We drove over to Hull last Friday to dine at a different restaurant but unfortunately they were closed. We'd been to the Red Parrot in the past and it was average but we read where it had new ownership and had received good reviews in the Globe so we tried it again. We had just been seated when the waitress came to the table and asked, 'Do you know what you'd like?' We explained that wed like to see a menu first and then ordered drinks. We had fish and chips, which the menu said were made from locally-caught fish. They were oil-soaked and flavorless. The drinks were fine but when I reviewed the bill I saw they added a $3 preparation fee for my Manhattan. When I what this was for the waitress gave some insane response about how it takes more time to the drink. We'll never go there again. read more

I'm giving 1 star because I could not post this review without clicking at least one star. We had a terrible experience tonight. One in our party has a serious shellfish allergy. She told the waiter, who did not seem to be paying attention. She ordered a burger, no French fries as she was told the fryolater is used for shellfish. Concerned that the waiter did not note the allergy, I spoke to a manager, Molly, who assured me she would take care of it. When our meals were delivered, there were French fries with the burger, AND the Portuguese stew I ordered was spilled all over my shirt. A different manager came over to take the burger & fries back. 10 minutes later a new burger was delivered. Neither manager came to our table to check on the food or apologize for the mistake made with the burger or spill. We sought out the manager after the meal and all he said was 'I'm sorry.' We live in Hull and have always enjoyed the food here, but will NEVER return. read more

Service was good but... don't order the steak. We had to send it back twice, ordered medium rare, received medium well. Second steak was served to us completely raw, pretty much tartare and would have definitely given us food poisoning. Third steak was just the second steak charred more. Completely cooked unevenly but we didn't want to complain again. Wouldn't come again unless I was just getting fries and drinks. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. The service was absolutely horrendous- it took my group 45 mins just to get our waters. Our apps (wings and rangoons) were tasteless and room temperature. My pina colada was filled w a chunky fake coconut residue and tasted awful. I was planning on sending my drink back, but the server didn't reappear until much later, so I left it to melt into a sludge. As soon as I got my meal (fish tacos) I discovered these were inedible and had to send these back. The fish was gray and tasted rank. The rice and beans tasted like nothing and were completely dry. Truly a terrible experience. Try Red Sky down the street for delicious bites or California underground for good tacos. Seriously go anywhere else. read more

Well where can I start, I went to the parrot with my family, and my server was amazing, kind and sweet. Although it took almost forever to get our food and when we finally got it, the Grits that we got were extremely undercooked and the fried haddock was also extremely undercooked, it was almost unbearable. So undercooked that the batter was still wet on the fish and was fried on the top. I have gotten lobster Rangoon's that was very good. We had a great time but you should expect the average wait for a busy restaurant. be patient, people! It's not going to be immediate but everything came out hot and was delicious. Lobster Rangoon, parrot wings, drunken chicken poutine. All so good. We got the fish tacos, fish n chips, and the lobster roll (which was 15% off). The drinks were strong and flavorful, blood orange margarita, basic Tito's soda/captain coke. We also had espresso, chocolate lava cake and the ice cream sandwich. The roof top dining was beautiful at night with sounds of the waves at low tide and the sunset was gorgeous. We thought we were going to bar hop and ended up staying here it was so nice. read more

I used to come here all the time as a child and enjoyed every visit. Today was the absolute complete opposite. The food did not come out together, half our table waited for over 30 minutes with no acknowledgment of the wait. The clam chowder was bland super tasteless. I am understanding of a slow kitchen but the lack of attention from the waiter when he made eye contact with us several times was distasteful. A kind older gentlemen was nice enough to come check on us and handle the missing entrees. Overall genuinely disappointed, appreciate the attempts to offer free drinks or desert when we asked for the bill but just wanted to get out of there at some point. Truly hope something changes as it's a great location and beautiful restaurant. read more

Whoa! Not sure why this place gets bad reviews! It was amazing!! Our waitress was crazy, fun and super nice! We talked about our animals and she was a fantastic waitress. Our food was amazing, too! I had baked haddock on risotto and it was so yummy. My fiance had a lobster roll and loved it. I'd give it 5 stars almost...the woman at the hostess desk and really not very friendly. We walked in and there were 3 of us. She immediately just sat us a table without even asking how many were with us. She sat us at a two person seat. We asked if we could sit on the deck. They sit an older couple between three tables so there was no place for a bigger party to sit. Not to smart. When we asked again to sit out front..she grumbled and took us inside. Stopped in to see the changes. Take-away is it might be opened a bit pre-maturely to raise a little revenue while they renovate this big spot. Up stairs deck was full so found a spot in the bar. Back Bar, chairs, tables. . . all look temporary and I get it - there's time to upgrade before next summer's season. Food - Main courses well received, well thought out and on par with higher-end casual places. Swordfish with coconut rice got great reviews. Lobster roll not up to snuff. Lobster was shredded almost to ham salad type of consistency with no discernable tail or claws or any other recognizable part of a lobster. And when you're 50 feet from the ocean you better put some effort into a lobster roll. Burger and chicken taco were a bit laughable. Small little paper basket the size of your palm for a $6 (or was it $7?) chicken taco? Burger pretty much the same, not up to par with The 99's but give it some effort! All-in-all, everyone wants it to work. If you're going for food, get a main course meal. If you're there for drinks, nibble on the rest of the menu. Either way let's hope they pick it up and put some effort into the food / value proposition there as it is still early for them! read more

