They make their customers feel genuinely welcomed, comfortable, and appreciated. That welcoming atmosphere seems to bring people together. Customers are more relaxed, friendly, and open to chatting with one another, which creates a sense of community that you don't find everywhere. There's something really special about that--and it's exactly why I keep coming back and bringing my friends with me. I can't believe it took me so many years to come here! I thought it was a tavern like a bar. That's why I never ventured in. But recently I came with two of my girlfriends and was blown away by how wholesome the menu is! Plus on the menu it says they only use butter, olive oil and beef tallow! No seed oils! Came for restaurant week to try some new dishes! Started with the Cesar salad which was ample. Complimentary bread was sourdough and baked perfectly with a crispy exterior. Shrimp scampi campellini was full of butter wine sauce perfect for dipping the bread! Chicken scallopini with brown butter rigatoni and spinach was tasty, the chicken was so moist and tender. Also got the loukaniki ( sausage and pita with tzatziki) was superb. Flavorful sausage without being too greasy and the arugula adds some freshness. Favorite is the chocolate temptation cake only available during restaurant week. Pistachio ricotta cake was light and perfect end to the meal. Excellent service and impeccable meal from start to finish. Corner booth felt cozy and well lit. The owner Christos gave me his business card a few years ago and I'm so glad I came to try. With the exception of a few happy hours / birthdays, this restaurant has a nice ambience that isn't too loud. It's nice being able to hear each other talk. Update time....So great place, great drinks, great food. Everything is still relevant from my first review. Bouncing to 5 stars. Not sure why I gave them 4 before. The music selection has improved greatly. Still have a few solid Buddy Holly, Stones, Beatles and Dylan etc. tunes here and there, but everything here was pretty much from the 50's, 60's, and maybe the 70's. The newly added more recent tunes are a huge plus. Another huge plus: No seed oils used. This needs to be mentioned again.....No seed oils. For all'z you doubters, investigate how seed oils are killing you. Another plus is back in the day during 'the vid' years they really didn't go along with Greasy's nonsense. An overdue review. We have been going to Park St. Tavern for years. This spot is a staple among downtown Alameda local businesses. Family-owned by brothers Alex and Christos, Park St. Tavern is a warm and inviting neighborhood spot where you will find great food and drinks, and excellent service that makes you feel at home. The menu is Greek/Mediterranean. We often get the mediterranean dip trio and the spanakopita. From the mains, I really like the angel hair pasta with shrimp. The lemony sauce it comes in is amazing. They are also a seed-oil free kitchen! Major applause for that. Seed oils are poison y'all, and unfortunately still widely used in restaurant kitchens. They have a solid happy hour menu with a good selection of discounted eats and drinks. The bar was recently redone, and is now a beautiful, bright marble bar top. During the remodel, the downstairs space was closed, and the upstairs open. The upstairs area would be great to rent out for a private party. And now, the best for last. The folks who work here are wonderful, and will make you feel comfortable and welcome. Huge shout out to Alex, Ben, Ana, Sawyer, and all the other folks who are the backbone of this place. I enjoyed my meal and appreciate the consistency of this restaurant with quality of food. The noise level was difficult to make my meal as enjoyable as it could have been. While the restaurant wasn't too busy, they still sat people in very close clusters which made it hard to have conversation. Plus the servers cell phone rang while we were ordering and while he ignored it, it would have been better for him to answer as it was so loud. read more

The restaurant is a casual upscale bar with the restaurant down a couple of stairs next to it. The service is a bit slow but it was worth it! We ordered an appetizer of Calamari which was not that good! Then we ordered the Shrimp Scampi and the Lamb Chops. We shared both entries and they were heavenly! The fresh baked bread was served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, which was on the table. The bread was delicious and complimentary. It was my birthday so we received a complimentary coffee flavored Crème Brûlée which was outstanding! We came for their pre fixe menu for restaurant week. Great welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff-our waitress, Ana and our server, Blake were great! We ordered the beet salad and Caesar salad, the beef braciole (with tomato orzo) and sea scallops (with pesto risotto), as well as the chocolate temptation cake and pistachio ricotta cake. We love going to Park Street Tavern, especially for an earlier dinner. I have to start with the bar, it's absolutely beautiful bright marble bar. It honestly looks like a Himalayan salt bar (in the best way), and it really sets the tone for the whole space. The entire menu is solid and the drinks are amazing. My go-to is either the salmon or the lamb chops, both are consistently delicious. We also like to share a few appetizers, especially the beet and strawberry salad and the grilled shrimp. Everything always feels thoughtfully prepared and flavorful. I also often ask for modifications to my meal, and the wait staff never has an issue accommodating them, which I really appreciate. It makes dining there feel easy and welcoming. It's definitely one of our regular spots for a great meal and great atmosphere. read more

It was my first time dining here and what I immediately loved about the place is the ambiance- cozy and intimidate yet also open and friendly, so you can have conversations and not worry about being hushed. 5/5 for environment and vibe. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was especially lovely. Although the place wasn't full of patrons, the staff all seemed quite busy and there were several times where we were just sitting at the table and waiting for somewhat extended periods of time. We almost asked for the check after the entree out of concern we'd be out too late. 3.5/5 for service. In terms of the food, my fam gave a 3.5/5 star rating on average. The pastas got a thumbs up (both got positive reviews for flavor and texture), the garlic bread a thumbs down (I didn't have any but was told it "wasn't flavorful enough"), and the pork chop a thumbs middle as it was on the dry side (for a thick cut lean meat, a thicker and tangy/rich/umami sauce might've paired better than the thin jus, which seemed to get lost on the plate and was just kind of salty). The cocktails were decent- more sweet than boozy, and more one-note than complex in flavor (but that may be due to my choice of drinks). And the chocolate cake was extremely rich in chocolate flavor and almost fudge-like in texture; it just needed a bit more time at room temp to make it easier to cut/bite. I think the next time I come, it'll be for the steak or veal, which seems to be their protein specialty. Overall, it's a 3.5/5 but I'll try again to see how things go! read more

