Wow! When can you say everything your party had was delicious. From the appetizers (Shrimp, Bacon stuffed figs, and cornbread) to our entrees (chicken, groups and steak salad) we couldn't have been happier! Did I mention the cheese biscuits! Absolutely fabulous. Visited after the reopening. Service was excellent and everything was delicious. Very cozy and elegant at the same time. Husband had the jambalaya and I had the grouper. Both were delicious. Great food--the chef knows what they are doing. The menu is interesting, if expensive (dinner). The wines are solid--not the usual. We had the Blackened Red Grouper and the salmon, with the Ragin' Eggroll appetizer. The salmon was a bit over-done for our taste, but the grouper was excellent. We paired them with a white Pinot from the Willamette Valley, OR. Very nice. The grouper was on a bed of mashed avocado potatoes with some sriracha-like sauce and mango chutney topping--worked beautifully together. The salmon came with asparagus and was perfectly cooked. The staff is...learning. They were obviously still figuring things out, delivered our food to someone else, forgot to bring the cocktail my spouse ordered--which was returned, btw, because it was not at all good (French 75). We're not sure the bar is ready for action, either. In general, the service was pretty pedestrian. Pleasant, but not as professional as I expect at these prices. I brought three ladies who have never dined here before I am a second time guest ! We all came hungry ... us ladies shared 3 appetizers and one entree it was perfect for us to be able to try each dish and share! We devoured everything and here's what we enjoyed : appetizers were bacon wrapped dates, shrimp & grits and alligator bites . The entree was almond whitefish with risotto and asparagus! All were fabulous and we all oooh'd and ahhh'd the whole time eating ! The waiters name was Flavio and he was superb and talked us into sharing beignets for dessert! The service here was great and our group loved that it was in a house. We went on a Sunday night and it wasn't that busy which was nice as sometimes a crowded restaurant can make larger groups hard. A cajun joint masquerading as a posh resto. A lot less posh than you'd might think. Great Cocktails. Fine gumbo. There are skewers and corn bread on the appetizer list wot shouldn't be missed. PoBoys really good, and so is the Jambalaya. Beignets for dessert. Yum. Then you get the bill-that's where the posh part comes. Bring ammonia salts, 'cos you may faint when the check is dropped. Then again, it's in a posh neighborhood, so whaddya expect? I wouldn't put this on the list for a casual drop-in, unless you're of the "don't care about the check" persuasion. But if you want a "nice night out" and want a real meal instead of a haute cuisine art statement, then this place is for you. read more

The summer harvest pasta was delicious, but it was $34!!!!!!!!! My husband's shrimp sandwich and fries cost less. $34 for truffle pasta is absolutely ridiculous!!!! It's pasta and veges - and it didn't have an overwhelmingly truffle flavor, so the price cannot be justified. The pasta dish cost more than some seafood / meat options. Everything was delicious though. Brussels sprouts were fantastic! A bit oily if you're not into that, but great flavor. My husbands sandwich was great as well - but the amount of bread in the sandwich takes away from the shrimp. Service was good, but they took my husbands plate I was clearly still eating and the server asked us if we wanted dessert before I was even halfway done, so that felt a little rushed. It is a very romantic place to come to eat here. Bring a date and you will truly will enjoy the food. The food is very good. I had a soup and believed me it was divine I order ribs and was only able to eat a small portion because they give you he whole rack. I end up taking most of the food home it was way too much. The prices are just right. I enjoy being there by myself because it is very elegant. I was glad I got seated although I did not have a reservation. Food was fine/pretty good but the prices are higher than what you pay at a nicer restaurant in Chicago. That wasn't the 1-star issue though... maybe that's a 3.5. Patten House ownership, Nancy I believe, charges a card processing fee even if you use a debit card. You actually aren't allowed to charge a card surcharge on debit card purchases so I asked them to remove the fee and she rudely lied to my face and said she gets charged that amount so it's just covering the cost. First, that's not true. Second, it's still not legal even if it was true (it's not). She did end up taking it off but with a very rude "if you're going to make a big deal over 11$ then I'll take it off" comment. Gave the extra 11$ to the server in cash so she doesn't steal his money too, he was great. Oh, and also be careful. If you have the kitchen cut anything in half or serve it on two plates or anything the might resemble a "splitting" of a meal they charge an extra 5$. All around such a bad vibe, won't be going back. read more