Service was great, manager was awesome she came to check on us and make sure everything was well. The food was everything you could ask for on a hot summer night. Red sangria was awesome the wings with the pineapple sauce to die for. The fried calamari was huge and the aioli was everything. And don't forget to get the lobster wantons. Worst meal I've had in a long time. Menu is small and food was awful. Besides the view everything else was bad.

Service was fantastic ....food was not .....I couldn't eat it. ordered fish and chips. It was very soggy with grease and the fries had a weird seasoning on them and they were hard as a rock. We had dinner here while on vacation. We specifically went here because it was late and most other places were closed. The food was wonderful (shrimp scampi, burger, shrimp and grits) and the view upstairs would have been amazing in the daytime. The only downside is our appetizers came out after our meals (why my shrimp scampi is half eaten when my soup finally came). Highly recommend this place just don't expect your appetizers first. read more

Had the baked haddock tonight with shrimp risotto. The undersized piece of fish was rather tasteless and the risotto was not smooth at all. Rice was pretty hard and the mini shrimps were thrown in like an afterthought. For $26 it was a very overpriced dish. It was very disappointing to say the least. The waitress wan't the worst, but she has a lot to learn. The menu online boasted a ribeye, but no such luck. There is now a "Sirloin Steak Frite" in its' place, with truffle fries & arugula salad. What the menu does NOT tell you, is that the "chef" puts a generous drizzle of chimichurri sauce on it. This is a very distinct flavor that doesn't belong on a $38.00 steak! When I asked the waitress if the menu stated that, she replied, "I don't know, but we can wipe it off if you want us to".... Ummm.. NO. I wiped it off myself but because it was already sliced, the sauce had dripped down inside. By the time I got finished wiping it off, the natural juices had come off with it. It was a shame, because the 14 oz. Sirloin was actually very thick & tender would've had a nice flavor to it, absent the lingering flavor of the vinegar in the sauce. I asked to see the manager, so I could explain to him that the menu needs to be changed or the wait staff needs to relay the information that chimichurri sauce is a thing that they always put on the steak. He just said, "I understand" which translated to "I don't give a crap". Never offered us a dessert or offered to comp even part of the meal. He just walked away. Even the alcoholic drinks here were mostly juice.. I will never eat here again. I recommend Mambo's or Shoreline Kitchen & Bar, which both had excellent food & drinks. I will say The Parrot (formerly The Red Parrot) had a nice rooftop view. Other than than the view & maybe a beer, you can skip this place. read more

Me and my friends came here and the wait was very short they took us immediately but they don't take reservations for party's of 5( which we were) which we found inconvenient because we were on a right schedule. Thé food here is absolutely not worth the money. For appetizers we got the calamari, it was really not good. there was barely any squid and it was so bland that the only thing that got us to eat it was the sauce. there was more peppers and onions/ crumbs than actual calamari. When we got entrees it took a little bit of time but it wasn't bad. 3 people got tacos, they were flavorless and greasy, the rice that came with it was hard and undercooked. the meat was very dry and tough. I got the mac and cheese and it had no flavor despite having some sort of crushed herbs on top. it was sort of watery and extremely greasy. we also got truffle fries which basically tasted like fries but with extra salt. service was questionable, we got some weird looks and the servers seemed to walk away as soon as you finished talking. the view is very nice on the top deck though and it's very pretty and has a nice breeze. personally i do not recommend this place it was bland and lacked costumer service skills. read more

Went here when we stayed at the Nantasket Beach Resort, easy walk and right along the beach. We sat inside, great ambience and very covid safe with barrier walls along the bar. Our server was super friendly and attentive, drinks and food were great! Exceeded my expectations based on reviews on here. Loved this area, would visit again! read more

Just arrived at our hotel, we looked for a dinner spot. Being on the Cape, it would be appropriate to go for seafood. The craft beer choices look good so I had one. Nice. Lisa had clam chowder and beet salad. She liked the chowder and the salad. I ordered fish and chips. Not as great. The crust crunched but immediately became a mush underneath. The fish was good, in spite of the coating. Chips is chips and hard to mess up so no complaints there. The price..... I didn't realize that one piece of fish and fries could cost $20.00. I could see the value of the chowder, salad and beer, but, no bargain for sub Long John Silver quality fish. At least there was malt vinegar. Would I return? For the view, yes. For the fish? No. I must say that the staff is top notch. read more