Came here on a weekend to celebrate a birthday and the servers were attentive and the food was served promptly. My partner ordered the gnocchi with squash and mushroom and I ordered the lamb.The portion for the pasta was generous. This has become one of our date night restaurants because the drinks are well made, the bartenders are friendly, and the food is delicious. I loved my Pear Martini, Spanakopita appetizer (enough for 2 people), the Spaghetti Bolognese (also a large portion size), and a boozy root beer float. The restaurant features Greek food but also has decent Italian. It was a lot of food and we have leftovers, but the bolognese sauce was favorable and I look forward to enjoying it a second time. I came here for a special occasion on a rainy Sunday night. Overall, the city of Alameda was very sleepy and most people were staying home in order to stay dry. It was my husband's 35th birthday and he really wanted a yummy steak dinner, but did not want to venture too far. I had this place bookmarked after watching the local PBS show Check Please, Bay Area! We started our meal with two house margaritas which the bartender is very generous with their pour. My husband chose the fried calamari, beet salad, crabcake appetizers to start. The fried calamari I feel could use a little bit of a harder fry as it was more chewy than crunchy. The crabcakes were very flavorful, and after trying them from their namesake of Baltimore, there is no replica. The beet salad was a complete curveball. There were thick cuts of beets on a bed of feta cheese with arugula salad raspberry or strawberry dressing and some other veggies. I'm not the biggest beat lover, and this salad has me wanting to come back! There's something about the feta cheese and the beets that really combine perfectly. For our main dishes, my husband opted for the ribeye steak, cooked rare, yes, that's right, rare. It's not for everyone but for a good steak it is one of the best ways to eat it. It was fire grilled had the perfect sear on the outside and the perfect amount of rare without being raw. I opted for the lamb chops, which was on this delicious mint yogurt sauce with an array of roasted vegetables, such as tomatoes, potatoes, and cauliflower, along with an arugula salad mix. This was my first time trying lamb chops and I have been wanting more ever since. We were initially drawn to this place because they do not use any seed oils in any of their cooking. We placed an order online on a Sunday. When we got into the restaurant to pick up our order, they could not find it. The waiter said he'd go check in the back for me to see what was up. While I was waiting, two other waiters checked in to see how I was doing and if I needed any help. Went here for a friends bday back in September. There was a total of 13 of us. I'm not sure if they were having a bad day or what but for amount you pay for, you would expect a little more of a higher quality. Food was not good and customer service was subpar for a semi-high end restaurant in Alameda. Alcohol Drinks took forever to come out too. I ordered coke 2x and the waitress forgot. What was ordered: Calamari- 5/5 it was the only best thing I've had on the menu. Mediterranean dip trio - 3/5 it wasn't nor was delicious ( a lot of left over) Beef short ribs - $40 for super dry meat. The sauce it came with was watered down. 14oz ribeye - $50 meat was dry as well with no flavor. At the end, kind of felt rushed as they were handing out boxes without asking for it. I don't even remember the waitress asking for dessert. Once we were all leaving, I had to hunt someone down by walking to the kitchen and asked for a bag for all the to go boxes! Visiting from out of town and staying close to the neighborhood- The Park Street Tavern was an amazing find! We called ahead to see if reservations were needed and the person on the phone was kind, friendly, and gave us a table for two within the hour. When we arrived we knew we had found a gem, the bar area was filled with smiling and laughing patrons, cheering with full cocktails and raving about the food they had just had. We were met with a smiling face at the door and taken to our table immediately. The ambiance is wonderful- definitely an old school vibe, with eclectic art/decor on the walls that made it feel like a cozy spot I'd been to times before. Our server arrived to the table and all I have to say is WOW ANTONIO! He was WONDERFUL. Smiling, chatting, menu recommendations, drink recommendations, he was exactly the face we wanted to see at our table. We started with the beet salad and the wedge- both absolutely delicious, tried and true starters full of flavor and just enough difference to make it their own. Our entrees were the salmon w/risotto and the chicken piccata. Again, menu staples but cooked well, full of flavor, and absolutely satisfying. We finished off dinner with the lemon torte. This was spectacular! Not too sweet, not too sour- the perfect blend of citrus, almond, and berry. When it came to the drinks- they were above and beyond! The Sazerac was exceptional, definitely warned you up on the cold evening, and the non-alcoholic Cherry Lime Royale hit all the notes of a well made cocktail- sweet, tart, refreshing, and the rosemary added an extra I was not expecting- but delightfully delicious. Never judge a book by its cover! The building is very unassuming and at first didn't even find the door. Might be, because they are renovating part of the place right now. I actually wanted to get a reservation at Town Tavern (which is also on Park Street) but mixed those two places up, haha. Couldn't be happier about this "mishap". So, we came here for a date night and this place is soooooo nice and cozy. Great food and service. We had steak and an appetizer plate as well as a lovely, quite boozy cocktail (Tavern Margarita). All top notch. The lady who was our server was very attentive and checked back with us regularly throughout the dinner. Right now, this end of Park has a lot of construction going on, so parking is a nightmare. But if you're willing and able to walk a few blocks, you're good. In any case, it's worth it! read more