Was hoping for so much more especially for the ridiculously high prices. Whatever you do don't have a wedding gathering there. In Nancy's own words. We hate weddings. Nice to have heard that for the first time on our wedding day. Where to start and where to end. Don't want to lose the reader but much more that I won't even get to. The staff was treated awfully as noticed by me pre wedding and by all of our guests at the wedding. We rented an upstairs room (a cost on top of the food and drink). We had 14 very respectful people and a baby. My bride was literally scolded by Nancy for asking to put her purse down in a particular spot. My scolding was for trying to move a table two feet by myself because it could ruin the table legs. I get it but I also get a certain way to say things especially in a service business. We had lunch, a drink or two each and cake for desert and for an almost $1,600 totally underwhelming experience. We are about the most easy going crew around and I have never written a review in my life. Our waiter, and I wish I remembered his name, was awesome! Poor guy. I feel for him. Also whoever the woman was at the hostess desk that brought a couple of plates up to the waiter a couple of times. It was a wedding not a funeral. Second visit here, our first visit was great our second was even better. Katrina our server was FANTASTIC!!! I felt bad because we like to sit upstairs and I know how much work goes into bringing food, drinks etc up stairs. Katrina did it with style and grace. She was very knowledgeable on menu items and history of local area, took her time with us and provided excellent service. THANKS KATRINA you made our special occasion dinner even more memorable. Patten House deserves 5 stars for staying open during our tyrant governor's total lockdown of all restaurants in the entire state! 13 of us enjoyed a fine dining experience here on 01/15/21. Everyone was pleased with their food but acknowledge that its on the pricy end. I enjoyed a lobster fondue (or was it crab?) and it was superb. I splurged because it cost $21. Prices clearly marked on menu. I had a bourban shrimp dish which was good, but not particularly suited to my palate. It was served at room temperature which was a but disappointing. But I understand, with this chaos our governor has created it presents challenges for restaurants. I would definately come here again and try a different entree. The service was good too. They gave a complimentary desert to one of our group who was celebrating a birthday! It was a unique experience being seated in our own private room upstairs! Sandi and I met another couple here for dinner. It was such a beautiful day that it was difficult to decide whether we should eat indoors or on the patio. We decided to eat inside. The restaurant itself is one of the original houses in Geneva from the 1850s. The building both inside and outside is gorgeous. My spouse said as she looked around that she tried to guess what each room was originally. The staff was courteous and took great care of us. The Louisiana flavor could be seen throughout the menu. We tried out the crab cake and grits for an appetizer. I ate half of a muffalo wrap. The other half came home with us for the next day. The tomato bisque soup with sour cream and goats cheese was just right. The white chocolate cheesecake was to die for as my wife and I shared this delicious repast. Stop by and experience the decor as well as the taste of the food. You won't go wrong. read more

