I went to Terzo recently while on a business trip to San Francisco. I had an excellent experience. The interior was lovely. It was much larger than I expected from the outside. It was laid out very well and very comfortable. The bar was gorgeous. A lot of thought went into the planning of the space. Our server was excellent. We had everything we needed when we needed it. The food was great. You can tell that the chef and staff are passionate about what they do. Not only was the flavor outstanding, but the presentation was equally impressive. We had a variety of appetizers, salads, entrees and dessert. I have included photos and descriptions. Each item was perfectly prepared, presented, and bursting with flavor. Our waiter, Rafa, was fantastic! Super helpful with recommendations and made sure we ordered just the right amount of food. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious, especially the hummus and pita, the chicken, and the torchio pasta, which were standouts for everyone at the table. The menu changes daily which keeps things exciting, and you can really tell how fresh everything is. The ambiance and lighting inside are beautiful and perfect for a date night or a special celebration. Highly recommend ordering family-style so you can try a bit of everything. Had a great first dinner back in SF after a long trip out of the country! It's pretty nice inside with mood lighting and trendy vibes (but not overly crowded) -- kind of reminds me of some Fidi spots that are slightly nicer but not fine dining like Modi but located in Cow Hollow which is a bit more fun! I enjoyed the mushroom polenta (very creamy and savory)? and the pork dish was standout. The meatballs were also pretty good. Service was on the slower side but the servers were very friendly and it was a good amount of food for two people. I'm still dreaming about my food from Terzo last night...this place blew me away! Terzo is right off of the bustling Union St, which is refreshing since it's a bit quieter in terms of street traffic. They have both indoor and outdoor seating with heaters--we opted for outdoor and it was nice and peaceful. Service was great, maybe a bit slow at times, but certainly thoughtful. FYI- parking can be difficult to find in this area though there are free spots. Plan accordingly. The highlight was definitely the food. You know those meals where you're catching up with a friend you haven't seen in a while, and ignore the food because it's just ok? Yeah, this is not that type of place. I had the pleasure of noticing how great the food was here while having great conversations. Speaking of friends, it is a great place to come if you love sharing--Terzo has both smaller shareable plates and "larger" ones (which are not huge), making it the perfect place for folks who love to try a little of everything. We had the: burrata, brussel sprouts and squash with cheese, steak, and chicken. Everything was cooked to perfection and so flavorful. well! this was an experience! the atmosphere was dark, romantic. booths lined the walls with tables and seats to accompany them. they were very close together. very. so close i could hear the conversations of both neighbors even with all the noise around. the food was tasty! no complaints there. pricier side but i felt the portions and quality were fair. i overheard the menu does change often, due to the local selection, so these options may not be there when you go! the wait staff did make the experience feel rushed and alarming. at one point i was actively eating off a dish that was grabbed and pulled away. sorry but hello? can't take a second to look and see i'm eating? can't take a moment to ask? there is a staff fee that is tagged onto the bill, so i'm not sure if they're told to be Extremely attentive, but it was way too much. the waiter seemed to be busy with many tables so there wasn't much from them, but was friendly when we did interact. overall, good food but the chaotic service and close proximity to others does bring it down. leaning more of a 3.5/5 rating, but sticking with a 3 since i wouldn't make it a Must Eat during a future visit to SF read more

ordered 3 appetizers and 3 larger plates. overall the food is good. the service is great and our server Rafa was helpful and funny. decent street parking and the area is quite residential. i think the star of the dinner was actually the mozzarella /focaccia appetizer. i wish it came with 1-2 more bread sticks to even out the huge dollop of sauce and cheese. the chicken spiedini was a tad overcooked in my opinion but still tasted fine. not pictured. we ordered the pork shoulder. the moroccan braised chicken (broth like). and the skirt steak. with the exception of the skirt steak, the meat dishes were all a little too soft. no crunches to even out the textures range. i enjoy softer foods but it all started to taste a little similar- which is funny considering we're ordering three different types of proteins, i think. lastly- since it was someone in my party's birthday, and we noted that on the reservation, it would have been nice to receive a little complimentary something. but i'm not going to really look into that one too much because every restaurant is different. i think the main appeal of this restaurant is that it's a good place to have a few drinks (from beer and wine list) and share a few appetizers. i would come here again to do so- but for a birthday, or a more celebratory event, i would opt to try a different restaurant. read more

