Almond whitefish, bacon wrapped dates , shrimp & grits
Lisa G.

I brought three ladies who have never dined here before I am a second time guest ! We all came hungry ... us ladies shared 3 appetizers and one entree it was perfect for us to be able to try each dish and share! We devoured everything and here's what we enjoyed : appetizers were bacon wrapped dates, shrimp & grits and alligator bites . The entree was almond whitefish with risotto and asparagus! All were fabulous and we all oooh'd and ahhh'd the whole time eating ! The waiters name was Flavio and he was superb and talked us into sharing beignets for dessert! See my photos for mouthwatering yummy food ! I was so impressed with the whitefish and risotto am amazing combo! Then alligator bites were pleasantly my favorite and so glad we ordered something FUN ! We will be back !!

The service here was great and our group loved that it was in a house. We went on a Sunday night and it wasn't that busy which was nice as sometimes a crowded restaurant can make larger groups hard. The food was delicious and I will definitely be going back. The starters tasted great and the entrées were even better!

Vegetable truffle pasta

The summer harvest pasta was delicious, but it was $34!!!!!!!!! My husband's shrimp sandwich and fries cost less. $34 for truffle pasta is absolutely ridiculous!!!! It's pasta and veges - and it didn't have an overwhelmingly truffle flavor, so the price cannot be justified. The pasta dish cost more than some seafood / meat options. Everything was delicious though. Brussels sprouts were fantastic! A bit oily if you're not into that, but great flavor. My husbands sandwich was great as well - but the amount of bread in the sandwich takes away from the shrimp. Service was good, but they took my husbands plate I was clearly still eating and the server asked us if we wanted dessert before I was even halfway done, so that felt a little rushed. There was no wait and plenty of tables, so there wasn't a need for the rush. Giving a 4 for the price.

It is a very romantic place to come to eat here. Bring a date and you will truly will enjoy the food. The food is very good. I had a soup and believed me it was divine I order ribs and was only able to eat a small portion because they give you he whole rack. I end up taking most of the food home it was way too much. The prices are just right. I enjoy being there by myself because it is very elegant. I was glad I got seated although I did not have a reservation. I know I will come back for that famine Mac and cheese with craw fish also for the oysters Rockefeller. I will also will have dessert. May be I will bring my husband to celebrate his birthday here. I know I will come back loved the food the service and the restaurant

Second visit here, our first visit was great our second was even better. Katrina our server was FANTASTIC!!! I felt bad because we like to sit upstairs and I know how much work goes into bringing food, drinks etc up stairs. Katrina did it with style and grace. She was very knowledgeable on menu items and history of local area, took her time with us and provided excellent service. THANKS KATRINA you made our special occasion dinner even more memorable. We talked about you on the drive home I hope your ears where burning (don't worry it was all good). Can't wait to see you on our next visit to the Patton House.

Patten House deserves 5 stars for staying open during our tyrant governor's total lockdown of all restaurants in the entire state! 13 of us enjoyed a fine dining experience here on 01/15/21. Everyone was pleased with their food but acknowledge that its on the pricy end. I enjoyed a lobster fondue (or was it crab?) and it was superb. I splurged because it cost $21. Prices clearly marked on menu. I had a bourban shrimp dish which was good, but not particularly suited to my palate. It was served at room temperature which was a but disappointing. But I understand, with this chaos our governor has created it presents challenges for restaurants. I would definately come here again and try a different entree. The service was good too. They gave a complimentary desert to one of our group who was celebrating a birthday! It was a unique experience being seated in our own private room upstairs! An old okd house, it felt like an in home dining experience! I thank the business for their hospitality and recommend.

I looked up highly rated Vietnamese restaurants and found Tasty House 1 in Carol Stream. This place is everything we anticipated it to be. The location is nice and has parking in front, inside is super spacious and had a relaxing and breathable ambiance. We ordered a family appetizer platter that came with all the delicious Vietnamese appetizers like: spring rolls, bbq marinated meat, fried eggrolls, grilled jumbo shrimp, meat wrapped in betel leaf, lettuce, noodles, cucumbers, cabbage, tomatoes, daikon, jalapeños, two dipping sauces: peanut butter hoisin and Vietnamese fish sauce. Another appetizer we got separately was the fried calamari which had a great crunchy texture, the absolute best! For our entrees I decided to build my own pho and chose tripe, rib eye steak and quail eggs. My husband got the spicy beef noodle soup (Bun Bo Hue). This is honestly the best Vietnamese we've ever had in our lives!!!! I'm so glad I found this place. Awesome service, food and atmosphere. Zero complaints everything was very fresh and perfect. Our hearts left super happy.