This place would THRIVE if Nancy the owner, would stay away and hire ANY restaurant manager. The servers get treated like petulant children by Nancy everytime I'm there. The menu prices are always lower than the price on the receipt and Nancy will try to make up an excuse for it but will NOT FIX YOUR BILL. She will then act like you're broke and shouldn't be coming there if you don't like paying over $50 for what you were told would be $46. This is for most entrees that I noticed. They also add a credit card service fee in 2023(!) and its 3.5% of your bill. I was told that Nancy also takes up to 4% of the servers tips as a fee for having to pay them from a credit card. The yard hasn't been maintained in years so there's more than typical amounts of bugs and cob webs everywhere, animal feces on the tables and nearby on the patio floor that seems like it hasn't been pressure washed in years judging from the amount of bird poop all over it. Branches touch you at your table but the owner "likes" the atmosphere of overgrown trees and having squirrels literally running over your table while you eat. The front steps are falling apart so bad I've almost fallen off of them. Even the handrails for supporting older folks like myself are falling off when you put any real weight on them. The deck surrounding the building hasn't been treated properly and it shows. Very tacky with stuff flaking off it. Don't bring a nice date here! Maybe a lady of the night date but not a nice date. We went here for Father's Day this year. Very cool place. It's an old house in Geneva. The look and feel here is awesome. Looked like they had some cool outdoor seating as well but we sat inside since it was pretty warm when we visited. Our service was good. Friendly waiter who was good, not great. Our food was good, not great. Overall, we were pleased with the meal -- very cool place, good service, good food. Sitting in this nostalgic home, made me feel as if I was in the movie the Color Purple with the high ceilings, and formal dining rooms, living rooms, dens, etc. Without missing a beat of feeling welcomed from the time I entered our palates were blessed with southern soul notes of deliciousness. Our appetizers Crab Cakes with Grits and Honey Sriracha Brussels Sprouts. If I had to state something bad about the crab cakes and grits, it would be that I WANTED MORE. The grits were creamy, buttery, and full of flavor and with the creole seasoned crab cakes resting atop the grits made them a instant marriage comforting flavors. The Brussels Sprouts were simply sweet, lightly spicy half moons of surprises that kept you coming back for more, and I could easily see myself going there just for those. My wife had the catfish and gumbo plate. The catfish had a light fishy taste, breaded perfectly, and had to be the best catfish I've ever had. You could tell they took their time cleaning and prepping each nugget that every bite would be as enjoyable as the last. I personally felt the gumbo could have a little more seasoning, but it wasn't bad. My main entrée was the BLT which reminded me CROWN CANDY'S lb of bacon BLT that was simply more than delicious and more than enough. This is definitely the gem of the neighborhood! read more

Patten House is a super cute little restaurant located in a little house. Their menu changes seasonally. When you first get there, the entrance was a little difficult for us to find. They have two signs and two doors, but only one of them is functional. Make sure you enter off of the 2nd street. The ambiance is pretty small. It didn't feel too cramped, but getting around is a tight fit. It definitely gives off an intimate vibe. They have a variety of food options, but their menu is relatively small. We ordered the Brussels sprouts for the table. They were a little overcooked, but still tasty. I ordered the crab cake sliders because I love seafood. The crab cake sliders were pretty good. Definitely not the best crab cakes I have had in the area, but still pretty good. It worked well in the sliders. Overall, pretty standard restaurant. I will probably be back. read more

Really great dinner the other night. I was a part of a party of 10. The Brussel sprouts, and mac and cheese appetizers were phenomenal. Had the blackened grouper for dinner and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked as well. The only issue was drink service was slow. I usually stray away from places in the burbs simply because I loathe the drive however this place offered a pleasurable conclusion to my date night In Geneva. The interior reminds me of a bed & breakfast mixed with a log cabin. Extremely cozy to say the least especially when dining next to the fireplace. The bar offered a television & there's a patio in the rear. My only complaint would be the drinks appear to have a hefty dose of alcohol in them but they could use a extra "pour" if you will but don't let that deter you because the drinks are really good. I have to state that the portions at this place are humongous. I made the mistake of ordering two appetizers in addition to two entrees & we didn't have room for dessert. Every dish was delicious & seasoned well. The sauce that accompanied the alligator bites had a nice kick to it which elevated the dish even further. The gutter cheese sauce totally made the fish. The avocado mashed potatoes was a surprising but huge success. There were several things we want to come back to try but this is a must if ever in Geneva. read more

Shocked and disappointed, to say the least. I've had several great meals and pleasant experiences here in the past, so was not prepared for what I experienced tonight. Made a reservation and showed up on time to find the manager/owner greeting guests with no mask on and three bartenders behind a small bar not wearing masks. We walked out after informing the hostess of the reason, which they seemed to care very little about. We have been doing our part and respecting other people by wearing our masks at all times when out in public. Not wearing a mask as the greeter and face of your business during this time, shows a lack of respect for your customers, and a complete disregard for the State"s guidelines and advice from health officials.