Food here was amazing! The small plates were all flavorful. We had the chicken spiedini, calamari with lentils, and the arugula salad. I also had the steak entree which was cooked perfectly. Portions are huge. Also really enjoyed the ambiance as it feels intimate but love that they have a bar as well. For dessert I had the apple crisp. However, the menu does not say that it has nuts and one of the people I was eating with did not know until I tasted it and asked the waiter. He immediately took that persons dessert away but did not offer a different dessert instead since it was barely touched when it was taken. Came here during SF Restaurant week. The menu was an incredible deal considering the quality of the food, as well as including a wine pairing for each course. The restaurant itself is tucked away on a not so busy street just off of Fillmore and is quite unassuming were you to just walk by it. Our server was really great at answering our questions about the menu and making sure all the courses came out together (we were a group of 6). Seating was comfortable and cozy and there are options for outdoor seating, weather permitting. This definitely seems like a neighborhood spot as I overheard the wait staff welcome regulars and ask them how they were doing and if they were going to get "the usual". Visiting from Los Angeles, this restaurant wasn't far from the hotel and we decided to give it a try. Upon entering, the hostess was immediately attentive and warm and seated us at the bar as we had no reservation for dinner on a Saturday night. The bar is spacious and more than comfortable to have a meal at. Our waiter was just as attentive and was friendly and just had the best vibe! We ordered beets with labne as an appetizer, and it came out quickly and was a delicious start to our meal. We ordered and shared the steak and chicken and both did not disappoint! Both dishes were absolutely delicious! Steak was tender and flavorful, potatoes were amazing and the chicken was just as good, with a creamy sauce over the rice that was almost like a deconstructed rosemary chicken soup. Brilliant! One bummer about this place is that they only serve wine/beer. But the floor plan and ambiance are nice for a date that you're trying to impress or a business dinner with contrasting palette preferences. Apps were good, but not incredible. The hummus and bruschetta were fresh. The meatball was average as the polenta lacked any depth of flavor. For mains, I got the chicken, again it was decent but nothing memorable. I can't say enough wonderful things about Terzo! It is a favorite go to in the city and has been for years! The food and service is always excellent! There are items on the menu I know will always be there and always something new and creative to try! Last night my girlfriends and I had our favourite dishes warm pita bread with hummus, skirt steak, meatballs with polenta, pork shoulder, newer items cauliflower soup, prosciutto and melon . Everything was perfectly cooked! The desserts are as wonderful as the meal and not some average pie or cake! I can't say enough about the service! We are so well taken care of from the minute we walk in the door! Nichole was our server for our almost 3 hour dinner and has always taken great care of us! There were 7 of us and they always accommodate us by adjusting portions to see that we all get enough food and often without us even asking! Would certainly recommend on food alone Grilled Persimmon Bruschetta (regular menu) 5/5 - delicious caramelization and the bread was crispy. Ordered the prosciutto on the side Zucchini carpaccio (RW menu app) 5/5 - fresh and nutty and so good with the manchego Fried Brussel sprouts (RW menu app) 4/5 - solid charred flavor but some were a bit soft and over cooked Butternut squash risotto (RW menu entree) 5/5 - creamy and nice texture with soft butternut squash chunks Braised beef brisket (RW menu entree) 4.5/5 - generous portion of beef that was so tender. A little bit salty and the veggies were slightly over cooked but overall still delicious Almond cake with whipped cream (RW menu dessert) 5/5 - soft and flavorful without being too sweet or overpowering. Our waiter kept touching my back which is fine i guess but it was a little much for me. We ordered cauliflower soup, it was really good but we had barely taken two spoons of it when our waiter came by and swooped my friends soup to the trash .. we didnt dare say anything. We were looking for something fun and unique after watching a show at the Palace of Fine Arts and were pleased to happen upon Terzo. Made a reservation a couple days in advance via OpenTable. There are plenty of seats near the bar and a communal table for when you walk in but scattered around the perimeter are cozy and intimate tables. What really made our experience extra special was the excellent service. We were served by an amazing waitress who took the time to provide her insights, stay patient on our inability to choose between so many delicious options and also was able to carry a conversation without rushing us out the door. Dishes we tried (but the menu frequently changes): -Mozzarella di Bufala - with the heat of Calabrian chillies and a vibrant green pesto, I could've eaten a second order myself -Hummus - we were told that it keeps people coming back so we had to try it! Smooth and creamy, it was a great way to start. -Tomato braised Meatballs and creamy polenta - very juicy and flavorful -Penne with beef bolognese- can order in a full or half size. The half was