There is a separate vegan menu with half a dozen things on it, and other than the drinks and desserts, pretty much nothing on the regular menu is vegetarian. (The papaya salad, which is on the vegan menu, is a ringer: it contains fish sauce.) You've got your choice of various fruit lemonades, bubble teas, popping bubble teas, jellies, etc. Desserts include flan, Vietnamese yogurt, coconut jelly - none of which you'll be eating onsite as you'll be too full after your entree. Portions are on the large side - even the papaya salad is a meal. I got the peach lemonade, vegetable spring rolls and the tofu, vegetable and noodles, which turned out to be a soup, basically Vietnamese ramen. The spring rolls are tasty and come with peanut sauce; the vegetable broth was savory with lots of baby bok choy, plenty of noodles and cubes of fried tofu - it was even better with some of the homemade hot sauce, which I highly recommend. The lemonade comes in a bubble tea disposable cup and contains tiny pieces of fruit - very fruity, not very citrusy. Service was friendly and very personable, which helps if you're serving 16 people. All of whom were happy.

See, Grumpy Goat consists of two indoor dining areas and an outdoor seating area within a slightly larger building also that has a locker room, golf shop, and meeting room. The food ranges from pub food, to sandwiches, to flatbreads, to great steaks. Both times, the bar area was louder and people tend to focus on drinks and appetizers there. There's a separate dining room beyond the bar area where full dinners seem more common. Given that my 2 trips were in November and December, don't have a good sense for the outside area. I could just see that there are several tables overlooking the golf course. On certain nights, they have live music. Great variety of drinks, appetizers, sandwiches/burgers, and entrees. Can go inexpensive, or can get a filet mignon and spent a lot. Filling choices. Prices are quite reasonable.

It took about half an hour to get our food. We enjoyed watching Deal or No Deal on the TV while we waited lol. The guys working were really friendly, brought our food to us and even asked us how we liked the food. I would probably only order takeout from here in the future because they had those orders ready on time. I ordered the 6 piece boneless wing combo, which comes with fries and (possibly?) a drink. I did not realize that I could only choose one or the other for the combo: a drink or side of sauce. While ordering on the kiosk, I selected cheese sauce and it replaced my drink because they were under the same category of options, which I didn't even notice. Although I felt like it was my fault for not double-checking, I still don't think a tiny container of sauce is a fair drink substitute... oh well. Another thing to note is that online when placing an order/viewing the menu, it says the combo comes with a 20oz bottle of soda even though they only had 12oz cans in stock. I think these discrepancies could easily be fixed, and might prevent some confusion/disappointment among future customers. I appreciate that they gave me two extra wings because the boneless are somewhat tiny. For my sauce on the wings, I chose to try the Buldak-Gochujang and it was a little sweet with a hint of spice. The plain fries were just okay. They offer a bunch of different topping options for the fries, which I might be interested in trying next time.

When we arrived, there was no one else waiting and I'd guess that only 75% of the tables had customers. Couldn't have been more wrong in our decision as we waited for over an hour post ordering before we actually received our meal. This is the longest we have waited for breakfast... EVER. Anyone with kids knows having kids sit still and wait with minimal sources of entertainment is hard enough, then add hunger to the equation and it's a recipe for disaster. What could have made our experience better? 1 - Be transparent about your delays upfront -- Empower your diners to make a decision around whether they'd want to wait or not given how busy you are. Don't continue to seat customers when your kitchen is severely behind and hope diners don't notice. 2 - A small gesture goes a long way -- It would have been nice for SC to offer a couple of biscuits given the excessive wait. 3 - Don't add insult to injury... by bringing butter and ketchup 30+ minutes before the meal arrives. It added to the frustration that even my 7yo remarked "what are we going to do with butter, we have no food". They offered more water even when all our water cups were clearly full. Don't really understand how more water would make us less hungry? Looking at another recent 1-star review, I can see the same pattern as our experience. This restaurant clearly doesn't fail gracefully on busy days... and they don't seem to care either. At the conclusion of our meal, we didn't even get the typical "how was your meal" question from anyone. I guess they already knew.

Others in our party have enjoyed their dishes. Two non-food recommendations: 1. Address your MESS at the host station. Diners waiting, people to and from the bar, servers delivering food, all squeezing through one tiny area. It's super congested and uncomfortable for everyone. Glad you're doing a good business but this almost ruins the experience. Fix the flow! 2. Hooks in the ladies? Cost you maybe $10 to put a hook in each stall. We come in juggling coats and bags with nowhere to hang anything. So, you're asking us to put our items on the bathroom floor? Gross. An EASY fix. The space is very cool, with huge back patio. Could be improved! And if it were, we'd be back. But we'll look elsewhere.
