit tough. I had a 3 pound lobster. I asked them to crack it for me. The claws were exceptional. The tails were a little tough. The butter, and I squeezed some lemon juice in it, was very good. I wonder if it's all butter or something else is in there. Their lobsters really are good and I believe they are known for their lobsters. Sadly, they aren't from Maine anymore. Back in the day I believe they were. We ordered the potatoes au gratin. They were a little disappointing. They weren't sliced as normal. They were round potatoes, not my favorite. When I order au gratin I want more of the cheese than potato. We ordered the enormous carrot cake. The cake was good, not great, but the cream cheese frosting was excellent. Plenty to share and bring home later. Sadly, the picture of my lobster was blurry. It was beautifully presented, sliced in half and claws on top. We both had the Always in Fashion old fashioned cocktail. Excellent!!! The best of all the restaurants in town, hands down. I'll definitely be going back for one of those. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you go for dinner or a drink at the bar where you can also order food. By the way, there is complimentary valet parking after 6:30 PM.

Solid, age old spot. We had dinner at almost 8pm and the crowd was clearing out. The dining room got quieter as people were finishing their dinners. The tables were a bit close to each other but it was fine. Our server wasn't too on top of his game but he looked very tired. He was forgetting drinks, never came back with cheese for the top of my pasta, didn't know how to answer my partner's question about what type of beer, etc. My spouse questioned whether his steak was actually A5 -- it was on the cheaper end, and when it came out he definitely said it probably wasn't to that quality. He eats a lot of steak. I really enjoyed my meal though. I got chicken Parm and the chicken was nicely breaded and smothered in cheese. The sauce was chunky tomato which I like. My only complaint was that it didn't come with a lot of pasta, which is surprising... Usually carbs are easy and cheap. And you can't even see it here, cuz there just wasn't that much of it. The cheesecake is Junior's from New York. It was a bit more crumbly than I like, and I wasn't a huge fan of the bourbon caramel sauce. There's also barely any crust, which is one of my favorite parts of cheesecake. I did like the clotted cream and mint on the side, it gave the cheesecake more character. The servers came over to sing happy birthday to our friend... They'd been doing it all night. We heard several tables being serenaded, including the one right next to us, right before us! Overall, not bad, I really did enjoy the chicken parm. I had never been to this location and I enjoy looking at people's faces drawn on the wall.

The first time I came here, I was not overly impressed for the price we paid. I didn't leave a review yet because I wasn't sure I came back and have to say we genuinely had a delicious meal. I'm still skeptical about the prices we paid for everything and think they're quite a bit above the market price even in this area. Solid dinner and would come back

Had an amazing pickup experience and the food was top notch - Shrimp scampi starter, wedge salad, 18 oz ribeye, creamed spinach and truffle risotto-- all superb!

    Porter house steak

My old ass boomer in-laws made a reservation here and it was perfect for them. If you're looking for you're typical white table cloth steak house with some seafood options. The palm is for you. I shared the porter house steak with my husband. Definitely left with two days of left overs. We asked for medium and it was VERY red, so after a couple of bites, we asked our awesome server (I wish I remembered his name) to take it back and cook a little more. They gave us an extra complimentary drink which was very kind of them. For four of us and a let's say two drinks each, we did ended up paying $450+ so it's definitely not an expensive place. I did consider to pay into their loyalty program so I could get my face on the wall. Please ask them how you can do that lolololol. Great place, I'd definitely come if I'm looking for a good piece of meat. Paloma was mid.

Restaurant week took me to the Palm in Dupont Circle. It was right down from the metro station, I think it was the Connecticut Ave exit (??). I know where I'm going in Dupont circle so the signs don't mean a lot. I expected more of a crowd on a Monday, during restaurant week at 5 pm. I joined the folks at the bar. I had an idea of what I wanted at a steakhouse. The barmaid gives me a menu and I order a glass of house red. I order the house salad immediately, no tomato. Italian dressing came on the salad. I decide on the 6oz center cut fillet with mashed potatoes on the side. Tiramisu for dessert. The salad comes fast and it's pretty fresh and good. I have never been to the palm so I decide on a few wall pictures. The walls are covered with famous people, athletes. politicians (mostly politicians), other people of note. It's incredible. I'm finishing the salad and the meat and potatoes arrive, the main event. I have been looking forward to this all day. It's cooked medium as I ordered it. Potatoes are very tasty. Generous side size. The meat is ok, I guess I expected better. The lady behind the bar made the evening. Conversation with her and other folks at the bar. People are starting to come in. I meant to bring a tie but left it at home...most men are wearing suit and tie, ladies are in dresses or skirt and blouse. The wine is gone, meat and potatoes all consumed. I take the tiramisu to go. I pay the check and I'm out the door. If you have never been I have to say it's worth the visit for the atmosphere, the walls and good service at the bar.

Ordered two espresso martinis and they each had a lemon peel garnish- is this normal for The Palm? The service was super slow and dinner was just ok, I feel there are better steakhouses in the area.

Eating steak with DC's elite../ Parking: located in downtown DC, parking is slim pickings. Street parking is all around but you may have to search Drinks: great house wine selection and full bar. Also a great selection of soft drink Food: they have a great selection of meats, including A5! We ordered A5 and NY strip. We told the waiter we wanted to split it between the two of us. The waiter offered to plate them individually half and half - so nice and convenient! The NY Strip was perfection and the A5 was the most tender steak I've ever had! Service: service was just okay. Our waiter didn't seem incredibly enthusiastic or pleasant. When he brought the food over he didn't even clear the table, he simply pushed items out is the way with the plate he was placing down. Not very classy. (Watch video) Atmosphere/vibe: we went for lunch on a Friday. It was pretty empty. They have cool pictures on the wall of Washington elites so it was nice to have lunch with Wolf Blitzer LOL. There is no outdoor dining so prepared to be inside a dim lit restaurant. Bathroom: it was clean and worked well Return: absolutely!