perfect since we wanted to save room for dessert too. You can tell the pasta is freshly made and the garlicky and creamy bolognese made it rich and filling The desserts are pictured in this review and are not to be skipped! They graciously accommodated our party of 8 and we were fortunate to be seated in the back room, which is quieter. Very nice when some folks are older and enjoy a less vibrant setting. The service was impeccable. Attentive and friendly, while keeping everything moving along. The food was mostly great. The steak and lamb were big hits! The steelhead was also delicious. The small plates were nice, especially the artichokes, fresh corn, and arugula salad. The calamari with lentils was almost all lentils with some kale (the lentils were yummy!) but the calamari was minute. Deserts were a hit. The crisp was very sweet and hot, the flourless chocolate cake was a hit, and the almond cake was excellent. Sleek date night spot with yummy food and drinks! Went here with my husband Friday evening without a reservation, and got seats by the bar with no wait. The bar is close to the kitchen, which allowed us to watch the magic in the kitchen while enjoying our food. We got their chicken spiedini, steak, and linguine. Everything was excellent but the steak was a standout. Cooked to perfection, with a delicious chimichurri sauce on top, it also came with scalloped potatoes and sautéed broccolini underneath. The combination was so delicious, and the citrus beurre blanc was...just wow. Light and delightful. Wine pairing for this was a white wine, Friulano I Clivi, 2017. The second course was braised Niman Ranch short ribs with crispy polenta, braised greens and a chimichurri sauce. The short ribs were juicy and so soft. I loved the savoriness of the ribs paired with the acidity of the braised greens. The polenta was so creamy so it helped with balancing the dish. It soaked up the short rib juices too. Wine pairing with this was a Spanish priorat. The last course was a delectable vanilla bean panna cotta with date molasses and pistachio. They paired this with a port. Highly recommend! Came here for dinner with friends and we ordered the pork, calamari, and seared tuna. The seared tuna came cooked not seared as described on the menu and it was a bit dry. The beans were flavorful though. The pork was good. For dessert we had the panna cotta, which wasn't my fav, and the warm apple-cranberry crisp. I was expecting this one to come with some cream or dough to complement the apple, but it was only apples with crumb and ice cream on top. My friends and I felt rushed during our dinner. The description of the appetizer seemed that the artichokes were going to be the highlight, but they were only "added" into the arugula salad. The short ribs were cooked correctly but there was quite a bit too much potatoes and it overwhelmed the rest of the plate. The rice pudding was undercooked. unfortunately the other door was broken, therefore was open. It was cold inside. There was flies/gnats just flying around. I believe they should have added some sort of door protector. Service was good. Didn't take too long to receive my meal or drinks. read more

We ordered some of the best rated dishes and nothing blew us away, but nothing was bad either. The decor felt very similar to the food - welcoming, but not particularly beautiful or trendy. Would I bring my parents here? Yes. Would I bring my foodie friends visiting from out of town? Absolutely not. Ordered the roasted white corn and tomato panzanella - both were pretty decent. The skirt steak was juicy, flavorful and cooked very well, but is definitely something I've had at other restaurants and probably with better execution. The chicken spiedini was unique, but didn't impress me that much. One downside is the portion. The 2 veggie appetizers each cost $18 and they were very small. Yes, it was good, however for the price charged you'd expect more from the dish, then what you got. Free range chicken spiedini was something of a distinct taste and worth giving it a try. One evening I walked by Terzo and it looked so inviting with all the heat lamps and vibrant atmosphere I added it to a list on my phone of places to try. This past week a girlfriend and I met up there after wanting to try somewhere new and it exceeded all our expectations! It was a warm evening in the city so we started out with a Rose, recommended by our waiter which was so refreshing. To start we ordered the grilled apple bruschetta - I was obsessed! This was so yummy and loved the combination of the sweet and savory. Next we ordered the sugar snap peas. At first I was a little unsure since they were a little more tart than expected but the more I ate them, the more I kept going back for more. For the main course we got the linguini and chicken spiedini. The linguini which was the star of the show! I will come back and 100% get the linguini again even if it's to share as an app. The pecorino was so tasty and comforting. The chicken spiedini was also delicious - we loved the combination of the bread on the skewer along with the refreshing cilantro sauce. Came here with a friend hoping to try something good and we were not disappointed. The grilled calamari was delicious but beware it is very chewy! The lentils that came with it gave for a diverse twist. I would 100% recommend the braised chicken. I was afraid it was going to be bland (let's be real, most restaurant chicken is), but it was mouthwatering delicious. I would also recommend the linguine.
