Used to be one of my go to gyro places in indy but lately has not tasted the same and the last 2x I've been the food made me wonder what was changing. The food quality ir a different cook and I thought I was overcharged. I went again and got the 10.99 combo gyro sandwich, small greek salad and a 2.99 grilled cheese sandwich no sides no drinks and it was $18. I asked about it being the right price and cancelled. Not sure why the prices don't match the menu on the drive through but it's just ok and quality has gone down lately. What an eclectic mix of offerings for a small independent restaurant (I believe so!) that serves so quickly that we had hardly any wait in the drive through lane. Amazing! Though they do have some indoor dining, we decided to get ours to go through the drive up. We both ordered Greek food, though they have traditional Americana food, and some Mexican items too. I got the Chicken Gyro plate which has the Chicken gyro AND a small Greek Salad with Tzatziki sauce on the side. My wife just wanted the sandwich. We waited until we got home to eat but the sandwiches remained hot. I forgot how large and filling a gyro can be. These portions were plenty! In fact, trying to pick them up and fold them over to eat was a challenge they have so much stuff on them. I do wish they would cut the green peppers and onions a little smaller. I like my toppings to compliment, not dominate the meat portion of the sandwich. So, after removing some of the large pieces, and adding the sauce, we were able to enjoy our meal. I will admit I settled down with a knife and fork to cut the gyro down to a more manageable size and less mess at the table. ha! Good taste and really fast service. Nice tip: Although this shop is located on a busy section of East Washington Street, you can cross lanes without worrying about being blocked by a raised median strip by the entrance/exit. This used to be our go-to for Gyros etc. but now it seems suspect. First the onion rings aren't the real rings, they're chopped onion made into a circle. Ugh. Second I wonder if they serve real Lamb gyros as they advertise on their menu, or if it's pork. My dog can digest lamb no problem, but he's a of breed that cannot eat pork ever. I gave him a couple little bits of gyro meat from The Patio and he was sick for 24 hours. read more

It looks what may have been an old fast food Wendy's building or something along those lines. The windows are decorated with deals they have going on. The menu has a nice variety of options. I ended up getting the BLT sandwich and French fries. The fries were so good! I was not disappointed at all!! The blt was the perfect combination. The bacon was nice and crisp. They also have a great gyro!! You can get delivery with a $10 minimum. They only do orders within a 2 mile radius. Ordered Chicken gyro and chocolate cake, horrible. There were huge slices of raw onions and tomatoes which didn't make it look appetizing. I never thought I would say this but there was too much of chicken, so much that the pita wouldn't fold and it was difficult to take a bite. In addition to that, the chicken was too dry and hard. The chocolate was the worst I have ever tried, it was so dry that I threw half of it. You might be tempted to confuse The Patio with a certain former Broad Ripple nightclub of the same name. Don't. The Patio isn't a night club. There isn't any music, though there is a television that was playing a soccer match upon my arrival. No one's dancing, well, unless they had to go to the bathroom. The Patio is located in what looks like a former Burger King on East Washington Street. I am comfortable saying that most who drive by the place have either not noticed it, casually wondered about it, or simply thought "what a dive." Yep, it's a dive. The Patio is pretty much a run-of-the-mill locally owned restaurant with decent food, better service, and from what I'm reading some pretty awesome delivery within their area that includes Irvington. The Patio has a pretty good variety of sandwiches, salads, ribs, a few desserts, burgers, chicken, and from what I've heard a pretty awesome gyro. If you're the type of person who gets fidgety inside a less than sparkling clean restaurant, you may want to stay away from The Patio. It's clean, but not spotless and the restaurant has clearly seen better days. However, they must be doing something right because they've been open for awhile. The truth is I've hardly ever seen anyone in the parking lot as I drove by, a factor that likely contributed to my taking such a long time to try the place. However, I was in the mood for something different tonight and it seemed like a good time to try a casual looking place. They do have a couple accessible parking spots and a curb cut that works quite nicely. They have a couple of glass doors that weren't too bad to open, and it's your basic fast food layout when you enter - the counter to the right and the dining area to the left. The dining area consists of tables, booths, four-tops and two-tops. I ordered what they called the "jumbo tenderloin," and while it certainly was a nice sized chunk o' meat I'm guessing it was a frozen fritter. Still, it was pretty good and I enjoyed it. The combos come with fries and a drink. The fries are a decent sized order - while they didn't have much uniqueness to them, they certainly were pretty decent. I was a little concerned when I saw that all their drinks are fountain drinks, but they do offer unsweetened iced tea so I was happy. It's a self-serve, so refills were also available. I wasn't really expecting The Patio to blow me away. It didn't. In fact, I'm a little surprised by the number of five-star reviews, though I admittedly didn't try the gyros and the hot dogs which seem to be getting most of the praise. I could possibly go to a four-star, though I have to be honest and say that my suspicion that my "tenderloin" was a "fritter" leaves me comfortable with a three-star rating. The real kicker for me is that my entire meal was less than $8.00 - and they had meals that were even less expensive. So, while I may knock the food a bit the simple fact is that it was a decent meal, a nice sized meal, and a terrific price with good service tossed in. The Patio is certainly not a destination spot, but if you're on Indy's Eastside and don't want to go to the nearby Applebee's then this is a nice opportunity to support a local business. I'm glad I did and I'll definitely go back, though I'll likely try something other than the tenderloin next time around. read more