We had an incredible experience from start to finish. The service was absolutely amazing, so attentive our glasses were never empty. The steak truly melted in your mouth, cooked to perfection, and the calamari was perfectly crisp and full of flavor. The atmosphere made the whole evening feel special and elevated. And the carrot cake...hands down the best I've ever had. This place exceeded our expectations in every way, can't wait to come back!

It's a lovely thing to wander through before heading in to eat just a few feet away. The setting itself doesn't feel like Washington at all. With the charming little patio and relaxed vibe, you could imagine you're in another country, and it strikes a wonderful balance between easygoing and sophisticated. Little touches go a long way for me, and they nailed them here: silverware with the lovely illusion of polished silver and elevated stemware that added an extra bit of vibe to the whole experience. The staff were wonderfully accommodating from the start: everything was still soaked from the heavy rain the night before, but they went out of their way to set us up in a lovely shaded spot so we'd stay cool and comfortable. That same care showed up in a much bigger way later, when one of our party passed out from a health issue unrelated to the meal, and the team handled it with calm, attentiveness, and real heart. Now, the food. The brunch menu hits all the classics, chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict with fun variations featuring crab and smoked fish, all the good stuff. I settled on the lobster roll, which was incredibly good, served with Old Bay fries that came out perfectly hot and crisp, exactly the way fries should always arrive, with ketchup on the side. We also tried the tuna tartare and the buffalo oysters, which were a blast: fried oysters with a blue cheese dressing and hot sauce, served in the cutest presentation in shells on smooth lake pebbles. On the drinks side, I had a "Bloody Margaret," a gin-based riff on a Bloody Mary, and it was wonderfully spicy, just the way I like it. The cocktail list overall is playful and worth exploring. Oysters are clearly one of their fortes. They focus on Virginia oysters, so it's a single variety, but they do a lot with it across a range of preparations. There's also a fun Virginia peanut-centric theme running through the menu.

The Parker House Rolls were fluffy, but nothing I would put on the highly recommended list. Our waiter was very kind and personable. Other than that, I'm not sure if I would come back. Most people enjoy Caribbean style restaurants that master various fish for a fraction of the price and more food. While the "more food part" may be considered low- brow, I'm sure I am saying what many are thinking.

The branzino was one of the best I have ever tried, cooked with a crust on the outside that felt like a flavor party on the first bite. The service and atmosphere left us ready for the next phase. A short walk to bread pudding and ice cream at a nearby spot. Union Market is a vibe and a community experience and Cordelia is right in the heart of the action. A table worth coming back to again and again.

As a big fan of the Clyde's Restaurant Group, I had high expectations, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite deliver for me this time. That said, the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was excellent. The restaurant has a warm, inviting vibe that works well for date night, dinner with friends, or even a business meal. Our group sampled a variety of dishes across the menu, including grilled calamari, grilled oysters, cheeseburgers, grilled double pork chops, and squid ink pasta. While the food wasn't a standout for me personally, the overall dining experience was enjoyable thanks to the attentive service and beautiful setting. I'd still encourage others to give it a try and form their own opinion, the experience itself was definitely worth it. #HappyEating

Fish Sandwich was really tiny but with Fries or Greens It was really good. Decided to order the Waterman's Catch(table behind me had ordered it OMG) Best thing about it, the Cole Slaw. It has a vinegar base. So good. Everything was fried hard hard hard batter peeled off( order not so hard) Comes with Fish(only had small piece fried so dark dark brown) 4 Scallops but there were 3 tiny pieces of deep fried crusty something that we thought tasted like Calamari. Subbed out Oysters for extra Shrimp. A lot of Shrimp, batter peeled right off so that was good for dipping in the Cocktail Sauce. Fries were ok. Order with Fish Sandwich we're so much better. Great price for $$. Good Music. Great view. Lots of laughs throughout bar. Would be good bar for Drinks and try the Baked Pimento Crab Tip...next time.

I was there during brunch service and found a menu that covered a lot of bases. My main interest was seeing if they still offered fried clam bellies, a rarity in the D.C. restaurant scene. Nope, no bellies, but on offer under the brunch appetizers were Stuffies (three baked top neck clams, smoked linguica, lemon, breadcrumbs, house hot sauce, $13), along with more traditional starters, including clam chowder ($7 cup, $12 bowl), fried calamari (roasted garlic pomodoro sauce, fried cherry peppers & artichoke, lemon, $15). I ended up ordering the North Shore Roast Beef sandwich (horseradish cream, BBQ sauce, American cheese, onion roll, with fries, $19). More than enough for brunch and lunch the following day. Service was good, and the meal was excellent. Note the Salt Line's transparency, where it explains that "DC restaurants have been operating with dynamic and significant increases in labor wages, food costs, and the general cost of doing business in DC. We have chosen to implement a 4% operational surcharge - which does not go towards gratuity - as the most comprehensive way to address this." Seems to me to strike a decent balance, but I'm not all that up to date about the living wage issue in the services industry. In any event I respect The Salt Line's management for being up front about their surcharge policy.