Was looking for a good tenderloin on the near east side but didn't want the huge hunk of meat that comes at the Steer Inn so I stopped at The Patio. The service was friendly enough but the food was not good. I ordered the giant pork tenderloin sandwich basket. The fries were good enough they were actually pretty good. However, the pork tenderloin was subpar. When I received my order it was an obviously frozen, not giant whatsoever, patty. The breading was OK but the meat tasted awful. I ended up throwing away 75% of it and getting a hotdog which was decent. I will probably go back to try the gyro but I will never again get a tenderloin here. read more

I work at A nearby hospital, and our cafeteria was closed today. We were so excited to see that this place delivers and is reasonably priced. Plus they have a huge menu! We ordered for 10 people and despite that our food was delivered in about 25 minutes! The driver was very friendly. The food was still warm and very good!!! The tacos were amazing, the Greek salad was delicious, and the cheese fries were pretty good. They are open until 10pm, so that's good for our night shifters too! Thank you Patio people! This place didn't look all that great at first and I was hesitant about trying it. I had nachos and my daughter had a cheeseburger with fries. I should have brought two more people because the brought me a giant plate of nachos that was full of meat, cheese, sour cream and tomato. We ate slowly and talked for awhile but had to tap out because we couldn't eat it all. But the food was really good and they had a line of customers the entire time we was there so apparently others think its pretty good to. The menu is large but not overwhelming; pizza, sandwiches and assorted fried goods round out a Mediterranean cast menu. (You can order a small cup of fresh feta, L.O.V.E.) The food will come out fresh, hot and quick yet nothing fast food about it, save the location which was a former Burger King. I love that I have a delivery choice in Irvington other than pizza or Chinese food. I found The Patio via Grub Hub and I am so glad I did. A nice variety of sandwiches, salads, pizzas, ribs, and various munchies and desserts (anyone who delivers chocolate cake to me is automatically on my good side). Their gyros are huge (add a pita and you get TWO from one) and they don't skimp on the feta cheese, their taco salads are yummy, their Chicago dogs are smallish but still yummy, and the fish sandwich is good size and tasty. The only disappointment I have experienced foodwise are the burgers. I wish they would use a little better quality meat patty. It's just not as good as everything else, sadly. They're super nice and if they have questions about my order, they don't assume, they actually call me or send along extra options just to be on the safe side. Delivery people are nice and fast. Best gyros! My fiancé and I usually get the chicken gyros with a side of feta. They are my favorite item here! I have also tried the chicken quesadilla and tacos, and they are also great. The only items I don't really like are the burgers and fries; they're just "okay." The stuffed mushrooms can be good but other times they're too greasy and liquidy inside. Today I tried the stuffed jalapeños for the first time and unfortunately the batter wasn't cooked all the way. However, a few mess ups doesn't really bother me because the majority of the food is so good! read more
